A/N: I own nothing this is just for fun.
He could see her from across the guildhall. Gajeel took in a deep breath sorting through everyone's scents until he found hers. It was different today; her scent still smell like her there was no doubt about that, but there was something more. Gajeel slowly made his way across the guildhall; closer to Levy. He was sure no one was paying him any mind, but a certain bluenette was quietly tracking his movements and well was a certain white haired barmaid. Mira could not help the small smirk on her face as she watched Gajeel's face become one of confusion as he took in Levy's scent before slowly making his way over near her. Mira smiled to herself; she knew what was throwing the dragon slayer off and found it cute how he began to sneak closer in an attempt to figure out what was different about the petite bookworm.
Gajeel was now two tables away from his Shrimp, and the odd smell was without a doubt coming from Levy. It was subtle and small and blended well with her natural smell of ink and citrus. This other smell was fruitier almost like a faint scent of cherry. As Gajeel began to scan over Levy he did not see anything different about the Shrimp, but dammit that smell was still coming from her. Lily who was perched at the bar near Mira eating a bowl with kiwis noticed his partner's distress a smirk made its way across the exceed's face. Lily gave Mirajane a knowing look before flying over to Levy and sitting on her lap; making eye contact with Gajeel. "Oh, why hello, Pantherlily" Levy said as the exceed sat down into lap.
"Why hello Miss Levy, have you noticed a certain dragon slayer is confused today." Lily said in a low tone where only Levy could hear. The corner of Levy's mouth twitched into a small smirk. "Indeed I had Lily. The clear lip balm is really throwing him for a loop." The exceed chuckled "Mira and I have a bet on if he can figure it out today before you leave." Levy frowned at that "you know I do not like it when I am the subject of Mira's bet." Levy was absently rubbing Pantherlily's head in between his round ears.
Gajeel stiffed as his partner sat down in the Shrimp's lap and proceeded to make eye contact with the slayer. Gajeel could tell from the smirk on Pantherlily's face that his partner was well aware that something was bugging Gajeel. He could also tell that his partner knew exactly what was throwing Gajeel off about Levy today. He eyes narrowed as Levy and Lily began to talk to each other in a low tone that he could not hear. Gajeel definitely knew that something was going on. Gajeel just decided to go for broke. Gajeel walked straight up to the Shrimp and he traitor of a partner. "Oi, Shrimp you smell funny today, what the hell?" Pantherlily faced pawed at his partner's lack of subtly. Levy balked then blushed before "Baka! You can't just blurt things out like that!" Gajeel shrugged his shoulders. "Will ya just tell me what the smell is?"
Levy deiced to torment Gajeel in retaliation for his bluntness. "Why Gajeel does the smell offend you?" The dragon slayer knew better than to piss off the solid script mage. "N-n-n-no I just figured out where it is coming from." Gajeel stammered. Levy smirked at the Dragon Slayer. "Just take a guess" Levy licked her lips. Gajeel's eyes went wide as he looked at her lips; it was now painfully clear where the smell was coming from. "You are wearing chap stick!" Levy smiled coly as she stood to leave for the day and feeling brave said "Wanna a taste."
Gajeel passed out on the spot. Lily was shocked to say the least and Mira could be heard laughing from behind the bar. Lily gave Mira 50 jewels for losing the bet and collected his partner up before heading home. Gajeel could only keep replaying the last part with the Shrimp over in his head as he fell asleep.
