"Can we please welcome back to the stage the loveliest Darcy Taylor!" Caesar exclaimed, giddily clapping his hands along with the rest of Panem.
In a flowing dark gown that trailed behind her, the girl who walked on stage was not Darcy Taylor.
"Welcome back Darcy." he smiled, enveloping her into a hug.
"Glad to be back." she replied, sitting down on the love seat.
"You're a victor now-" Caeser started.
"Sure am. It sorta suck that all my friends are dead though." she interrupted.
"I would like to apologize for your loss, Darcy, I am truly sorry." he said, and truly meant it.
Darcy sensed the honestly in his words, but continued, "None sense. You didn't kill them, the Capitol killed them. So did I, but mostly the Capitol."
The audience laughed.
"Nice, princess." Haymitch mumbled.
"Do you ever get bored of talking to people, Caeser?" she asked.
Haymitch and Effie's eyes widened, "What is she doing!"
"Well of course, I mean some people are just really boring." he replied.
Darcy let out a hmph.
"Why don't we play a game, it'll be fun." she offered, but the deciding factor was hers.
They were going to play a game.
"I need twenty four volunteers." Darcy announced.
Hands and gloves shot up, everyone eager to participate.
A smirk played on Darcy's lips.
She pointed to a woman, no more than twelve and the boy sitting next to her, no more than fifteen.
"You and you," Darcy pointed to the boy in the back with bright green hair and another boy who must have been his brother with the matching green hair.
Darcy went on like this, picking twenty four.
No one seemed to notice that twelve were boys and twelve were girls.
Haymitch's hands became clammy.
"Now we're going to have a little reenactment. You're all going to be given weapons- fake of course! I would never let the Capitol hurt you. I ordered them straight from President Snow, so have no worries."
The citizens had wide grins across their faces as they picked up their deadly toys ranging from knives, tridents, flame throwers, spears, and axes.
"Now, on the count of three, I want you to all try and hurt your partner. Head's are the go to, just saying."
Smiles still spread across their faces, all eager to play.
"Would you like to play, Caeser?" Darcy offered.
He shook his head, "I was never one for games."
But to be honest, he was scared.
These weapons were as real as the ones in the games.
"One."
Haymitch's eyes widened in shock.
"Two."
All the Victors watched.
"Three."
The Captiol's widened grins were still placed upon their face.
The only difference?
None of them were breathing.
"Let the Hunger Games begin."
