I know its been an insanely long time but I figured a short chapter is better than no chapter. Anyways hope you like it, again sorry its so short.

Chapter 6: Cheer Tryouts & Notes From Dad

The rest of the day flew by, with talk of party planning and excited mingles around the school. Apparently Magnus let it "slip" that we were having a black light party. But, as usual, it was invite only and Magnus would definitely have security in case of any party crashers.

Before I knew it I was walking out of Spanish and on my way to cheer practice, or should I say cheer tryouts. Ugh, today was the day Izzy, Maia, and I had to pick out who would be on the team. It was too bad we only had 2 spots apparently some new girl had just transferred and was a pretty good dancer. But two girls I knew, Katie and Samantha, seemed like they would be the ones filling those two empty spaces.

When I got to the gym all the girls trying out were already there along with most of the team. They wanted to see the recruits as badly as the rest of us. I changed quickly and met them out on the football field — well technically the track that went around the field, but that not the point. Anyways, we would have them in the gym, but if these girls were serious they would have to learn exactly what it would be like to cheer out here for games and whatnot. Magnus had his speakers set up and Isabelle had the clipboard in hand when I walked out in my usual practice gear, the guys were already on the field.

"Okay girls," I began stepping onto the bench where the football players sit and gaining everyone's attention, "for those of you who don't know me I'm Clary Morgenstern, and the captain of the cheerleading team," the girls who were already on the team cheered for me," and these are my co-captains Maia Roberts, "I gestured to Maia who smiled," and Isabelle Lightwood," Izzy waved to them enthusiastically.

"Now to begin each of you have to dance individually, to whatever song you have chosen so we can see what you've got." We sat on the bench, and Isabelle handed me the clipboard.

"How was that?" I whispered to Izzy.

"You did great Clare," she smiled at me and I smiled back before taking a seat between her and Maia on the bench.

"First up," I glanced down at the clipboard, "Kya Evans."

A pretty brown haired girl with hazel eyes stepped up.

"Hit it Mags," I stated, the music began and she danced.

After about 45 minutes there was only one girl to go. I had to admit a lot of these girls had talent and heart, but some of them were just bad. An example is when a girl with dark blue hair named Jemma stepped up. She danced to I Am Not A Robot by Marina in the Diamonds. Let's just say she spent most of the routine either rolling on the floor or doing a terrible version of the robot. It was insanely hard not to laugh but I hated hurting people's feelings. I giggled quietly at the thought.

"And last but not least Camille Belcourt." A girl with wavy blonde hair and striking green eyes stepped forward. I'd never seen her before maybe she was the one that just transferred here.

"Hi I'm Camille, but you already knew that," she smiled shyly and her cheeks turned the lightest shade of pink. She cleared her throat, "I'll be dancing to Superhero by Cher Lloyd."

Magnus started the song and she began to dance and ... holy mother was she good. She was easily the best dancer of the day. Maybe even better than Samantha and Katie.

I scribbled down what I thought of her on my clip board and Izzy and Maia did the same on there's. When the song ended I stepped back up onto the bench, "Thank you all for being here today, the list for first cuts should be up outside the girls locker room in a day or so." I smiled and waved a goodbye to the girls those who were on the team and those who tired out. When I turned around I saw Jon standing there with 4 Starbucks drinks in his hand and looking at something behind me. I turned back, confused, to find Camille gathering her stuff getting ready to head out.

"Ooooooh," I said walking up to Jon and poking him in the sides, "Does Johnny have a crush on the new girl?"

"No," he spoke quick and sharp swatting my hands away with his one free one.

"Y'know we're thinking of adding her to the team, she's really good."

"Yeah she is," he responded finally looking at me, "anyway this is yours," Jon told me pointing to the caramel frappiccihno, I smiled a thank you, "and these are for Maia and Iz," he looked around but they seemed to have left already.

I shrugged, "Well their coming over so they can get them when we get home. Why the coffee surprise though?"

"Oh, well when we got on the field coach called and said he couldn't make it and practice was cancelled. So we just played a short game since we had our gear on and headed out. Thought I'd surprise you with your favorite."

I wiped a fake tear from my eye, "You really do care," I threw my arms around him dramatically careful not to spill any of the drinks. I took mine when I pulled away

"Yeah, yeah lets just get going," and with that we were on our way home.

Today when we got home only the usual crew, and Jace, were there. Suppose I should add Jace to the usual crew too, he is Izzy and Alec's cousin and he and Jon seem to really be hitting it off. I sighed inwardly, those two were like five year olds when they got together. The moment they found out they had the same name they turned into two little kids. I shook my head at the amusing memory, and began to walk up the path. They were already inside because most of them knew there was an extra key under a loose stone on the walkway.

We walked inside and everyone was in the kitchen.

