Katniss sat down in a chair on the far side of the room. The other Gamemakers made her feel uncomfortable and definitely out of place. Plutarch Heavensby quickly moved to sit near her. "It's ok. They are not as bad as you think. Once they get to know you, they will all forget about that little stunt you pulled a few years ago. Actually come to think of it," He said as he looked around. "Most of the people here were not there that night. Last year there was almost a complete restructuring of the people on the council. You will find you are not the only new one." He looked at his strange pocket watch and stood. He directed his attention to the other ten people in the room. "As you all know, today is the first day of planning for the Seventy-sixth Hunger games. Faustus, I believe you have the information on the arena itself.

A skinny man with bright blue hair stood and tapped the table with his finger. Immediately a hologram of a forest took up the entire table.

"It is an island ten square miles in area. The location is in the middle of the Pacific, so it will have a natural tropical feeling from much of the other districts. The are some jagged cliffs on the south and west parts of the island. The current around the island is very strong, so them swimming to safety is out of the question. However the force field that the President requested this time has already been put in place, just in case it is need. There is former town here, he pointed to an area in the middle of the island. There a few old buildings that have been abandoned on the island for hundreds of years. They are mostly concrete and metal. Most are crumbling, and not very secure. A former school, hospital, and a few stores still remain. There are some scattered buildings that remain in this area, he pointed to an area in the northern part of the island, mostly old homes. The southern part of the island is more mountainous. There is a volcano here. It does not appear to be dormant at this time, of course that can always be remedied. "

"Katniss, I think you are well equipped to assist with the placement of plants and animals in the arena. Would you like to take up that task?" Plutarch asked with a smile.

"That sounds,"Katniss caught herself before she continued, "fun." She did not want to step on toes already in the Capital.

"We hear that you have some of the most amazing first-hand knowledge of the plant life that grows around your district," a middle age lady with purple hair said with a grin.

"I was very familiar with what grew around me."

"Great. You can take care of that for us.

He went back to talking to the others. Katniss tried to pay attention but it all seemed so different to her. Here they were planning the deaths of the tributes. She knew that this side of games existed, but never did she think that she would be part of it.

Katniss just tried to keep her emotions from showing on her face. As much as she did not want to be there, she had to remind herself that she is doing this once again to save her friends and family.

"Katniss?" Plutarch said. Katniss looks around. Most of the other Gamemakers have left the room. Only a handful remains, and most of them were not paying her any attention.

She looked up to where Plutarch was talking. "I asked if you were told yet that you and your husband would be giving commentary on the games this year."

"President Snow had mentioned something about it, but I was not given any details."

"You are going to go to the training academies and interview each of the tributes separately. Then during the games you will use that knowledge to talk to the people of the district."

"But I thought that training was supposed to be secret."

"And it is! You are a former victor. You have certain advantages that those of us here in the Capital do not. You can go to training. Other mentors are responsible for making sure that their tributes win. As long as you do not mention to others what to expect… you will be fine."

Katniss was uneasy about it all. She only agreed to be part of these games because of her loyalty to her family. Now she would be responsible for having to speak to each and every one of the tributes. She would pick the animals and plants that were in the arena with the tributes. She would be responsible for their deaths. Not the way she was with Glimmer, Cato, and Marvel, but still she would have a hand in the death of even more tributes. "

Plutarch pushed a book in front of her. "This is a book on jungle flora and fauna. Read over it. Next month the arena will be completely built. You will the work with some of our computer programmers to work out where the animals will be put, and which plants go where."

President Snow met her outside of the conference room. "Trust you are still upholding your end of the bargain, Mrs. Mellark."

"I know what is expected. Speaking of which, what is going to happen to the tributes from my district. Will Haymitch have to mentor them on his own again?"

"Of course we cannot have you mentoring the tributes when you will have such intimate knowledge of the arena. I have already called all of the former victors together to assist with nominating two new mentors for your District.

"The reapings will take place in a few months. You will be working with some experts here in the Capital to be prepared for your interviews. Next week you will go to the island with me and a few of the other Game Makers. You will need to understand where the tributes will be fighting for your interviews.
