Ducky and McGee walked over and helped Jimmy up and moved him over to the couch. Abby instantly started to cry. Ziva stood, walked to the other side of the room, and slid down against the wall a soft cry escaped from her. Gibbs turned and ran down the hall towards Tony's room. He shoved his way into his son's room. He watched as a doctor shoved the paddles into his chest and shouted clear. Other doctors and nurses followed orders and tried to force Gibbs out. Two of the nurses and one of the doctors grabbed him and pulled him out of the room.

"TONY! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE! DON'T LEAVE ME!" Gibbs cried.

"I'm calling it ti... wait I think we're getting him back!" The doctor called.

They were able to revive Tony at literally the last second. Gibbs was horrified at how close he had come to losing his son. It had been nearly an hour since the latest incident. Now doctor Goldman had re-entered the room. With the latest update. Gibbs held his breath and prayed for good news. Hew wasn't sure how much more of this he could take.

"What's the verdict?" Gibbs asked.

"I'm afraid it isn't good news." Dr. Goldman replied.

"What do you mean?!" Gibbs demanded.

"After our latest test. We determined that Anthony's remaining kidney is failing a lot faster than it was before the one injured in the crash was removed." Dr. Goldman explained.

"What happens now?" McGee asked.

"We need to get him a transplant as soon as possible or he will die." Dr. Goldman explained.

"What about the list? I mean I thought there was a list of other people needing a kidney and that Tony is at the bottom." Ziva questioned.

"Well due to the extreme circumstances he would be pushed up to the top but the good news is. That he needs a kidney." Dr. Goldman explained.

"How is that good news he is dying?" Jackson asked.

"The advantage to kidney transplants is that. You can get a kidney from a live donor because most people have two and can live healthy lives with just one. Provided that they are healthy and both are functioning properly." Jimmy explained.

"Exactly" Dr. Goldman replied.

"Yeah but even if he's on the top of the list. People don't always find donors in time." McGee said.

"Which is why in the case of most patients we ask family members to be tested. Just in case they are a match." Dr. Goldman explained.

"Could friends get tested if family and friends are unwilling to?" Ziva asked.

"I thought you were family?" Dr. Jones asked.

"It's a long story." Ducky replied.

"Tony only has two living relatives his father and one uncle who is an alcoholic and has had kidney problems in the past." Jimmy explained.

"Well a lot of times extended family, friends, and co-workers will get tested if it comes down to it." Dr. Goldman replied.

"I am willing to be tested. I've done it before." Abby volunteered.

"Me too." McGee added.

"I am as well." Ziva added.

"I'm in." Jimmy added.

"I'll do it." Gibbs said.

"Ducky? Jackson? Are you in?" Ziva asked.

"They are too old." Jimmy replied.

"Palmer!" Gibbs warned.

"Mr. Palmer is right though. I am eighty and Jackson is older than I. At our age it would be unfair to do that to a young man like Anthony." Ducky explained.

"Well that is very good. I need to get to my other patients but I will send somebody to run the blood tests right away." Dr. Goldman replied.

Several hours later everybody's blood tests had been run. Ducky and Jackson had gone out for dinner. The rest of the group was staring at the doctor who had run the tests. Waiting for her to give the results of the tests.

"I have everybody's test results in." Dr. Harris explained.

"And?" Abby asked.

"There were two matches in the group." Dr. Harris replied.

"Who?" McGee asked.

"Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mr. James Palmer. However there are a few other things we need to discuss." Dr. Harris replied.

"Great! I'll do it!" Jimmy cried.

"Actually Mr. Palmer. You are one of the things that needs to be discussed." Dr. Harris explained.

"What?" Jimmy asked.

"Doctor/Patient confidentiality forbids me from discussing that with you in the presence of others." Dr. Harris explained.

"Alright" Jimmy replied.

Jimmy followed Doctor Harris down the hall to a more private office type room. Jimmy sat down on the other side of the desk and waited for the doctor start speaking.

