Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or Dragon Ball Z
The rest of the week had passed quickly and before Gohan or the others realized it, it was Saturday February 14th more commonly known as Valentine's Day, but what made this day really important to Gohan was the fact that he and Hermione would have their first date at the three broomsticks today. This fact alone would be enough to explain just why Gohan's room was such a mess, clothes thrown haphazardly around the room, covering the floor. The young saiyan had just about run out of options when he noticed a single box resting at the very bottom of his trunk, with a small yellow sticky note attached to the top. It was with an almost shaking hand that Gohan lifted the note off the top of the box.
"Hey Gohan I figured knowing you, you wouldn't have any clothes for your date with Hermione, so I thought I'd make sure you did. Your ever awesome godmother Bulma." Gohan couldn't help but to chuckle after reading that note, leave it to Bulma to make sure that he has everything he needs for his date.
"Gotta remember to thank her for all this" Gohan stated as he lifted the top of the box, to find a pair of black cargo pants, a blue polo t-shirt as well as a long sleeved burnt orange over shirt. Knowing that he didn't have very long before he was supposed to meet Hermione at the great hall so they could depart together Gohan was quick to change his clothes.
Up in the girls dormitory of the Gryffindor tower Hermione found herself in a similar predicament, just like Gohan she had dozens of shirts, pants, and skirts thrown haphazardly onto her bed, any other time the studious girl would have been quick to remedy the mess but at the present moment all she cared about was finding the proper outfit for her first date with Gohan. Unknown to the bushy haired brunette though a pair of girls stood just inside the room watching in amusement, and curiosity, after all in all the time they had shared a dormitory with the studious girl they had never seen her so beside herself.
"Um Hermione, are you okay" the slightly taller of the two asked. Hermione stopped for but a second as she looked at the two girls, before returning to what she was doing.
"No Lavender I'm not, I can't find anything to wear" Hermione responded throwing yet another article of clothing onto her bed.
"Anything to wear for what" the second girl asked while looking from Hermione to Lavender, wondering if the other girl knew anymore then she did.
"My date Pavarti, I can't find anything to wear for my date" Hermione said irritation clear in her voice as she looked at the other girl for a second before returning to her furious digging. Hermione's exploration was interrupted yet again only this time it was by the sound of the other two girl's squeals, before they quickly grabbed Hermione, Lavender quickly pulling her towards one of the mirrors on the far side of the room.
"Pavarti find her a suitable out fit, I'll handle her makeup." Lavender all but commanded Pavarti was quick to oblige though ruffling through Hermione's clothes. Before Hermione could even begin arguing against the rather forceful girls though Lavender had already began applying the make-up.
Twenty minutes later found Hermione standing in a pair of black leggings, a skirt and one of her nicer sweaters, make-up lightly applied to her face. She couldn't help but to smile at her fellow Gryffindor's.
"Thanks for the help you two." Hermione said with appreciation, before hurrying out of Gryffindor tower and towards the great hall.
It had been nearly twenty minutes since Gohan had arrived at the great hall and still there was no sign of Hermione. This was beginning to make Gohan nervous, thoughts of why the girl hadn't arrived beginning to race through his head. The young warrior was just beginning to consider leaving when his sensitive saiyan hearing picked up the sound of rapid footsteps approaching him. Turning quickly Gohan was met with a sight that forced him to stare. Running towards the stunned young man was Hermione, before finally coming to a stop in front of the stunned warrior.
"sorry I'm late Gohan" Hermione stated as she looked at the young man, she couldn't help but to turn away slightly though as she realized that Gohan was staring at her, "um is something wrong Gohan" she asked, somewhat fearful of the males answer.
"You look amazing Hermione" Gohan said softly, while looking away somewhat embarrassed his cheeks stained red.
"Oh thank you" Hermione responded as she too looked away, cheeks tinged pink. Both stood there awkwardly for a minute until finally Gohan turned and popped his elbow out for Hermione, the girl was quick to loop her arm with his before they both started walking towards the main hallway, so that they could head towards the massive front doors and then to Hogsmead.
