Another new character introduced in this chapter.
"How do you know this stuff?" Lyla asked.
"I told you," Cathryn said, "I can speak to the real Caroline. She's sitting next to me!"
"I don't know..." Lydia said.
"How would I know this stuff if I was lying then?" Cathryn asked.
"Maybe she's right, Lydia." Lyla said.
"What are you doing? You are supposed to be with the pod."
"I don't belong there. I'm half siren. I'm not like the other mermaids. That's why I'm treated different."
"That sounds unfair."
"It is, they already left a siren in Arizona for not doing what they say."
"So, you really came here all the way from Arizona!"
"Yes, where did you come from?"
"Arkansas."
"Never heard of it."
"I want to thank you for saving me."
"Please don't tell your family about me or my pod."
"I wouldn't do that. Um, are you staying in Scotland?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Oh, I was just wondering..."
"Okay, so should we meet tomorrow?"
"Okay..."
"Oh, it was all just a dream!" Cathryn said.
"What was?" Caroline asked.
"Oh, I had a dream about a girl and a boy. The girl was a siren, and she was talking about how her pod treats her unfairly or something." Cathryn explained.
"Who are you talking to?" Lydia asked. "Oh wait, never mind." Lydia laughed at her little joke.
Cathryn had told them she was a mermaid too, so Lydia and Lyla didn't worry about the dangers of their secret anymore. To make things better, Cathryn liked the Gold Coast now.
"How far can mermaids swim?" Cathryn asked.
"I don't know, I've never tried to swim to other countries. Why?" Lyla answered.
"Well, I've actually wanted to go to Scotland." Cathryn revealed.
"Why?" Lydia asked.
"The girl in my dreams, said she lived there." Cathryn answered.
"So, you want to go, because of a dream?" Lydia asked.
"Yes." Cathryn answered.
"But, why do you want to meet her?" Lydia asked.
"Go for it!" Caroline said.
"She seemed interesting." Cathryn answered.
"So, you want to go all the way to Scotland, because a girl, who may not be real, looks interesting?" Lydia asked.
"Yes..." Cathryn answered.
"Well, I'm not helping then." Lydia announced.
"Me neither." Lyla said.
"I want to come, but I want to figure out a way to communicate with Lydia and Lyla." Caroline said.
"Sorry Cathryn, but I just don't think we can swim that far." Lyla apologized.
"Is Caroline coming?" Lydia asked.
"No," Cathryn answered. "but I'm going, no matter how much it hurts me."
When Cathryn left, Caroline tried to teach Lydia and Lyla to speak to her.
It was easy actually, she just wrote things down and held the paper. Although they couldn't see her, they could see the paper.
"This is easy. Let's do something else." Lydia suggested.
"I know what we can do!" Lyla said.
"What?" Lydia asked.
"Put on a magic show for Caroline, and make money!" Lyla squealed.
