A/N: Not the original chapter 9, but figured that after two years, I should actually add this.
Chapter 9
Raditz was surprised by the greeting, and was at a lost of words at the sight of the woman claiming to be her daughter when her daughter's name was Beetra, and definitely not "Gene".
"I can't blame you for forgetting since you were a ghost during Froze's and my childhood. But mom, it's really me. Beetra! Gene is just my cover name since I'm an intergalactic cop thanks to the court you helped create with the supreme kais and whatnot!" Beetra laid it all out with her monkey-like smile, and brown eyes twinkling with familiarity and love.
Raditz was greatly bewildered by what she was told. She created an intergalactic court with the supreme kais who were supposed to be looking for the former kai responsible for her current gendered state? Raditz uncomfortably let the information sink in.
She remembered giving birth to Beetra, and now she was here before her for what felt like the first time since that event. "I'm sorry. I can't remember anything after my death." She took her seat. "Is Froze..."
"He's with Dad, and I mean uncle Tarble, and aunt Gure! He's completely fine! We picked him up after your death, and if you're still second-guessing if I'm you're daughter, then well..." She removed her headband, revealing the black spikes that stood just like Vegeta's. Her daughter smiled uncomfortably. "You know how in the saiyan genes, the hairstyle never changes...unfortunately." She muttered the last part.
Raditz stared at her hair, and strangely enough she saw both her brother and Vegeta in the woman. It felt so nostalgic, but also slightly misplaced.
Beetra quickly put her hairband on as she grieved, "I know it looks weird! But my hair won't grow, and you'll remember when I tried to get a cute pixie hair cut, but my hair grew back the same way a few seconds later!" laughed Beetra at the memories. "Anyway, the food is great here! Yamcha bought me here many times! When you were a ghost, you approved of our relationship, and dad and aunt Gure were totally on board, too!"
Raditz smiled at her. She began to believe this woman to be her daughter, so naturally grabbed her hands. "Well for whatever is worth from my current memories, I do, but WHY him?"
Beetra giggled uncontrollably before responding, "Like we told everyone from the party, we met at the beach, and he was charming and cute. Scared of me when he realized that I was a Saiyan God, but afterwards and now, I love every second I'm with him. Even during our very rare arguments! And those-"
"What?" Raditz almost missed what her daughter just said.
"Huh?" Beetra wasn't sure of what she said that was confusing.
"You...You said that you were a God? A saiyan God?"
"Yeah! But naturally! Not like Uncle Goku or my bio(logical) dad. I was born a God like Froze."
Raditz knew that she was a defect of her kind, but to naturally give birth to a God?! Especially in the stressful conditions that she was in?!
The mother needed a moment to breathe in the information. "Ho-How...How did I give birth to a God?!" She questioned in breathless disbelief. "I was told that Froze became a god when he was born, but I thought that that was because Frieza's and my genes were compatible in making one! But now YOU AND FROZE?! And you have different fathers! What kind of womb do I ha-"
"Mom! MOM! Calm down. You didn't react like this the first time we figured out that we were gods. It wasn't the most exciting moment. I guess if you did figure out the way you did before, you'd totally pull the calm, wise mother role..." Beetra's usual smiling face slowly let the tips of her lips fall downward. Her eyes filled with remorse. Raditz who still had her daughter's hands squeezed them.
She looked down at those rough yet strong hands. As she did, she paused when she began to see memories flood inside her mind. She began to remember what happened to her in hell.
She had been given mercy by the Ogre King and Kais from being put into Hell. Instead she was allowed to work with the Supreme Kai, and in two years created a court of justice. After doing that, Beetra was given a necklace that allowed Raditz to wander as a ghost to be with her children. Froze was still practically only a year old, and Beetra was fourteen.
Raditz also remembered when Beetra's god-like powers reached to full bloom after she discovered her mother's sordid, horrifying past. Several planets were destroyed, and the teen had become frightened of herself.
Now her daughter was already over thirty, and still visibly haunted by the destruction she caused. Raditz's heart reached out to her, and it had her place a comforting hand on her daughter's cheek. The daughter she now remembered.
Beetra looked right into Raditz's eyes to see that her mother came back. "MOM!" She leaped up from her chair to float in the air so she could completely glomp her.
Raditz smiled softly as she began to feel her true self settle into her body. She wrapped her arms around the woman she had raised for nearly twenty years. So many memories that she regretted losing, but also some memories that she wished would stay away.
