I do not own Young Justice or any of the characters. Should Red Arrow turn good or stay bad?

New Side, New Squad

Richard pushed himself up onto the desk and looked out at the team he was supposed to be leading. They were barely trained, barely able to fight, and all of them had super powers that allowed them to beat him with ease, if he wasn't as skilled as he was. One was super strong, one could fly, one was both, two could control water and generate electricity from tattoos on their arms, and one was as normal as Richard. Then, there was Artemis.

Throughout the entire process of them joining the Gotham military, she had stuck by his side and he had never once mentioned her past. Eventually, they had been put in charge of a team of super-powered, or extremely skilled, teenagers around their age and they had all received uniforms. Then, they had promptly gotten rid of those and made their own. Artemis had made a green belly shirt with a masked hood, green gauntlets, skin tight green pants, and military issue knee-pads and boots. Her shirt had a lime-green arrow design pointing upward on her chest and she had kept her bow and got a new quiver along with matching green arrows. Richard had taken a liking to robins when he found one that was tame enough to be his pet. He had made a red tunic, black pants and boots, black gloves with armored backs, a black mask to cover his eyes, and a black cape. He also made a yellow belt with several pockets for equipment and his new weapons, boomerangs with lethally sharp edges and the ability to fold up for easy storage. He had his titanium staff turned into a set of eskrima sticks that could be put back together when needed. He had taken the nickname Robin due to his pet.

The super strong boy was about Robin's age, incapable of physically aging, wore a simple black Tee-shirt, blue jeans, and work boots, and was bullet and explosion proof. His name was Conner but they called him Superboy most of the time. The girl that could fly, Raquel, wore a dark grey jacket and pants, a navy blue shirt under the jacket, and a black belt with round crystals that glowed when she flew, and was one of the only two African Americans on the team, not that anyone cared about skin color. They nicknamed her Rocket.

There was also named Malcolm Duncan, nicknamed Guardian for his protectiveness of Rocket. He wore a gold helmet and shield on his right arm, a blue chest plate over a black shirt, blue pants, and grey boots with gold knee pads. The last member was a blonde girl that had the power of flight as well as Superboy's powers. She had a chord made out of titanium that she used frequently and a pair of titanium bracelets that she blocked bullets with. She wore a black muscle shirt with two gold W's on the front one above the other, red pants, and blue tennis shoes. Her hair reached her shoulders and they nicknamed her Wonder Girl because Supergirl made it sound like she was dating Conner, an idea both protested violently.

The last boy was named Kaldur but chose to go by Aqualad instead. He could control water and generate electricity from the eel tattoos wrapped around his arms. He carried a metal case on his back that was filled with water and had two removable handles that he used to form weapons out of his water as strong as any metal. He wore a black muscle shirt a black belt with a gold symbol similar to the Greek Omega, and blue pants. He also had gills on the sides of his neck allowing him to breathe underwater as well as on land. His girlfriend, Tula, had the same powers and abilities. She had brown hair worn in a pixie cut with longer bangs framing her face and aquamarine eyes She wore a skintight, light yellow tank-top that bares her midriff, with aquamarine hemming, a short sarong-like cloth fastened with a ring with the end of the cloth hanging to her front light yellow gauntlets, and yellow tennis shoes. She also wore an aquamarine choker around her neck. Unlike Kaldur, however, she had no visible tattoos. She could still control water and generate electricity but Robin had never seen a tattoo and had never been stupid enough to ask if it was under her clothing.

"Hey Robin," Artemis said sitting beside him. "I still like your spare better."

"Yeah yeah," Robin said. "And I've told you to call me Richard."

"So?" Artemis asked. "Where's Wolf?"

"He went for a walk," Richard said. "He should be back soon."

"What are we doing today boss?" Superboy asked as if trying not to laugh about Robin being in charge.

"You think you're better than me?" Robin asked.

"Pretty much," Superboy said.

"You're not," Kaldur said. "He could easily beat us all."

"You're right," Artemis said. "Now, today, we're after an old friend of me and Robin's. His name's Wally and he's been in hiding since the last time we met him six years ago. We finally know where he is. We're going to kill him. No trial, no chance for a not guilty verdict, just execution. Any questions?"

