Doomsday Part 2

The five ran tiredly for a few more minutes, the sound of Jackie's terrified voice coming into hearing. "No, but you can't! Please-" The five looked round the corner to see two Cybermen looking down on a woman in a blue denim jacket, defiantly Jackie Tyler. Pete took a gun he'd been carrying and fired it at the two metal men, the both of them falling to the ground. Jackie walked foreword, squinting her eyes to see the man who saved her. "Pete?" she asked, confused. Rose brought a hand to her mouth as she realised what was happening, the Doctor bringing an arm around her shoulder as he kissed her forehead in comfort.

"Hello, Jacks," Pete greeted the Parallel version of his deceased wife.

Jackie looked at him as if she were almost annoyed at the fact he was there. "I said there were ghosts, but that's not fair," she said to the Doctor. "Why him?"

"I'm not a ghost," Pete shook his head gently at her.

"But you're dead," Jackie whispered, almost brokenly. "You died twenty years ago, Pete."

The Doctor, his arm still protectively around Rose, looked toward Jackie. "It's Pete from a different Universe," he said to her. "There are Parallel Worlds, Jackie. Every single decision we make creates a parallel existence, a different dimension where-" the Doctor was cut off by Jackie herself as she snapped, "Oh, you can shut up."

For once, the Doctor actually did as he was told, bringing Rose into a tight embrace as she watched her two parents. Jackie gazed at Pete as he smiled warmly at her. "Oh... you look old," she said, not realising what offence she could give.

"You don't," Pete replied with a small chuckle.

Jackie looked him up and down, wondering if she was seeing things or if he was actually there. "How can you be standing there?" she asked.

"Just got lucky... lived my life," he said with a shrug. "You were left on your own. You didn't marry again, or...?" he trailed off.

"There was never anyone else," Jackie shook her head. The Doctor looked at Mickey. Both smirked, knowing what she'd said was a full down lie as he listed the name's in his head. "Twenty years, though. Look at me - I never left that flat. Did nothing with myself."

"Brought her up," Pete gestured behind him to his Parallel daughter. "Rose Tyler. That's not bad." There was a long moment of silence between them, Pete clearing his voice. "In my world, it worked. All those daft little plans of mine; they worked. Made me rich," he told her.

Jackie looked as if she were about to chastise him for the comment. "I don't care about that," she gave a pause as she looked at the ground, then slowly back up at him. "How rich?"

"Very," Pete replied.

"Nah, I don't care about that," another pause as she did the same. "How very?" Pete laughed as Rose rolled her eyes at them, the Doctor smiling fondly at the ditsy blonde and Mickey just watched them carefully, but herself looking too serious for her comment to be a joke or a tension breaker.

"Thing is though, Jacks, you're... you're not my wife," he stuttered. "I'm sorry, but you're not. I mean, we both..." Jackie nodded while Pete looked as if he were fighting a losing battle. "You know, it's just sort of..." Looking as though he'd broken, given in, he started toward her. "Oh, come here," he said opening his arms. They met into a hug, Jackie starting to cry into his shoulder, Pete sweeping her off the ground and into his arms.

Ten minutes later, the Doctor and his small party were back in the Rift Chamber, the Doctor dumping two Magnaclamps he'd examined earlier (which he retrieved from a war zone between the Daleks and the Cybermen) onto Yvonne's desk, walking up to the window again to look at a Dalek and the levitating Genesis Ark. The Ark began to spin wildly, Dalek after Dalek shooting out of it. The Doctor stared in horror as it all began to make sense to him, the Time Lord technology, the Sphere and what was in the Ark.

"Time Lord science..." the Doctor muttered under his breath with terror. "It's bigger on the inside. It's a prison ship."

"How many Daleks?" Rose asked worridly as she watched the dozens of Daleks fly out of the Ark.

"Millions," the Doctor replied darkly. Pete walked away from the window, talking to Jackie as he took out a yellow button from his pocket. "I'm sorry, but you've had it. This world's gonna crash and burn. There's nothing we can do. We're going home. Jacks, take this," he tossed her the item.

"But they're destroying the city!" Jackie protested as she looked down at the object in his hands.

