Hey all! I have eventually finished 14 and I warn you it is a long one, please don't get bored :S I promise it is worth it. So here Ellenya gets to Imladris and is intent on making her presence known. I hope you enjoy the extra characters and maybe even find some comedy in it, it is a lighter chapter but not for long.
As always I am so appreciative of the support, the reviews and the following. Writing has been such a lifeline for me and honestly to hear you guys like it or even read it is kinda cool, so thanks and I hope you continue to find elements you enjoy in my stories.
Shout outs to the awesome reviewers; Celticank, Win Lockwood, Aranel Mereneth, Dreamingin2Eternity..and the unsigned fan review...I cannot reply to you personally so I will just answer the Thranduil question here, because I loved that you picked that up :)
I would say he accepts his daughter loves Elladan and that is about it, there is no reason for Thranduil to dislike him bar the obvious, but I reckon the Elven King is good at playing that down. The embrace between them was more a warrior to warrior exchange, I read this amazing article about the character of Thranduil and how traumatized he was from the events of the Last Alliance, so it got me thinking how terrible it must be for him to see a youngster like Elladan about to face the same horror? So I thought mixed with his gradual acceptance of Elladan and his genuinely horrific memories he probably had a minor attack of feelings...but I will highlight that in a later chapter :)
Soooo please enjoy and I look forward to your thoughts, all views welcome :)
14. Impressions
A black as night stallion stood out on the sparse horizon as it rested on a rocky formation, its elven rider scanning the environment for anomalies. Elladan keenly observed the vast expanse of land, since leaving Thranduil's realm they had not encountered too many obstacles, but that did not make the ellon any less uneasy. Though he was close to home, dangers were still lurking in the shadows and he erred on the side of caution especially with Ellenya in tow. He frowned momentarily at the thought and realised he had not seen his wife in quite some time and he suddenly stressed.
Though the journey had not been particularly perilous, the communication channels between him and Ellenya had suffered. After Ellenya's defiant decision to leave her home Elladan had attempted to interrogate her on her intentions, after all he did not see how a discussion with his Adar was going to put her at ease, nor provide her with full answers to her questions. The interrogation did not go well and quickly dissolved into arguments, Ellenya now feeling suffocated had shut him out and responded only if spoken too. Elladan resolved she was harbouring secrets, he knew very little about these 'dreams,' other than they troubled Ellenya; she did not sleep much and was restless when she did. Thranduil obviously deemed them important enough to allow his daughter to go gallivanting off into the world, something the Elven King was not renowned for letting happen. Elladan's frustrations lay with the fact that Ellenya did not deem him important enough to confide in, and this was crux of most of their arguments.
"Ellenya sensed something pursuing us, she is riding a course west to investigate," Elrohir called to his brother, as he trotted his mount into view.
Elladan's sharp eyes landed on his twin accusingly; "You let her go alone?"
"I do not actually remember her asking my permission, she just sort of cantered off, as she does with that determined look in her eyes," Elrohir defended and did his best impression of his newly acquired little sister.
"Elrohir!" Elladan growled in frustration, he had left his twin and Ellenya with strict instructions to stay together.
"You know you were much less tense before marriage brother," Elrohir commented dryly, "besides she is fine, we are practically home."
"I am not taking the risk," Elladan snapped and urged his horse forward, "You do not have to face the wrath of Thranduil if something does happens."
Elrohir laughed loudly and followed after his brother; "Rather you than I Elladan!"
xXx
Ellenya sat atop Belan scowling at the landscape, she was almost certain she heard the pursuit of another on horseback. She absently considered that she could have made up the noise in her mind to put some distance between hers and Elladan. Regrettably she loved him and so could not remain angry at him; however she did feel like he was trying to tie her down, something he had never done before. She was starting to dislike this new power struggle in their relationship; so now that she was his wife her every thought and decision had to be shared with him? Ellenya despised being answerable to anyone but herself, this did not help tensions and even though she knew Elladan's behaviour was only natural, she preferred it if he was not so sensitive!
Hopping down from Belan she strode to the little brook and knelt down to splash her face with the cold water, hoping the icy shock would wake up her senses. Though as she did a whoosh of air and the whistle of an arrow shot over her head and struck the ground at Belan's hooves. The stallion spooked and reared, Ellenya quickly reacted to try and calm her beloved animal but it was too late the horse broke into a run, leaving the elleth stranded.
Cursing her misfortune Ellenya spun and unsheathed her sword and awaited the confrontation with her pursuer, mildly relieved it had not been a figment of her imagination. It did not take long until the armed attacker made their presence known, the figure appeared from behind some sparse shrubbery and charged the Princess. Ellenya, enraged that she had lost her horse over this idiot, did not shy from the attack and raced to meet the attacker head on.
Naturally the attacker swung and missed, as Ellenya dove underneath him and brought the hilt of her sword across the back of his shoulders. The blow caused the pursuer to fall to their knees and Ellenya wasted no time restraining him and holding her blade to his throat;
"That is no way to greet a lady!" She hissed, as the attacker, another elf, struggled with her grip.
"It is not often I see a lady dressed like a hunter and wielding a blade, what business have you here?" the ellon spat.
"I do not have to answer to you," Ellenya snarled shoving the elf's head towards the ground and stepped over him grabbing his bow and blade and throwing them a few feet in the opposite direction; "You scared my horse off! I really do not feel the need or the inclination to show you any mercy!"
"Kill me if you wish, but you will have to answer to the Lord of this land and he does not take kindly to kinslayers!" The ellon spat.
"Kinslayers? How dare you call me that! Who do you think you are?" Ellenya felt her blood boil at the very insinuation of the name being in any shape or form connected to her or her family, "I am Sinda nobility; I do not kill for sport."
"You do not look like a noble elleth to me," the attacking ellon chuckled darkly.
"Oh I really do not like you," Ellenya hissed menacingly as she regarded the dark blonde ellon beneath her, who brazenly returned the glare.
The sound of hoof beats caught her attention and Ellenya glanced over her shoulder to see another strange ellon approach on horse and she felt her irritation flare. The elf in her sights smirked at the arrival of his commander, which only enraged the Princess further. The approaching elf slowed his grey horse and observed the sight, he did not draw a weapon and he simply smiled curiously at Ellenya. Though she would not betray herself, the stranger unnerved her and she scowled at him showing little respect to the obviously high ranking official.
"I am not inclined to attack a lady," the musical voice of the incredibly handsome ellon piqued Ellenya's curiosity, it was like she knew him, but she did not show this and continued to treat his presence with the same indifference.
"And who pray tell are you?" She snapped.
