Chapter 10
A little while after the whole bathroom incident Hermione was all dressed in Percy's old clothes. She couldn't resist sniffing them. Feeling all warm and giddy for wearing Percy's clothes. She sat on the couch in the living room by herself. Percy told her to stay put while he fetched something from his old room. So Hermione did as she was told and waited patiently. Her only surprise she wasn't feeling nervous anymore, it was like it was gone. Now it only felt good and natural, like everything was going exactly as planed.
Hermione thought Percy took forever. 'That's an awfully long time to just grab something in his old room' she thought, bored already. Hermione gave a long sigh and leaned back to the couch. Her eyes ventured to the living-room table, she saw some red-cheery sweets on a plate. They looked incredible tasty. One couldn't harm. Hermione reached forward to grab one of the sweets when she heard someone yell.
"No! Don't eat them!" Percy rushed down the stairs yelling. Hermione withdrew her hand like lightning had hit her. Staring wide-eyed up at Percy confused. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." Feeling embarrassed by his rushed behavior. "It's just that I saw Fred and George leave them there before and after they left they were grinning like lunatics up to mischief's."
Reality downed to Hermione. Percy just saved her life, or not really her life, but he saved her from being humiliated. "Trust me. I know what my brothers are capable off. I learned that the hard way." Percy chuckled by the traps he went for in the past. Hermione stared at him in awe. This is exactly the reason she had a crush on him in the first place. He could be so darn cute and act so chivalrous for absolutely no big deal. Hermione gave a pearly white smile, her eyes sparkling with pure admiration.
"Thank you Percy." She saw him swallow and blush, highlighting his freckles. Then he scratched his head, a common act he did when nervous.
"W-would you like to come with me to the garden? The weather it quite nice today and I thought we could talk in privacy out there." He announced still blushing up to his ears. Hermione gave a soft quiet giggle. The butterflies returning. "Yes I'd like that very much." Percy gave her a desirable look, smiling tenderly at her. He reached out his hand to help her up from the couch.
Hermione didn't hesitate once, she placed her hand in his and he helped her up without breaking eye-contact. They just stood there for a moment, gazing into each other's eyes. Hermione's knees started to fail her, feeling weak all of sudden. No worries however, Percy had a good grip onto her and he would never let her fall.
When they were outside they felt the sun reflecting on their skin. Hermione took a deep breath of air, inhaling the firstly spring coming to life. Mrs Weasley had planted red and white roses all around the house, making it more charming. Their garden was humongous, she had spent her best summers here and she loved being outside. They even had their own small beck. That's where they usually took a bath when it was too hot outside. There was also a big oak tree that had a swing on it. The tree had been there since Percy was just a small kid, it brought along good memories.
Percy led them to the big oak tree, motioning with his hands for Hermione to sit down. She obliged and sat down on the grass. Percy sat down beside her. This was it she thought. They were going to discuss what happened last night. Her nervousness came back and she began to crack her knuckles together, and her breathings quicken heavily.
Percy saw her nervous state, thinking that she must as nervous as him, if not more. He couldn't help it, but he begun to laugh out loud. Hermione adverted from cracking her knuckles to stare at Percy utterly puzzled. "What's so funny?" she demanded to know, furrowing her brows.
Percy didn't stop laughing however just started laughing more, and quite frankly it was getting on Hermione's nerves.
"I'm sorry Hermione. It's just that-" he began, with no success and laughed again "-it's just that we're both so disoriented now that we don't even know where to begin with a conversation, about what happened last night. I don't know why I'm laughing either, it's just that I find it extremely hilarious. I'm sorry, I'm not usually like this." Tears sipping from his eyes by laughing to hard.
Hermione glared at him intimidating. How could he think this is even remotely funny!? It's not! She thought aggravated. Soon after she noticed the corners of her mouth drew upwards and she couldn't contain her own laughter any longer. Why she started laughing was beyond her own knowledge, maybe it was because of Percy's contagious laughter, she didn't care. It just felt glorious and feeling free to let this out, sitting next to Percy and laugh at absolutely no reason at all.
