Chapter 14
As early as 6 in the morning, Quinn was up and already in the kitchen. She was making breakfast for everyone. She made a banana bread cake, scrambled eggs and coffee for everyone. Sam's father was up and decided to set up a table on their backyard for breakfast. By 7:30 am, Quinn heard a little boy calling out "Mommy?" so she had to leave her baking duties for a while.
"Good morning, baby." Quinn went up to her son and kissed him. "Say good morning to grandpa and grandpa. They're at the living room." She added and the little boy ran.
Quinn finished everything in the kitchen and brought it out for everyone to feast in. Everyone was awake and gathered at the backyard. Little Abby was carried by Grandma Judy who was seated at the dining Dwight set up at the backyard with the Julie and her husband. Stevie, Stacie and Andrew were playing at the mini gazebo they have at the backyard. Everyone was there except for Sam.
Quinn sliced them each a piece with scrambled egg.
"Wow, Quinn. That looks delicious." Julie complimented. "You've been working on the kitchen like a pro!" She said and everyone agreed with a smile.
"Yeah, well ever since I became a housewife, I've been spending tons of time in the kitchen, experimenting." She said, giggling as she sat down with them and sipped her coffee.
"Where's Sam, by the way?" Dwight asked.
"Oh. I let him sleep in for a while. Andrew had nightmares last night and kept kicking Sam until he fell to the floor." Everyone laughed. It wasn't a good thing but it was too funny not to laugh. "He spent the rest of the night on the couch until I woke up this morning and told him to go back to sleep on the bed."
"Well, I'm sure his back hurts." Julie added.
"I think so. I saw how uncomfortable he was on the couch." Quinn giggled. "But he's used to that. He's the one always saying the kids come first before us so..." Everyone giggled again.
"What happened with Andrew last night, anyway? The butter incident?" Julie asked, taking a bite on the bread cake.
Quinn shook her head, giggling. "Apparently, he was jealous that everyone in this house is blonde except him." Quinn's head suddenly went down. "I don't know. I can't just tell him the truth at a very young age." She looked at her son, playing with his Uncle and Auntie. "He's too young to understand such things."
Judy reached for her hand. "Honey, I'm sure you'll know when the right time is. Just think about the words you'll use before talking to him about it. I'm sure he'll understand one day."
Quinn smiled at her mother's advice. Even simple words from her give her strength and calmness. "He's really excited though. He'll start school in about 2 weeks."
"You better tell Sam to send us pictures on his first day." Judy said and the other two nodded.
"I'll tell him. Speaking of Sam, you guys enjoy breakfast for a while. I'll go check on the husband to see if he's awake." She said and stood up. She went inside their room and saw Sam still asleep. She sat on the bed and leaned over to his ears.
"Hey, babe. Good morning. Breakfast time." She said, rubbing Sam's arm.
Sam slowly opened his eyes and turned to face his wife. "Good morning." He said and kissed her on the cheek. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down so she was lying on the bed. His face was buried on her as he went back to sleep. "Let's sleep more." He whispered.
Quinn giggled. "Sam, I know you're tired but it's time to get up. Our parents need to be in the airport in 6 hours. We gotta make most of the time." She said and kissed him on the head.
"Okay, but you owe me some Sam time. Andrew got in the way last night when we were supposed to be alone." He whispered again, not moving.
"Well, you can't blame your son. He wanted to stay here." She said, giggling.
"He wouldn't have wanted it if you didn't ask him to."
"I had to consider my son's feelings. Come on, get up. We'll have us time tonight. " Quinn got up but Sam pulled him back down.
"Kids are out there with our parents. Maybe we can have some us time right now." Sam said in a teasing voice. He started kissing her neck and Quinn just kept giggling.
"Oh my goodness, Sam. Our parents AND our children are outside. We can't be here busying ourselves." She said and both of them giggled.
"Just lock the door. They won't notice." Sam's eyes were already open and he was giving her that sexy smirk and she was already giving in. Quinn's back was now flat on the bed and half of Sam's body was on top of her and their lips were locked on each other.
They made out for quite a bit and Quinn realized it would be embarrassing if someone suddenly opened the door and saw them making out. "Okay, babe. Stop it. We have all the time tonight." Quinn stood up and went for the door but Sam caught him in his arms and carried the now screaming and laughing Quinn. Sam locked the door and lightly threw her back the bed.
"I missed my wife last night and now I can't get enough of her." Sam said giggling as he went on top of Quinn and crashed his lips on her.
"Sam... We can't... Do this right now... Our parents are just... Outside." Quinn said in between kisses but Sam didn't mind her. He continued kissing her and when he licked her lower lip to ask for entrance, Quinn lost it. Her legs wrapped around his waist as he deepened the kissing and their tongues were now ravaging on each other. Quinn pulled Sam's shirt up and removed it while Sam pulled Quinn's shorts down to her knees.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Quinn? Are you okay? We heard screaming!" Judy shouted as she knocked. Sam and Quinn laughed out loud. Apparently, fate wasn't letting them spend some quality time. When no one answer 'cause their lips went back to kissing, Judy knocked more.