"A friend," was his only reply and the Princess arched an eyebrow in response. The golden haired and admittedly charming elf grinned at Ellenya's obvious impatience and turned his gaze to the peeved looking ellon in her custody; "My Lady would you be so kind as to free my young squire, I would converse more easily with you if I did not feel his life was in danger."
Ellenya haughtily rose her chin in defiance; "He attacked me, scared off my horse and insulted me; what makes you think I would trust you not to do the same! Besides I have no memory of you, friend?"
"You may not recognise me my dear, but I know who you are," The golden haired elf chuckled softly, unconcerned with the sword she brandished. He dismounted his animal and came to stand toe to toe with Ellenya and to his amusement she did not even flinch.
"Hmmm," he mused, continuing to smile knowingly, "There is no mistaking it; that proud stance, your remarkable hospitality and those eyes! Why am I not in the presence of Thranduil's daughter?"
"If you were, then she would know how she knew such a stranger?" Ellenya countered, feeling less sure of herself and more than a little captivated by the elf in her presence.
"I am no stranger, but it has been a very long time Ellenya, your memory would indeed be long if you recalled our first meeting." He responded with a gentle look that put her at ease at once. "I apologise for my friend, in his defence he would not know to whom he offered insult, but he is under my care and I am responsible for him. I will see he is reprimanded."
Ellenya felt her guard fall slightly and she nodded to the high elf, and turned to the other whom she still had her blade pointed at and smiled sweetly, before standing down and pushing back his weapons with the toe of her boot. The lower elf looked quite stunned, he had obviously expected his master to deal more harshly with his captor but nevertheless he bowed and retrieved his items. As this exchange took place the sound of more approaching hooves had all three turning to look.
Elrohir and Elladan both raced into view, the furious look on Elladan's face enough to make the lesser elf at Ellenya's side pale slightly, realization setting in;
"Young Lords! You have returned sooner than I was expecting, your Adar will be relieved," The handsome golden haired one welcomed the twins warmly.
"My Lord Glorfindel," Elrohir bowed his head in acknowledgement and glanced to Ellenya who's turn it was to pale slightly. "Thank you for retrieving my little sister, she has a habit of getting into terrible mischief."
"Yes," Elladan agreed and dismounted quickly, "Thank you, Ellenya must have got separated from us." He glared angrily at Ellenya who ignored his silent warnings; the strain in their relationship obvious. The outcome of their relentless bickering had been to cease speaking with each other so as to make the journey more bearable, for both Elrohir and their poor beasts. It did not appear that this vow was going to be broken anytime soon.
"So it is true," Glorfindel's bright eyes landed with intense curiosity on Ellenya, his smile growing wider; "Oh what a great shame, so young and beautiful to be married," the legendary elf lord took Ellenya's hand in his and placed a gentle kiss there. The gesture had Ellenya blushing from head to toe, she was incredibly flattered and Glorfindel's charisma had her swooning ever so slightly.
"You flatter me My Lord," Ellenya replied coyly, "I am very sorry if I insulted you, I did not know to whom I spoke."
"No need for apologies My Lady, you were no more than an infant when last we met! Also I am well accustomed to your family's hospitality, I do recall your brother not being so enamoured by me either at our first introductions." Glorfindel chuckled and turned to nod approvingly to Elrond's eldest.
"What a fine match young one, you have brought a great blessing to Imladris! Though I admit I am quite jealous," Glorfindel commented before turning to his servant; "Cendir will you please see that Lady Ellenya's horse is retrieved and returned to the stables, I am sure that will be enough to settle any grievances that you may have caused."
The lower elf worked hard to keep the anger from his face and bowed curtly muttering apologises to the Princess, before stalking off. Ellenya eyed the elf with mild distaste; she was not accustomed to such disrespect. Nevertheless she gave Glorfindel an appreciative smile and kept her head held high.
"Now Princess I shall not have you walking on foot the rest of way, come you will ride with me," Glorfindel took her hand and guided her into the seat of his horse, Ellenya was practically purring at the attention she was receiving. Nothing stroked her ego more than being made to feel incredibly important and privileged. This did not go unnoticed by Elladan who worked hard to conceal his irritation.
"Do I detect jealousy?" Elrohir whispered, as Glorfindel and Ellenya conversed with ease, his brother's wife showing more enthusiasm with the handsome elf lord than she had with her husband in several days.
The question was met with stony silence as Elladan mounted his horse and followed after them. Yes it was true, Elladan was suffering a slight case of envy, and he wanted to be the one that introduced Ellenya to his home not Lord Glorfindel. It felt like the elf lord was taking his place and doing a better a job of it, Elladan cursed himself for arguing with Ellenya, though at the time he felt it necessary he had now inadvertently caused himself more grief. He knew his wife well; there would be a part of her that would enjoy making him suffer.
The short journey to Imladris was filled with Glorfindel's educating and enlightening discussions on its history and Ellenya's delighted laughter. Elladan remained sullen, whilst Elrohir attempted to keep the peace and divert attentions away from his sulking twin. However the mood soon left him when they were safely within the confines of his home and Glorfindel had released Ellenya to him.
"It has been a pleasure meeting you Lady Ellenya, I look forward to seeing more of you!" The golden haired elf said as he gave Ellenya another kiss on the hand, "Perhaps tonight, I am sure Lord Elrond will have some sort of welcoming feast for his children's return?"
"Then I shall look forward to it," Ellenya beamed.
"Good, you will save me a dance?" The elf lord asked pleasantly.
"It would be my honour my lord," she replied and bowed her head in farewell as Glorfindel left them in the picturesque courtyard of Rivendell.
"You can stop smiling Ellenya," Elladan bit and scowled at his wife, who was obviously enamoured with the elven noble.
Ellenya turned and smirked and went to link arms with her husband; "He is famous, excuse me if I am a little starstruck!"
"You are excused and you are not in Mirkwood anymore," Elladan countered and pulled his arm away from her, instead offering his hand in the correct court etiquette for entering a room as a couple. Ellenya merely blinked and shrugged, assuming an air of indifference to the rebuff and lay her hand on his.
"Alright I am staging an intervention," Elrohir interrupted the look of annoyance evident in his features. "Beyond those doors Adar and a handful of dignitaries are waiting to receive us, as far as their concerned you two are meant to be madly and uncontrollably in love with each other! So can you at least attempt to act like you are the happiest elven couple to have ever existed, after all you defied tradition to have this marriage!"
Elladan and Ellenya stood with their mouths slightly agape, Elrohir was never one to lecture nor did he ever get so irate about anything, but presently he was doing both. Elladan felt guilty almost instantaneously and gave Ellenya an apologetic; she automatically softened and managed a small smile in return.