Many students could be seen making their way out of the main doors so that they could go and enjoy Hogsmead, standing to the side of those doors was one Harry Potter, watching as the many students whose parents had signed their permission slips made their way out of the castle, the lightning scared boy had seen Gohan and Hermione leave arm-and-arm earlier. His anger at Gohan hadn't faded in the least since the twos last conversation, he was just about to head towards the boy's dormitory so that he could grab his father's cloak and head for one of the numerous secret passages when a rather snide voice interrupted him.
"Potter, the headmaster wishes to see you in his office." Snape stated from behind him, catching the younger male by surprise. Harry simply nodded before heading off towards the headmasters office.
Harry's journey was a short one as the boy had been to Dumbledore's office enough times to know the shortest path, so in no time at all Harry found himself standing in front to the stone gargoyle that guarded the stairs to the headmaster's office.
"Sherbet lemon" Harry stated figuring that the password hadn't changed from the previous year. His assumption was proven correct seconds later when the large stone gargoyle moved out of the way, revealing the spiraling stone staircase that led to Dumbledore's office.
Harry had been in Dumbledore's office a number of times and just like every other time he found himself looking around at the numerous magical objects that were strewn across the room. It didn't take long for Harry to realize that Dumbledore wasn't in the office at the moment, so deciding to pass the time looking around the youth began wandering around the room, until his green eyes fell upon a large stone basin that rested against one of the many walls. Without realizing it Harry began walking slowly towards the basin almost as if it was calling to him, he simply stared into the water like substance, silver white streaks running through it. With each passing second Harry seemed to look further and further into the basin, unaware of the fact that he was actually lowering his head further and further towards the basin until with a small splash his face met the liquid.
Harry stood frozen as he looked around him, the lightning scared boy found himself standing inside what appeared to be a ball shaped room, as he took in his surroundings he noticed that he wasn't the only one there, there were three other people one was a young boy his black hair falling in a bowl cut style, in a weird blue body suit with some form of body armor on his chest. The young seven year old if Harry had to guess at the boys age, was standing not too far from a strange green skinned man, Harry could only assume this man was severely sick, but more than that Harry could see that the green man was very injured, judging by his clothing as well as the small hole in his left shoulder. The lightning scared boy's eyes fell on the third and final person in the room, it was a female a few years older than him, wearing a black body suit with a strange yellow dress like thing over it, she had blue hair, but the strangest thing was the fact that she seemed like a slightly younger Bulma Briefs, in fact the seven year old boy looked kind of like Gohan too. Harry had just taken a step closer to the younger boy when the youth stood up surprising the unsuspecting teen.
"It's over" the youth said in shock.
"What, what do you mean its over." The bluenette all but screeched from behind them.
"My dad's power signal I can't sense it, it's gone" the seven years old responded
"What, what does that mean" the woman asked, worry evident in her voice
"It means that, that he dead" the boy responded, Harry was barely able to suppress the gasp of shock from leaving his lips, how could this boy make a comment like that so calmly.
"No hey that can't be." The woman stated, but Harry could somewhat hear the desperation in her voice, before his green eyes traveled back to the boy, who simply stood there silently.
"I hate to say it Gohan but if your dads been defeated then it's time we get the heck out of here while we still can." The woman stated. Harry simply stood frozen staring at the young boys back, could it be, he had thought the boy looked similar to Gohan but could he actually be the same person that he'd just seen leaving the school with Hermione, only years younger, and would that then make the bluenette really a younger Bulma Briefs.
"Gohan" she stated questioningly as she looked back at the young boy, Harry's green eyes followed the youth as he walked towards what Harry could only guess was a door. The young Gohan stopped for only a second to look back towards the unconscious green skinned man before mumbling something and then nodding his head as if agreeing to something.
"Gohan are you okay, I know it's hard but we've gotta go." Bulma stated as she simply looked at the boy.
"I'm staying Bulma, your gonna have to leave with Piccolo" Gohan stated proving Harry's suspicions correct somehow or other, he'd been transported back in time, but what was going on.
"what hey this isn't funny" Bulma all but screamed at the young boy, and at the same time Harry found himself staring at Gohan's back still unsure just what was going on.
"I'm part Saiyan Bulma, Frieza's gonna hunt me down where ever I go, the last thing I wanna do is lead him back to earth, I don't wanna be a danger to anybody, I know what I've gotta do." Harry couldn't help but to stare at the young Gohan's back in shock, not only because it seemed that they weren't on earth, in fact that was currently the furthest thing from Harry's mind, no what surprised the lightning scared youth the most was the fact that it seemed that Gohan was willing to die to protect others at such a young age.