"Quinnie? Are you guys okay in there?"
Quinn laughed out again and Sam move away from her and lied on the other side of the bed.
"We're fine, mom! We'll be out in a second!"
Sam covered his face. Not sure if he was laughing about the incident or upset that they were interrupted. Quinn on the other hand couldn't stop laughing. She pulled her shorts up and faced Sam.
"Tonight, okay? You have me all to yourself." She smiled and kissed him on the lips. "Now, put your shirt back on. We gotta get out soon or my mom will break our door." She joked and went out.
A couple of minutes later, Sam followed her. When asked what the screaming was about, Quinn said it was a bug that suddenly disappeared. They spent the rest of the morning chatting until it was time to go to the airport. Sam loaded his 2 month old Range Rover with their stuff and the family brought them to the airport at late noon. Sam's family was flying back to Nashville while Quinn's mom was headed to San Francisco for a seminar. They got back to the house at about 4 in the afternoon and the kids sat on the couch for their daily Barney Marathon.
Suddenly, Sam called Quinn from their room.
"Hey, babe. Can you come over here for a sec?"
Quinn walked in. "What's up?" She asked, peaking from the door.
"Do you know if our photo album still has space? I can't seem to find it." Sam asked, checking out the cabinets.
"I'm not really sure. Where did you place it the last time you developed your photos?" Quinn asked, helping him look for it.
"I don't remember but can you please look for it while I'm gone? I'm just gonna have the photos from yesterday printed." He grabbed his bag of camera and wore his shoes.
"Yeah, sure. I'll see where I can find it but just in case, I think you should buy another photo album."
"Okay. I'll drop by the store later. I'm gonna go now babe. I have about 250 photos from yesterday. This might take a while." Sam stood up and kissed his wife. They walked out of the room together and Sam went to the door.
"Make sure you'll be home in time for dinner."
"I will. Love you Mom. Love you kids." Sam shouted just before closing the door.
When Sam left, Quinn started to look for their missing photo album. She checked their room but it wasn't there. She checked the living room but there was still no sign of the photo album. She then remembered just a couple of weeks ago that she browsed the photo album in Andrew's room.
She went inside Andrew's room and looked for it. Just like she thought, it was inside Andrew's cabinet. She grabbed it and went out to sit with her kids. She browsed the album and saw really adorable interesting photos.
One that caught her eye was a photo of her during labour. She was all sweaty and almost pale. It was the day when Abby was born.
Andrew was watching some Spongebob while Sam and Quinn were sitting on the couch. They just got home from grocery shopping and all Quinn could think of doing was sit down and get a foot massage from Sam.
"On the toes please, Sam." Quinn requested as he massaged her toes.
"There. Feel any better?" He asked.
"I still don't feel anything. I can't wait to get this baby out of my tummy. I'm gonna go to the spa every single day." She said, resting her head on the arm rest of the couch.
"Labour's pretty hard from what I've heard. Are you sure you want the baby out already?"
"I don't care. I just want her out. I want to see her and I want to relax." Quinn said as her eyes were slowly closing.
"Okay." Sam giggled. "Keep saying it. It might come true." He added and laughed as he kept massaging her feet.
Less than a minute later, Quinn opened her eyes and looked at Sam. "Oh my God, Sam."
He looked back at her. "What is the baby out already? That fast?" He laughed out.
Quinn's face remained stunned. "My water just broke."
"Oh, yeah I forgot about that part." Sam laughed again and continued massaging with eyes focused on Spongebob.
"Sam, my water just broke."
"Babe, you don't have to scare me. I've already practice my face for when you finally go into labour." Sam laughed. "It goes like this." Sam faced her with a fish face which was his practiced face for when he'll be surprised.
"Sam, listen to me. My water JUST BROKE." She emphasized on her last words. Sam's face was starting to look like hers and he just realized she was telling the truth when his side of the couch was already wet.
"Oh my God. Your water just broke." Sam said.
"That's what I've been telling you for the past minute! Bring me to the hospital!" Quinn shouted and Sam jumped up in panic.
"Okay, okay, okay." He was spinning in place, not knowing what to do. "Uhm, what to do, what to do, what to do..."
"GET THE BAG AND YOUR CAR KEYS!" Quinn shouted.
"Yes! I knew that. Where are my keys, where are my keys, where are my keys." He was roaming around the house.
"YOUR POCKET!" Quinn shouted again.
"Right! I'm gonna get the bag now. Andrew, get up! We have to go!" Sam was running all over the place. In a matter of 10 minutes, Sam finally got his family inside the car. 5 minutes later, they were in the hospital and Quinn was brought to the delivery room.
Sam called up Kurt and Blaine so that Andrew will have company while Sam went inside with his wife. 3 hours later, a healthy baby girl was welcomed to the world by her parents.
Quinn kept laughing, remembering that day. If she wasn't in pain that time, she would have laughed out loud at how Sam reacted. Another was a photo of Andrew and his father on Sam's birthday. That was a really funny week, she thought.
Sam's birthday was on Friday and Monday was a really frustrating day for him. His camera was missing. He needs to leave for work in about 15 minutes and he was really angry that he can't find his camera.