"Good! Are we clear on the objective here?" Elrohir demanded.
"Crystal," Elladan replied and saluted his brother, this elicited a genuine chuckle from Ellenya, not like the polite laughter she had exchanged with Glorfindel, this sound giving Elladan a much needed confidence boost.
With Elrohir satisfied the three approached the entrance to the grand reception hall, and Ellenya felt her heart race. She had not put much thought into this first meeting with her new Father in law, and was abruptly concerned that worn travelling garments were maybe not up to par with the undoubtedly extravagant gowns worn by the high elves that dwelt here. She heard beautiful courtly music echo from the room just beyond them and concentrated on its peaceful sound, taking a settling breath as the doors were swung open and the small conversing crowd stopped to acknowledge their returning lords.
Many eyes landed on the extra addition and Ellenya felt that familiar thrill of worry tear at her mind, she could almost feel the weighted judgment in their stares. So she did as her Adar had taught her from a young age, to stand tall and act like the most important creature in the room even if it did not feel like she was. This had the desired effect as many of curious onlookers seemed to divert their gazes in respect, however she still felt out of her depth and felt herself begin to flounder. She was suddenly engulfed in a wave of pride and confidence, the feelings a projection of Elladan's spirit as it weaved with hers, this gesture her saving grace and Ellenya felt her head lift higher in response.
Lord Elrond was standing in a very much relaxed posture, a knowing smile playing on his lips as he regarded his two sons and newly aqccuired daughter. He quickly closed the gap between himself and Elrohir who was the first to greet him, they embraced warmly and Ellenya felt a pang of homesickness as she observed the loving exchanges between a parent and his child.
Elrond turned his attention to his firstborn and clasped his hand on his back, he eyed both Elladan and Ellenya with a questioning look, but the smile continued to play at the corner of his mouth and his grey eyes were bright with curiosity. Everything about Lord Elrond's presence was comforting and he had a natural gentleness about his spirit that drew Ellenya in and made her feel at home. He was taller than she remembered and his eyes appeared older, there was more sorrow in his countenance which saddened the elleth.
"Adar," Elladan began and Ellenya could not help the quick glance she gave him out the corner of her eye. His tone was authoritative, he spoke not for Elrond's benefit but for the clarification of the rest of the room, Ellenya was not accustomed to this voice and it thrilled her. "It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you my wife Ellenya, Princess of the Woodland Realm and now Lady of Imladris."
Elladan dropped Ellenya's hand and bowed, stepping back and allowing his wife to make her introductions. Ellenya curtsied deeply, a faint blush colouring her cheeks as she heard the mixed exclamations from the small crowd; "It is a great honour and privilege to finally be welcomed into your home my lord Elrond," she answered as softly and demurely as she could.
"It is a privilege for my house to be blessed with such a renowned elleth," Elrond quickly eased Ellenya out of her curtsey and gave her the most dazzling and genuine smile she had witnessed; "This is your home as much as it is mine, and to you I am only Elrond. Welcome daughter, I am overjoyed to see you again."
Ellenya smiled instantly in return, her worries quickly leaving her as Elladan came to stand at her side once more, ignoring court etiquette and wrapping his arm securely around her waist drawing her close. This was met by a few raised eyebrows and Ellenya felt a giggle bubble in her throat but she managed to hold it in place, at last Elladan was remembering there shared love of causing a scene.
"Elladan, son, just so you understand, any further life changing decisions that affect the entire family and two kingdom's are better received when some warning is given," Elrond said slyly to his son, "You are just incredibly fortunate that this little stunt did not come as surprise to me nor your Grandmother. Though I cannot begin to imagine his majesty's reaction?"
The question directed to Ellenya made her chuckle and she shook her head, "Adar was initially unsure but he is well accustomed to his daughters actions. I make my own decisions!"
"Indeed!" Elrond laughed loudly, "he should be well accustomed since I have heard him say that very statement many a time. Still I should have liked to have been a fly on the wall at such a revelation."
"Yes Ada you would have!" Elrohir joked, "Your honourable son outed himself by getting caught red handed in a less than proper embrace with Ellenya by the King himself. It was actually quite a funny tale, particularly from Thranduil's point of view."
The sharp intake of breath from several of the elves in attendance and the sudden eruptions of whispers and giggles made both Ellenya and Elladan glow crimson. Elladan shooting daggers at his oblivious brother, while Ellenya buried her face in his arm. Elrond turned to give his son an exasperated look;
"Tasteful child! Think Elrohir, think before you speak!" He scolded and rolled his eyes, the youngest of his twin son's had the terrible habit of not realising the devastating effect his humorous commentaries had when spoken aloud in the wrong company. Elrohir quickly dished out apologetic glances and began swearing it was just a joke to the astounded audience.
"Brothers!"
The sudden delighted cry of an elleth distracted the room from the current situation and all turned to see the Lady Arwen practically skip into view. When Elladan had spied his younger sister he untangled himself from Ellenya and raced to catch her in a warm embrace, Elrohir followed and joined in the family reunion. Ellenya slinked back from the scene, taking advantage of the few moments of distraction to gather her wits and evaluate her surroundings.
Elrond seemed pleased with her or at least he was not surprised, she felt safe with the dark haired elf she always had. His presence was soothing to her, he helped restore her tattered mind at time when it seemed almost impossible to do so. Though she could tell by the sideways glances she was receiving from him that he knew this was not a social visit, but then again he probably already guessed her reasoning for following Elladan here.
The people of this place were still unconvinced and still not enamoured by her presence; but why should they be, to them she was from an untamed culture, more simplistic and less concerned with the history of arts or academical things. An elleth dressed in hunting garb wielding all sorts of weaponry; yes she did stick out like a sore thumb here, at least in Lorien an element of her homeland still existed. Ellenya quickly vowed that she would win these elves over with her charm and if she did not then she would at least give them something to dislike her for.
The happy embrace of siblings was finally coming to an end, and Ellenya noted how both Elladan and Elrohir held protective stances over their sister. She reckoned that as a unit these three were invincible and she suddenly felt a longing for her own brother, yearning for that sibling solidarity that was so often required in her own family. The Princess also noted how Arwen, a considered friend of hers, did not appear herself and remained guarded only just about managing to give Ellenya an acknowledging smile. Admittedly Ellenya never really kept up any kind of contact with Arwen, they had little in common save her brother, they were friends purely based on the fact that they were female and often it was nice to have dealings with another elleth in a predominately male dominated world.