"That's nonsense lets go" Bulma all but commanded the younger boy, but Harry watched in slight shock as Gohan reached forward and pressed a single button causing the strange door to open. "You're not sure that he's going to follow you, you really should get out of here before it's too late." her statement was somewhat disrupted by the large influx of air from the door opening, "Gohan no" Bulma screamed as she lifted a hand to try and block the wind, but even with the massive rush of air all Harry could do was to stare at Gohan's back. "You can't put this all on yourself" the blue haired woman all but pleaded.
"Don't worry about me, this is the way that I want it, I'll be alright you take care of Piccolo" Gohan stated a small smile on his face, further shocking Harry, after all how could a seven year old be willing to give his life to protect everyone else, he remembered when he was seven, he certainly wouldn't of been able to head off towards his death just to protect others, and yet here standing before him Gohan was willing to do just that, how why what made Gohan so brave and so selfless.
"Gohan no this is suicide" Bulma yelled obviously hoping to reach some part of the boy's survival instinct.
"No way this is life, Piccolo would understand and so would my dad, besides I don't intend to die, Frieza's bound to be hurting if he was fighting my dad, maybe I can beat him, I've got to give it a try so long." Gohan finished as a white flame like aura surrounded him mere seconds before he shot out of the ship towards what Harry could only guess could have been his death, Harry knew that Gohan would survive the coming fight how he wasn't sure but he knew that he would after all Gohan wouldn't be alive right now if he hadn't right.
Harry continued to stare at the now empty doorway for only a few more seconds before he felt a hand come to rest upon his shoulder, quickly looking behind him Harry's green eyes fell upon the older form of Dumbledore before with a strange pulling sensation Harry found himself being lifted into the air. He couldn't help but to look around in slight shock as he realized that he was once again standing in the headmaster's office staring into at the strange basin. It wasn't until he heard the sound of retreating footfalls that the lightning scared boy turned to see Dumbledore walking back towards his desk, so with one last look at the strange stone basin Harry turned and began to follow the aged wizards lead, taking the seat across from the older man. He was about to ask about the strange basin when Dumbledore beat him to the punch.
"I see you found my Pensieve." Albus stated as he looked at the younger wizard his blue eyes unusually serious.
"Pensieve sir?" Harry asked obviously wondering just what a Pensieve was.
"A very useful object the pensieve, allowing one to look back on their own memories from a different perspective" Dumbledore spoke his voice soft.
"Headmaster" Harry started his confusion obvious to the older wizard, after all Harry was smart enough to realize that those weren't Dumbledore's memories.
"Of course it can also be used to view someone else's memories, as you have just experienced." The headmaster continued.
"So that means, that all really happened" Harry asked a slight quiver in his voice.
"Yes that all really happened" Dumbledore confirmed almost grimly.
"So Gohan, he was really willing to" Harry found that he couldn't even manage to finish the sentence as he thought about what he had just learned.
"Yes, he's a rather unique young man, willing to give his life at such a young age." Dumbledore stated calmly.
"But, he was just a child, so why, how could he be willing to die" Harry couldn't prevent his voice from rising as he spoke, his green eyes pleading with Dumbledore to help him understand.
"Being willing to give your life for others, many that you may not know it's a rare quality, to see a child with that quality at such a young age makes one question the decisions that they themselves might be making." Dumbledore stated as he looked directly at Harry causing the youth to wonder if the older wizard knew what he had been thinking about lately. "Well I believe that I've kept you long enough and I'd hate to prevent you from doing your homework." Dumbledore stated as he turned and began to walk back towards the Pensieve, Harry stared at the older wizards back for a few seconds before he turned and quickly left planning to head for one of the many tunnels that would lead him to Hogsmead, after which he may try and find Gohan so that he could potentially talk with the slightly older teen.
a little over a mile away in the pub known as the Three Broomsticks Gohan and Hermione were currently in the middle of their first date, both sat with large smiles on their faces, it was easy to tell that both of them were having a great time.