She shoved her pessimistic feelings, and soaked in the love that Beetra felt for her. "I'm sorry for forgetting."
"It's okay! As long as you remember! As long as you come back, it's all okay! Froze would love to see you! But he's kinda busy with his job for the court, and I have to leave for three days after this. A big war is happening, and I have to be the diplomat that you trained me to be!" The daughter said proudly.
Raditz was proud as well. Then she began to recollect on how she acted the past few months after she revived. She covered the upper part of her face in shame. "I acted like an irrational slut while I was revived." She confessed. "And you saw me on the internet! You're obviously the one who told Gohan to talk to me! I'm not ashamed for the video, but you must've been traumatized to see me in such lewd positions!"
Beetra uncomfortable corrected, "Uh, yeah no, not exactly. I mean I only saw the thumbnail for the video! And I wasn't looking up porn!"
"Beetra, it's okay to watch porn. Just remember that the porn stars fake their pleasures. I did the same in my video so the men could pay me more."
"Seriously? But the guys don't right?"
"How can they? I mean in real life I know a few guys who'd pretend to have an orgasm to not hurt their women's feelings, but their job in bed is not that complicated to gain their own pleasures."
"Guys fake their orgasms, too?" The intergalactic cop who had been more interested in fighting instead of sex was fascinated by this new knowledge.
"Yes, but that's only because some men have this problem where they lose their boner in the middle of having sex, or it takes them a really long time to get the sperm out, but are unable to continue because their bed partner is too exhausted." Raditz said from experience.
"Woooow! I didn't think sex could be that complicated. Yamcha has loads of experience. I'm a bit self conscious of how I'll perform. I'm not the type to do it until marriage, but Yamcha said that it was best to wait so it can be special. I didn't understand, but when I started to think about it, the more anxious I am about it. I don't even know what a woman's orgasms supposed to look like!"
"I think what's more important for your first time is how you will handle your strength."
"Hm?"
"Sex requires the both of you to touch each other, and when you're both excited, it can rile you up to act reckless. You might accidentally snap him!"
"Oh! You're right! Oh kami! I'm gonna kill Yamcha on our honeymoon!"
"Not unless you're god powers are lowered. Luckily, our technology can help you."
The engaged woman sighed in relief. "Thanks mom. It feels like old times, except last time we talked, we were talking about what types of assassinations should take place in order to move the order of events in our favor. Yamcha thinks our conversations are weird."
"That's his problem. And Beetra, if you need anymore advice on this, then don't hesitate to come to me. It's less awkward and less misguiding than having to talk to your friends, or for dear kami, Tarble and Gure. I remember when you told me the story of how he tried to explain sex through comparing it with the mating of the alien species: Jiquatos."
Beetra snorted cutely. "I didn't understand a word he said that day."
"That's a good thing. Otherwise you would've done it all wrong."
The two continued to talk about several things such as what Raditz had been doing and what he thought about Goku and everyone else. Beetra informed her mother about how she and the rest are doing, and also how the court was doing.
"I'm so glad to hear that you and uncle Goku are doing great! Are you going to tell him about me?"
"Not yet. Telling him might inform Vegeta about you. I believe its best that none of them except for perhaps Bulma. She already knows about my past, and is keeping it a secret from your biological father. I may also tell Grimes and Patrick."
"Not to be rude, but it's kind of weird hearing that you made some human friends here without any ulterior motive behind it." Beetra couldn't help gushing, "It makes me happy knowing that you have people to rely on other than me and Froze! And they haven't hurt you or anything, so I really am happy." She blushed with a cute, big smile.
Raditz swore that no matter how old her daughter became, the saiyan goddess would always remain so youthful in soul. She softly agreed, "Me too."
After having their meal, they remained together for the entire day until Beetra had to leave.
When she did, Raditz immediately told Bulma, Grimes and Patrick after she was down with her Burlesque show.
"Gene is your daughter?!" Bulma and Patrick said simultaneously. Grimes sipped on his beer. It was like watching a classic drama television show.
Patrick continued, "So you mean that the guy who Bulma dated is going to marry your daughter who is not only Beetra, the daughter you gave up for adoption, but also is a super saiyan goddess!"
"The way you put it, it sounds ridiculous." Raditz commented with an unspoken yes.
Bulma added, "So you can really give birth to gods?!"
