Chapter. 15: Accidents
Loki held the all-powerful scepter is his hand and looked around at his enemies. All of the Avengers stood around him, except one, Miss. Romanoff seemed to be missing. He smiled, one less to worry about. The power in his staff seemed to vibrate, barely being contained, he did not fully understand what it could do, but he knows it will be powerful. One of them shouted out, the patriotic one, the once, next to Thor he despised the most. He believes he represents his country, because of what? Because he wears their colours? Such a foolish reason. Loki laughed at the attempt to threaten him.
"Give it up, you're surrounded." He yelled, Loki merely laughed, one blast from his sceptre would knock him out. Loki glanced down at the metallic stick, its blue energy pulsating. He wondered what it would do this time.
"Not for long," The god answered, "Even I don't know fully what it does!" He twisted and pushed his hand, making the scepter unleash its unearthly magic. The 'Captain' crouched down and covered himself with the shield. Mortals, Loki scoffed, always needing other things to protect them. He expected the blast to bounce off the shield and explode but instead he heard it hit someone. Loki turned around to see who would be brought down before him when he heard a scream. Not one of normal quality, one to make a heart stop pumping, one so encased in agony and torture you have no choice to stop in your tacks. He placed the scream to the face.
Natasha.
Loki's eyes widen, she wasn't supposed to be here, he wasn't supposed to kill her, even wound her. He watched as she crumpled to the floor, even in the darkness he could see her face pale. He ran to her. Without thinking he just did, as if something else was controlling his body, all he could do was pick up her cold body in his arms. He heard cries behind him, cries of sorrow, anger, and his name. He felt the wind rush by as a shield flew by his face. Loki grasped Natasha, while still holding the sceptre, summoned as much magic as possible to disappear to somewhere else. They landed in an unknown room, a bedroom. It was bland and basic but Loki did not care about this at that moment. Carefully he placed her body on the bed. Her skin was not white as he expected, but purple, blue veins intricately woven down her arms, hands, and up into her neck. His eyes travelled down her figure; her stomach still slowly and faintly made the sequenced rise and fall. He breathed a quick sigh of relief, then reconsidered what he had just done, he had nearly killed, they probably think she is dead, then took her, and then vanished. He shook his head, it was an idiotic move he shouldn't have done, now he was in some random mortals house, and have a half- dead spy with no way to heal her…
"What the hell am I going to do?"
Clint pulled out his gun and aimed at Loki, but anger and grief clouded his aim and was not able to get a shot on him. He saw Thor and Steve run after his but he was gone with Natasha in a matter of seconds. He still was firing bullets where they used to stand until Steve came up and pushed down his gun.
"Clint, she's gone."
The plane ride back to S.H.E.I.L.D was shrouded in gloom. Barton drove Natasha's plane, everyone else on the original one, even Tony sat in silence. They walked into the base, still silent. Director Fury walked to the group.
"So, where's Loki?" He asked, impatient.
"We didn't get him." Rodgers answered, "He escaped last minute." Fury looked over at the inaudible group of Avengers.
"Okay, so start looking again," He replied bluntly seeing no one move.
"There is something else… Agent Romanoff, she followed us, she got shot… she's dead." Fury stared at Steve for a moment then turned away for a moment then back to the group.
"You mean to tell me my best agent, was killed by one godamned shot?! She went to how many mission, and some idiot with a stick killed her!? Well where the hell is her body?" Steve eyes flicked down for a moment before answering.
"He took her, sir." Fury was enraged now.
"Well find that son of a bitch now! If she isn't here now she isn't dead!" The director stormed away, in the distance they saw one of the members of S.H.I.E.L.D walking out of a hallway just to be pushed down by Nick.
"Well, standing here will help no one." Said Steve, taking charge. "Tony, Bruce stay on gamma radiation, or anything else you could find with computers. I'm sure Loki won't stay silent for long. The rest of us can either go to back to the warehouse, or stay guard here…" The Avengers nodded, Thor first speaking.
"I would like to go back to the building," He stated, "I know what my brother would leave behind." Steve nodded then replied that he will go too.
"Clint, you're okay with staying here?" Clint nodded.
"If he comes I would be happy to escort him in to a nice jail cell."… Or death… he said, keeping that last part to himself.
"Alright…let's find Loki."
Here is another chapter! Sorry about the bit of swearing, I usually don't like to swear, especially in this because I am worried others will be offended, I just felt that it was the right thing that character would be saying. Anyways thanks again for reading!
