Evelyn lay in bed as the sun came up. Despite the fact that she had been up all night, she could not fall asleep. She wondered if she had finally completely lost it. What if by 20 years old she had officially lost her mind?

The whole thing seemed so unreal and yet it was the only time things seemed to make sense. As crazy as it was, only in the presence of Sirius had she felt the most sane than she had felt since she was a teenager.

He was gone now though. He had some urgent business that he had to attend to. She wondered what it was. What if he was just a madman? What if she was getting herself into trouble?

She remembered every word he said about their past together. She couldn't remember any of it. It was only when she was close to him that she remembered glimpses and peaks into the past. It felt so very real. It was unbearable the way she wanted to see him again but what if it was all a lie? What if she dreamt the whole thing up? She desperately tried to fall asleep to prove that it was real and not a dream.

Sirius's leg bounced up and down for the entirety of the Order meeting. Despite being utterly exhausted, he could not relax.

"Black! Stop moving that leg before I hex it off." Mad-eye Moody growled from the other end of the table.

"Oh, shut it Mad-eye." Sirius said irritably.

"I think that will conclude today's meeting." Said Gideon Prewett, sensing the tension.

Members of the Order rose up with yawns and stretches but Sirius sat at the table, his leg bouncing, his hands folded as he stares intently at the knotted wood table.

"Sirius?" A quiet voice said next to him. "You seem troubled."

Sirius glanced up at Remus, one of closest friends and realized he could never tell him. Remus would call him a fool, reckless, call him out on endangered the pair of them, or worst of all threatening the Order.

"Just tired." Sirius said in his best carefree voice.

He wondered if he should tell James. James had known Evelyn. But with a sinking feeling, Sirius knew the only reaction he would get be a negative one. He was in this all alone.

.

Evelyn sat in the restaurant she had worked in as a teenager. It had changed owners and was now completely different. Still, Evelyn glanced around and had memories of being there, both before and after everything got blurry. She had been here with Sirius. This is where they met. That's why he wanted to meet here.

Suddenly, he swooped in wearing a t-shirt with a large golden bird on it. He spotted Evelyn immediately and his face split into a smile.

"How did you remember?"

"Er, what?"

"The table. This is the table where we first talked."

"Oh," Evelyn said softly as she ran her hand against the tabletop. This had always been her favorite table. Her heart gave a sudden lurch. Was it her favorite table for that very reason? "I...I just like this table." She stuttered.

Sirius sat down and Evelyn noticed the bags under his eyes. She had never seen someone more exhausted. They put in their food orders and sat in silence. Evelyn had the impression that if anyone was looking at them, they'd think it was the worst date there ever was. Was it even a date?

"How was your day?" Evelyn asked.

"Utterly exhausting. With everything that's happening, I haven't slept in days."

"Yeah, me neither."

Sirius looked at her a slight frown forming on his face.

"I'm sorry you haven't slept. That's my fault."

"It's okay. I'm rather used to it." Evelyn said lightly.

Sure, Sirius had told his story by she hadn't told hers. She didn't tell him that she was by all means utterly insane. That she had been in hospitals and mental wards and was used to going days, even weeks without sleeping.

Sirius accepted his food with a smile and then looked around.

"This place is different." He commented.

"Well, things change." Evelyn said sadly.

Sirius looked at her. She had certainly changed. The fiery, funny, smart girl that he had once known seemed to be hidden away deep down inside of her. That was his fault too. Surely, he had to help her achieve being that person again. It was like he had made a decision. The reason he had found Evelyn again was to bring her back to herself.

Sirius looked at her with a determined look: "well tonight we both have to get a good night's sleep."

A sudden vision of Evelyn at 16 flashed into his mind. Sound asleep under a tree, with a twig under her head.

"After all, after spending a night sleeping on the grass, a regular old night should be no problem." He said with a smile.

Evelyn frowned at him as she noted that his smile transformed his face.

"Um, I don't..."

"That's one I didn't tell you. We went to a party together and rather enjoyed ourselves and ended up sleeping on the girls lawn."

Evelyn's eyes widened. She spent the night outside with this boy at 16? What did her mother have to say about that?

"That doesn't seem right," Evelyn managed a smile. "I'm a light sleeper.

There's no way I could have done that."

"You did with me," Sirius shrugged. "I do bring out the best in people." He added with a smug tone.

Evelyn laughed. Sirius froze as he stared at her smile and laugh. He hadn't heard that in years and it looked and sounded impossibly good.

"Well, I guess we will just have to see about that."

"There is a way," Sirius said slowly. "What if...maybe. Maybe tonight I can stay at your flat? Just to help each other sleep."

Evelyn was alarmed. This man wanted to spend the night at her place. But she remembered the ease she felt around him, the fact that she had just laughed. Sure it would be crazy but wasn't Evelyn already crazy?

"I, um, only have 1 bed."

Sirius raised his eyebrow and gave Evelyn a look that almost made her blush. She moved her food around her plate suppressing a smile as her heart beat in her chest.

"But I have a couch."

"Fine. It's settled you'll sleep on the couch and I'll take the bed." Sirius said.

Evelyn laughed again and suddenly felt nothing but excitement, all her apprehension evaporating with her smile.
