I do not own Young Justice or any of the characters.

Someone left this review to chapter 5: "How old is everyone? Oh, here's some irony for you. If you take the first initials of Wally, Artemis, and Robin and put them together, it spells out WAR."

On the off chance you read this chapter(since half of the people that leave one don't continue) I said the ages in one of the first couple chapters, I believe 2. Wally was 15 I believe, and Robin and Artemis were about 10. After the time skip Richard and Artemis are about twenty one, Superboy and Wonder Girl are both sixteen, and the others are all eighteen( including the rivals). As for the initials thing, that's actually something I never noticed.

sorry this is in this chapter, I thought I had already posted the last one.

Raid

Robin stretched and yawned looking around. It had been exactly three days since their base had been destroyed and they were still living in the Cave. The general had yet to call but Robin had finally found a military base where Star City soldiers were training. The problem was, it was inside Star City.

"You're awake," Artemis said smiling tiredly from the doorway and Robin was surprised to see that she was awake and looked like she hadn't slept all night.

"You look tired," Robin said.

"I couldn't sleep last night," Artemis said.

"You're staying here," Robin said. "I'm not letting you go anywhere near Star City. I won't risk your safety. Not like that."

"I'm not staying," Artemis said.

"Yes," Robin said. "You are."

"No, I'm not," Artemis said.

"I'm sorry," Robin said walking past her before a metal gate slammed down trapping her in the room.

There was a bathroom and refrigerator so she would be able to eat and go to the bathroom if she wanted to. She would be okay and would eventually get out on her own if things went bad.

"Rest," Robin said. "We'll be back by tomorrow."

"And what if you're not?" Artemis asked. "What if I never see you again? What then? What do I do if the thing I love most is taken away from me?"

Robin stared at the floor for a moment then walked over to the gate. Artemis was standing on the other side close enough that they could hug. Instead, he kissed her. She kissed him back and they stayed like that for several minutes but finally pulled away. The others were all assembled and waiting silently so as not to interrupt. Robin turned to leave and stopped.

"I love you Artemis," Robin said without looking back. "I'm sorry it took me so long to finally say it."

"Please don't go," Artemis said sensing the same thing he did; that he wouldn't be coming back. "Please stay here, with me."

"Goodbye Artemis," Robin said. "I'm so sorry."

Robin walked to the others and they left the Cave and took their remaining rides to the perimeter of Star City territory.

"You can go back," Aqualad said. "We can handle this."

"No," Robin said. "I have to do this. He'll be here and I need to get to him before he cracks."

"Alright," Aqualad said. "Then let's go."

Robin nodded and walked toward Star City. The others followed and they all silently made their way across twenty miles of barren land on foot then silently walked through the city keeping to the shadows until they finally reached the same prison Robin and Artemis were held in before joining Gotham. When they got to the military base, they stopped just out of sight of the guard patrolling the top. The base was nearly impenetrable. The only exception was for Robin to go over the wall, probably fight the entire army housed within, then let the others in through the front.

"Cassie," Robin said. "You and Superboy need to fly us all over the wall without us getting seen."

"Deal," Wonder Girl said. "Would you like me to knock them out first?"

"How?" Robin asked.

"Check this out," Wonder Girl said pulling out a disk and throwing it into the base.

Just as it hit the ground it released a sonic blast that incapacitated everyone inside and would have done the same to Wonder Girl and Superboy had they not put earplugs in.

"Nice," Robin said smirking. "Alright. Let's go."

Superboy and Wonder Girl carried all of the others into the base and they looked around. The soldiers were all out cold but were beginning to stir.

"Time to move," Robin said.

They all ran into the base and silently moved from one room to another taking out soldiers and making excellent progress. Then, they met Wally and Tempest.

"Welcome," Wally said. "Nice to see you guys again."

"Go," Robin said drawing his eskrima sticks and connecting them into a bo staff.

Aqualad created dual swords out of his water and Wally put on a pair of brass knuckles while Tempest drew his swords.

"Let's finish this," Wally said.

"Not likely," Robin said. "If we win, you'll both live. If you win, we'll escape and fight you again."

"You know you're going to die right?" Tempest asked. "You're marked. It's only a matter of time until you bite it."

"Don't worry," Superboy said. "Wonder Girl and I will handle them. You guys go get the prisoner."

Robin nodded and they all ran out of the room and down a flight of steps. Just as they walked into the dungeon, a ball and chain sailed toward them swinging in a perfect circle from the left. They all ducked and it crashed into the wall then tore free and crashed to the ground then dragged slowly and loudly across the floor to a Star City Soldier wearing a blue military grade Kevlar vest, a metal hokey mask, forearm pads, shin pads, black pants, a black shirt, and combat boots. Beside him was a second holding a katana and wearing black Kevlar armor with a half gold half black mask.

"Oh joy," Robin said. "Sportsmaster and Deathstroke. The two best assassins in the entire Star City Army except Red Arrow. One a professional at impressive displays of power and the other silence, surprise, and skill."

"I'll handle Deathstroke," Aqualad said.

"No," Robin said. "The prisoner is three cells down. Free him and get out. I'll handle them."

He stepped forward drawing his eskrima sticks and connecting them. Deathstroke grinned and stepped toward Robin while the others ran toward the cell. Just as they approached it, Sportsmaster's ball and chain crashed down in front of them. They all stopped and Sportsmaster pulled the ball back beginning to spin it over his head. Robin sprinted toward Deathstroke and slid under his first swing blocking the second then kicked him away and threw his bo staff at Sportsmaster who caught it easily then threw it back and pulled out a javelin. Deathstroke turned toward the others just as Robin's bo staff smashed into the side of his head.

Sportsmaster swung his ball and chain at him but Robin leapt over it and landed on the chain once the ball had stuck in the wall. Robin began to run along the chain. Just as Sportsmaster let go of the rope, Robin leapt at him spinning and kicking him in the face. Sportsmaster flew backward into Deathstroke. Both flew away from Robin and his friends then crashed into a wall. Both stood and pulled out their swords. Robin grinned and spun as they charged. They swung as him and he knocked both blades away then tripped them both. As they began to stand, Robin smashed them both away. They crashed into the wall and struggled to stand just as the prisoner they had come to save arrived. He wore a full suit of extremely form fitting black and blue armor designed vaguely like a bug with a large blue metal beetle attached to the back.

The prisoner's right hand transformed into an opening shaped like a rectangular rectangle vacuum hose end. Then, it shot out giant blue staples. The staples pinned Sportsmaster and Deathstroke to the wall. Then, a red arrow flew toward the prisoner hitting him with a taser attached to the end. The prisoner dropped and four more arrows flew at the others, all tipped with sharp, old fashion, deadly, arrow heads. Robin shoved Guardian and he fell into the others. Unfortunately, they all failed to notice that the arrows were fired in such a way that they curved through the air and instead of hitting the others, one went through Robin's left thigh, one through his right shoulder, one through the left side of his stomach, and the last through his chest just right of dead center. Robin fell onto his left side failing to break the arrow in his arm to be able to pull it out but either way, he was unconscious. The others turned and retreated unhappily and took Superboy and Wonder Girl with them then went back to the Cave having failed their mission and lost Robin.
