Jailbreak
"You there Artemis?" Robin asked reaching uselessly for his eskrima sticks which Wally had left in front of his cage to taunt him.
"I'm here," Artemis said. "You're wasting your time."
"I know," Robin said. "You got a bobby pin?"
"Sure," Artemis said handing it down the line of new prisoners made out of the four of them until it reached Robin.
Robin instantly began to pick the lock and after a few minutes, the lock clicked and the door swung open. He stepped out and picked up his eskrima sticks and moved to Artemis's cell. He unlocked hers quickly and they both moved to one of the other two. They all grabbed their equipment and quickly left the room. The camera's had easily seen them breaking out, but Robin suspected that they were simply bait for their rivals.
"Too easy," Robin said as they reached the armory. "Electricity proof suits."
They all got clear body suits that were both bullet and electricity proof and slipped them on over their suits. Robin looked around and sighed.
"We'll have to set the SD," Robin said.
"Great," Aqualad said. "Alright. I'll go set it to-"
"No," Robin said. "I'll do it. My lead, my mess. I'll blow the base. You guys get out."
"I'm going with you," Artemis said. "There's no way you're getting rid of me now."
Robin nodded and they ran off toward the control room while Tula and Aqualad ran for the exit. After a few minutes, they found the control room and Wally and Red Arrow waiting.
"Welcome," Red Arrow said. "Time to start round two."
"Yes," Artemis said drawing the arrow that was the key to the Self Destruct function. "Shall we?"
She launched the arrow and he avoided it easily and it stuck into its key slot silently beginning the count down from five minutes. Then, she and Red Arrow began to fight using both arrows and anything they could reach. While they did, Wally and Robin fought again and again Wally easily outpaced Robin and shredded his suit and body. Finally Robin managed to trip Wally and smashed his eskrima sticks into his head knocking him out just as Artemis managed to tag Red Arrow with a taser arrow. They had about two minutes to get out so they sprinted as fast as they could. Neither planned on getting blown away just yet.
Wally and Tula ran toward their secret entrance but stopped in the last room when they found Tempest waiting.
"Electricity proof suits," Tempest said not missing a beat. "Smart. Let's settle this once and for all, shall we?"
Aqualad and Tempest both charged drawing their swords and began to clash instantly. Tempest swung at Aqualad's neck and Aqualad ducked under it spinning and slashing Tempest's stomach then spun and jumped back to avoid a slash from Tempest. Tempest's wound was shallow, barely more than a scratch. Aqualad swung at Tempest's neck and Tempest ducked under it then spun slashing Aqualad and giving him little more than a scratch to match his own. Aqualad spun around Tempest and tripped him then drove his blades through Tempest's chest and both lungs.
"Now stay down."
With that, he stood and he and Tula ran to the exit and dove into the water. They got out of the exit and began swimming away from the base and a couple of seconds later, the self destruct went timed out and the base exploded sending debris raining down around them.
Robin and Artemis reached the lobby and began running harder. They couldn't have more than a few seconds to get out. Just as they cleared the door, the base exploded and sent them both flying along with whatever was left of the base itself. They landed hard both breaking several bones but were mostly okay.
"Well that sucked," Robin said.
"Yup," Artemis said pulling her broken bow out from under her. "Guess it's over huh?"
"Over?" Robin asked.
"Those were their top soldiers," Artemis said. "Gotham can win easily now."
"I doubt that's enough to kill any of them," Robin said. "If nothing else, they're annoyingly persistent."
"True," Artemis said. "Guess we'll see. For now, I'm taking some time off."
"Me too," Robin said.
"Hey guys," Wonder Girl said landing beside them. "You look like crap."
"You're late," Robin said. "Superboy?"
"Fetching Aqualad and Tula," Wonder Girl said.
Robin nodded and pushed himself up then pulled Artemis up. Then Wonder Girl picked both of them up and flew them to the same cave Artemis and Robin had originally stayed in when Wally was part of their group.
"Why are we here?" Aqualad asked.
"We made this the backup," Robin said. "Follow me."
They went to the cave in back then dove into the pool swimming down to the small tunnel in the bottom. They swam through it and soon came out of the water in a massive cavern that had several large computers and display cases of extra suits for everyone. Robin's, however, was different from the one he had on at the moment. It was all black and had no cape. The only color on it was the light blue bird design on the chest. It also had military grade Kevlar plates covering most of it, the only exception being the mask.
"Nice suit," Aqualad said. "I can see why Artemis likes that one. It suits you."
"Thanks, I guess," Robin said. "I'm going to go change."
He took the suit into the bathroom and changed then came back out and Aqualad went in.
"So," Artemis said. "Now what?"
"I have no friggin' clue," Robin said. "Guess it's back to following orders."