"Daughter would you see that Ellenya is taken to Elladan's quarters and settled in," Elrond asked in a soft tone, his eyes flickering to his sons and silently sharing some hidden information with them; Arwen nodded and gestured for Ellenya to follow, but the Princess stopped and gave Elladan a quizzical look, did he not mean to come too?
Elladan, keeping an easy smile on his face, bent in and kissed her on the cheek in order to whisper in her ear; "Ada needs to speak with us privately, go Ellenya do not cause a scene please!"
Ellenya lowered her gaze and worked hard to keep her expression impassive, she disliked being told what to do and it had been some time since she had been left out of important conversations. She felt her frustrations flare again towards Elladan, he was expecting her to protest and ask to join the obviously private chat, he was not wrong she would have! However in this circumstance, with all eyes waiting for her to snap and turn into the famed fiery and outspoken elleth, she simply smiled and bowed, taking her leave and walking briskly off with Arwen.
The two ellith walked silently along the beautiful hallways and connecting rooms of the houses of Imladris, to Ellenya this placed could have been created with the landscape like it had always existed. She loved the openness of these dwellings; there were windows and great archways with views so stunning and bright, the novelty of something different than her home and the Golden wood was refreshing to her.
"Here we are," Arwen eventually spoke as she pushed open beautifully, carven, silver wood doors, which opened into a light filled expanse of rooms, this elicited a tiny gasp from the Princess. "Forgive the sparseness of this place, it could really use a feminine touch to warm it up," Arwen mused from the doorway.
"Well you picked the right elleth to bring some colour to this place," Ellenya smirked over her shoulder as she glided into the room and skipped straight for the wide expanse of elevated decking; "Look at this view, I can see the river, I can hear the waterfalls and there is a garden at my very doorstep! This is wonderful no more walking miles to see a glimpse of real sunshine!"
Arwen grinned as she watched the younger elf swoop and dive around the balcony like a wide eyed elfling; "The benefits of living above ground are plentiful Princess, but I hope you are happy here, this is your house now. This is the living area and through those doors are the bedchamber and wash rooms. There is a study and library also and communal areas were we often congregate as a family, and those gardens are private just for you and Elladan."
Arwen finished her quick guide of Ellenya's new quarters and gestured for her sister to follow her to the bedchamber, Ellenya dutifully obliged. Through another set of silvery doors a smaller but no less airy room was found, it was immaculate and a grand carven bed took up most of the space, Ellenya was mesmerised by the billowing gossamer that hid most of it from view. Arwen quickly pulled back the material to reveal a stack of garments on the bed.
"I assumed that you would come with my brother, you two are never too far from each other when trouble is afoot," Arwen sighed and arched a beautiful eyebrow, "So I found you some suitable gowns to wear, you have no need of armour here Ellenya."
"I feared you would say that," Ellenya muttered and fingered the silks and satins of the gowns, "but thank you, that was incredibly thoughtful."
"No need to thank me, we are family now," Arwen answered but there was a strange tone to her voice that caught Ellenya's attention.
"Forgive me if I speak out of turn, but did I do something to displease you?" Ellenya asked, usually Arwen was full of life and cheer when they were in each other's company, but the beautiful elleth continued to appear morose and although she smiled there was a sadness in her eyes. Ellenya worried that maybe Arwen was not so happy with the idea of her union with her brother, which would be surprising considering Arwen's gracious nature.
"No of course you have not, I am just distracted;" the lady answered quickly, "Pay me no heed."
"Are you certain?" Ellenya pushed the topic; she did not want an enemy in Arwen.
"Yes," Arwen replied breezily and quickly changed the topic; "Ada will hold a feast in your honour tonight, to welcome you to the family. You will need a gown that turns heads and makes you stand out, something daring I would imagine?"
"You know me too well!" Ellenya chirped, "but I doubt we have the time to make such a gown."
"Oh do not fret I have already a plan in action," Arwen grinned wickedly, "There will be a dress to your tastes delivered by dusk in this room, consider it a belated wedding gift, until then I will send you my finest hand maiden and all you have to do is focus on preening yourself for the night,"
"You are spoiling me Arwen," Ellenya giggled, feeling relieved that the elleth was softening around her, but still there was shadow over her features that Ellenya did not like. Arwen waved off the statement and made her farewells leaving Ellenya to become familiar with her new surroundings.
The princess took great advantage of her privacy to paw through most of her new husband's belongings. She was amused by how neat and particular he was everything had its place and Ellenya considered that her careless and thoughtless nature, was going to dement him to no end; she had already kicked off her boots and strewn her outer garments about the rooms. So far Elladan's love of healing and all things medicinal had become apparent, he had alarming amount of literature and sketches pertaining to such things, and Ellenya quickly became aware that any flowers or plants he had growing in his rooms had many healing properties.
By now Ellenya had discovered the disappointingly small closet and was shamelessly rummaging throw Elladan's clothing. Thus far she had found an oversized light blue shirt and had traded her tight tunic for it, it surprised her that his scent still clung to it and that brought her comfort. Deciding that she had done enough damage to the dressing space, Ellenya rose and padded across the floor but her bare foot caught a chest. Curiosity piqued and noting the storage chest was not locked she decided, against her better judgement, to peek inside.
To her glee and guilt she discovered it was a stack of private memoirs, Ellenya wrestled with the decision to read or not to read the material. Alas her complete lack of concern or sympathy for privacy had Ellenya resuming her place cross legged on the ground scanning the papers. She was quickly wrapped up in his world and absorbed his descriptions of the places Elladan had seen and the battles he had fought and delighting in all his small discoveries from mixing with other peoples and customs. So engrossed in his words Ellenya barely noticed the presence of another and barely lifted her head to acknowledge the new elleth in her presence. The servant elf stated she had been sent by Lady Arwen to care for Ellenya and would draw her highness a bath immediately. Ellenya muttered agreements and continued reading; she had just happened upon a particular set of entries of interest, all regarding her.
Her name had been littered about the previous notes, and Ellenya had not taken much notice of it, but here he wrote specifically of her. His writings now centred on the aftermath of his Naneth's departure and he recorded every word, every encouragement and piece of advice she had ever given him. She got the impression from his words that he relied heavily on her at this time and Ellenya felt guilty that she had not been more observant over his sufferings. By the end of the entries she felt tears prick her eyes and she quickly swiped them away, a genuine smile tugging on her lips as she read the last few lines of the entry;
"...For every black thought and heartbroken whisper I made to the darkness, Ellenya was there shining a ray of light into the shadows. I do not believe she will ever know how close I was to leaving, how close I came to losing myself and my mind to vengeance and bitterness. What frightens me the most is that I do not believe she will ever realise that it is her that keeps me here and keeps me out of trouble, but I do live in hope, I am such a fool..."