Raditz nodded. "But that doesn't matter anymore. I don't plan on ever having another child. For now, I just want to live my days to the end on Earth."
Grimes inquired, "What about this court you made?"
"It's put into good hands, but if anyone is screwing with it, and no one have the brains to stop it, then I'll handle it."
Bulma was enthused by these facts. "Now that I heard about what you did in the afterlife, I see you almost as an entirely different woman, Raditz! It's kind of weird seeing you as a Burlesque dancer when you have such great gifts like me to give so much more."
Grimes snorted, "Where's the fun in reading documents and dealing with idiots who think they can bend the rules with some semantics or culture traditions bullshit. Not when you can just do a fun, sexy job where no one gives a damn about every detail about you."
Patrick explained, "Grimes had bad experiences with courts because his parents were made to attend."
"It wasn't terrible. I actually learned a lot about how to be a smartass."
Everyone laughed.
Raditz couldn't help thinking on her daughter's words at that moment. She had friends without ulterior motives. She had friends.
._._._.
Raditz wasn't crazy about music or singing, but it was what helped cheer her up throughout her life time since it was the only thing from her Saiyan heritage that she had a firm grasp on other than her tail. It's also because she loved hearing herself speak without sounding crazy.
Right now she was currently singing at the auto shop that Yamcha was working at while her daughter was away. A future-mother-in-law needs to spend time with her future-son-in-law. Raditz remembered how Beetra introduced them to each other, and they were all aware of how Yamcha already knew the ghost of a saiyan. It was a somewhat awkward moment, but bygones were bygones, and Yamcha appreciated the hard work that the woman went through.
Their relationship is a distant but good-nature one. They had nothing else to discuss other than Beetra, and they didn't feel obligated to know each other further than that. Just for Yamcha to be kept tabs on, and Raditz to give him advice when he's having trouble with Beetra or other stuff that the woman could help him with.
The two planned to reconnect during dinner after he was done with work, so Raditz patiently waited while singing her favorite Earth songs that ranged from jazz to R&B.
The other workers in the shop either continued to work while moving one of their body parts to her voice. Some just stopped working altogether to listen to her.
When she was done, there was an applause for her which she appreciated. Then a loud, ringing voice cracked through the fulfilling atmosphere. "Oh Wowza, wowza! You have quite the voice on you! And quite the tail on you too! I am Alicia MacKenter! A talent scout looking for dazzling singers like you for our company! Here is my card." The scout said with a cheerful, yet oddly also professional tone.
Raditz took her card out of amusement. "Thank you, but I already work at a Burlesque."
"A burlesque?" The scout became amused as well. "Then you already have your first foot to make it through the door of becoming a star." She said promisingly.
Though Raditz was not biting. She knew well enough from the books, magazines and newspapers she'd read that becoming a celebrity was not a private lifestyle. "I'm sorry, but I have no desire to become the next hot mess in front of a magazine cover."
"Oh but you won't have to be! There's a lot of respectable singers, and you just ooze with feminine strength and power that will surely make you a role model for women all over the world!"
"I believe a certain Bulma Briefs is already a good role model for girls around the world. She's not only a CEO, but also a beautiful and brilliant inventor. What could I possibly give that she hasn't already for females?" Raditz, as a mother, already considered herself as a positive role model for her own daughter Beetra. She wasn't sure if she cared for other Earthling daughters except for Marron.
The talent scout seemed conflicted by this obvious rejection, but she knew talent when she saw it, so tried harder. "It is true that Bulma Briefs is a wonderful role model for women everywhere, but not every girl wishes to become a woman like her or do something related to what she does! After all science and art are on the same field, but at different areas of interests! The world of inspiration needs women of different appearances to assure variety of beauty in the media! You certainly also appear to be the type who don't care for others' opinions which makes you perfect for the tough lifestyle on the esteem for celebrities!"
Raditz felt slightly swayed. She did feel like she had had too much time on her hands, and that she could use a challenge. "You know what. I'm in. When's the auditions?"
"What?!" Yamcha hit his head against the car that he was working on.
The scout ignored him. "Great! I'll schedule your audition this Saturday! Is that okay?!"
"I'll free up my schedule. Tata." She waved goodbye to the scout who went to do her job.
Yamcha finished up his job, and slid out from under the car. He took a clean rag to wipe his dirty face. "Were you serious when you said that you'd give this celebrity stuff a shot?"
