Chapter 12: Angel's Fall

"Why should I talk to my parents again?" Kagome asked again in confusion. Didn't she already cut ties with those fools? There was nothing left to say to them.

Sesshomaru stared into her eyes. "Your brother needs you, Kagome." He answered. His mind thought back to the conservation he just had with the boy. The boy needed his sister more so then he let on.

"What's wrong with Souta? Kagome asked her brows frowning. Wasn't he okay living with those people?

I try to face the fight within
But it's over
I'm ready for the riot to begin
And surrender
I walked the path that led me to the end
Remember
I'm caught beneath with nothing left to give
Forever

"Your brother sought me out in my office." Sesshomaru paused. "I believe you two should talk about it. Saying what the problem was felt wrong coming out of his mouth. The boy came to him in confidence. While he was in no way a therapist nor a person to tell such things to, he was an honorable youkai. He figured her brother trusted him with very sensitive information. And that was just fine.

Kagome had caught on to his stilled speech with a sigh. Nodding, she rubbed her clean hand down her face. "Okay, I will." Her eyes drifted to the floor. "But I still won't talk to my parents. You can do as you like. I just won't do it." She breathed out heavily from her nose. "Thank you for telling me." Her lips found his in a sweet kiss.

"You are most welcome." He replied while kissing her again.

"Will you check on the kids before you go to sleep please?" Kagome asked out of breath.

"Will do." He nodded.

"I love you." Kagome smiled as her scathe appeared in hand.

Sesshomaru nodded again as he pulled her closer to himself.

Once he let her go, she cut open a portal and disappeared into it. She arrived in her old room in the shrine. It was dark and the little girl from before slept soundly on her old pink sheets clutching a bear. Kagome frowned as she walked through the walls.

When she arrived in Souta's room, she stared at his sleeping form. He was covered in bruises all along his chest and arms. The scent of old blood was on his till form. It was coming from his face in the cuts that lined his cheek and eyes. Her hand reached out to touch his face when it was caught by his hand. His red eyes, from crying, stared at her furiously before they softened in recognition. He sat up but did not let go of her hand.

"Kagome?" He whispered.

Kagome nodded.

"What are you doing here?"

"What happened to you?" She asked her voice soft but her face was hard.

He looked shocked before he looked away.

Kagome followed his head with a raised eyebrow.

He sighed heavily. It almost painful to breathe as it was. "I was beat up." He whispered to her.

"By whom?" she asked frowning deeply.

"Kagome don't. Just don't, okay? It doesn't matter." He let go of her hand as he stood up. How was he supposed to explain this to his death-god sister? The ruler of the Underworld was no joke. Besides, she had already cut ties with them anyway. "It was an accident."

She was quiet for a while. It must have been someone he trusted. By the way of the smell on the bruises, she figured out who it was. Kon had beat Souta. Glaring out the window at the clear night sky, she tried to calm herself. "It was Kon wasn't it?"

When angels fall with broken wings
I can't give up, I can't give in
When all is lost and daylight ends
I'll carry you and we will live forever, forever

Souta froze before turning to see his sister being surrounded by her power. She looked pissed as he observed the skin begin to peel.

"Was this the first time?" She whispered darkly.

"No. I was protecting mom from him." He answered looking down at the floor.

Kagome walked to his form slowly. Lifting his head, she stared into his eyes. "He put his hands on mom? What about the girl?" she asked still in a whisper.

"That's the Queen." Souta sighed.

Kagome nodded. "Did she cut you?"

Souta nodded.

"How often does this happen?" Kagome hissed. There was an evil here that she didn't quite understand. It was there but it wasn't at the same time.

"It's been happening since we had to leave you here. He stared drinking and getting angry for no reason. He would smack mom just because before he started punching her. When she was pregnant with Yana, he took it out on me." He paused. "Yana started cutting mom a few months back, but never too bad. I protected her most of the time." He began to cry. "You gotta get mom out of here. He'll kill her." He sobbed.

Kagome embraced her bother tightly. "I will; you and mom. Pack your things. You're going to come with me." She stated looking at him with murder in her eyes. He wouldn't like about things like this. Even if she couldn't smell lies, she knew her brother.

He nodded to her.

Grey skies will chase the light away
No longer
I fought the fight now only dark remains
Forever
Divided I will stand
And I will let this end

"It's going to be alright. I'm going to protect you both." She vowed wiping his tears.

Kagome fazed through the walls once more to her parents' bedroom. Her eyes sought out her mother's form. She was in the corner sniffling silently. Bruises covered her arms and chest. Her hands had blood slipping through them. Kagome walked up to her mom before crutching in front of her. Moving her hands, Kagome held a finger to her mouth. Kagone looked at her daughter in shame. Kagome stared at the cuts that were still bleeding on her face. Glaring hatefully at the blood, she stood and walked to the bed where her father slept. She grabbed his ankle and pulled him out the bed only to toss him into the wall harshly.

Kagome looked at her mom. "Pack anything meaningful to you. You have three minutes." She stated before looking at the groaning man with disdain.

Kagone nodded before standing up with a hiss. Three minutes wasn't a lot of time to pack things she loved.

"So you like to hit women, huh dad?" She asked darkly.

"What are talking about Kagome? I would never hit your mother." He questioned in shock. How did she know?

"Why is my mother on the floor bleeding?" Kagome asked ignoring his spiel.

Kon didn't answer. His eyes looked at the woman hiding behind their daughter in fear. Glaring at her, he couldn't stop the words of anger from leaving his mouth.

"You worthless waste of space! You got you our daughter to protect you from me?! Listen to me woman. You're not leaving me. If I have to kill you to make you stay then so be it." He growled hatefully at Kagone. "You will always be mine."