"You are an emotional fool," Ellenya laughed softly and dropped the papers back in the chest. To her Elladan was always slightly dramatic and too open with his emotions for her liking. However his words touched her deeply and she vowed to try and be more open with him. Elladan needed to hear how much she relied on him too, only the Valar knew how thankful she was for him. Her long suffering friend and now distressed mate, was her shining light and she really needed to learn how to tell him that more often.
"My lady your bath is ready."
Ellenya startled at the servant's voice and jumped to her feet, she had completely forgotten about her existence. The princess nodded once and strolled in the direction of the wash rooms, aware that the elleth followed. When Ellenya got to the doorway she turned to the brunette elf, with pretty navy coloured eyes and rosebud lips and blocked the doorway;
"You know where I come from feasts are a joyful affair, and it is my custom to allow my hand maidens to take leave early so they too can prepare for the festivities," Ellenya said sweetly, not wanting to turn the elf against her by alerting her to her odd demands of solitude.
"There is no need my lady it is my duty and honour to assist you," the elleth answered and eased her way into the wash room, retrieving a towel and holding it out awaiting Ellenya to remove her clothing.
"No really I must insist," Ellenya coaxed growing more uncomfortable. The servant frowned and folded the towel over her arms and went to pull the hems of the shirt the Princess wore, wishing to assist her out of the garment. Ellenya shoved the elleth away and wrapped her arms tightly across herself, her awkwardness evident; "Really I can bathe myself there is no need, come now there must be some young ellon you wish to impress tonight."
"No my lady, I am already courting and he will understand if I am late," The servant continued unperturbed, whilst Ellenya backed up against the wall.
"Well that is wonderful, then why do you not surprise him and be waiting for him?" Ellenya tried again, her anger building at the elleth who would not just do as she was told!
"Cendir understands my duties, it is not ladylike to appear keen," The servant muttered boldly and Ellenya felt herself turn red. That statement was a direct dig at her and her hasty marriage!
"Can you not take a hint girl!" Ellenya screeched, "Please just leave!"
The elleth jumped and skittered back several steps her eyes filling with tears, shame burning her cheeks and she dropped her gaze; "I am only trying to help My Lady," she muttered.
"Would you just GET OUT!" Ellenya roared, her own face flushed with embarrassment.
"What in Eru's name is going on?"
Both ellith turned to see the figure of Elladan filling the doorframe, confusion and irritation lighting his eyes and he stared accusingly at the servant elf; "Gwyneth?" he questioned her.
"My Lord, forgive me, I was only trying to assist Lady Ellenya to bathe, I did not mean to cause any offense," the servant cried.
An understanding look crossed Elladan's expression and he eyed the tense form of his wife as she slinked defensively to the corner of the room, hugging her body tightly; "It is alright Gwyneth, it is just a cultural misunderstanding," he answered the unhappy elleth and gave her a forgiving smile; "Ellenya did not wish to offend you but her kind are more private in bathing rituals."
This seemed to pacify the elleth and she muttered her apologies as Elladan escorted her out of the room and out of their quarters, giving Ellenya her privacy. Once out of earshot the Princess slammed the door shut and hastily wriggled out of her clothing and into the bath. The water calming her temper, as she took a deep breath and disappeared from view, resolving to question Arwen on her choice of hand maiden for her. When at last she reemerged to the surface, Elladan was leaning on the doorframe frowning at her;
"That is the second time today you have managed to insult a member of my Adar's house, you have a problem Ellenya!" Elladan scolded but a smile played on the edge of his lips.
"That is the second time today that an elf of this land insulted me!" Ellenya hissed and sank into the bath water, if this was to turn into another argument she would rather not be naked.
"Insult you?" Elladan asked, with a quizzical look as he walked to the tub and knelt down to be eye level with Ellenya; "I do not think Gywneth is privy to your insecurities she was only trying to help."
"I am not referring to that!" Ellenya snapped, "She made a comment about it being unladylike to appear keen to a potential mate! That was insinuation about us!"
Elladan burst into laughter and it only grew louder the more the disgruntled look grew on his paranoid wife's face; "But you were keen, if memory serves me correctly and since when did ladylike apply to you!" he managed to say between fits of laughter.
"That is not the point!" Ellenya replied angrily, "And you were just as keen."
"Alright, I am not going to fight with you again," Elladan chuckled, "Perhaps Gwyneth is just envious."
Ellenya shot her husband a questioning look; "How so?"
"Well you have met her potential suitor, Cendir, can you imagine how dull that relationship is?" Elladan mused "Secondly, I may have courted her before, but I am sure that is noth-"
"You what?" Ellenya cried and sat bolt upright, "I thought there was no other but me?"
"There was and never will be another!" Elladan defended "However that did not stop my worried brother and sister trying to distract me. I indulged them; just to stop their incessant warnings that I would only have my heart broke by you. I guess I proved them all wrong?"
Elladan stretched over the bath and lent in to kiss Ellenya, who accepted it, and just when he had thought all was forgiven Ellenya gripped a handful of his tunic and yanked it hard. Elladan, losing his grip on the sides of the tub, ended up half in the water and scrambling to get out. It was Ellenya's turn to roar with laughter as she regarded her half drowned husband glaring at her as he staggered back.
"Ellenya!" he cried as he peeled off the sodden tunic, "I was going to wear that, and was that necessary?"
"Completely!" Ellenya glowered, "for all I know you could have broken this elleth's heart and now she has it out for me, do you realise the danger you have put me in!"
"I doubt it!" he growled as he stormed out of the room and called back; "Gwyneth in her words described me as; immature, unrefined and hopelessly in love with a fantasy! I can assure you there were no romantic gestures exchanged and I believe I talked the ear off her about you."
"Well then I will consider forgiving you!" Ellenya replied haughtily and sniggered as she heard Elladan mutter several elvish curses under his breath at the sight of his disarray dressing space. She counted the seconds until his face appeared around the door again.
"We need to lay down some house rules! The first, leave things how you find them," he grouched and scooped up a basin of water from her bath then chucked the contents over her head, smirking as she spluttered, "Second, do not use all the bath water, out it is my turn!"
"Fine!" Ellenya hissed and grumpily clambered out of the water wrapping herself in a towel and disappearing from the room, slamming the door behind her. Her foul mood was quickly forgotten when she spied the wrapped material set on a chair. Racing to the item she pulled the note from the string;
'This is guaranteed to turn heads, I promise you! See you soon little sister…'

Elladan eventually appeared fully dressed and prepared to face a peeved Ellenya, but she was not in their bedchamber and so with a sigh he went looking for her. Though he did not have to look far, Ellenya was waiting for him on the balcony. He grinned and went to make a smart comment but was stopped dead when she turned to face him, his throat drying up instantly and he was not certain but his mouth could have been on the ground.
