Chapter 25
Allen coughed, spitting up blood.
"Allen…"
Allen opened his eyes to see Komui. Allen looked really bad, he had dark bags under his eyes and blood dribbling down the side of his mouth, and he was very thin and frail.
"I'm going to fetch your family."
"Why?" He coughed.
Komui swallowed his sadness; he didn't want to inform the young father. "Allen, you might not make it to see tomorrow."
Allen nodded. "Alright."
Komui sent Lenalee to go fetch the family as komui cleaned Allen up.
Allen coughed and looked up as his family entered. He smiled, weakly.
"Daddy, are you feeling well?" Alice asked softly, she knew that Daddy was sick.
"I am feeling good. Come here. I want to see you."
Alice climbed onto the bed.
Allen held Alice and kissed her forehead. "I love you sweetheart. You are going to grow into a beautiful woman. Make sure to find a nice man to keep you happy."
"But Daddy, boys are icky."
Allen chuckled. "Yes, boys are icky, but you might grow to like one, one day." Allen kissed her cheek. "Be good. I love you so much."
The boys climbed up onto the bed as Lavi picked up Alice.
"Boys, I want you to take good care of your sister. Watch over her and watch out for each other, no fighting. You two are strong together. I love you. You boys are going to grow up to be strong just like…"
"You Daddy!" Rin grinned.
"Yes, well… I hope that you grow up to be stronger than me. Get a family, have kids, be happy with your life."
"Yes Dad." The two said.
Allen kissed their foreheads. "Lavi, I want to talk to you, Lenalee, can you walk the kids out?"
Lenalee nodded and escorted the three out.
Allen laid down, he was so weak. "Lavi, please take care of them."
"I will." A tear feel down Lavi's cheek. "Allen, hang in there."
"Lavi, it's my time." Allen coughed up blood and sighed. "I'm sorry, Lavi, you make a good father. I love our children, thank you for…" Allen closed his eyes and took his final breathe.
"Allen." Lavi gently shook Allen's shoulder. "No, please not now. Come on. Wake up!" Tears fell from his eye.
Komui walked in and pushed Lavi back and checked Allen's pulse. He sighed and took the IV out of Allen's arm and stepped back to bow. "Rest well, my friend. You fought a good battle."
Lavi dried his eye and kissed Allen's cheek before walking out.
"Lavi, can we see Daddy tonight before bed time?" Rin asked, glomping Lavi's leg.
"No, we can't."
"Why not?" Rin and Alice whined.
Aaron was silent.
Lavi looked at the kid, something was off with him. Lavi took the kids outside. Aaron sat in the grass, alone, as Alice and Rin ran off to play. Lavi sat by his son. "What's wrong?"
"… Is Daddy in heaven?"
Lavi was shocked, but he couldn't lie to the boy. "Yes. Your father died a few minutes ago and now he is watching over us from heaven."
Tears collected in Aaron's eyes.
Lavi hugged Aaron as the boy cried. "Please, stay strong. Don't tell your siblings."
Aaron nodded.
Kanda walked out from the woods, he had been training. He approached Lavi and Aaron. He bowed to the family and walked to the Order. Lavi stood and followed Kanda and grabbed him, slamming him into the block wall. "You Bastard!"
Kanda glared.
"You are such a Bastard! How dare you?! Allen was alone and you f****** left him alone with your kids!" Tears were in Lavi's eyes. "We hurt him and you didn't even give a damn!"
The three kids watched, scared.
"Bastard! Hell would be too grand for you!"
Kanda punched Lavi.
Lavi stumbled back.
"I did everything I could to try to save him! More than you can even imagine! I donated blood every day to try to save him, but his innocence counteracted my blood! I tried everything within my power to try and keep him with his family, but it didn't work!" Tears collected in his eyes. "Don't give me that crap about not caring, I did! I knew that I shared some responsibility on those three, but I don't know how to deal with children. I figured if I saved their Father, my sin would be repaid!"
"You are such an ass!"
"Call me anything you want, it won't bring Allen back!"
Alice teared up. "What's wrong with Daddy?"
Aaron held his sister, "Daddy is feeling much better now, okay?"
Alice whimpered. "What? I want to see my Daddy!" She cried.
Kanda walked over.
Aaron held his sister protectively.
Kanda kneeled down and looked Alice in the eyes. "Alice, can you come here?"
Aaron let Alice go. She walked over to Kanda.
Kanda pushed some of Alice's black hair, out of her eyes. "Hey beautiful."
"Daddy! I want to see my Daddy!"
Kanda picked Alice up and kissed her forehead. "You are strong. Don't cry."
"But Daddy…"
"You are strong. Please, a lovely girl such as you should never cry."
Alice liked how calm this man was, it reminded her of Aaron. She gently buried her face into her other Father's shoulder as she cried.