"I'd forgotten you could argue," he replied affectionately, taking the button from her hands and looping it around her neck himself. "It's not just London, it's the whole world," he continued taking her face in his hands. "But there's another world, just waiting for you, Jacks. And it's safe. As long as the Doctor closes the Breach. Doctor?" he asked. The Doctor turned around, an ecstatic smile plastered on his face as he wore the red and blue glasses. "Oh, I'm ready!" he exclaimed gleefully, rushing to a computer. "I've got the equipment right here. Thank you, Torchwood! Slam it down and close off both universes."

"Reboot systems," the computer said after he switched a few settings.

"But we can't just leave," Rose called. "What about the Daleks? And the Cybermen?" The Doctor stood up and walks toward the huge white wall, stopping in front of her. "They're part of the problem. And that makes them part of the solution. Oh yes!" he said happily, Rose emitting a nervous laugh. He looked around at the people in front of him, pointing to the specs we wore. "Well? Isn't anyone gonna ask? What is it with the glasses?" he asked quickly.

"What is it with the glasses?" Rose asked, grinning.

"I can SEE!That's what!" The Doctor exclaimed again. "'Cos we've got two separate worlds, but in-between the two separate worlds, we've got the Void. That's where the Daleks were hiding. And the Cybermen travelled through the Void to get here! And you lot - one world to another, via the Void! Oh, I like that. Via the Void!" he said thoughtfully, then took off his glasses and put them on Rose. "I've been through it," he added. "Do you see?" he asked again, dodging from side to side so Rose could see what he'd been seeing whenever he put on the glasses.

"What is it?" Rose asked, her hand reaching out to touch the floating colours around him.

"Void stuff," the Doctor replied, continuing to dodge.

"Like um..." Rose started, thinking of the right word. "Background radiation!"

"That's it," the Doctor congratulated. "Look at the others," the Doctor said, turning her around by the waist. She looked at Jackie, Jake, Pete and Mickey, the others already back in the Parallel Universe. Jackie was the only one not surrounded by the Void stuff, the other three drenched in it. The Doctor pointed to Jackie. "The only one who hasn't been through the Void - your mother," he said, smirking. "First time she's looked normal in her life."

"Oi!" Jackie chastised, Rose giggling. The Doctor rushed toward the clear white wall, Rose following closely. "The Daleks lived inside the Void. They're bristling with it. Cybermen - all of them. I just open the Void - end of verse. The Void stuff gets sucked back inside," he said giddily, excitedly.

"Pulling them all in!" Rose said enthusiastically, the Doctor repeating her words and nodding.

"Sorry... what's- what's the Void?" Mickey asked.

"The dead space," the Doctor replied. "Some people call it 'Hell'."

Mickey took a button from Pete and looped it around his neck. "So... you're sending the Daleks and Cybermen to Hell?" he asked, the Doctor nodded in confirmation. Mickey smiled then turned to Jake. "Man, I told you he was good."

Rose looked around with the glasses on, then down to her own hands, which were flooded with the Void stuff like the Doctor and Jake were. "But it's... like you said, we've all got Void stuff," she said. "Me too, 'cos we went to that Parallel world." She flexed her fingers, examining the colours around her. She pulled the glasses off and looked at the Doctor's now non-smiling face. She took a few steps toward him. "We're all contaminated. We'll get pulled in," she said worriedly.

"That's why you've gotta go," the Doctor said quietly. "Back to Pete's world," he looked at Pete, a small smile playing on his face. "Hey, we should call it that - 'Pete's World'," he looked back down at Rose, who was giving him an expressionless gaze. "I'm opening the Void, but only on this side. You'll be safe on that side." Rose continued to stare at him, hoping he was able to produce some back door solution to what he'd said.

"And then you close it," Pete piped up. "For good?"

"The breach itself is soaked in Void Stuff, in the end it'll close itself. And that's it. Kaput," he said, moving away from Rose, finding it too difficult. Rose herself was just beginning to understand what he meant. "But you stay on this side?" she asked hesitantly as she watched in carefully.

"But you'll get pulled in," Mickey frowned. The Doctor looked back at Rose, who looked like she'd been slapped around the face. Hard. "That's why," he said, wondering over to the magnaclamps on Yvonne's desk. "I got these. I'll just have to hold on tight - I've been doing it all my life," he ended, dropping the clamp to the ground with a thump.

