"I have to make a doctor's appointment." I rolled over and looked the clock. "Maybe when it's not four in the morning though."
Christian's hands find my stomach. "Baby number four. Boy or girl?"
"Grandma Grace thinks it's a boy. I hope we have another boy. Aria's just about to turn one and having two girls going through puberty at the same time would be painful." I wince.
"Go to sleep and we'll make a doctor's appointment in the morning."
"Ana." Why is someone always waking me up?! "Ana it's time to get up. You have to make a doctor's appointment."
"Christian!" I'm pretty sure I remember my dream.
"What? What's wrong!?"
"Three." I whispered.
Christian looks worried. "Ana. What are you-"
"I think, now I'm not sure, but I think there are three babies. I think I'm having triplets."
His face goes blank and I think he's going into shock. "Why? What?"
"I had a dream. We had triplets. Two boys, identical, and a girl. Adrian and Carrey and Spencer. I think Carrey was short for Carrick."
"Ana. It was just a dream. A simple dream doesn't mean that you're actually having triplets."
I know he's right and just because I dreamt it doesn't mean it's going to happen but this dream just felt so real. I just know it. Call it women's intuition. I'm going to make a doctor's appointment ASAP.
On the way to the doctor's office I try to remember my dream. All I can come up with is Ted kissing me on the cheek, but he's older. Much older. I vaguely remember seeing Christian's face; his hair had grey in it. It looked good on him.
"Mrs. Grey." Sawyer pulled me out of my head. "We're here."
"Well you're definitely pregnant Mrs. Grey. I'd say about three months."
"Really?!" I squeak.
"Haven't you noticed your missed periods?"
"I just assumed it was side effects from the birth control." I can't believe I've been pregnant for three months.
"Wait. There's more than one heartbeat here." She moves the ultrasound around my stomach and my breath hitches. "Well, look at that. Looks like you're going to have triplets Mrs. Grey. Congratulations. I'll print you a picture, prescribe your prenatal vitamins and we can talk reduction."
"Oh no. I don't want to-" She held up her hand to quiet me and I quickly thought, Christian might want to do the reduction.
"I had to ask. I'll give you the number to an obstetrician across town."
"You've delivered all of the kids." Christian isn't going to like changing doctors, especially with a high risk pregnancy.
"I don't specialize in multiples. But Dr. Homefield is the best in all of Washington."
I walked out of the doctor's office in a daze. I mean, I'd thought it was triplets but having these three pictures makes is so real.
"Sawyer, can you take me to Christian's office?"
"Sure thing Mrs. Grey."
On the ride over I kept thinking about my dream from the night before. Triplets? Six children? It makes my head spin.
When I get to Christian's office he's in a meeting which, of course, Andrea insists on interrupting.
"Send her in Andrea." Christian's voice comes over the intercom on her desk. People file out of his office and I walk in.
"To what do I owe this surprise?" He's sitting at his desk with his tie loosened and the first button of his shirt undone. He looks so powerful and so… hot. It might be the pregnancy hormones but I want him so much right now.
"Um I went to the doctors." I walk over to him and sit on his lap.
"And?" He wraps his arms around me.
"And then there was six." I mumble.
"Really?!" I fish out the ultrasound pictures from my purse and hand them to him. "I mean, I know I'm good but this…"
"Hush!" I giggle. I've missed playful Christian.
"Well, looks like we're going to have our hands full. How far along are we?" His hands go to my stomach.
"Three months."
"Really?!"
"Apparently. And um…"
"Yes?"
"She mentioned reduction and I thought I'd-"
"No." He was short and his body went rigid behind me.
"Okay."
"You're not going to fight me on this?" He sounded shocked.
"No. I didn't want to do the reduction but she brought it up and I figured you'd want a say in it." For some reason I'm nervous and playing with my wedding ring.
"Anastasia, as long as you keep churning them out, I want them. No matter how many at a time." Oh Fifty!
"I'm so happy to hear you say that." I didn't know how he'd react to the news.
"Did you really think that I'd ask you to kill one of our children?"
"I don't know. I just can never predict how you're going to react to things."
"Unpredictable? I've been called worse things."
"Are you terribly busy?"
"Why?" I could hear the smile in his voice.
"I want you to ditch with me."
"Skipping? Anastasia, what would your mother say?" He gasps with mock horror in his voice.
"She'd say all work and no play will make Christian a very dull boy."
"Oh Ana." He tightens his arms around me. "I promise I get more than my fill of play." He whispers into my ear.
"Well I'm going to get the kids from school and we're going for lunch and to the park. You're more than welcome to join us. Besides, I feel like I haven't spent time with Aria in forever. I miss my baby."
"Hey I thought I was your baby." He pushed his bottom lip out in a pout.
"Well the last time I checked you can wipe your own butt."