"I'll go get us another round" Gohan stated as he stood up before walking towards the bar, the young warrior was so focused on his date that he failed to notice when Harry arrived at the small pub, not that he would of said anything if he had. Gohan couldn't stop his eyes from traveling back to where Hermione was currently sitting, he knew that he didn't have any experience in this area but if he had to take a guess he'd say that the date was going very well. So quickly grabbing the two butterbeers that he'd just ordered Gohan turned and began to walk back towards their table.
Unknown to the young onyx haired teen his bushy haired date was having similar thoughts, Hermione couldn't help but to smile as she looked at her date, the entire thing had been going so smoothly almost like it was straight out of one of those romance novels that she had taken to reading. But even though the date had been going so well Hermione found that there was still one question that had been plaguing her mind of late, and even though she knew that it might not be the best time to ask this style of question, the bushy haired brunette found that not knowing was beginning to drive her crazy. She was still trying to decide whether to ask Gohan or not when the boy reclaimed his seat right across from her while giving her one of the butterbeers, and before she knew what was happening Hermione found herself speaking.
"Gohan what's going on between you and Harry?" Hermione asked before quickly covering her mouth, rather shocked that she'd just ask like that, it was obvious that Gohan was just as shocked as he simply stared at her for a moment before turning to look at his butterbeer a serious expression on his face. Unknown to either Gohan or Hermione, a third person was sitting not too far from them, just as shocked at Hermione as the girl herself was. Harry couldn't believe that Hermione had just up and asked that, but at the same time the lightning scared boy couldn't help but to wonder just what Gohan would say.
"Harry asked me to train him" Gohan stated as he continued to stare at the bottle of butterbeer in his hand.
"Is that a bad thing" Hermione asked somewhat confused.
"If his reason was different, then no it wouldn't be."Gohan responded
"His reason" Hermione asked obviously still confused.
"He wants to learn so that he can get revenge against Sirius Black" Gohan stated somewhat angrily.
"Oh, and because of that you told him no" Hermione whispered as she simply looked at the young man.
"Yeah, he's been angry at me ever since, but he doesn't realize just what revenge can mean." Gohan stated the pain in his voice was obvious.
"Gohan" Hermione asked the curiosity was obvious in her voice as her hand slid across the table to grasp his.
"During the Cell games, once dad had me start fighting Cell, I tried to get him to stop the fighting, I warned him about the power that I had hidden inside me, I hoped it would convince him to stop." Gohan started and it was obvious to Hermione that the boy needed to talk about this. "But instead Cell just wanted to try and bring it out, so he started attacking me trying to bring it out, when he realized that wasn't going to work he attacked my father and friends, eventually I snapped, and Cell got what he wanted. And just like I had warned him I had become stronger than him, in fact for the most part I was simply playing with him." Gohan said, shocking both Harry and Hermione as both remembered just how powerful Cell had seemed to be.
"but that's where the real problem lay, being that powerful I knew that I could destroy Cell, in fact my father begged me to, but I didn't I had all this power and I knew the type of things that Cell had been doing, so I decided I'd punish him for it, I'd get revenge for all those people that Cell had killed, everyone that he'd hurt, and because of that desire both my parents and my unborn younger sibling were killed."Gohan whispered softly moisture already collecting in his eyes. Hermione sat there frozen as she simply stared at the usually strong teen before she gently leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him.
"Shh it's okay Gohan." Hermione whispered as she simply held him. Gohan was the first to break the hug as he gently moved himself away from Hermione.
"That's why I refused to train Harry, if I were to then he might be able to get his revenge but at what cost." Gohan stated the statement caused Hermione to simply stare at Gohan before she lifted her butterbeer towards her lips. Both teens were to absorbed in their thoughts to even notice the slight shimmer in the air as Harry made his way out of the pub, his mind a flurry with thoughts of what he'd just heard Gohan saying, and though the lightning scared teen might be a little unhappy to admit it he knew that the other boy was correct. So with so many thoughts swirling through his head Harry knew that he needed to get back to the Gryffindor tower so that he could think about the numerous things that he'd learned today.
Alright and that's the end of chapter 22, I hope that everyone liked it, I decided to use Gohan returning to fight Frieza for the memory because I thought it was probably the best representation of Gohan being selfless up to this point, I would like to apologize for how rushed his explanation of why he refused to train Harry was, I tried to make it longer but no matter how I tried to do that it always came out wrong, so with all that said I once again hope everyone liked the chapter, and please remember to leave a review.