"I'm supposed to go," Rose said, finally finding her voice.

"Yeah," the Doctor said easily, ignoring her eyes.

"To another world, and then it gets sealed off," she said slowly.

"Yeah," he says again, walking to one of the computers and fiddling with one of the setting. He didn't want to talk about, maybe that would make things easier… maybe.

"Forever," she added painfully, the Doctor wincing as that was the very word she'd used on the planet they went to after they… She'd told him 'forever' then, she was going to spend the rest of her life with him, and now… the Doctor gave no reply, and Rose laughed at the absurdity of the idea. "That's not gonna happen," she smiled at him. There was a loud crash from outside, Pete walking around quickly. "We haven't got time to argue, the plans works, we go in. You too," he pointed to Rose. "All of us." Rose looked at him angrily. He had no right to tell her what to do, and had no right to try and take her away from the Doctor. "No, I'm not leaving him!"

"I'm not going without her," Jackie said stubbornly as Pete whipped around.

"Oh, my God," he muttered to himself. "We're going," he told Jackie.

"I've had twenty years without you, so button it," Jackie snapped at him. "I'm not leaving her." Rose looked at her mother gently and turned her around. "You've got to."

"Well, that's tough!" Jackie yelled, her voice rising even more.

"Mum..." Rose started, her voice trembling slightly with suppressed tears as she tried to speak in a soft tone. "I've had a life with you for nineteen years. But then I met the Doctor and... all the things I've seen him do for me. For you. For all of us. For the whole... stupid planet and every planet out there. He does it alone, mum," she said, her voice breaking a tiny bit. From behind, the Doctor pulled up a yellow button from his pocket which Pete had given him earlier, walking quietly toward Rose as he showed Pete the button, the man nodding in understandment. "But not anymore," Rose continued, backing away from Jackie and toward the Doctor. "'Cos now he's got me."

Rose backed up into the Doctor, who quickly looped the chain of the button around her neck. Before she could ask questions and Pete could press the button that would teleport her to safety and out of his life forever, he grabbed her by the hips and turned her around roughly, fiercely crashing his lips down to hers one final time as a tear cascaded down his cheek and onto hers. Their lips moved in union for a few short seconds, Rose, for once, not knowing what to do with her hands.

Then it was over. The Doctor was pressing his lips to thin air, the others behind her vanishing as well. He gave a small sob, then composed himself quickly, taking a large breath as he gazed at the place Rose had stood with a heavy heart, slowly trailing his way toward the computer.

There was another glow in the middle of the room where the rest of the party had stood, the sucking noise happening again until Rose popped back into reality. "I think this is the on switch," she looked around and smiled weakly at the Doctor, who stared back at her.

He made his way to her quickly, grabbing her by the shoulders, stooping down slightly so he can be directly eye level with her. "Once the breach collapses, that's it," he told her as if trying to talk sense into her. " You will never be able to see her again. Your own mother!"

Rose took a shaky breath, replying calmly, but her voice trembled again. "I made my choice a long time ago, and I'm never gonna leave you," she said tearfully, giving him a smile. The Doctor stared at her for a few measly seconds, stunned that she would still pick him over her own family. One of his hearts rose to his throat as he cradled her hair carefully, pulling her in for another kiss, only more gently this time. When they broke apart, the Doctor mumbled, "Those co-ordinates over there," he pointed to the computers. "Set them all at six." She walked away to do what she was told, the Doctor taking a shaky breath as he scrapped his chin.

Rose looked at the computer screen and frowned, calling, "We've got Cybermen on the way up."

"How many floors down?" he asked, running over to her to take a took at the monitor.

"Just one," Rose replied, a troubled look appearing on her face. The Doctor got to work quicker, setting the coordinates hastily. A few moments later, the Doctor gave a smile when the computer said, "Levers operational."

"That's more like it, bit of a smile!" Rose said, more cheered up by this. "The old team!"

"Hope and Glory, Mutt and Jeff, Shiver and Shake!" the Doctor said, picking up one of the Magnaclamps.

"Which one's Shiver?" Rose asked as he dumped the clamp into her arms.