The laughing eventually quiet down and they just sat in silence, staring out to the small beck. The silence didn't feel pressured or awkward, it was a comfortable silence. Percy shifted on the grass and turned to watch Hermione's feminine face. The beauty of her face was highlighted by the sunshine, making her look breath-taking beautiful. He had the urge to kiss her just there, but he didn't.
Hermione sensed him watching her, so she faced him with a relaxed smile. His stomach fluttered with millions of emotions, just to see her smile at him made him warmer and happier than he felt for a very long time. She had the most magical smile he ever witnessed. He gave her a smile back when he realized he'd been staring at her like a dumb puppy dog. Scratching his head he gazed back at the beck.
"This is nice" he confirmed.
Hermione breathed in and leaned back on her arms, resting on the grass."Mmm, absolutely wonderful." However something in her head was aching to break its way out. Something she had been holding on far too long. She felt his hand on hers, and she gazed deep into his eyes.
"Hermione" he began.
Hermione was now more alert to the conversation as she detected a slight change in his voice. Her heart-beat quickened. "-if it's okay for me to ask you this-"Huh? This was not what she was excepting."-but how come you just kissed me outside Ginny's room yesterday? Don't take this the wrong way, but it did take me by surprise…..a good surprise however."
Hermione's brain had stopped to function. What was she supposed to answer to that? There was no way she could tell him about the truth or dare even if she wanted to. The spell Ginny chanted prevented anyone from saying anything anyway. So how was she going to explain it without lying? Wasn't her confession last night proof enough? Sure she was drunk when she confessed it but still it counts? Doesn't it?
"I-I ehm.." she stuttered. Percy looked carefully at her, preparing himself for the worst scenario, ready for her response. "You have to understand this Percy. But kissing you outside Ginny's room yesterday was not with my doing, or my decision for that matter." That wasn't exactly what he excepted her to say. Did she lie to him about her feelings for him yesterday?
"Don't get me wrong. Because that kiss we shared was probably the best kiss I ever experienced in my entire life." Hermione blushed when she felt Percy squeeze her hand a little bit tighter, a heartwarming smile plastered on his face.
"I mean, if I had to chose or decide for myself I would probably not be sitting here right now, having this conversation with you. I'm very shy when it comes to my emotions. I always wait with telling my feelings to someone. Sometimes I wait to long." Percy was now staring at her intently, mainly because he couldn't focus on any words coming from her mouth. He felt extremely perplexed. Hermione also noticed his confusion and gave a deep frustrated sigh, slumping her shoulders. 'Apparently it didn't work to practice any words in the bathtub. I'm making a mess of it!'
Hermione sat up straight and stretched her slumped shoulders. "How about this. You ask me yes or no questions about yesterday, about why I'd kiss you." Percy quirked an eyebrow. "Why can't you just tell me?"
She really wanted to tell him, and explain everything. However the bloody spell prevented her from saying anything. "It's not that easy to explain. Ginny did something to prevent anyone of the girls from saying anything to outsiders." Percy gave her an odd stare.
"Please Percy, just do this for me. Ask me the yes or no questions then hopefully you will find out, and in that way I'm not really saying anything either." Percy sighed and eventually gave in and smiled to her. "Okay Hermione." She gave him a small smile back, but with less effort this time.
"Hmm… let me think-"he started going through the worst cause of scenario that could happened yesterday."- did something about last night evolve with anything about forbidden magic?" Hermione almost laughed out loud. Forbidden magic?! Preposterous! How could he even think that she would dabble with that.
"Absolutely not!"
Percy hold up his hand in surrender when he detected the stern tone in her voice. Ready for a curse being sent at him. "Alright, I guess not forbidden magic-"Hermione snorted "Hmm did you drink or eat something that would force you take actions or forcing you to tell the truth at all time?" Hermione was surprised and yet impressed by his quick knowledge. This man truly was intelligent. How on earth did he manage to find out that?
"I'm assuming that's a yes, seeing the surprised look on your face. Quite adorable actually." He teased, grinning wickedly. Hermione blushed by his compliment and nodded her head. He began with his questions again. "Did any events from last night contain any nudity" wiggling his eyebrows seductively
You could see Percy was joking by the stupid smile he had on his face. Hermione scrunched her face in disgust. "Seeing Parkinson naked?! Yuk! No thank you!" Percy laughed by that.
