Katniss was sitting on the porch watching the sunrise in District 12, when she watched the Peacekeepers march into the Victor's Village. They did not look in her direction, instead they began to move inspect two of the empty houses closest to hers and Peeta's house. A car arrived, driving slowly until it stopped just in front of her house. Two Peacekeepers got out of the front seat and opened the doors to the backseat on both sides. Slowly two figures emerged from either side of the car.

It took Katniss a few moments to realize that Lyme and Gloss were standing just feet from her.

"What?" was all that Katniss could say before she was pulled into a hug from Gloss.

"President Snow asked for people to volunteer to replace you as a mentor to the tributes of District 12. I think he was not expecting any volunteers, and then the two of us went and surprised him. He was only going to take one of us, but his wife insisted that Haymitch keep you under control while you are in the Capitol. So here we are."

"Now where is that lovely mother of yours?" Lyme asked.

"Gone."

"She was one of the ones selected to move?" Gloss asked in a whisper.

"Part of the deal for me to become a Gamemaker. They will be safe. None of the families that were in the lottery would be selected for the games this year."

"But that was part of the plan all along. They have not established enough roots in their new districts yet for anyone there to care if they survive or not."

"I know! But when President Snow comes to District 12 to offer you a deal, so soon after a major rebellion, I am told that you do not object."

"Yeah, I can see that point!" Gloss said still clearly concerned.

"So what have you been doing in this house all alone?"

"Well Peeta is here most of the time, well when he is not helping his parents. Haymitch comes over as much as he can. I think that he is just as lonely as I am most of the time.

"Well we are here now to keep you entertained," Lyme said with a comforting smile.

"Garnett and Jasper send their love, by the way. They wanted to come visit, but could not get the travel visas to do so. Jasper was selected by the Capitol to mentor this year."

"He must be terrified!"

"He is, but my family will make sure that he is emotionally ready for it. After all he is dating a Herron, if he can handle our drama, he can handle anything."

"How is his dad handling that?"

"That there is another victor in the family? Or the fact that he is dating a Herron?"

"You know what I mean!

"I think that fact that he is a victor is all that his father cares about. He loves his son, and is happy that he is home safe. There are still some issues that need to be worked out, but that is in every family."

"I'm afraid that the two of you will be here with Haymitch for a bit by yourselves. I am supposed to report back the Capitol tomorrow to assist with the Reapings."

"Assist?" Lyme asked.

"On the spot evaluations, if I am not mistaken."

"He is getting more and more creative," Gloss said. He did not have to explain who he is was discussing.

Katniss walked into the television studio. For months she had been preparing for this day. She had been through countless prep session. Effie, Cinna, and countless other had tried to prepare her for the moment that the cameras turned back on her.

"Welcome to the Reaping!" Caesar Flickermann said extending her a hand. He would be her partner today for the broadcast.

"Thanks."

"Are you enjoying yourself?"

"I am!"

"You are looking very good! And it looks like you have been enjoying the tropical beach over at the arena!"

Katniss just smiled. In the past few months, she had made seven trips to the island. She called herself helping. She had personally made many trails in the jungle to help the tributes find what they needed. She had personally made sure that the abandoned hospital had bandages, and some other small items that would help if someone needed them. Some of the houses now had items that could be used as weapons. A few of the kitchens were now stocked with knives and meat cleavers. Small storage buildings were stocked with shovels, and axes. She knew that the Capitol would not object to more weapons in the arena.

"I find it peaceful there. Makes it easy to think!"

"I bet!" Caesar said with a grin.

Peeta slowly made his way to the desk beside Katniss. She pulled him into a hug. For the past few months she had only been allowed to see him a handful of times. Most of the time, they barely had a moment alone. Now they were surrounded by a television crew. He pulled her hand into his.

"Five seconds to show time." One of the guys behind the cameras yelled.

"Five, four, three, two, one!" He pointed to Caesar!

"Hello and Welcome to Seventy –Sixth Hunger Games. Well let me tell you, we have an amazing Hunger Games planned for you this year! Now in case you have not been watching the countdown to today's reaping, I have some news for you! This year we are lucky to have one of our very own Hunger Games victors as the Head Gamemakers. Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a very heartfelt welcome to our very own Katniss Everdeen!"

"Thank you so much" Katniss beamed. "Thank you so much for having me, it is truly a pleasure!"

"So Katniss, how are you adjusting from being a mentor to a Gamemaker?"

"It was easier than I thought! Once you get into the planning, things just happen!"

"So what can we expect from these games?"

"Well we have found the perfect location! The natural beauty of this place is so amazing!"

"You seem more enamored with this arena than your own husband," Caesar joked.

"Almost!" Katniss blushed and then kissed her husband on the cheek.

"So Peeta, what have you been up to lately?"

Katniss stopped paying attention. She knew that Peeta could cover for himself. She was a little surprised at her own character. Talking to Caesar was never her favorite thing to do. Yet now she appeared capable of holding her own.

"Well let's take a little break. When we return we will have live footage of the Reaping in District One!"