"I'm bored." Raditz said as it that held all the answers. She elaborated, "I may not be the typical saiyan, but I still retain my urge to be challenged. I can't last forever in this dull, peaceful life."
"I...guess I understand. Celebrity life can be hard. What with haters, the paparazzi, and even crazy fans invading your privacy."
"And it will be my patients and my wits challenged by these imminent weak foes. So...shall we attend dinner?"
While Yamcha was first cleaning himself up, Raditz messaged the people she tolerated about it from her phone that was practically a mini computer. Everyone who actually had a phone were shocked and some were excited for her.
Bulma was definitely excited that Raditz was aiming to do something fun but difficult. Goten asked what types of songs she'll sing. Trunks wanted to know how she got the gig. Grimes warned her about what happens to people when their fame depletes. Patrick wished her luck.
Yamcha really questioned on her choice to become a star. It just seemed so out of place for him. He had talked to Raditz for nearly a decade, and that ghost version always came off as serious as any politician who took his job seriously. But then when he came to reason that now that Raditz stopped working for the court, this must be a new side that came out like a curve ball that he had to bat for either way.
They reconnected by only talking about Turles, Gure, Froze and Beetra, and also about future plans such as marriage and children. Raditz gave helpful advice to Yamcha which he took in wisely.
After that, she visited Kibito Kai through using the instant transmission. She was well aware of the Yardrat race's techniques, so it was easy to do.
"Raditz! You're back!" The fused Kai said with an overjoyed expression once she appeared.
She smiled at the fused diety. "I am, so we could refresh our bond. I had required my memories during my death, and I can tell by the lack of a third Kai that you haven't found her yet."
"So-Sorry! I'm trying my hardest, but it's a vast universe after all! We'll a-"
"I understand." Raditz told him with a reassuring smile. The two had become coworkers with a friendship of sorts. "You all have your separate duties. Especially after we created the court. And you should already know that I don't plan on coming back unless it's an emergency."
"Yes! Yes! But I must say that I'm surprised that you would choose to live such a peaceful lifestyle."
"I guess you can say it grew on me. I had fixed my relationship with my brother and created a bond with others on Earth. As much as I miss the rush and excitement of traveling through space, I don't miss the annihilation of species and planets, or dealing with idiotic politicians and royalties. My saiyan days were behind me after my death, and it will remain behind me now."
"If it means anything, I'm happy for you. Me and the kais will definitely find the Former Center Supreme Kai and bring her to the courts for justice." He promised.
Raditz smiled a proud smirk for the shorter purple kai. "Good. She made me into a woman for a reason, and I'm afraid that I may already know the reason why."
Kibito Kai scowled at this fear. "I'm afraid that I know as well, but the finer details elude me."
"It'll come in time. Now, let's shove business to the side like old times, and have tea. We have much to catch up on since my forced resurrection."
"I'll be honored to drink tea with you again, Raditz." The kai said humbly.
The two prepared the table and sat to drink their tea while chatting like mutually respected acquaintances. The Elder Kai found them, and felt his youthful soul revived at the sight of Raditz's new form up close! She punched the daylights out of him when he lunged himself at her. Kibito Kai apologized for him, and she accepted it. The two continued to converse while the old man was left unconscious on the ground.
Raditz knew that she needed a manager. Luckily, she knew Grimes could fill the job. The tattoo artist agreed to the position since he figured it would be a good thing to add to his resume when he applies for other jobs outside of giving tattoos. He also thought it would be fun to finally boss people around as a employee.
"So what are you going to sing?" Patrick asked while he drove Grimes and Raditz to the music company building. Raditz was to sing in front of a group of people, and if they liked her, they would start with getting her known and making music.
"I will sing whatever I feel like singing." The saiyan replied while reading a book that Kibito Kai lend to her. "These people just want to be wowed, and that isn't hard considering your kind's standards."
Grimes snorted. "It's a good thing you were raised in a culture of bitches. You'll need that attitude to mercilessly reach the top." He kidded, but seemed serious, too. More fame meant more money.
Raditz reminded him. "It's just a job until I get tired of it. I already went over the facts with Ms. MacKenter that I'll most likely just give her a one-hit wonder before moving on to whatever will amuse me. She was upset, but then I reasoned with her that at least her company will have the first alien star. It'll make their company look like they are far more advanced than the rest."