"Okay then, we established that. No nudity." He laughed. Hermione rolled her eyes thinking "men"
"Okay another question. Hmm did you guys do anything special? Like play a game?" Hermione thought about that question. Well truth or dare was some kind of game so she nodded her head. Percy raised an eyebrow, now more interested to the subject.
"Was this game by any chance truth or dare?" This man was to good to be true! Honestly! Hermione did a happy dance inside her head. She nodded her head excited. Then she saw a drastic change on Percy's facial expression. Wondering if she done or said something wrong.
"You were dared to kiss me. Weren't you?" Hermione was shocked to say the least. Not by his question, but the way he asked it. Sounding demining, almost sad and disappointed. However it was partly true. "Yes and no actually." Now Percy adverted his eyes from looking at her. Her stomach felt like little tight knots hurting her. This wasn't supposed to happen. Then she had it.
"Blast it!" she stated loudly, gaining Percy's attention back. "Ginny told me that I had to mmppff" her mouth clamped shut before she could even finish. The only sound that came out was small murmurs. Hermione rolled her eyes. It was worth a shot. She was going to kill, or not kill that was to drastic. However she was going to curse Ginny to Oblivion and back, that's for sure!
"This is extremely frustrating Percy. Believe me, I really do want to tell you but I just can't."
Percy nodded his head, telling her that he understood. Hermione didn't know what to say, the scene suddenly felt awkward around them.
"Can I ask you one more question?" Hermione looked confused but said yes nonetheless. "When you kissed me last night. Do you regret doing it?" Hermione didn't hesitate.
"Yes"
Hermione widen her eyes in mortal terror when she realized what she said."I mean no. No I don't regret a th-"
"I see" Percy said interrupting her. He was just about to stand up from his sitting position when a hand grabbed hold to his arm, stopping him.
"No Percy you misunderstood. I only regret that our first kiss was shared like that. If I could do it again I would. Then I would do it the right way, I would talk about my feelings I have for you, not like last night when I was drunk. After that I would kiss you like nothing else mattered. That's how I wanted our first kiss to be like, instead I was forced to kiss you by a silly game. I don-"
"Hermione don't bla-"
"No!" she interrupted, feeling more emotionless than ever before. She was in the verge of crying, for what reasons she didn't understand. She just knew that her feelings were clearly unbalanced right now and she didn't know what she was saying, but she couldn't lose him now.
"I won't run away from my feelings anymore! If you can't accept them, then you are surely not the right guy for me!" she snapped. Hermione knew she was being silly, and her brain couldn't focus on the right words for the moment and she regretted saying them almost right after when she saw Percy's expression.
"B-but?...I don't even…I mean you are…" Percy knew words were pointless now. So he did the only thing that came to mind. He acted on his feelings instead. Wrapping his arms around her petite body and kissed her deeply on the lips, hearing a stuffed gasp slipping from her mouth in surprise. It didn't take very long before she answered the kiss back however.
Kissing him back passionately, making every second away from him count. Gripping his shoulders while they devoured each other's lips. Percy stroked her wavy brown hair and gently tilted her head. Leaning their bodies down to the warm grass without breaking the kiss. Percy rested his weight on top of hers, not to heavy, still they felt completely connected. Kissing deeply with all lust they had on the grass.
Hermione bucked her hips up, touching his private parts. She heard him grunt satisfactory. Hermione smirked proudly to achieve that emotion from him. She knew they were going too fast, but darn it she couldn't resist his luscious lips any more or control her urges. That was in till Percy stopped kissing her and stared lovingly at her closed eyes.
"Hermione"
"Yes?" she breathed out, oblivious to the fact that he was watching her. "Open your eyes." She did as he asked and her brown chocolate eyes meet deep ocean blue. She smiled up to him, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.
"You are so incredible beautiful." She heard him whisper. Hermione couldn't stop herself from blushing, but smiled nonetheless. She pecked him in the lips. "However there is another thing I have to confess." What now?
Hermione's heart leapt out from her body.
"I found myself drawn to you three weeks ago. Then one week later I knew I was genuinely interested in you-"
Then Hermione died and went to heaven. Not really but almost.