"Oh, I'm Shake," the Doctor said. He took the other clamp from Yvonne's desk, pressing it to the wall near one of the levers as Rose did the same, but on the other side. "Press the red button," he told her, doing it on his clamp. Looking out the window briefly, he turned back to her, speaking quickly. "When it starts, just hold on tight. Shouldn't be too bad for us but the Daleks and the Cybermen are steeped in Void Stuff. Are you ready?" he asked, taking position by his lever, Rose doing the same.

"So are they," Rose said gesturing the window. The Doctor turned to see three Daleks at the window looking through at them, just about to destroy the window to get at them. "Let's do it!" he exclaimed, pushing the lever up in sync with Rose, the both of them running quickly to their clamps, looking an arm through them and grasping tightly.

"Online," the computer said, the area being filled with a white light once again. However, this time there was a loud noise of strong wind, the Daleks being sucked through the window, smashing through the glass and toward the Void. Rose and the Doctor held onto the clamps tightly, struggling to hold on. "The breach is open!" the Doctor yelled over the wind. "Into the Void! Ha!" He looked over to Rose across the room as they were billowed by the wind. Their smiles faded, however, when a small expolotion of sparks come from the level on Rose's side of the room, which was slowly going down, the computer calling through the wind, "Offline."

"Turn it on!" the Doctor screamed over the wind urgently as the wind began to cease, the Daleks coming in much slowly now. Rose reached for the lever whilst trying to maintain her grip on the clamp, but it was just out of her reach by a finger nail. She strained to reach it, eventually falling from the clamp onto the lever. The Doctor watched in panic as she thumped into the descending rod. One wrong, move, and she'll be gone forever, he thought as he watched her carefully. He winced as she whimpered, struggling to get the lever up again. "I've gotta get it upright!" she yelled. Pushing harder, she groaned with effort as she finally got the lever up again, the Doctor watching, terrified.

"Online and locked," the computer said, the full force of the void coming full force, lifting Rose off her feet, nothing to hold onto but the lever. "Rose, hold on!" the Doctor called, his voice cracking. She cried out with effort, the Doctor shouting even more. "HOLD ON!" he screamed at her as he watched. Rose let out a moan, her strength mostly left her. The Doctor stared at her in terror helplessly as he reached out to her in vain.

With one last cry, Rose's grip on the lever slipped, her body being sucked toward the breach as the Doctor screamed her name as she flew further and further away from him. Just as she was about to hit the breach, Pete appeared in a flash, watching the young blonde in his arms. Rose looked back at the Doctor over her shoulder, himself looking back her in desperation. Pete slammed the button in his hands, the both of them disappearing. The Doctor stared at the place she'd been caught, his voice hoarse as his throat contracted, breathing heavily.

Slowly, the breach began to close, the white light no longer filling the room as it had, the wind dying down until it was not even a draft. The Doctor stood by his clamp for a long while, registering what had just happened. Rose… she couldn't be gone, could she? He stared at the spot she'd disappeared, willing her to come back into his sight, desperately as he let go of the clamp.

He walked toward the wall, faltering slightly when he saw the white walls being illuminated by a blue flash, the sound of heavy breathing taking the place of utter silence. There was a brief pause, the sound of Eliza's voice coming to his ears. "She went through?" she croaked. The Doctor didn't want to talk, couldn't talk his as his throat was that tight. Instead, he threw a picture of what had happened as he slowly walked toward the wall, staring at it. He heard a sigh of relief pass Eliza lips, but he was too bust to notice anything else at that point. He didn't want to notice anything else. He hesitantly touched the wall, his finger slowly tracing up and down the cool, smooth surface. He placed his palm flat against it, resting his head and body there, hoping to feel something of her.

And surprisingly, he did. He felt her body there, her hand flat against his. The Doctor closed his eyes, allowing himself to pretend that she was still there, that she was right in front of him, not a whole Universe away. He melted into her body, saving the presence and gathering up in the warmth, taking a moment to realise it was the warmth coming from him, not her or the wall. A single tear ran down his cheek as he finally took a swallow to shove the heart back down his throat, taking his hand away and slowly walking from the wall, his hands in his pockets. He walks away expressionlessly, looking around for the brunette, who was no longer there.