"Hey Claudia we're home," Jon yelled out and it rang through the house.

"Hello you two," a voice called from the top of the stairs, "I was just getting the laundry. Anything you need washed?"

Jon and I looked at each other, "No I think we're good, thanks Claudia," I replied smiling kindly at her.

"No problem, I'll be in the laundry room if you need anything." She was about to turn around before she stopped and looked to us, "Oh, and your father left you both a note in the kitchen," I was confused then nodded at her before she disappeared down the hall.

When Jon and I walked into the kitchen we saw the guys raiding the cabinets for whatever snacks they could find and Maia and Izzy sitting at the island on their phones.

"Hey guys," Jon began, "Thought you might want these," he handed Isabelle and Maia theirs respective Starbucks drinks.

Maia sighed exaggeratedly, "Jon you're awesome."

"Agreed," Iz piped up sipping her Classic Chai Crème Frappuccino.

"Nothing for me Jon? Im truly insulted," Magnus said, hanging his head.

"Sorry Mags but I just can't keep up with you, you're always changing your order. But these three, "he gestured Izzy, Maia, and myself, "Same thing every time," he smiled cheekily while we all rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah," I replied walking over to the counter and seeing the envelope dad left for us. He must have been in a rush because the Clary/Jonathan on the outside was in hurried script.

I opened it up and began to read. I screamed in delight.

Everyone looked to me with wide eyes. I laughed a little when I spotted Simon with a half full bag of chips in his hand and a soda in each hand.

"Well what does it say Clare?" Jon pressed.

"Our babies our back," I shouted and bolted out of the room and straight to the garage. They all followed closely behind. Jon was hot on my heels already knowing what I was talking about.

The lot of us entered the 4 car garage and saw them sitting there. My custom matte black Ducati 848 with one of my own drawings neatly on its left side. It was a symbol that came to me, basically, in a dream, though it might have been more of a daydream. Anyways it was a symbol that meant fearless I painted it in ombré, metallic at the very top and then fading to white as it went to the bottom. Jon's on the other hand was a Cagiva V-Raptor 1000 and it was black and deep blue, glossy through and through.

"But they weren't supposed to be back for another month," Jon said still in shock. But he had a point after my accident this summer my bike was wrecked, Jon's bike needed a tune up as well. Because of this we sent it out for repairs, but the only people we entrusted with out motorcycles was one of our dad's mechanic friends, Halvar ... in Switzerland.

"I know, " I replied as Jace stepped up admiring the bikes, mostly mine.

"She's beautiful," he spoke admiring the fearless 'rune' as I had come accustomed to calling any of these symbols that I drew.

"Thanks," I replied, with my cheeks possibly tinted their lightest shade of pink.

"So Morgenstern, when do I get to have a spin?" Jordan questioned me, I turned to his smirking face.

"Never, last time I let you, you almost crashed into a tree."

"Yes but it was you who did the crashing, remember?"

"You crashed?" Jace inquired standing from his kneeling position nearest Jon's bike.

"Ow," Jordan hissed as Maia smacked him in the shoulder, he knew exactly why I crashed. But he just had to have a brain fart.

"Maybe...?" I said, my voice a few octaves too high.

Maia snorted and I threw a glare in her direction, to which she held her hands up in surrender, "hey don't give me that I was just leaving," she replied with an innocent smile, "C'mon Izzy, Si let's leave the kids to play with their toys."

Jon and I both rolled out eyes at her, "I think we'll be joining you," Magnus inquired grabbing Alec's hand.

"We?" Alec said looking to Magnus like a child who's mother just took his favorite toy from him. Alec loved these bikes just as much as Jon and I.

"Yes we, I need your help with party planning."

"But, but," Alec sighed, "Fine," he walked out sulking slightly as Magnus threw one arm over his shoulder and they all exited the garage.

"Then there were three." I commented, looking between Jace and Jon.

"Yep. So what's this about you crashing?" Jace questioned turning to face me. I look of what could have been concern on his face.

"Umm, it's nothing really," I answered quickly and coughed nervously, glancing at Jon for help.

Jon looked at me sorrowfully before turning to Jace, who had an eyebrow raised in curiosity. I pouted inwardly because it seemed like no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get it to work out, it was two eyebrows or neither.

"Yeah, it's whatever, wasn't that bad. Right Clare?" Jon inquired and I nodded at them both. Though I was keeping my eyes on the Ducati, I could feel Jace's golden eyes boring into the side of my head. Boy could I use an escape right now.

"Well I guess I'll leave you two to the admiring, I'm going to help them with the party planning. Oh and Jon we'll have to give Halvar a thank you call later on," He nodded and I turned on my heel and walked out of the garage, making my way to the basement where I knew my friends would be gathered, letting out a sigh of relief as the garage door closed behind me.