The gown that Ellenya wore was exquisite on its own, but on her it was distractingly beautiful. The deep blue silk was like a second skin as it wrapped around her upper body displaying her curves, it tapered off at the hips and billowed out in a more sheer fabric. From her hip to the ground a slice of silver lace broke up the dress and the material so light one could make out the silhouette of her shapely legs. Her arms and shoulder were covered by the same silvery lace and her blonde locks were swept up loosely atop her head, showing off her regal and proud stature.
"Do you like it?" Ellenya asked innocently, inwardly enjoying how Elladan's eyes were practically falling out of his head. "It is not too daring, I would not want to cause a scene?"
"No!" Elladan spoke too quickly and Ellenya concealed a giggle, "It is…I mean you are…stunning,"
Ellenya laughed and danced to his side taking his arm; "Thank you and at least we match," she murmured appreciatively, as she regarded the same coloured blue tunic Elladan wore; "You look very handsome as always, but then again you could wear a sack and look perfect!"
"I do not think anyone will care how I look," Elladan answered softly and continued to gawp at his heart breathtakingly beautiful wife, who simply rolled her eyes at him. He sighed wondering when she would realise how beautiful she was.
"Well come on then, stop staring we have a feast to attend!" Ellenya grinned and tugged Elladan in the direction of the festivities; tonight she would make an impression!
xXx
Delicious feasts and warm hospitality was always what Imladris was renowned for and tonight was no exception. Delightful sounds of harps and flutes filled the air and the smell of food was incredibly inviting. All Imladris had emptied into the grand rooms eyes peeled and ears pricked, for elves were curious beings and nothing fascinated them more than tales of love. This Princess of wood elves had a reputation for being just as odd as her Father and as feral and unrefined as her people. Tongues were wagging as gossip spread about the new lady of the house, some curious indeed how one so wild would survive in a cultured and academic environment. They expected to see a caged animal, distrustful and uncertain of their place, they could not have been more wrong.
Ellenya radiated grace and flawless confidence, her magnetic gaze capturing all in her company and her sharp wit ensuring none took advantage of her. Lord Elrond's table was the busiest it have ever been, admittedly filled with young ellon unable to deny themselves the opportunity to gaze upon such a wild beauty, for indeed Ellenya's charm and daring dress was show stopping. The Princess took great satisfaction from their appreciative glances and flowing compliments, the ellith were also becoming enamored with the lively Ellenya, who inspired them with her courageous and fiery temper.
When at last the food was cleared, the elves settled for a night of entertainment and easy conversation. The crowds at the Lord Elrond's table thinned out and at last Ellenya could relax a little more, knowing the pressure to hold various conversations all at once were no longer applicable. She settled into a merry conversation with the other elves situated at her table, most of which were male and delighted in her ability to converse on matters of war and strategy. Elrond himself joining in the animated conversations and encouraging Ellenya's input, he was fascinated with the elleth for if he was being honest he had never expected her to last so long in this world. Yet here she was full of energy and with an insatiable love for life, a few years earlier and Elrond would not have believed this possible.
Two more elves joined the table and Ellenya did not even register their presence until the ellon cleared his throat loudly; "Lady Ellenya, you should be glad to know that I have retrieved your horse."
Ellenya took a sideways glance at the bold elf and smirked, lounging back into her chair and lazily swirling the contents of her wine glass; "Indeed, tell me how long did it take you? All afternoon?" she asked, and grinned when the elf scowled; "I thought so, you see Belan is not fond of elves who attack his mistress, maybe next time you will be more careful who you pick battles with Cendir."
"Easy dragon, play nice," Elladan warned playfully and leaned into his wife entwining his fingers with hers pulling her hand up to rest his lips there, Ellenya smiled sweetly in response making him chuckle. Elladan turned back to the lively discussion with his twin and Adar but still held Ellenya's hand in his; every now and then he absently brushed his lips over the crease of her wrist.
"It is like you have cast an enchantment over him," Arwen commented softly from across the table, noting the little gestures her brother engaged in almost unconsciously, "you should be grateful to have his affections."
Ellenya tilted her head to the side, not sure about the tone in the other elleth's voice; "I am incredibly grateful, I count my blessings every day."
"My apologies, I did not mean to sound so threatening," Arwen answered and stared at the ground for moment, then quickly rose from her seat; "Ellenya you must know I am happy for you, it is so wonderful to have you as a sister."
"Where are you going," Ellenya commanded and sat forward, the movement catching Elladan's attention and he gave his little sister a worried look.
"I am quite tired, I think I will retire for the evening," she answered gently and made her farewells to the guests and her Adar, before circling the table and wrapping her arms around her older brother; "Stop looking so concerned, I am glad you are back I have missed you terribly."
Elladan caught his sisters arm and the two communed silently for a moment, Ellenya catching the unmistakable look of sadness in her husband's eyes it was almost pleading.
"Arwen will you not stay, this is not good for you?" He coaxed but Arwen shook her head and attempted to brush off the statement.
"Goodnight brother," She murmured sweetly kissing him on the cheek, and then turned to rest a hand on Ellenya's shoulder; "Goodnight sister, I promise I will feel better in the morning and I can have a proper talk with you about all that I have missed." With that she was gone and tense looks were shared between Elladan, Elrohir and their Adar.
"I should go keep her company," Elrohir finally broke the awkward silence.
"No," Elladan murmured softly and rested his elbows on the table staring ahead at nothing in particular, "You cannot offer her what she needs, she needs the quietness just let her be."
"What is wrong? Is it my presence?" Ellenya piped up; still not convinced she was not to blame.
"Maybe," Elladan surprised her with his answer and tilted his head to glare at Elrond, the elder elf simply turned his attention elsewhere; "One can be envious of all kinds of love when the same is denied to them."
Ellenya watched the frustration work through Elladan's features and she was suddenly full of questions, but decided they could all wait to a more suitable time. Elrohir held the same annoyed expression but he hid it better, the tense atmosphere making everyone uneasy at the table.
"The Lady Arwen will be fine, there is no need to worry over her," came the surprisingly confident voice of Glorfindel as he rose from his seat closest to Lord Elrond and gestured to Ellenya with a bright smile; "I was promised a dance and I should like to know if the rumours are true?"
"What rumours My Lord?" Ellenya asked brightly.
"That you are a better dancer than your Father," The golden haired elf winked and the comment broke the awkwardness as others laughed and nodded in agreement.