Kagome looked at the teary eyed woman behind her. So it had really come to this? Sesshomaru had been cautious for all the right reasons. She wondered what he would have done if he had taken action. Reaching out, she grabbed his throat and brought him closer to her. Her eyes began to catch fire quite literally. It spread though her body as her power began to shake the house. Everyone in Tokyo could feel her power steadily building as she stared down her father.

When angels fall with broken wings
I can't give up, I can't give in
When all is lost and daylight ends
I'll carry you and we will live forever, forever

"When the time comes to collect your soul… you better hope I forgive you for what you have done." She growled before tossing him again.

Souta opened the door as the house shook. His sister's power put the fear of God in him. Bag in hand; he joined his mother behind his sister. She glared down at the man at the man before cutting open a portal. Pushing the two into the swirling darkness, she paused when she felt her flesh being sliced.

"You can't hurt my daddy." Yana cried holding a knife between her hands.

Kagome looked at the little girl blankly. Turning her wrist to see the flesh began to come together, she smirked at Yana before walking into the portal. Yana stood there in pure shock until she heard her father moan in pain.

(Back in the Underworld)

"Neil, see to it that these to get rooms near mine please." Kagome spoked to her servant, her back turned to the three.

"Yes sir. Is this your mother and brother?" Neil asked observing the humans. They looked just like their ruler.

Kagome looked over her shoulder at the two of them. Blinking slowly, she nodded. "Yes." Her mind was reeling. She began to walk away till she heard her brother call out.

"Kagome where are you going?" he asked softly.

"To my throne room. Neil let no one disturb me." She spoke still walking, leaving her mother and brother to watch her go in silent sadness.

The sun begins to rise
And wash away the sky
The turning of the tide
Don't leave it all behind
And I will never say goodbye

Kagome sat on her dark throne letter her bloody tears fall. She was slumped to the side in her throne with her hand on her forehead. Her head was supported by her hand. Her mind drifted to the situation at hand. While she was busy blaming them for everything, Kon was beating her mother and brother. It made her so mad and disappointed in herself. How could she have allowed hatred to make her turn a blind eye?

The sadness began to swallow her form until a cool hand touched her check. It pulled her hand away from her face and brought her to a standing position. Arms wrapped around her still crying form tightly as the scent of a thunderstorm filled her nose.

"You are sad. Why?" The harsh but familiar voice of Sesshomaru's beast whispered in her ear.

"I'm a failure." She sobbed.

"You are not." He responded softly.

"He was beating them like they were lowest of people in the universe." Kagome hissed.

"How could you have known? You are a ruler." His lips trailed down her cheek, licking up her bloody tears.

Kagome nodded at his reasoning. It did make sense that she didn't catch it. She had souls to collect ad beings to rule. Her thoughts were interrupted by his normal voice.

"You are a mother Kagome. We have three children to care for. How could you have possibly known he was doing such things? You handled the situation. They are safe here among us." Sesshomaru sighed against her head.

Sesshomaru sat his desk with his son. The boy was asleep on his chest as he finished his paperwork. It had been some days since his son had he had bonded. Kagome's mother took to Homaru rather quickly. He didn't mind it in the least but it was nice for the two of them to bond.

NAT appeared next to his master. "Sesshomaru-sama, you have a guest."

No later than the words left his mouth was there a knock on his door. He inhaled the scent of liquor and anger. Frowning he spoke his word for entrance. Kagome's father walked in with blood shot red eyes. It seemed as though, he wasn't all the way there. Though his suit looked sharp and expensive, Sesshomaru wasn't sure if this was going to be a pleasant encounter.

"This is a nice office. How did my slut of a daughter catch you?" he smirked evilly at Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru stared at him blankly. "What is it that you want human?"

"For you tell that wench of my wife to get back home or things will get out of hand." Kon smiled while his eyes traced to the baby sleeping on the young lord's chest.

Sesshomaru's face didn't change. "Yes it will if you do not leave." He stood with one hand under Homaru in guard mode as well. He didn't miss those eyes stare at his son in a threat.

When angels fall with broken wings
I can't give up, I can't give in
When all is lost and daylight ends
I'll carry you and we will live forever, forever

NAT stood guard waiting for orders.

Kon smirked before he rushed at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru let his whip wrap around his neck decapitating him. Kon's head lay on the ground in a pool of blood. His eyes were trained on Sesshomaru's form for a moment of two before he blinked. A smile graced his features as the blood turned tentacles. Dark chuckled escaped him as the tentacles picked up his head.

"I'm not so easy to kill young lord." His head was back onto his body while more tentacles appeared. They shot out to Sesshomaru and Homaru quickly.

Homaru raised his hand to encase them the three of them in titanium. He snored slightly as he moved to get comfortable on his father's chest. The tentacles continued to try to break through with no success. Homaru's jewels began to glow as his mother's power added to his own power in pushing Kon back. Badly wounding the with contact from the titanium shield, Homaru opened an eye to NAT. Nodding his head, NAT took place of the titanium shield as Homaru created a portal. Sesshomaru walked into the portal as he heard the last words of Kon.

"You will not be able to save Kagome forever young lord. Death will not have her way." He declared with a frown. His tentacles wrapped around him to shoot out once more.

NAT pushed Kon back as the portal closed. Slipping through the portal, he made sure his master and his son were okay before disappearing. Sesshomaru looked down at his son with pride. Even at the tender age of a few months, he was so powerful. More so than just his youkai blood, his reaper blood was dominant. He could tap into both so easily. He wondered if he and Kagome made more children would they be just as powerful. The fact that Homaru was so young made him swell at the right choice for the mother of his children. His son, their son, protected him from Kagome's father. Shaking his head he took his sleeping son to his nanny.

Forever, forever
