(( Author's Note: Hey guys! It's me again! Sorry it took so long to update, life has indeed taken a very rough turn ^_^6 but I'm back! I will do my best to make up for the lost time and Chapters hehe, I thank you for all your support and patience for these past years. Really means a lot. And stay tuned.. things have finally gotten.. !
Oh and one more thing: this chapter was taken directly out of my original story so please don't copy it!
AND over time it looked like my works on here have been met with additional spelling errors that weren't there before.. don't worry! Will be editing those out when I get more time.))
The sun was nigh on the horizon by the time the vocal uproar of the locals rose to a lively pitch. The sun beat against the hatless heads, as sweat drenched every shirt and profile.. the scent of both sea, freshly baked clams, and newly cut wood seemed to accent the already rummy atmosphere.
" Hey looks like I came ta tha 'ight place!" came a very joyous tone. Tearing off the poster that seemed more than happy to remain pinned against a lamp post by a miniature dagger just read the words aloud.
" New hands a needed, be needin' bout five heads more, though we be sufficient with less. Meet me at the Siren's Nest before dusk ta day should yer be willin' to try your hand at makin tha cut."
A curious set of bright blue eyes seemed to zoom in on the cue that seemed to stretch almost a mile from her standing point. " You must be kiddin' me.."
" Nice.. VERY nice.." came a cheerful lad's sing-song note.
Sensing the figure behind her, Amie frowned and whipped round, her fist greeting the younger lad by grappling his collar, " You say something boy?"
The lad of about fifteen just gulped and held his palms upward facing her squarely," No Ma'am! Just a pacing fancy.." came his rushed words.
"Sorry Miss- my brother-" came an older voice only to be cut short at the sight he saw before him. " Amelia? Amelia Nick-" before he could complete his banter he was shoved into the fair maid by a more bulky looking fellow with dreads. " Hey watch where yer-" meeting the piercing raven eyes of the other just gulped and bit his tongue. Everyone knew.. who this.. intimidating figure was.. the right hand blade of the notorious Captain Knightly.
"What's his problem?" Amie quizzed as her bright optics followed the authoritative other.. a grimace plastered upon his face.
It was almost dark by the time Amie had set foot in the well lit room, the re-encounter with her lost friend in arms Thomas and his younger brother James all but a blur in her memory now. Scanning the terra, the first thing that had caught her attention in this well kept inn was that mysterious man who she'd encountered earlier. He stood an easy six feet, with a healthy head of dreads that seemed well kept and tidy- even if it was decorated with bits of shell made beads, it still accented his very masculine figure. Well ripped shoulders and a finely drawn face with kind yet piercing deep eyes complimented his light raven complexion. Even though he seemed quite serious, his lips were drawn in a semi-smirk that illuminated a personality that loved to joke. He seemed like an almost decorated piece compared to the plane figure who sat next to him. The fae had her booted legs casually resting atop the table top, her arms folded lazily behind her head as she leaned back on two legs of the chair she sat upon; and accented by the trecorne with the large white feather that rested low over her eyes.. Well.. the confidence imitating from this much younger character gave the impression that either she was the Captain- which was less likely- or the Captain's daughter.
Knightly just glanced at this red-headed female with no interest whatsoever.
"State your name, age, and business." Came the mysterious man's inquisition, his words were smooth and husky.
With a grin Amelia confidently struck a pose, " Bonneh Ann" she smirked, " Age 25, and my business my kind sir, is to land me a position on your fine vessel."
For the first time since he'd actually interviewed a fella that day, he struck a light half smile, " I think ye 'ave da wrong impression lass, I'm not tha Cap'n."
Knightly chuckled quietly as she took note of Joelle's lighter aura, " Why do they call you Bonneh?" Resting her soles atop the wooden flooring folded her arms across her chest in an almost arrogant manner.
"It's not because of my physique I assure you," came Amie's sarcastic reply.
"Then pray tell, for what is the reason behind your dubbance?" Knightly smiled sarcastically.
Amie held up her palms so that they faced the younger girl and smiled, " Simply becauseā¦" within a blink of an eye she whipped up a set of twin blades carved out of bone it seemed; it's ivory blade glinting in the candle light, " of my little friends, Darine, and Daren- carved out of a beluga's horn they were!" she beamed; only to be interrupted by another set of vocals.
"Captain!" came a female's urgent tones.
All eyes turned to the fae dressed in a set of skin tight brown ankle length pants, a white balloon shirt and a green corset. With a nod Knightly read the worry in her kin's eyes, " Good lass, make ready the sails we leave immediately!"
Merida nodded and headed out, and like clockwork Knightly slowly yet gracefully rose from her chair. " Amie you're in."
"Wait- that's it?" Amelia was quite surprised. This.. girl.. puzzled her. For all it was worth she could've just allowed an assassin, or a common thief on board her vessel. "But-" Her protests and questions all seemed drowned by the mysterious brute who flanked this girl who seemed to now hold an intimidating air. Taking note that neither girl nor man were paying any heed to her presence quickly tailed after the duo. " WAIT!"
- 15 minutes later -
Light tapping against wooden planks were all but additional percussion to the already hyped up band scraping against the deck and crates, whipping lines and whistling winds against the well sewn sails. The chorus of energetic voices met Amie's ears as she docked as a swinging yardarm was swooped in and was set into place- with an ease that was quite abnormal for the small group already tending to the ship.
" YOU!- tend to the rigging" Joelle ordered as he followed Knightly towards the bridge.
"North by North West, heading 53 by 8 degrees" came the authoritative fem's tones.
" Aye, North by North west, 53 by 8" Joelle echoed.
"How's things below?" Knightly quizzed keeping her eyes on the horizon. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and as she combed the side of her hair as it tussled in the wind, she allowed that same hand to rest upon the charm and necklace that rested at the nape of her neck.
Pulling a coned piece close to his jaw line, the young man just yelled in, " Status?"
" Clear and Steady!" came an older man's response.
Joelle just turned to face his Captain and friend, only to find her lost in a daze. It had been about three years since they had banded together..and seeing her so at ease.. couldn't find the heart to interrupt her peaceful disposition- for these moments were rare. And before anyone knew it, they were making good time and entered deeper waters. His attention was drawn to the portside yardarm where a familiar character seemed to have gotten tangled in the net that was strung up as a ladder.
Knightly heard a light chuckle and turned to her right to find her stern faced First Mate gazing up at the new recruit and struck a grin. Yes a pirate's life was for her.. freedom.. no ties to anyone but herself and her mates.. the thought of-

Frowning paused and dropped her gaze to the ground as a rippling thundering vibration that sounded from below. Did they strike a reef? Maybe it was some clumsy fish-but what fish would be so large as to-

Eyes met that of her First Officer and as the scent of ammonia caught her attention the harmonious hushed word escaped their lips.
"The Kraken."
