Author's notes: Well, it was nice to see that at least one person was touched by Clarissa's sacrifice. But we know the real Clara is still alive out there, waiting to meet the Eleventh Doctor.

This chapter will not be the last of this story, there will be one more. And in this chapter I have included two characters created by Miss Singing In The Rain, Jenna Dawes and her deceased mother Jeannie. Also there will be appearances made by two fan favorite Doctor Who-characters. I won't tell you who they are, I'm going to let you be surprised when you see them.

Impossible Girl

Earlier:

The Batmobile's afterburners made the vehicle jump over the river and into the panicking Narrows. There was panic around the entire island. Ra's al Ghul had already distributed Nightmare Child airborne and frightened people were already running around with even more dangerous Arkham Inmates. Listening to the Bat-Radio, Batman had managed to overhear Gordon speaking to Commissioner Loeb for more backup, which was unavailable since every cop in the city was already in the Narrows, incapacitated. Batman was the only one who could come to help Gordon and Doctor Smith now.

''Narrows is tearing itself to pieces,'' Gordon said as Batman climbed out of the Batmobile.

''This is just the beginning,'' Batman growled back at the police sergeant. ''If Nightmare Child gets out of the water supply, there is no stopping what's coming.''

''How are they gonna do that?''

''They'll be using the train,'' Batman answered, using the knowledge he had learnt the night his childhood ended. ''The monorail follows the water main to the central hub, beneath Wayne Tower. If the train gets to get to its destination the whole city's water supply will explode.''

''Covering Gotham in this poison!'' Gordon said looking at the chaos at hand.

''I'm going to stop that train from reaching its destination, but I'm going to need your help.''

''What do you need?''

''Can you drive stick?'' Batman asked showing Gordon the Batmobile's key.

Now:

No more, Batman thought as he glided towards the monorail station. He was not going to let any more people die. Ra's al Ghul and the League of Shadows had caused enough pain to Gotham already and there were people who deserved none of it. Clarissa Oswin didn't deserve to have died like that, Doctor Smith didn't deserve to have her die in his arms and that little boy didn't deserve to have his innocence to be ripped from him by watching Clarissa be butchered in front of his eyes.

Batman landed on the monorail station in front of Ra's al Ghul who seemed to be expecting him with two ninjas.

''Well, well,'' the Demon's Head said taken aback by Batman's appearance, ''looks like you took my advice about theatricality a bit… literally.''

''It ends here!'' Batman growled, thinking about the image of Doctor Smith holding Clarissa's bleeding body.

''For you and the police maybe,'' Ra's al Ghul said firmly. ''My war with Gotham still goes on. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a city to destroy.''

''Can't I take on two of your pawns?'' Batman taunted as Ra's was about to leave.

''As you wish,'' Ra's said off minded and took a hold of a rope that pulled him up as two more ninjas descended to face Batman.

Batman grunted annoyed and lunged at one of the ninjas, pulling him to lower platform as three others followed.

The Doctor was running on the rooftops. As he had spent most of his life running away and to danger, it wasn't even remotely difficult. Looking at the monorail tracks, the Doctor saw the train approaching the point where he was running. Then looking back to where he had been running from, the control room Rachel and Clarissa's body were, the Doctor pulled out the sonic screwdriver and sent the remote order for the train to stop for nine seconds. The monorail stopped on its tracks and the Doctor sprinted at it with the force of pure anger. He jumped on to one of the train's open carts just as it began to move again.

As the train began to move again, the Doctor set his way towards the first cart where he assumed the devise Demon's Head had used to get Nightmare Child into air. Walking through the carts, the Doctor eventually stepped into a cart occupied by a group of ninjas. All of them pulled out their swords and began to approach the Doctor. The Doctor took a defense positions with holding the sonic screwdriver at his back hand. Using it, he made the lights in the cart flash brightly, trying to blind the ninjas. This attempt proved futile as the ninjas had apparently learned to move in darkness and blinded. Fortunately, the Doctor was a Time Lord and was so able to see time moving differently and feel as they moved forwards in time at natural speed. Using these senses, the Doctor was able to use the momentum of the ninjas' attacks to dodge and counter them.

''Venusian Aikido, gentlemen,'' the Doctor said walking out of the cart after defeating all the ninjas. ''Hope I didn't hurt you too much.''

Batman fought off all the ninjas and pulled out the grabble-gun. He was about to shoot a line to the monorail, when another ninja threw his rope to the grabble-gun and pulled it to fly over the railing and down to street level. Batman jumped on the ninja and punched him before jumping down to look for the grabble gun.

The whole street level was filled with gassed form of Nightmare Child and as Batman landed there, he could see the infected people advancing on him. No wonder they were probably frightened by Batman's appearance with its terrifying effect now multiplied. The infected people began to advance on him quickly, possibly seeing that they could take Batman down easily as a mob. Batman didn't want to fight against them. He was supposed to fight for them. Quickly Batman was swarmed by the infected people trying to pull him apart.

Trying to fight free, Batman caught a glimpse of the grabble-gun on the ground. He reached for it, managed to grab a hold of it and shot the Bat-line from it to the monorail tracks, pulling himself off from the mob's hold of him. Batman was now hanging from the moving monorail by the Bat-line, trying to pull the line to the belt's accelerator so he could get up and inside the train.