"So why can't I donate a kidney?" Jimmy asked.

"You said on your form that you are a diabetic." Dr. Harris stated.

"Yes but only mildly." Jimmy replied.

"Unfortunately even if it's only a mild case. That automatically disqualifies you." Dr. Harris explained.

"I guess I should have known that. I did go to and graduate medical school after all but I just wanted to help Tony so much. I mean never really had kidney problems. A few infections when I was younger. I would feel terrible. If I gave Tony a kidney and it started to fail and he got sick again and died and I know that Tony would never forgive himself. If after I gave him a kidney my remaining one started to fail." Jimmy explained.

"Well I am glad you see that now Jimmy and trust me. When it comes to family and medical stuff your brain just shuts down." Dr. Harris replied.

Not long after Jimmy went back with Doctor Harris. Ducky and Jackson arrived back at the hospital. Meaning that it was McGee and Ziva's turn to go for dinner.

"Why can't Jimmy be a donor?" Abby asked.

"It is because of his diabetes." Ducky explained.

"But he's only mildly diabetic." Abby argued.

"Yes but if one of his kidneys began to shut down as a result. Well that would tragic for either Anthony or Jimmy and lead to unimaginable guilt for the other." Ducky explained.

"What's going to happen to Tony now?" Abby asked.

"I am going to donate my kidney to Tony." Gibbs explained.

"Are you sure Leroy?" Jack asked.

"Yes dad! Why wouldn't I be?!" Gibbs demanded.

"Because Jethro there are extraordinary risks to the donor." Ducky explained.

"I don't care about that! It's my fault he's lying in that bed! Needing that stupid kidney in the first place!" Gibbs yelled.

"Well if you are sure." Ducky replied.

"I am Duck!" Gibbs screamed.

"Ducky there is just one more thing you need to know. If you donate a kidney to Anthony. You cannot be a field agent anymore." Ducky explained.

"It's worth it for my son." Gibbs replied.

Jimmy had tears running down his face. In his head he knew all along that he could not donate a kidney to Tony but in heart. He just wanted to help his friend. Jimmy grabbed his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number. That before today he never thought he would have to use.

"Anthony DiNozzo Senior?"

"Sir this is Jimmy Palmer. I work with your son."

"Yeah so."

"Two days ago Tony was involved in serious car accident on the job."

"Is he dead?"

"Don't worry he is alive."

"Then why are you calling me?"

"Because he severely injured one of his kidneys and the other is failing. He needs a transplant as soon as possible."

"And this affects me how?"

"Well he is at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pennsylvania. I don't know the town it was so crazy I just followed. Dr. Mallard's instructions."

"Again so?"

"I was hoping you'd come down and get tested to be a donor."

"I have a deal to finalize next week."

Jimmy angrily thrust his phone across the room. He should have known that Senior would not care about his son. He felt tears well up in his eyes. It wasn't long before he completely broke down. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned around.

"Are you alright Mr. Palmer?" Ducky asked.

"No I am not!" Jimmy cried.

"Well why not?" Ducky asked.

"Because I can't help Tony!" Jimmy cried.

"I am sure Anthony will understand and just be glad that you were tested." Ducky assured.

"It's not just that." Jimmy sighed.

"What else?" Ducky asked.

"I called DiNozzo Senior." Jimmy replied.

"Why would you do that?" Ducky asked.

"Because Tony needs a kidney!" Jimmy yelled.

"We have already found a donor for Anthony." Ducky replied.

"Who?" Jimmy asked.

"Jethro is going to do it. He is going to speak with Anthony real quick and then be prepped for surgery." Ducky informed him.

A/N: Gibbs is giving Tony a kidney. How will Tony take it when he finds out though? Especially since Gibbs can no longer be an agent after the surgery. I want to finish this soon. New chapter please review and thanks for reading.