"-and when you told me about your crush you had on me I was shocked. I couldn't believe that this incredible, witty, intelligent, attractive woman could ever be interested in me, but you were-"
Did she have a pulse left? Her breathings was under no control. Is this a dream? If so never wake me up she thought over and over.
"Remember when I asked you why you'd kiss me?" Hermione nod her head. How could she forget, it happened less than 3 minutes ago. "Your answer was that you were forced. You probably thought that I was disappointed. I'm sorry if I ever gave you that impression. Because that is far from the truth."
Hermione bit her lower lip, not knowing what to except here after.
"I'm glad you were forced to kiss me. Because if you hadn't none of this would ever happen. We would just go on with our lives and completely oblivious to each other's feelings, and eventually it would been too late for us. So I say it again, I'm glad you kissed me. Surprised perhaps but still glad. Cause there is nothing in the whole wild world that would make me regret that kiss, and I would like to share more kissing with you in the future. Remembering them like our first kiss should had been. Utterly in complete bliss."
Hermione didn't know what to say, all capacity for words was lost. She felt some salty on her cheek. Was she crying? Yes! Yes she was, and she didn't notice it in till now. Hermione sniffed, that was the most romantic thing a guy ever said to her. Giving a pearly white smile, with tears streaming out her eyes. Percy brushed the tears away with his thumb. Then he leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Starting off with gentle kissing then they gave it all they've got. Biting his lower lip teasingly, while he stuck out his tongue in her mouth, massaging her tongue with his. He began to kiss her jaw, venturing to her collarbone and then to her neck. Hermione moaned by ecstasy, when he kissed the spot behind her ear.
Letting his tongue taste her salty flavor. He couldn't get enough of her. Inside his head he was thinking 'mine' Feeling like a persuasive Slytherin. Although I don't think Hermione would disagree, she already knew that she belonged to him, and him to her.
They heard some footsteps closing by behind them and someone cleared its throat. "I ehm Sorry to interrupt your ehm session. But lunch is ready in 10 minutes." Mr. Weasley announced awkwardly. Both Hermione and Percy moved away from each other, staring at Arthur embarrassed. More so Hermione than Percy, she could hardly meet his eyes.
"Oh right! Thank you dad. We'll be there soon." Mr. Weasley felt in a worse position than his son. It was exactly these kind of scenes he never wanted to see his children in. He nodded his head and said goodbye and left them by rushed steps.
When he was gone Hermione and Percy stared at each other and soon after started laughing.
"Well that was awkward." Hermione said through giggles. "Yes. You could say that." Percy laughed as well. He stood up and then helped Hermione up. The laughter had stopped now and they were once again staring deep into each other's eyes, hands intertwined.
"Hermione, before we go in I would like to give you something." Hermione, tilted her head, but still very curious. "Yes? What is it?"
Percy reached down his extended pocket and found the item he was looking for. He handed it over to Hermione. "This is my first copy of Hogwarts A History. It is one of my most precious belongings. I want you to have it. Even if you already have one. However this one is special, this one is written by Godric Gryffindor himself, it's one of the kind" Hermione shook her head telling him no, her eyes hold so much uncertainty.
"No Percy I can't accept this. It's too much. Why would you even give away this to me? You said it was your most precious belonging."
Percy smiled, it was the most simple question he got today "As far as I see it, I found something more precious now than this book." Hermione raised an eyebrow to him. "What do you mean?" Percy chuckled. "For the brightest witch of our age you're not that clever. It's you silly. You are the most precious for me now, and I will do anything in my power to have it stay like that."
Hermione's lips started to tremble, feeling like she was about to cry again. This was too much. How could she be so lucky? She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips. Feeling one single tear slide down from her eye. They parted away from each other, only inches away she whispered.
"Thank you Percy." He smiled into her lips and pecked her once more then added. "Would you like to go on a date with me someday?"
She smiled innocently and hugged him tightly then whispered to his ear. "I would like that very much." Then leaning back, her hands still around his neck. Both were smiling. They shared one last kiss before they walked into the house, hand in hand to face whatever obstacles. It didn't matter though, because now they had each other.