"Well My Lord Glorfindel you are in for a treat," Ellenya grinned wickedly and knocked back the contents of her wine glass before slamming it down on the table and rising gracefully to her feet. She stepped around the table and worked a clip from her hair, so that it fell loose and tumbled over shoulders and down her back, then boldly kicked off her slippers; "Adar may be renowned for enjoying the odd dance or two, but I, well I consider it an art," Ellenya replied brazenly and held out her arm to be escourted unto the floor.
Glorfindel laughed and turned to the slightly stunned looking Elladan, a hint of envy colouring the young ellon's eyes; "You are a lucky, lucky boy Elladan," he smirked and strode confidently forward accepting Ellenya's challenging stance. They floated to the centre of the floor, as other dancing couple gave way for them, and began gracefully swirling to the refined and artful music.
The crowd gathered at Lord Elrond's table clapped along with the beat, some nodded approvingly, others were offended by the elleth's brazen and almost seductive behaviour towards such an elf as Glorfindel. For the most part though, the elves were entranced by the captivating and almost acrobatic ability of Ellenya's dancing.
"I think you need to get up there and steal her back," Elrond chuckled as he looked upon his green eyed son, Elladan glanced at his adar and sighed in defeat.
"I concur," Elrohir agreed, "but maybe an improvement in the music is needed."
Elrohir quickly pulled his twin off his seat and shoved him towards the dancing crowd, before making his way to the musicians and whispering a number of requests to them. He got his hands on a fiddle, turned to Ellenya and raised it above his head then shouted; "Little sister why do you not entertain us with the music of your home."
Ellenya whisked around and her face lit up at the mere suggestion; "Can they play the melodies of my homeland, are you sure they are not too wild?"
"They will follow my lead," he called and nodded to his twin.
Elladan shook his head at his brother and turned to face the crowd, "Come now my friends let us show Lady Ellenya that we too can enjoy ourselves."
This was met with much cheering as Elladan approached Ellenya and Glorfindel; "May I borrow my wife for a few moments?"
"Of course," the fair elf replied and nodded his thanks to Ellenya.
"Wait!" Ellenya grabbed his arm and gave Elladan a mischievious smile, "just stay here a moment." The Princess quickly turned to her audience and said; "Please I implore you come join with me, Elladan and I will lead you all in the steps, but it is easy all you have to do is move with the music."
Inquisitive elves began to make their way to the floor, whilst Elrohir managed to spur the musicians into a lively and moving rhythm of music. All the while Ellenya and Elladan pulled others onto the floor until at last it was filled. Ellenya quickly showed the ellith some steps and Elladan the same with ellyn, when all seemed to have caught the jist Ellenya gave the nod to Elrohir, who launched into a wilder and stirring beat. The crowd of dancers were flung together into a chaotic but extremely energetic and rousing dance. The onlookers began to cheer and clap excitedly to the beat, many rising from their seats to get a better view, even Lord Elrond himself was on his feet and laughing at the joyful scene.
The fast paced dance meant that partners were changed swiftly but Elrohir watched with a keen eye and knew his brother and Ellenya would not resist causing a scene. So when the two eventually crashed together in the midst of the dancers, Elrohir gave the nod to his fellow musicians the tune changed into something more fiery and passionate. The sound had the desired effect and Elladan and Ellenya were caught up in the music in an instant. The crowd withdrew giving them space and cheered the couple on, keeping time with their hands and some whistling encouragements.
The steps grew more complicated the louder the drums grew, and both Elladan and Ellenya were doing all they could to either shock, offend or captivate their audience. As the melody grew more rousing, Elladan gripped Ellenya's shoulders and ripped the lace overlay off her leaving her arms uncovered and she boldly planted her hands on his chest and pushed him away, all part of the dramatization of their dance. She swirled into the centre of the floor and hitched her skirts to above her knee, tucking the excess material into her chain belt. Arching her back Ellenya launched into a seductive set of movements which ignited the audience further. When she reached the far end of the room she ripped a lit torch from the wall and began to swirl and dance with the fire, the speed at which she moved caused the flame to come alive and the elves were mesmerized.
As the song reached its crescendo, Elladan caught Ellenya again and the torch was discarded, but that did not reduce the heat of the dance. The two were engaged in several complex and intricate patterns, Elladan lifting and Ellenya leaping in various passionate movements. At last the song came to a crashing close and Elladan weaved Ellenya back into his arms; the two of them shaking with adrenaline and gasping with exertion, as the last note played Elladan seized Ellenya in a kiss and the crowd erupted with applause and appreciation.
The passionate and now most talked about couple eventually made it back to their seats, as many flocked to show their appreciation. Elladan and Ellenya collapsed into their seats in fits of breathless laughter, for it had not escaped their notice that some of the elder or more refined elves were making disgusted faces and unhappy comments about the whole sinful scene. Lord Elrond held his face in his palm and was shaking his head in mock exasperation at the pair's antic's but the smirk on his face gave away that he too enjoyed the scene.
"Was the kiss really necessary?" Elrond eventually asked with a chuckle, "It may have caused some offense."
"It was all part of the play Ada," Elladan replied waving away the concerns, "besides it was a mixing together of cultures, you are always encouraging us to share what we have learned from our travels."
"Well if that is how they behave in the Woodland Realm, I should not wish to visit, how wild and unruly!" Cendir interjected disgust evident in his tone as he looked to the elleth at his side who nodded in agreement, she was none other than Gwyneth. Ellenya arched an eyebrow at the comment, but this time Elladan did not warn her to be careful.
"I would not worry Cendir, only the strong of heart can live and dwell in the lands of the Elven King. I imagine you would be tad out of your depth in such company," Ellenya answered quickly and retrieved another glass of wine, hungrily gulping it down to prove a point. She laughed at the repulsed face Gwyneth made and inclined her head towards the hand maiden; "You are a feisty elleth Gwyneth, you might actually enjoy my homeland! It is, how would you say, less restrictive over its laws on how ladies should behave!"
"With all due respect ma'am but I do not think I am feisty and I certainly do not wish to be! It is a lady's position in life to be a good wife and mother, to be skilled in arts and such things. It is not right in my opinion, for a lady to be skilled in weaponry or generally carry out the roles associated with Ellyn." Gwyneth defended haughtily and received a congratulatory nod from Cendir.
Ellenya sat up straight in her seat and pursed her lips for a moment considering the statement, whilst absently trailing a left over dinner knife along the wood of the table, at last the Princess spoke; "Tell me Gwyneth, how old are you?"