Everyone stayed silent. Robin nodded just as his phone rang. He pulled it out opening it and put it on speaker.

"Are you prepared to move out?" their general asked.

"Yes," Robin said. "We're prepared and are ready to move on your word."

"What are you going after this mission?" the general asked.

"Wally," Artemis said. "We found him."

"Watch for Red Arrow," the general said. "If you see him, be careful."

"Copy," Robin said.

"Superboy," the general said. "Keep you temper under control. Wonder Girl, keep him under control. Kaldur, Tula, be careful and try not to let your relationship issues interfere."

Tula and Kaldur had been together for months but had recently been fighting after Tula had begun to develop a crush on one of Star City's top soldiers, Garth, A.K.A. Tempest. It was obvious and she didn't deny it. Kaldur was less than happy but Tula was faithful and wasn't happy about Kaldur being, understandably, jealous. It wasn't that he was jealous, it was that she felt he didn't trust her enough to stay faithful. The others were all undecided about which side to take.

"We won't, sir," Kaldur said. "If he's there, he's dead."

"Good," the general said. "Move out as soon as you're ready."

The general hung up and Robin put his phone away then stood. Everyone had been ready and waiting for the general to call already. They all left and climbed into the three Jeeps they had been given and then left. Robin and Artemis led in the first Jeep, Superboy and Wonder Girl were behind them and Kaldur and Tula were behind them. Guardian and Rocket both always stayed to defend their base on the off chance that its location became known and was attacked while the others were away.

After three hours of driving, they reached a cave blocked by a massive boulder. they stopped and everyone got out then Superboy and Wonder Girl destroyed the boulder. Just behind it was a dent in the cliff. The "cave" was a lie.

"Guardian!" Robin said calling.

"Hello?" Rocket asked.

"It was a trick," Robin said. "We're on our way back, lock down and prepare for an attack."

"Too late," Guardian said. "They're here. We'll meet you at the rendezvous."

They hung up and Robin swore restraining himself from throwing his phone.

"Wonder Girl, Superboy, get back," Robin said. "We'll bring the Jeep. Get Guardian and Rocket out of the base. We'll be right behind you."

Wonder Girl nodded and flew into the air and Superboy leapt after her. He couldn't fly but he could travel just as fast by jumping. Robin got into their Jeep and drove off with the others following. They traveled as fast as their Jeeps could go and an hour and a half later, they stopped. They were just out of range of their base's defenses and Wonder Girl and Superboy were just leaving with Guardian and Rocket while the base blasted Star City Soldiers with catapults and cannons as well as machine guns, all automated. Robin and the others still with him, got out and ran as fast as they could to their base. By the time they were there, the base's defenses were all destroyed and the base was under Star City control. Robin and Artemis led them to a tunnel that functioned as a drain for the waste of the tower and dumped into an incinerator then got washed away in the rain and spread into the forest on the East serving as fertilizer. To the North was a lake, to the South was a cliff that was too high to climb up or down, and to the West was a desert that was the only way to reach the base on land.

"Oh God, it stinks," Tula said.

"No doubt," Robin said. "Alright, here's the plan. Artemis and I will go in here. Tula, you and Kaldur go to the lake and through your hidden passage. Keep silent and make sure the lights go out before you're spotted."

Kaldur nodded and touched his fingers to his belt buckle. His clothes turned black and Tula did the same to the ring in her skirt and her entire outfit turned black. Artemis touched the arrow design on her shirt. Her uniform turned black. Robin pressed the small 'R' on the chest of his uniform and it turned a dark grey.

"Alright," Robin said. "Move fast. Be careful and if you see Red Arrow, do not engage. Do not turn the lights out. Just pull back and wait for him to move on."

Tula and Kaldur ran off making it to the lake and diving in swimming down to a hidden tunnel that only they could make it to. Garth might be able to also but Robin was unsure about Garth's exact powers. He knew he had the same powers for the most part so he suspected he could breathe underwater as well.

