As Gail woke up, Holly lied next to her. She looked beautiful as usual, her hair was messy and she lied on her belly. Gail's fingertips trembled down her spine. God, when she thought about yesterday night, she couldn't help but smile uncontrollably. Holly had to be a witch, otherwise she couldn't explain what happened last night. It was magic and she was sure she'd never forget that night.
LAST NIGHT
"So can we continue now?" Gail asked and closed the front door of Holly's apartment behind them.
"Oh" Holly grinned and put her arms around Gail's waist "Aren't you tired?"
"No! Or are you afraid that I'll fall asleep, because you're so bad?"
"I don't think you will find sleep" she said as she pulled of Gail's shirt
"Mmm I think I could live with that" she whispered in her ear and dragged her to the bedroom
"Isn't that a bit unromantic?" Holly said while taking off her shirt
"Sorry, baby, but I don't have enough patience to light candles up now" and with those words she pulled her onto
the bed and started kissing Holly liked never before.
Gail felt free. She had no doubts, no worries, everything that was on her mind fell off her. She felt like she was flying.
"Holly, I don't feel anything" Gail said and stopped within her moves
Holly stopped kissing the blondes belly and looked at Gail "What?" she said in confusion
"I don't feel anything"
"Uh-should I ... should I stop?"
"No! I mean, you know, those moments when you feel like you got all of your burdens off your chest, that's when you feel nothing, like you are free now"
"Yeah, I feel that when I am with you" she kissed Gail's nose gently
"Is this how it feels to be with a woman?"
"No, this is how it feels to be in love" she smiled down at her
"So I am in love"
"Are you?" she raised her eyebrow, like she did so often, Gail loved it every time
Gail didn't answer she just pressed her lips against Holly's, tasting her, feeling her.
As Holly's fingers trembled down her chest and stomach, she shivered. It was like Holly's touch brought light into her life, after a long time in darkness. She felt her touch deep in her bones, she felt it everywhere. She never wanted that feeling to end.
Holly closed her eyes and kissed gently and so soft Gail's inner thighs that she braced herself on her elbows and said, breathing heavily "Oh man, what are you doing to me?"
The brunette looked up and she smiled, yes that smile was the one Gail wanted to see when she woke up, that was the smile she wanted to see when she came home from an exhausting day. That was the smile she didn't want to miss.
Holly had both hands placed on Gail's hips and her thumbs rubbed loving over her exposed skin. And she continued kissing Gail's thighs.
Gail let go off her position on her elbows and let herself fall into the sheets
DONG !
"OW!" Gail shouted
Holly laughed "Did...did you just..." She couldn't finish her sentence because she was laughing too hard
"Shut up" Gail said but she laughed too
"I can't believe you just hit you head on the headboard" She wiped the tears that came to her eyes away
"Oh my god" she couldn't stop with laughing
They both couldn't finish what they were doing. Every time Holly tried to kiss Gail again she laughed, and Gail laughed too.
"That was the most funniest outcome of having someone in my bed ever. I don't think I'll ever forget this moment... oh my god your face when you hit the headboard... priceless" she bursted into laughter
"It's all your fault, Holly Stewart"
"Yeah, of course Ms-I-hit-my-head-during-sex"
Holly embraced Gail in a hug and tangled her fingers in Gail's hair. Gail buried her head in her chest. Just below her heart. She could hear Holly's heartbeat and she wondered if she'll ever her a melody as beautiful as the sound of the organ pumping blood through the person she loves. Yeah, that's what Gail did. She loved her. She loved her so much.
"Holly?" she lifted her chin up a bit, so she could look into the brunettes eyes. An as their eyes met Gail saw so much love in them. She could've drowned in those eyes.
"Gail?"
"Holly, I really love you"
"I know, I hope you won't get a bump though"
"Holly!" Gail laughed "I just told you I love you"
She kissed Gail's forehead and said "I love you too"
Gail smiled at the thought of it. She smiled because she saw Holly lying next to her. She smiled because she loved.
And so the months went and suddenly it was December.
Gail and Holly said that they wouldn't get each other a gift for Christmas, but both knew that they would buy something though. So Gail went through many stores, thinking of what to get Holly, but she couldn't think of the perfect present. A new shirt, a perfume? No, that was too easy. The blonde stumbled along the never-ending mall, but nothing was her liking.
