Brown clashed with blue in a battle of wills. The wind blew long black hair in the wind, causing the eery silence to become ever more uncomfortable to the man watching.
"Kagome... Kikyo..." InuYasha whispered as he forced down the dread he felt growing within the pit of his stomach. Kagome had been acting weird all night, fidgeting and gazing off into the distance, like she was waiting for something. Once their group had made camp and settled down, she had waited for the others to fall asleep, slipping from her sleeping bag, careful not to wake Shippo, and silently heading into the forest. Worried, he had followed Kagome, taking care to make no noice as he followed her from the trees, golden eyes glued upon her petite form, puppy ear twitching, listening for danger as they came to the Well's clearing.
And like Sesshomaru had just punched him in the gut at full strength, he felt his breath leave him.
There she stood, Kikyo, regal and as apathetic as always, standing inches from the Well.
"You do not belong." Kikyo finally spoke, her brown eyes hard with many unreadable emotions, but something in her gaze set his instincts abuzz. They warned him to interfere, to get Kagome away from Kikyo, but he found himself frozen. No matter how loud his instincts screamed for him to move, he stayed within the trees. "Go home." Kikyo ordered.
Kagome closed her eyes, scoffing ever so softly, her face twisting just the slightest, as she raised her hand to the strands of hair flowing in her face. She gently tucked the locks of ebony in place, eyes opening half mist, a sharp glint making them darker.
"Neither do you." She countered. "We have talked about this before Kikyo. When I had pierced InuYasha with my arrow, you threw me down the well after telling me we do not belong." She said as she stepped closer to the older women she was reincarnated from. "You and I do not belong in this time."
Kikyo's pale lips tilted downwards as something flashed in her eyes, leaving just as quickly as it had appeared. She too, walked closer to Kagome, her red hakamos making it seem as if she glided.
Both Miko's stood face to face, circling one another.
Near perfect mirror images.
Like two drops of water.
"I am glad you understand, Girl. Then there shall be no difficulties."
"And what do you mean by that, Kikyo?"
"This," pale arms reached out, pink Miko Ki encasing Kikyo's long thing fingers, power surging out from her palm, shooting towards Kagome. Kikyo bent her knees and pushed her body forward to battle the backlash of her power and Kagome's.
Kagome's eyes widened as she saw the familiar pink light. But, training soon kicked in making her ocean blue eyes sharpen to a darker blue almost black color. Raising her own hands up in an X over her chest, and in one quick movement, she brought them down, her own pink purification powers meeting Kikyo's blast beacon, both fighting for dominance.
The amount of power put behind both attacks in the head to head collision caused an explosion. Both Miko's tried to withstand it but the force was to great, sending them sailing through the air.
Kikyo cried out as her back connected with a tree, her porcelain clay skin cracking, gasping for air as her breath left her.
Kagome grunted as her back meet the Bone Eater's Well. She felt the wood collapse under the force she had been thrown back by and in a matter of seconds it collapse with her.
She saw the eternal blue light of time engulf her, the white orbs spinning lazily around her. But red began to bleed into the blue, slowly turning the familiar blood into the color of crimson.
Kagome screamed as the light brightened and began to pull her down with suck force she might as well have been free falling from a plane.
"InuYasha!"
Kikyo staggered up to her feet, one arm clutching at her back.
Her eyes widened as she saw a blur of red speed to the well.
InuYasha...
"Kagome!" InuYasha yelled as he made to jump in the well but an angry red light flashed, shooting straight up into the sky, distorting the beautiful cloudless night and turning the nights sky red. InuYasha cried out as red electricity attacked him body.
"InuYasha!" Kikyo cried as she ran to his side. As her hand went to meet his shoulder the red electricity sparked and burned her hand. "Ahh!" Kikyo screamed as she fell to her knees.
"Ka-go...me!" InuYasha bit out through the pain, reaching out towards the damaged well, crying out as more lighting attacked his body, his face, wrist, hips, and ankles blazing.
Kikyo looked at InuYasha, face solem as she cradled her burnt hand, eyes locked on the Well. "It has begun." She whispered as she stared at the demonic markings that littered his face and out stretched hand.
InuYasha gave one more cry of pain before he went still.
Kikyo gently pulled him into her lap and smiled as she began to notice her fading hands. She turned tear filled eyes to the Well. "Please make things right... Kagome." She whispered using her name for the first time out loud.