At the Batmobile, Gordon finally managed to open its hood and climb inside.

''This is Gordon,'' he spoke to his police radio, ''prepare to lower the bridge.''

It took some adjusting for Gordon to fully control and drive the Batmobile, but as one of the bridges was now lowered, he didn't need to jump over the river. Following the instructions from the GPS, Gordon made his way to Wayne Tower.

At the monorail's head cart, the Doctor finally came face to face with Ra's al Ghul, who seemed unfazed by the Time Lord's appearance.

''When I heard someone was making his way fighting through my men, I assumed it to be Batman,'' Ra's al Ghul said.

''Sorry to disappoint you,'' the Doctor said happily before turning serious and demanding. ''Now stop this train!''

''Why? Do you know how many people are living in this city with the status that isn't even considered living?'' Ra's al Ghul said leaning to the microwave emitter. ''Millions who keep dying every day, while no bats an eye. I am merely making it stop.''

''By killing everyone?''

''Of course not, by making them tear themselves apart through fear.''

''That isn't fear, its hate,'' the Doctor said surprising Ra's al Ghul. ''Oh, you didn't know. Ha, well you should have taken your time to make sure.''

''What are trying play?'' Ra's al Ghul asked wearily.

''Those people are not tearing themselves apart through fear of what they see themselves as!'' the Doctor barked at the Demon's Head. ''They are tearing themselves apart because they see themselves as humans! Do you know why your toxin was named Nightmare Child? Because that is what it's made of, the remnants of the ship called Nightmare Child that was destroyed during the first days of the Time War!''

''Excuse me?''

''THOSE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE DALEKS!'' the Doctor yelled, ignoring the fact that Ra's al Ghul didn't know what they were. ''And because they see people who are not Daleks, they ignore the fact that they aren't either and focus on exterminating every non-Dalek they find.''

Before Ra's al Ghul could respond, Batman flew inside the monorail through the window and jumped on the microwave emitter, facing the Demon's Head with his dark glare.

''You will never learn,'' Ra's al Ghul muttered pulling out his sword and began to fight the Batman.

As the two men were fighting between the machine and the train's controls, the Doctor turned his attention to the microwave emitter. Scanning it with the sonic screwdriver, he could make out of it that once it had been on so long, turning it off wouldn't be that easy.

''Familiar!'' the Doctor overheard Ra's al Ghul saying. ''Haven't you learned anything new!?''

''HOW ABOUT THIS!'' Batman barked back.

Trying to concentrate on what he was doing, the Doctor figured out what to do. If he couldn't shut the machine down, he could make it spin its engines to go on faster on overturns. By overloading its working mechanisms, the Doctor made the machine to spin itself out of its own control. Proud of his work, the Doctor raised his gaze to see Ra's al Ghul holding Batman on the ground.

''You just an ordinary man in a cape,'' Ra's al Ghul taunted the vigilante at his mercy. ''That's why you couldn't fight injustice and why you cannot stop this train.''

''And when did anyone say it needed to be stopped?'' the Doctor said gaining Ra's al Ghul's attention. ''Oh right, that was me. No need for that anymore because I already made your machine so that it will tire itself out, before the train reaches its destination.''

''Who are you!?'' Ra's al Ghul muttered angrily as Batman took advantage of the Doctor's distraction.

''I'm the Doctor'', the Time Lord answered as Batman gained the upper hand. ''And you should have seen that one coming or didn't you learn to mind your surroundings?''

''Have you finally learned to do what is necessary?'' Ra's al Ghul asked as the Doctor saw and heard explosions happen ahead at the tracks.

''I won't kill you!'' Batman growled at Ra's al Ghul before throwing two Batarangs, one behind himself and at the train controls. Back of the cart blew off and the controls were jammed, sending the train to head towards a hole made to the tracks. ''But I don't have to save you.''

Batman then lunged at the Doctor taking a hold of him and shot a line with his grabble-gun, pulling them both out of the monorail before it fell to the lower levels of Wayne Tower. They both landed near Batmobile just as Sergeant Gordon got out of it.

''Did we stop it?'' Gordon asked.

''I don't see any Nightmare Child out here,'' the Doctor said looking around. ''I'd say we did.''

''Did you all get-'' Gordon was about to ask from the Doctor, but stopped as he saw his face.

''Dawes is still alive, but his assistant, Oswin, she didn't seem make it,'' Batman told Gordon as the Doctor began to walk away with his hands in his pockets. ''She saved his life, something that makes him feel guilty. Let him be alone for a while.''

Little did Batman or Gordon know, the Doctor wasn't walking away to be alone for a while. He was walking towards the TARDIS right where he had left her. The Doctor entered the TARDIS and set her to go nowhere in particular. He just sat there inside the control room listening the engines go in his lonesome, with his deceased companion's last words echoing inside his head:

Run you clever boy and remember me…

One year later:

A year after the event known as Fright Night, the whole island of Narrows had been fully converted and renamed Arkham Island. It had been lost completely by the convicts and infected people that it was no longer capable of been taken back by the common people or the city. Some of the people who had been able to escape with their psyche intact had been relocated to new homes in program founded by the Wayne Enterprises. Those who had died there and whose bodies had been able to recover from there, police officers and fallen survivors, had been buried to a memorial graveyard.