It snowed outside and she was frustrated. Why was it just so damn hard to find the right present for your girlfriend? Snowflakes landed in her hair and she hurried through the streets, wanting to get to her favorite coffee shop to relax a little bit after this torture. She was almost there as she saw over the street a sign in a window that said "A BOOK IS ALWAYS THE BEST PRESENT", so she switched the street sides. It was a tiny bookstore. Everywhere were bookshelves, she didn't even saw a bit of the wall behind it. Every space was filled with books.
Holly would love it here, Gail thought. Further in the store was a desk, also filled with books, and behind sat an older man.
"Hi" Gail said in a quiet voice
"Bonjour, young lady" the older man replied, coming towards her "What are you searching for?"
"How do you know I'm searching for something?" Gail asked
He grinned "Well, your face tells me you've searched but haven't found what you're looking for"
Gail was stunned that he could see it by just looking at her, she always controls her facial expressions.
"Actually, I am .. "
"You'll find it here" he headed to a chair which was placed between piles of books and sat down.
"What if not?" she turned to a table with books on it and started to flip through the pages of a book.
"Oh, I haven't thought about what would happen then, because it never happens" he smiled.
"I have a huge problem with finding the right gift for my ..girlfriend" she put the book down
"And, what does she like to read?" he asked
"Well ... I think she'd take everything she gets ..she's really smart, uhh-"
"But you don't want to pick any book for her"
"Right .. I just want to find something for her she really likes, something she doesn't want to give away.."
"Let's see what I can do for you" he got out of his chair and started wandering around in the room, putting books out of the shelf, taking them back again and muttering things to himself.
"Do you want a love story?"
"Uh, I don't know, I want nothing of the corny stuff I think, I want something that makes her think"
Suddenly he put all the books he had in his hands down "A book that makes her fall in love?"
"Yeah, that would be great"
After about 10 minutes cursing because of the chaos in the shelves, pulling books out of the shelves and piling them on the floor he stood there with a book in his hands and rubbed his thumb across the cover
"That's it" he whispered "If that book doesn't make her fall in love, nothing will"
"What's it about?" she asked
"It's about a journey to find yourself. After that book you know what counts in life. It makes you rethink all the decisions you've ever done ... As I met my wife, there was another man who fancied her, and we kind of had to fight for her love. He was really charming, he bought her roses, took her to the theaters and dinners. I couldn't afford that, I was just a boy from a poor family and everything I learned about love, I read in my books. Well, her parents pushed her in a relationship with the rich one, I never really had a chance. And that one night, I gave her that book, though her parents had said we are not allowed to see each other. The other morning she came to me, said she had left him and that she wanted to start a new life with me. It was the book, I knew it. The book brought the love of my life to me"
Gail was speechless. This story really touched her, she didn't know why. Maybe because she loves now.
Now she's vulnerable. Is that what love did to someone? If yes, it was worth taking risks. Holly was worth it.
Though she never wanted to have someone she couldn't stand losing.
She bought the book and went home.
Holly wouldn't come home until 8pm, so she had about 2 hours to start reading the book. She wanted to read it.
She had to check if it was really that good and that it wasn't too cheeky, she didn't want Holly to think she's a big romantic or anything, but for Holly, she had to admit that she was.
God, that woman changed her in 100 different ways. It was like loving Holly made a new woman out of her
So she started and lost herself in a world she was never before. From time to time she wrote little notes in the book, things she found sad, or funny, things she agreed with or didn't. She underlined her favorite passages and quotes she related to.
She nearly didn't hear the door as Holly came back from work, as fast as she could Gail placed the book under a pillow.
"Hey" said Holly with a big smile
"Hey beautiful" replied Gail, not moving
"Did something happen?" asked Holly suspicious
"No, why?"
"You look ...different?"
"I'm just laying around"
"Yeah, I see" Holly moved to Gail and placed her hands next to her head and took a seat on her lap. "I missed you"
"You strongly smell like dead people" she kissed her nose
"That's how I like being told I've been missed"
Holly smiled because that was one of the moments why she had chosen to be with Gail Peck
