So here I am, writing that thing I swore I never wanted to write. But now I have to. I owe a huge apology to those who adored this story as I did. It breaks my heart having to end it like this.
I dragged this hope for well over a year that I will keep writing fanfictions and finish them all eventually. As I said in probably every farewell chapter I'm adding to my works, writing them helped me through an awful time where I couldn't enjoy doing my art like I used to. This story in particular helped me vent and express and just overall find myself. It helped me be creative again.
I'm sorry, but I just have to move onto this new era of my life though I hate leaving this unfinished. BUT I will be reviving it somewhat in the future, with my own original characters. It might be a good while. But we'll see.
I also owe you all a huge thank you for the love I've been shown. To all of you working on your own stories; keep doing it. I hope you find the joy I found as well.
I won't leave this off without a word of what I planned on taking this story. Here's an outline I had written for chapter 13:
13 – (December 6th) Opens to Lukas waking up from a nap he took after work closed early, and an hour before Tino's party. He's drowsy, trying to think of how the night will go since Tino let him know the night before that his parents are coming by. He's allowing them with an open heart in hopes to create a better relationship with them. Lukas is overly bitter about not only them calling the day before, but he's remembering the many subtle hints Tino has given him over the years concerning how he feels about his parents.
Mathias comes into his room minutes later, laughing that Lukas is still in bed and with messy hair. Lukas rolls over, laying face down and grumbles. Mathias lays on him and noses the back of his head, asking him if he needed time to get ready. Lukas says he would be only a minutes and Mathias leaves the room.
-page break-
Cut to Lukas knocking on Tino's door with Mathias, Emil, and Leon. Tino answers, wearing nice clothes and with his hair gelled. Inside, Lukas tells him he should dress how he usually does, and not to impress his parents, to let them know he's doing just fine without their lifestyle choices. Mathias stops Lukas and tells him that Tino should dress like that if he feels the need to. Tino changes the subject quickly, hinting at his nervousness by his body language. After Berwald arrives and shows Tino the shot glasses and drinks he brought. Afterwards, Tino leaves the room to go to the bathroom. Lukas and Berwald start discussing what drinks or mixers they need when they doorbell rings.
Tino's parents arrive; Lukas has to keep from being salty towards them. Mathias spends the whole night keeping Lukas away from them. Things are awkward with many silences between Tino and his parents, but Berwald tries helping with sparking conversation. The attempts only help a little, and his parents excuse themselves and leave. Tino is completely broken, and everyone cheers him up.
As for the next several chapters, I planned on more humor between Lukas, Mathias, and Emil. There was also going to be Leon's coming out chapter where he actually starts a better relationship with his dad, a chapter explaining Nathan works at the coffee shop because some asshole caught the flower stand, that he spent his life savings on, on fire. And of course, the backstory on Francis and Arthur, and Ivan and Matthew.
Francis and Arthur's started out when Francis was visiting Seattle. On the second night he was staying there, he couldn't sleep and decided to take a walk. He passed a cafe, where he saw Arthur sitting alone, and decided to sit down and talk to him. At first Arthur is unresponsive but after Francis' innocent, joyful questions and rambles drive him nuts, he pours out all on how he left home and dropped collage, accusing his parents not caring about him, and how dreadful and unhappy he was. He burned all his bridges and he was all alone.
Francis takes pity on him, pays for his drinks he had gotten, and gave Arthur his number in case he needed someone to talk to. Just before Francis left Seattle, Arthur calls, crying for help. Francis decides to help him out with a job and a temporary place to live. Arthur had never admitted to attempting suicide before he called Francis, but Francis has the idea.
As for Matthew and Ivan, they met while in high school in rival teams. Ivan was quite arrogant, assuming his team was able to win because the other team was much smaller than they were. At first, Ivan doesn't give his all and then realizes they're actually really good, so he starts getting rough with the other players. That's quickly put to an end when multiple of them start defending themselves, particularly #10, who Ivan shoved to the ice. Not even 5 minutes later, #10 knees him in the back of his leg while he was distracted with another rival, causing him to fall. He continues playing with one of his legs hurting, which worsens by the time the game ends.
Ivan's teammates carry him to the locker room, joking with him about getting what he got coming to him for being a bully. A few others from the other team come by and asking him how he's doing. Ivan apologizes to them, but starts yelling as soon as they turn around, noticing one is #10. Ivan's teammates keep him from trying to follow them out the door.
Ivan goes to the doctor after a day of wondering why his leg kept hurting so badly. It turned out that he had a very small hairline break in his leg, but it was impressive injury for the situation. Ivan asks around and figures out #10's name is Matthew Williams, but he isn't able to figure out any contact information beyond that. He eventually gives up.
Three months later, Ivan's invited by a friend of a friend of the host to a party on a weekend. At the party, he plays foosball with several others. The 4th guy who comes up seems a little familiar but it suddenly clicks to Ivan that it's Matthew. Matthew realizes based on the aggressive when playing, and starts trying to light-heartedly make jokes about when they met. Ivan confesses that Matthew gave him a hairline fracture and Matthew immediately starts apologizing, but while Ivan's distracted, he scores a final goal in their game of foosball and wins. Ivan makes a scene and demands another round. Their friends find this absolutely hilarious and they start inviting them out to bowling and tennis and other parties that involved games. Over the course of several months, Ivan and Matthew gain a respect for each other and start hanging out outside of their crowds.
During all of this, Matthew had a girlfriend that wasn't too serious with him, and the night he broke it off, he went out with some friends, including Ivan, where he admitted his respect towards Ivan. Ivan brushed it off as him antagonizing him until he realized he was being serious, and admitted the same back.
A month later, during a smaller party, Matthew and Ivan get into a huge debate about characters from a movie. They migrate to the kitchen, where Matthew changes the subject and claims there's too many olives on the pizza. Ivan starts laughing some, and it turns into silence. As usual, Matthew tries breaking the awkward silence with something even more awkward. "Want to go make out in the bathroom?"
This turns into a mess when Matthew wasn't serious, but Ivan thinks he was and starts trying to confess his feelings. Matthew is caught off guard and ends up having to bring him outside so they have better privacy. There, Matthew confidently confesses he likes Ivan, Ivan's relieved and they agree to keep things slow.
The story ends with Mathias selling the shop to Berwald, so he can move to Seattle and experience another career and marry Lukas. It was going to be a huge emotional chapter of all of it. I wish I could go back and actually work on all of it sooner.
