Carol drove as fast as she could, the knowledge that she had was utterly controlling her mind. She could make it back. She could see Daryl, she could be with Daryl. Carol was driving at a dangerous speed, she was aware of that fact and knew she should slow down, but she couldn't risk Rick getting back to the prison first, because there would be no hope to be with Daryl if that did happen. and being the stubborn woman she was, she simply wouldn't let that happen. There was no way she was going to let Rick do that to her, not so easily anyways. Turning a sharp corner Carol speed down the road leading into the prison, she was practically buzzing up and down from the adrenaline coursing through her body. However Carol's buzz ran stale from the site before her eyes. The place before her was no longer her home, it was a broken and unrecognisable mess of the once stable prison. There was a tank plowing through the court yard, men and women firing shots wildly at one an other, and smoke pouring out of one of the towers, and this all happened in one day.

Carol slammed on the brakes and ended up head butting the steering wheel, causing a thin trickle of blood the run down her forehead and her vision to cloud slightly. She furiously wiped it away before reaching behind her and grabbing her rifle. Quickly and quietly she snuck forward and got in a good position behind one of the enemies vehicles. Shooting with practised skill Carol took out three men almost instantly. Moving forward slightly to the next car Carol leaned out to take a shot, and wished she hadn't moved at all. There on the ground to the left of her hiding spot, was the body of Hershel, his head lying a foot above his body, completely decapitated. Carol had to swallow her own bile which formed at the site, and bit her hand to hold back a strangled scream, not wanting to give away her position. An overwhelming wave of grief flooded through her system, however her sadness didn't last long as it suddenly turned into a blinding rage. Carol got up and began to annihilate everyone. Shot after shot a body fell, Carol began to scream in fury as the image of Hershel lying on the blood soaked grass crowded her memory. After a moment of death at Carols hand, the group she was thinning out seemed to realise what was happening and began to turn toward her. However she had already reached the court yard where, with the entirety of the grass area now utterly wiped clean of the enemy, there were only a few remaining. Ten or so more shots rang through the air before a heavy and almost deafening silence settled upon them. But that silence was promptly destroyed by one last shot.

"CAROL!" In that moment there were so many emotions in that simple word, but she didn't have anytime to process them because she suddenly felt a searing pain in her stomach. Confused she looked down in time to see a large crimson patch begin to form around the area from where the source of her pain was emitting. There were numerous shouts and further gun shots, from who she didn't know because she was falling and falling hard. Not in a lovey-dovey romance kind of falling, more like the being sucked into a dark, spiralling void with no way out, kind of falling. And worst of all, she was scared, because she knew in that moment she was dying. Carol noticed that the ground was quickly rushing towards her face, but before she could even blink a pair of strong arms enveloped themselves around her waist, preventing her from smashing her face off the hard cement.

"Carol." The voice sounded so soft and frail that she didn't recognise it. "Carol can you hear me?" Louder. It was louder now and more defined, but oh-so strained with pain. It brought tears to her eyes, knowing that she was dying and that she was the reason for Daryl's pain. His head was hung low and his eyes were hidden behind his bangs, but she could still plainly see the steady flow of tears running out of them. He gently shushed her sobs and brushed his thumb along her cheek to rid it of tears, hers and Daryl's alike, mixed together as one. And suddenly, she wasn't scared to die. She wanted to die, because she didn't want to live in this world anymore. But mainly, she didn't want to cause Daryl anymore pain.

"I love you." Her words were slurred and they gurgled slightly in the back of her throat, from the blood that was pooling there, but she got them out all the same. Daryl stiffly lifted his head up until she was left staring into his deep blue eyes that were swimming with emotions, the majority being sadness and pain, and the sight broke her heart. "Wha-what did ya say?" Daryl was stuttering and stumbling over his own tongue, obviously not wanting to convey his true emotions. Smiling weakly she painfully lifted her arm to wrap around Daryl's neck and pulled him down to push his lips onto hers. Carol could feel the tears coming down his face freely now and landing on hers as he slowly started to kiss her back. With a content sigh, Carol let the darkness consume her and she weakly smiled before she released out one last shuddering breath.

Daryls POV

"CAROL!" Daryl roared out his pain. How could this happen, this can't happen. It was too surreal to be true. How could this end just like his dream? How could something that brought them together, rip them apart? With a severe case of déjà-vu Daryl laid his head on top of Carols lifeless form and let the body wrecking sobs flood through him.

Time flew by, it could've been only minutes or hours, Daryl really didn't know. All he knew was that Carols body began to twitch back to life and he knew exactly what that entailed for him. With stiff limbs he reached around himself and pulled out his hunting knife. Carols eyes were open now and her slow journey towards him began. With precision and speed he drove the knife in between her eyes, not even looking at her because he knew if he did he wouldn't be able to do what needed to be done. With the reassuring sound of bones crushing, telling him he hadn't missed, Daryl turned and laid his head on top of her now broken and bloodied one, he lifted his gun from his back pocket and put it to the side of his head. With one final breath Daryl closed the gap between their lips and pulled the trigger.