Where had she been a few moments earlier? She'd promised nothing would happen to Rose, she promised... the Doctor thought as he slowly made his way through the building, his TARDIS coming into view a few minutes after walking. He recalled a conversation he'd had with Eliza, remembering that's not what she'd said at all.

"She doesn't die, Gramps, at all. She lives," she told him sincerely.

That's what she'd said. And it was true, Rose was alive. Trapped in another Universe, but alive. Which meant Eliza knew this was going to happen. She knew Rose would be sucked away from him, and yet she did nothing about it, he continued thinking as he slipped the TARDIS key into the port, the TARDIS humming curiously in his mind. Eliza had let them fall in love, encouraged it even, and she knew that his Rose would be taken away from him. She KNEW! She saw the pain he was soon to be in, and encouraged them together. She wanted this to happen, wanted him to be in pain. He quickly discarded her as he made his way through the hallways of his ship, stopping outside one of his favourite doors.

The Doctor let go of a tear when he reached it, the small drawing of a beautiful rose carved on the door, but it didn't live up to the beauty of whom was named after it. His fingers traced the carving carefully, outlining every curve of the flower as more tears joined his chin and cheeks. He opened the room slowly, peeking into the large cave that seemed empty without her there. The floors looked less pink without her there to lighten them with ever step, and the walls looked a dull yellow without her hair to show them up. He looked around the room to her desk, seeing a picture of her and him, his arms around her tightly as he kissed her forehead, not remembering or caring who took the photo. The Doctor grabbed it roughly, backing away with it securely in his arms.

He remembered the day the photo was taken. If the memory was still fresh in his mind, it could bring her back, he thought desperately. He shook his head violently when he couldn't hear the sweet sound of her laugh or the feel of her lips on his, or the feel of the bed sheets grasped in his fists as he made love to her slowly, passionately, lovingly, savouring every moment like it was his last.

His legs stopped working as he noticed where he was headed. He turned slowly to see her bed, the very same they had spent hours cuddling in; the very same bed he'd pleasured her in just two days before.

He crawled up on the bed, diving into the covers, her covers that had her scent. He crawled up into a tight ball, the already messy covers giving him some source of protection from this nightmare.

He stayed in that position for a long while, inhaling the smell of her shampoo sharply as he covered himself tightly with her duvet, the silky smoothness of it bringing back too many harsh memories. Tears continued to sprawl down his cheeks as he clutched at the photo. There was a long silence, his imagination running wild with his he closed his eyes tightly. He let out a small sob, a pair of soft, gentle hands coming to his cheeks, wiping away the wet substance from his face. He didn't dare open his eyes. He knew this was just an illusion. He was tired, and his mind was drifting in and out of consciousness. This couldn't be real, but he didn't want it to stop.

He leaned into the illusions touch, letting out another sob. "Hey…" she cooed softly into his ear, sending a shiver up his spine. "It's okay, Doctor," she continued comforting him, her body placing itself behind his tightly as she stroked his hair slowly. This was an illusion, he told himself over and over, but the real vividness and solid feel of her hand in his hair made his think otherwise as he said her name over and over again.

The pressure behind his back faded, the warmness spreading to his front and he could tell from experience that his face was near her chest and neck, her succulent, smooth, bare breasts just under his chin. He'd broken. He lifted a hand to her waist as she intertwined her legs with his, doing the same with his free hand. She placed loving kisses along his forehead, jaw line, and eventually, his lips, the Doctor giving out a cry when she reached him. He smoothly ran his hand down her hips, passing her thigh as his fingers explored her legs. Her smooth, milky legs…

She fisted his hair in her hands the way she always did when they were like this, giving a small, sexy moan, causing the Doctor to emit his own groans as he kissed her neck and shoulder blade, pressing his teeth down gently to make sure she was still there. "Doctor!" she moaned.

Then, oh but then, it was all over. The silkiness of her skin left his lips and hands immediately after she called his name, the warmth of her breath leaving, as well as the hand in his hair. It was all gone. Just an illusion, he reminded himself, giving out a loud sob as his back jerked. He clutched the pillows and covers to him tighter, the photo still safe in his chest as he cried loudly as he called out his lost lovers name in despair.

A.N: :( sorry for all those who wanted me to save Rose, but I didn't really have a choice. I'd appreciate if you guys told me what you thought at least :P The last chapter will be up tomorrow...