"I have lived three hundred years my lady?" the elleth replied with uncertainty, as Ellenya let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Presumably all three hundred of them have been spent here, along with your Naneth and Adar and the comfort of your safe surroundings?" Ellenya continued her questioning and Gwyneth nodded slowly looking to Cendir for support who looked just as confused. "Well then with your immaturity and sheltered life how can I possibly expect you to understand the roles that I and the ellith of my nation have been forced to assume."
All eyes were now trained on the two ellith and the one confused ellon. Ellenya lounged back on her chair assessing the blade in her grasp, before eyeing the two younger elves who were now suitably shaken. "You see I do not have the luxury of safety, my home looms in the shadow of Dol Guldor, everyday we are faced with threats and battle. If one does not know how to wield a weapon one can still die upon a weapon of another. The ellith in my home have to carry out the so called roles of the ellyn, if they do not they and their children could die. So your opinion of them is of great disrespect to me, not least because they are my brave and honorable people but because you insult my very Naneth, who died defending her children and her kingdom. You little girl are incredibly sheltered and you should really think before you speak."
With that said Ellenya rose up out of her chair and stared down at the couple with an intense gaze that left them without words; she felt Elladan take and squeeze her hand and she quickly reassembled her features into a glittering smile; "Nevertheless you are somewhat correct about us elleth of the woods, we can sometimes be very unladylike and I must confess we enjoy our equal footing with our ellyn, I think they enjoy it too." Ellenya stepped behind Elladan's chair and raked her fingers through his raven hair, he gave her a questioning look as she inclined her face to his and then glanced up at the quivering pair and around the table and said slyly; "But then again maybe that is just me?"
Before Elladan could protest, not that he would of course; Ellenya latched her mouth to his in a deep and searing kiss. There was a unanimous intake of breath and several titters, someone, probably Elrohir, whistled loudly and thumped the table in delight. The kiss lingered and Elladan already had his hand around Ellenya's neck refusing to let her pull away. He could not have cared less about their surroundings; in fact he was about several seconds away from really causing a scene. However a loud and irritated cough made Ellenya pull away leaving Elladan dazed and confused as to the abrupt ending. She straightened up and bowed her head to Elrond who eyed her with a warning look.
"I think you have made your point my dear," Elrond scolded, but the softness in his voice assured Ellenya she had not completely overstepped the mark.
"My apologies My Lord, I sometimes just cannot help myself," Ellenya apologized innocently and smiled adoringly at her husband, then lifted her wine glass and held it above her head, "But it is late and I am very weary from my travels, I shall take my leave now. I am most thankful for this wonderful evening you have all made me so welcome, here is too many more!"
Ellenya drained her cup and tossed it at Cendir who scrambled to catch it, her new family cheered and she curtsied graciously before gliding gracefully out of the great expanse of room. As she skipped along the corridors she smiled and inwardly congratulated herself on an evening of grand impressions.
xXx
When Elladan eventually staggered into his bedchamber, light headed and more than a little intoxicated, he was mildly disappointed to see Ellenya had been honest about feeling weary, he had hoped for a repeat of that kiss. She lay sprawled out on the bed above the covers, in nothing but one of his tunics and he chuckled at the sight. He removed his outer garments as quietly as he could, which proved quite difficult considering his lapse in co-ordination, after several run ins with chairs and the odd wall he was triumphant and Ellenya continued to sleep peacefully.
Elladan clambered onto the bed beside Ellenya and pulled a woollen blanket over her shoulders, tenderly he stroked her soft hair and watched with fascination the steady rise and fall of her chest. He had much to tell her and much to decide within the next few days, none of it would be easy, but for now he was happy just to be with her. Whatever silly arguments they had engaged in over their travels were nullified, at this point it did not matter what her reasons were for following him he was just eternally grateful she had. Caught up in the overwhelming feelings of love he had for this brazen and incredibly stubborn elleth, Elladan ducked down and kissed her forehead but as he did his vision blurred and he felt his mind's eye redirect his sight.
Elladan had experienced foresight a handful of times before, something his Adar encouraged both he and his other siblings to embrace and hone. But often the outcome of seeing a glimpse of the future is both unsettling and uncertain, for many endings are possible and all must be considered. In this vision Elladan seen flashes of events and situations; there was a battle on a wall, there was a dark prison and the stench of decay, there was fire and the clash of iron a greater war! His vision then split to two possible outcomes warring with one another; the first he saw Ellenya in a garden humming a lullaby to herself, he called her and she turned to him with a dazzling smile. The second came with an unyielding and incessant warning and it was much stronger slowly choking out the first and most beautiful image until it was only a shadow. In this dark and twisted vision he was forced to look upon the mangled, ravaged and bled out body of a fair haired elleth, the sight was so violent and grotesque he felt incredibly ill, but it was not until his sight focused upon the eyes of the elf did he wish to claw the image from his mind with his bare hands.
Elladan rolled off the bed, barely breathing and he raced from the room to the balcony, gripping a pillar he wretched hard and rubbed at his eyes furiously. It was Ellenya, she was dead but not just dead cruelly attacked, abused and then slit open. It was an image so vile and evil that he could barely comprehend it, nor could he accept it, in fact he would not accept it. Using the pillar to support himself and gain his balance, Elladan turned on his heel and went in search of his Adar, he needed confirmation that this was just a bad dream or a hallucination and not a vision of the possible future.
He found his Adar close by in the communal living areas, Elladan did not think for a moment that possibly Elrond knew this was coming and had actually been awaiting his son, he was too distraught to even consider the irony;
"Ada!" Elladan cried in relief and in pain, Elrond reacted quickly taking hold of his son's shoulders and assessing the level of trauma his fae had received.
"It is alright Elladan, take a deep breath and think around the images," Elrond was well aware of the intense emotions that came with foresight, if not properly guided a young elf could succumb to the grief of such unnatural images being planted in their mind without warning; "What did you see?"
"Ada it is Ellenya!" Elladan breathed deeply and gazed at his Adar with a broken look; "I saw her death."
Elrond let go of his son and dropped his gaze for a moment, gathering his words, and then quietly replied; "As have I."
dun dun ddduuuunnn...well I had to end the ridiculously long chapter somewhere :P Seriously it was really long! I hope I did not lose some of you on the way :S
Riiiiggghhhtttt so what did you guys think? Yay or Nay?
The more I get into this story the more I start incorporating other elves and I have to say I love it! Did you's like Glorfindel's appearance? I kind of have this image of him being like a celebrity to elves, not in a shallow way. My idea is that if middle earth was real and I met him, I would probably be swooning like a tween, and I like to think he is charismatic and incredibly hot too , one of those untouchable figures...like a Gatsby or something :P