The three of them arrived, and Patrick was given the time of when to pick them up later.
After that, Raditz and Grimes entered the building and found MacKenter walking across the lounge. The scout was thrilled to see her, and was not bothered by Raditz's choice of a manager since this was temporary. She escorted them to a room where several people were sitting on couches.
They all looked like they had something better to do than this, and weren't all that impressed at the sight off her having a tail or various tattoos. She wasn't bothered by their disinterest. She just began to sing.
"Congratulations!" Bulma threw a party on a cruise ship for Raditz's success in becoming a singer! Raditz honestly didn't want there to be a party, but she figured that it would be a good time for everyone to be spoiled with food.
Beetra was unable to make it to the party since she was needed out there. Raditz reassured her that it was okay, and for her to take her time.
She was commonly asked of why she chose to become a celebrity which she replied that she was bored.
Chichi warned her to not become one of those promiscuous women she saw on the ads. Raditz made no promises. She didn't mind showing her body off after all. However, her porn days were left behind.
Bulma apologized for Vegeta not arriving. Raditz understood. She also felt childish for how she talked to Vegeta and reacted to his words. She hoped that the two of them could remain this distant. The last thing she ever wanted was to hurt her prince.
Later that night, everyone was asleep at their own luxurious rooms. Raditz was still awake and stood at the bow of the cruise ship whilst staring at the stars.
"Raditz?" Goku appeared beside her. "Is something wrong?"
The woman shook her head, and looked at her younger, half brother with a smile of content. Raditz made him fight many villains without her help to become this strong. Now her brother was nearly at the level of a god. "I'm just thinking, Kakarot. How is your training?"
"Great! But I don't think I'm really getting anywhere since Chichi has me planting radishes." The two siblings fell into a comfortable silence until Goku confessed, "Are you sure that nothing happened because you seem different."
Raditz not sure if she should be surprised by that. She countered that with a question, "I could say the same thing about you, little brother. You've been acting strange since a few days ago. What happened?"
Goku remembered his trip to the past that Raditz had long forgotten. He decided not to tell about that because he figured that what was important was not to try to convince his sister that he met her child self, but instead he should be reassuring her that she isn't alone.
He made this promising gesture by holding her hand. Raditz wanted to question this, but she saw that the both of them wasn't going to confess, so she grasped that hand back.
Goku replied without a shred of doubt or dishonesty, "I'm just happy that you're here, and willing to stay with us."
Raditz felt her chest warm up by those words. She was home. "Me too." She ruffled his hair and gave Goku a kiss on his temple, and then confessed, "I love you, little brother."
"I love you, too." Goku gave his foolish grin which Raditz returned with a pleasant smirk.
Since that day, Raditz had become increasingly popular in a short amount of time after featuring in a few popular celebrities' music videos before having her own official album that sold like wildfire. She was idolized for her curvy tall body, fierce yet gentle personality, and her intelligence that knocked people off their pedestals and she remained the queen on her throne.
Raditz's type of music videos were sexy, but also meaningful most of them were pleasant to watch even for kids. She was asked to sing at various places, attend many events, and act as a spokesperson for several products. She avoided the ones that would show her wearing only underwear or lingerie since she didn't want to embarrass Goten or anger Chichi. She also quite the ones that demanded her to look too sexual or provocative.
Raditz had as many haters just as she had many fans.
In a few months, she began her concert tour around the world.
Beetra was rooting for her from wherever she was in space. The universe really had a lot of problems for her to take care of, but she definitely promised to come back within three days to watch one of her concerts.
"You looked amazing out there. Did you even break a sweat?" Grant complimented Raditz after she was done with one of her many concert shows.
The saiyan star smirked at him. "Should you even ask. That was nothing, but I got to admit that I do adore a cheering crowd. I'm going to my dressing room to freshen up."
"I'll be expecting you to be in the RV within an hour." Grimes reminded her before she entered the room.
She sat down at her vanity table with her hair tied up to remove her makeup, drink a lot of water, and wipe the little sweat she did have. While she was cleaning herself up, she looked at the pictures of her family and friends around her mirror. Content washed over her, and she was definitely looking forward to a nice deep sleep.
That content was stripped from her when she heard a familiar, dreadful sound from an intruding device. She knew that sound from her time in Frieza's reign. She tried to escape, but a bright light overwhelmed her body and took her away from that room. Only a ball of Raditz's ki remained.
