Chapter 6

Britt laughed as she took out her key. "I can't believe you threatened Felix. Actually I can but I should not have walked away when I did. Why can't you be here all the time?"

She opened the door and set the bag on the table. Regina smirked at the comment.

"Well dear, I do have a kingdom to run," she said. "Although you never know when I might pop up."

Britt took out the food and placed it on the table. "If you do, do that thing with the mirror. It's cool."

Regina laughed. "I promise dear. Now what is this meal you bought?"

"You are going to love this. They are called burgers," she said. "Trust me." Regina sat down and looked at it wearily. Britt got two sodas from the fridge and set them down.

"Take a bite," Britt said as she bit into hers. Regina gently picked up the burger and sniffed it. Britt watched in amusement as she slowly bit into her burger. Regina didn't say anything at first then her face showed how much she liked it.

"This is so much better than the food from my world," she said.

"Told you," she said and Regina playfully scoffed and waved her hand dismissively.

"Whatever," Regina replied.

They finished their meal and Britt asked if she wanted to go shopping. She jumped at the chance.

Britt felt she finally had a friend and Regina for the first time in a long time relaxed. "This world has so much stuff," she whispered as she looked at dresses.

"Oh no. We are going to get you some jeans," Britt said dragging her to another clothing section.

"Jeans?" Regina questioned.

Britt grabbed what she thought would look good on Regina and guided her to the dressing room. Regina selected a pair of jeans and Britt bought them.

They got back to her apartment and Britt stopped at seeing her sitting on the chair. Regina bumped from behind and she saw Britt's body go rigid.

"Mother," she said and a tremble shot through Regina thinking she was talking about Cora. She saw Britt continue walking and Regina closed the door. Regina looked upon Liesl and everything reminded her of Cora. She was on edge…perhaps even more.

"Britta, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend?" Liesl asked.

"None of your business mother," Britt said.

"Don't be rude Britta," she said. She got out of the chair and walked toward Regina. Regina forced herself to stand still.

"What's your name?" Liesl asked.

"Regina," she said.

"How do you know my daughter?" she asked.

"Mother, stop harassing her," Britt interjected. "In fact just leave me alone."

"Well, I can always come back. We have some matters to discuss," she said. She grabbed her purse. "Goodbye Britta." She walked past Regina and then left.

"Sorry," Britt apologized.

"At least your mother doesn't have magic," Regina said.

"True but she is just as crazy."
