The little youngster ran off with a somewhat sad but cheerful expression on his face. Damien felt a slight drip of guilt coming down from him as he shamelessly defeated a kid and almost shamed the young kid's pride.

"Hey Master! A little help! I'm not sure I can hold on forever" bursted Mallerie as she tried to get down the tree she had teleported to from the battle with the Makuhita.

Damien ran to the tree from where she was yelling from and held his hands out and gave her a reassuring look.

"I got you Mallerie you can let go"

"W-w-woow that's….. I'm pretty high up" said Mallerie with a hesitant tone.

"Just close your eyes and jump. When you open your eyes I can guarantee you that you'll be in my arms"

Mallerie glances at Damien who was signaling her to jump and back at her slender arms holding a branch which was the only thing holding her from falling.

"KKKKKKYYYYAAAAHHH!"

Damien caught her and cradled her like a mother would with her newborn.

"Gotcha"

"F-f-for a second there I though you would've dropped me"

"Me? Haha hell no! You're looking at reputable amateur baseball player…. Well used too" sneered Damien

Damien's smile went from a cheerful one to a dauntful one.

"Hey umm Damien what's with the face?" said Mallerie in a soothing tone as she examined his gloomy face.

"Oh umm nothings the matter and umm hey look! It's the lake that means we're almost at Rustboro." Stammered Damien.

"Well okay then. Let's get going I suppose" said Mallerie in a puzzled look.

The two cross the little bridge that gap between the lake from route 104 to Rustboro. As they crossed the rickety bridge Mallerie had the sudden urge to ask why Damien's emotion suddenly changed but she kept quiet as she saw a few tears fall from his eyes.

"Damn… freaking allergies acting up again haha" laughed Damien as he wiped his anguished tears away.

Mallerie shrugged and gave a small smile. She knew something was wrong and that this was not a seasonal allergy. She was a psychic Pokémon; sensing emotions was her specialty.

As they entered Rustboro the atmosphere gave off a cityscape feeling something which was quite rare in the Hoenn region.

"Here we are, Rustboro City: The city probing the integration of nature and science. Well at least that's what the sign say over there says" Damien said confidently as he points at a rundown sign at the entrance of the city.

"You know you sound like a genius when you use those big words hehehe" Laughed Mallerie

The duo walked along the path of the city and headed towards the Pokémon center as nightfall was on its way.

Damien and Mallerie were both greeted by nurse joy that sported the traditional white nurse dress.

"Welcome to the Pokémon Center, How may we help you?"

"Just a room to rest and sleep for the night"

"Alright that will be 150 Pokéyen"

Damien hands over the money and politely thanks nurse joy.

"Oh and do you have any Pokémons that need any healing?"

Damien looks at Mallerie and asks "Hey, you get hurt from the battle earlier?"

Mallerie then gestures that she was fine and was just a bit tired from walking.

"Well she's fine and my other Pokémons didn't really see any action today so yeah, no need"

"Alright, follow Chansey she'll lead you to your rooms. Have a good stay" ordered Nurse Joy to the Chansey who was arranging boxes.

"Thanks" said Damien with a smile

"Chansey Chanse" roared Chansey in a cute frustrated way. Looks like she was pretty busy when Nurse Joy gave her that order.

She waddled in a cute manner as she flailed her tiny arms in frustration.

As they followed Chansey, Mallerie thought the hallways of the Pokémon center seem to go forever as doors just look identical to each other and the wallpaper on the walls just repeat endlessly.

"Chanse" roared Chansey as she pointed at the guest room and went back to the backroom from where she came from.

"She seemed mad hehehe"sneered Mallerie

"She sure did haha" Damien laughed

As they entered the room they were both amazed, both thinking that the guest room was gonna be decent but this room looked really nice and both didn't expect the room to be this fancy.

"Whoa! A velvet bed with cotton sheets this is just too fancy for my liking. Only downside is that there really isn't a window, but anyways this is Rustboro there aren't really any nice views out there it's all just buildings and trees" roared Damien in excitement.

Mallerie then uses her telekinesis and engulfs Damien's backpack and removes it, this then surprises Damien.

"You have no idea how much of a good companion you are" smirked Damien as he tussled her smooth green hair.

After unpacking they both lie restlessly together on the velvet bed. Mallerie finally takes the initiative to ask about what brought him down earlier so that her curiosity will be cured.

"Hey Damien, I while a go I felt a strong presence of sadness from you. If you didn't know this my special trait is sensing emotions… if you are okay with me asking…. What happened to you back then?"

After hearing those words Damien's cheerful smile turned into a somber frown.

"Do you really want to know?"

Author's Note: Looks like the next chapter is gonna be Damien's back-story. Expect the next chapter done next week or whenever I feel like it….. again sorry for the attitude. Sleep well.