Rachel Dawes, still the Assistant District Attorney, was visiting the grave of her sister, police officer Jeannie Dawes, with her niece Jenna, who had been orphaned as her mother had died during the Fright Night. With them was the newly appointed District Attorney, Harvey Dent, with whom Rachel had grown closer as they had been working together.

As Jenna was talking to her mother's grave, Rachel turned her head to the direction of Clarissa Oswin's grave, remembering her closely too, and saw a familiar figure standing by her grave with two other people.

''Doctor Smith?'' Rachel said turning Jenna's and Harvey's attention towards the three people in the distance.

''Doctor Who?'' Harvey asked as Rachel began to walk toward Clarissa's grave and the people visiting it.

As Rachel got closer to them, she could make out that Doctor Smith was accompanied by a young blond girl in dark blue leather jacket and jeans and a tall dark haired man in a navy-blue, long overcoat.

''She was someone who traveled with me before I met you two,'' Rachel heard Doctor Smith's voice say, confirming it was him. ''And she died, saving my life as an unselfish act. I can't really remember much of her as my time with her only lasted for nine days. She was like an echo of something that was trying to reach out to me but faded away before I could hear what she had to say.''

''I can understand how you must have felt,'' the man in long overcoat said. ''After seeing how happy you were saving everyone from that Empty Child-plague, to think how many people you have lost and then be granted a chance to actually save everybody.''

''Yup,'' the Doctor said as the blond looked back and saw Rachel.

''Doctor.''

The Doctor acknowledged the girl's notice and turned around to face Rachel, Jenna and Harvey. He said nothing but looked sad and sorry.

''Hello, Rachel,'' the Doctor said with hollow voice, nodding at Jenna and Harvey. ''And you two.''

''Doctor Smith, where have you been?'' Rachel asked while taking a step towards the Doctor. ''No one has seen you after that night.''

''I have been travelling around, trying to make a difference, stay out of trouble,'' the Doctor said looking at the ground and then Jenna and Harvey again. ''Meeting new friends like you also seem to have.''

''Harvey Dent,'' Harvey said coming closer and extended his hand. ''Rachel mentioned she worked with a doctor but she never mentioned your name.''

''Not surprising,'' the Doctor said shaking Harvey's hand and gazed at Jenna. ''She never mentioned her to me either.''

''I'm Jenna,'' Jenna said extending her hand to Doctor as well. ''Aunt Rachel told me about you.''

''I told her how you helped me in my investigation and how you helped Batman,'' Rachel said with sympathy. ''I didn't want to imagine anything worse of you.''

''Thank you,'' the Doctor sad as his companions stepped out behind him.

''Hey, Captain Jack Harkness, by the way,'' the man in long overcoat said with handsome smile offering a handshake Rachel and Harvey.

''Rose Tyler,'' blond girl said doing the same.

''You work with him now?'' Rachel asked Rose who nodded innocently.

''It's not safe as Clarissa's fate proved,'' the Doctor said. ''But I'm glad that I don't have do what I do alone.''

''Hey! Are you guys seeing this too?'' Harvey said suddenly looking at Clarissa's gravestone and everyone else turn to look.

It was not possible what they were seeing. On Clarissa's grave there was standing… Clarissa. She was just standing there, smiling to them like the Doctor and Rachel remembered her smiling and wearing the yellow TSA-jacket she had been wearing when the Doctor had first met her.

''Was that her?'' Jenna asked looking at Clarissa. ''She looks pretty.''

''That she does,'' Jack agreed, ''but how are we seeing here?''

''Clara?'' The Doctor said stepping closer to his old companion and tried to touch her, but his hand just phased through. She was and she wasn't there. Clarissa took a step closer to the Doctor and put her hand on his cheek, placing a kiss on the other cheek and smiled before fading away.

''Doctor?'' Rose asked coming to the Doctor's side with Jack. ''Doctor, are you alright?''

The Doctor turned around to face everyone else there looking down with a plank face.

''I feel,'' he said with a smile growing back on his face, ''fantastic!''

Author's notes: HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT!? Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness managed to fit in here. Their appearance here fits between Doctor Dances and Boom Town. Mostly because we have Jack here and because the Doctor seemed to be in so good mood in the beginning that latter episode.

And as mentioned above, this won't be the final chapter of this story. I'll make one more chapter made of small scenes from The Dark Knight Trilogy and Doctor Who series 2-7 that will connect the dots of this story and my first two.

That how the Doctor fought against League of Shadows' ninjas, I made that happen by using two distinctive scene from episodes Rose and The End Of The World. In Rose, the Doctor told Rose how everyone on Earth were falling through space and he could feel it and in The End Of The World, he just stepped through the cooling fans of Platform One as they were spinning so fast no one else could have done it. Those two events were how I imagined how the Doctor gained the upper hand fighting those ninjas.

And finally... REVIEW!
