Chapter 8
Jake POV
Listening to Drake's soft breaths, I sighed contentedly as I basked in the morning sun that was flooding in through the unshielded window. I gently rolled to face my silver haired angel as he was stirring and my heart swelled with joy at the thought that this gorgeous man was all mine. I leant over and kissed his forehead, "Good morning Draco."
"Morning Jake," he breathed.
"Last night was amazing," I said, as my breath caught in my throat. Draco chuckled, "Well worth the wait wasn't it?"
"Not waiting would have been better," I said with a grin. I flung off the covers and couldn't help but to be awestruck by how perfect Draco looked in the glow of the dawn. Pulling my gaze from the wonder next to me, I stood, stretched and brushed my hair away from my eyes. I really must get that cut I think.
"Thank you for not pushing me last night Jake," whispered Draco.
"I would never push you for anything Drake. I hope you know that."
"I know," he replied, "but by letting me be in control really helped. If it had of been the other way around right now, I would have freaked out I think."
My stomach growled. "Anything for you my Draco, but right now my belly is demanding food. What would my gorgeous man like for breakfast?"
"Pancakes might be nice."
"Ok, pancakes it is then."
I headed for the shower as Draco got out of bed and made his way to the kitchen. Hearing a yell I turned off the water and ran out to find out what was wrong. "Draco?" I called out. My heart sunk when I saw him collapsed on the floor lying in a mess of silver hair gasping for breath. I fell to his side and pulled him close. "Drake, what's wrong?" My imprint's eyes opened and I knew that whatever it was, it wasn't good. He raised his hand and a little silver card fluttered to the floor. I grabbed it and had a closer look. It was silver, had beautiful raised embossing and in a graceful flowing script was written one solitary letter. The letter M. I knew in that instant why Draco had panicked. Lucius was here.
I flew to the phone and got a hold of Carlisle and told him to get here as fast as possible. I dashed back to Draco, scooped him up and gingerly laid him on the couch. Pacing nervously, it seemed like forever before Carlisle arrived.
"Carlisle, thank god you're here."
"What's happened Jake," he asked concerned.
"Draco's father is here. Someone must have tipped him off about Alice and Jasper's London holiday."
"Woah, slow down Jake, how do you know he's here?"
"He left this." I pulled the card out of my pocket and handed it to the doctor.
"How do you even know who left this?"
"I don't know, but my gut is saying that card belongs to Lucius."
"I fear you might be right Jake."
Carlisle started examining Draco as I continued to pace frantically. "Well I can't see anything physically wrong with him Jake, but if your hunch is correct then I think it's safe to say that Draco is in shock and emotionally unresponsive. I see it quite often with abuse patients; they shut down when they feel threatened. We need to show Draco that he is safe and that Lucius can't take him away."
A small voice drifted across the room, "It won't matter, he knows I'm here and he won't stop until he gets me back in London."
I leapt over to the fragile figure and threw my arms around him. "I'm not going to let that happen Drake."
"No we won't," said Carlisle softly. "You are more than happy to have you up at our house to make you feel safe if that is what it will take."
"It won't change anything Carlisle. It's just a matter of time."
Tears began to trickle down his cheeks as he shook his head. "I'll never escape him."
"You have me now, I'm not going to let you out of my sight for a second. You are perfectly safe."
"Jake," he yelled, "You just don't get it do you?" He got up and stormed out of the house, letting the screen slam behind him. I looked at Carlisle who was clearly just as frightened for Draco as I was. I ran outside, "DRACO! DRACO? WHERE ARE YOU?" I screamed into the dense forest. Normally I loved the forest, today I couldn't hate the suffocating greenness more. I could sense Draco's panic to my very core but in my panic I couldn't sense which way he went. The noise of a gun crack shattered the stifling silence and I could feel in my very being that Draco was gone.