Robin and Artemis climbed into the sewer pipe and sprinted through it trying not to breathe. Finally they reached the end and Robin sent out an EMP taking down the lights and cameras all of which were equipped with night vision. He and Artemis both put on night vision goggles and sprinted silently into the room that was still bright enough to see about five feet well enough to make out silhouettes. They ran up to soldiers silently and knocked them out with a quick smash to the back of the head then made sure they dropped quietly. After about three minutes, they finished and slipped out the far side seconds before the lights and camera rebooted and came back on. They repeated this for several more rooms before running into a problem.

Tula and Aqualad both climbed out of their tunnel and sent an EMP into the next room then ran in and knocked all of the soldiers out escaping long before the lights and camera came back on but the next room was the problem. The moment the door opened, they both froze staring at the only person inside. Garth.

"Fuck," Kaldur said before pulling out the handles and turning the water from his pack into two machete blades. "You're dead this time."

"Is that so?" Garth asked. "And is this what you want Beautiful? My offer for you to join me still stands."

Tula turned crimson a the nickname but took a defensive position and glared at him.

"I'm not going to leave my friends just for you," Tula said. "And I'm not breaking up with Kaldur for anything. Especially you."

Garth smiled and drew a pair of short cleavers shaped similar to Kaldur's own. They, like his muscle shirt, were sea blue with black hilts that matched his pants and shoes. His hair was also black and reached just above his shoulders. His shirt was blue on the stomach and chest but the shoulders on the front and back were black. He had tattoos under his black gauntlets that gave him the same powers they had and he too had gills.

"Let us see who the better warrior is, Kaldur'ahm," Tempest said.

"Yes, let's," Kaldur said.

Both charged forward and swung at each other. Their swords met in a loud clang, despite Kaldur's being water. Kaldur spun swinging his left then his right in an attempt to break Tempest's guard but Tempest ducked under the second sword then swung at Kaldur. Kaldur blocked it then kicked him in the face. He stumbled back then spun slashing a pipe and spilling water over the floor and setting off several alarms.

"What are you doing!?" Kaldur shouted.

A moment later, bulk doors slammed down over all of the doors locking them all in and allowing the water to flood the floor and begin to rise.

"I don't fancy getting shocked," Tempest said.

Kaldur grinned and nodded since he knew Tempest couldn't shock him or Tula either with the floor flooded.

"Where were we?" Kaldur asked charging.

"Here," Tempest said kneeling and sending electricity through the water and into Kaldur and Tula while his rubber boots protected him.

"What...how..." Kaldur tried and failed to speak between labored breaths.

"Rubber boots," Tempest said holding a foot above the water as the bulk doors opened and soldiers rushed in. "Effective and helpful. Shame you refused me Tula. Now, you'll have to be executed with Kaldur'ahm. Such a waste of a beautiful woman."

Robin dove sideways and Artemis dove the other way as two red arrows shot past and hit the wall electrifying it momentarily before running out of charge. Red Arrow stepped out of a doorway opposite them as Wally blurred through the room removing the unconscious soldiers then stopping beside Red Arrow.

"Wally," Robin said.

"Richard," Wally said. "Artemis."

"Wally," Artemis said. "Red Arrow. I can't wait to beat you."

Red Arrow silently nocked an arrow and aimed at her chest. Wally drew a pair of long knives and Robin drew his eskrima sticks. They both charged and Wally easily evaded Robin's attack and slashed his side, back, chest, other side, then repeated before Robin could react. Within a minute, Robin collapsed and began struggling to stand. Artemis launched an arrow at Red Arrow then spun and launched another at Wally. The arrows were both tipped with tasers that would electrify the target for ten seconds on impact incapacitating almost anyone. Wally caught the arrow aimed for him and Red arrow deflected the one aimed for him with one of his own before hitting Artemis in the back with one of his own with the same kind of tip. Robin pushed himself up and hit Wally in the back of the head before Red arrow smashed his bow into Robin's head dropping him.

"Little brat," Wally said. "Let's get them into the cells."

"Right," Red Arrow said. "She's got skill. She'd have made an excellent recruit."

"He'd have made a promising one too," Wally said. "Of course, I'd have killed him anyway."

They carried the two to the dungeon deep below the base and met Tempest there. They locked the four up in different cells then left locking the door and activating the defense system behind them.

THE END

Read and review. Again, I would like voter input about whether or not to make Red Arrow turn good or stay bad.