"Where did you last place it, Sam? Calm down. Stop screaming. You're gonna wake up the baby." Quinn said as Sam was roaming around the room. Andrew was eating breakfast and the couple were in their room with the sleeping baby Abby.
"I need that camera Quinn. I'm gonna use it for the LA tourists today at the museum. I'm in charge to take photos!" He shouted in a whispering kind of way.
"Then just use your other camera. Isn't that the reason why we bought an extra one?"
"I need the other one, Quinn. That has better quality and I need good photos." He scratched his head, feeling hopeless.
"It's better to have low quality photos than none at all." Quinn handed her the Sony Digital Camera. "Stop whining and get your butt to the museum. You're gonna be late. We'll look for your camera when you get home."
Sam was left with no choice. She was right. He just wanted to get that day over with. He kissed his wife and left for work.
On Wednesday, Andrew had questions for Sam during dinner time.
"Daddy, do you like taking pictures?" He asked.
"Of course. I love taking pictures. That's what daddy does in his job." Sam answered, munching on the pasta.
"Are you excited for your birthday?"
Sam and Quinn both giggled. "Why? Do you have a gift for daddy to be excited about?" He joked.
"What do you got for daddy, honey?"
"It's a surprise." He smiled.
"Well, I can't wait till Friday." Sam said. He really didn't believe his son. The only possible gift Andrew can give his dad was a big hug and kiss. He thought that was more than enough.
Friday came and Sam just got home from dinner. They were just going to have dinner as a family and some friends will come by the house on Sunday. Dinner was deliciously made by Quinn and also the cake. Sam blew the candles and they took a family photo together. Suddenly, Andrew ran to his room without permission. A couple of seconds later, he was back out in the dining area, carrying something wrapped in newspaper.
"What's that, honey?" Quinn asked.
"I got daddy a birthday present." He smiled and Sam figured it out already.
"Come here and show daddy what you have." Sam said, calling his son.
Andrew stood in front of him and gave him his 'gift'. "You said you like taking pictures."
Sam opened it and without surprise, it was indeed his missing camera. "This is daddy's camera."
"From, Andrew." He said. "With love." Andrew added, forming a heart shape with his hands. All the anger and stress Sam had about that camera from Monday became compassion and love for his son. He stole his father's camera just so he could give his dad a gift for his birthday.
"Give daddy a birthday hug." Sam asked as Andrew hugged him.
"Happy birthday, daddy." Andrew said in his ears.
"I love you, baby. Thank you." Sam said, while hugging. Quinn couldn't help but be teary eyed with what she was seeing.
"I love you." Andrew replied and Sam felt like his life became complete just by the three words from his son.
"Give me the camera, Sam. I'll take a picture of you two." Quinn said, reaching for his camera.
Quinn smiled, remembering that day. She loves her family so much and she can feel the bond that everyone has for each other. A few moments later of more reminiscing, Sam got back with a photo album of Abby's 1st birthday.
During dinner, Quinn opened up a topic the she hopes Sam would agree on.
"So, babe. Mrs. Figgins lost her head pastry chef a few days ago."
"Mrs. Figgins? The owner of the pastry shop a few blocks away?" He asked.
"Yup. They're closed for 2 days now. They're not opening back until they find a new one."
"Oh." Sam paused, drinking water. "Well, goodluck with her."
"I was thinking..." She started and Sam stopped eating. He looked at her in surprise.
"You want to work there?" He asked.
"Well... She did try and offer me the job. I told her I won't give an answer until I talk to you about it."
"Do you...want it?"
"I don't know. If it's okay with you, I guess. I'd like to try it." She looked at him with pleading eyes.
"What about the kids? Where are we gonna leave them?" He asked, finishing his plate.
"Mrs. Figgins told me I don't really need to leave the house since I have my own equipment. They have other chefs there but the head gave some really good additions to the menu, which was her own recipes."
"Uhm... Okay. Are you gonna work alone here? Isn't that too much to handle?"
"She's only requesting for a special dessert I can offer. I was thinking of selling them my Banana Bread Cake and Red Velvet Cupcakes."
"Mhmm... Those are your specialties. Do you think you can handle it?" He asked.
"She can send in one helper with me who'll bring the goods to the shop. It's a really nice offer. I get to stay in and just bake all day. Plus, I gonna get paid." She smiled at him, waiting for his approval.
Sam sighed, thinking he has no choice. "Okay, fine. You can accept the job." He smiled at his wife whose lips were reaching her ears in joy.
"Thank you, babe. I'm really excited about this." She said, grinning.
"But if anything happens, babe. I mean, if you can't handle it anymore, you have to stop okay? I can take care of our budget."
"It's one way of helping with all our expenses in this house, Sam. Plus, I get to do something that I love. I never thought I'd actually be into baking." She giggled.
"Well, whatever makes you happy." Sam smiled. They finished off with their dinner and went to bed. The night didn't end there for the two. As promise, Sam and Quinn spent the rest of the night making love with each other. Sleep only came in when it was about 3 in the morning.
