A/N: Hey guys! So as you guys know, I was really scared to post some of my one shots, and I just wanted to say, I didn't have to be! You guys are absolutely lovely with your reviews, and you're all supportive of my writing, so I just wanted to thank you so much! As a bit of a thank you for being so amazing, and an early Christmas present, I got off my lazy butt and pulled my head out of Oneshot Land to write this new chapter, so I hope you guys enjoy!

Chapter 9: Parents

James' parents arrived the next day, and Mrs Knight had the boys and Katie up early to clean the house before they moved in to apartment 2J.

"Morning Brooke, Jack," Mrs Knight smiled "how was the flight?"

"It was-" Jack began, only to be interrupted by his ex wife.

"It was average," Brooke said "the flight staff were slow on response, and there was some turbulence, but-"

"Why do you always do that?" Jack demanded, turning to Brooke "You never let me talk, you always have to take control of everything-"

"I don't always have to take control of everything, Jack, you're being ridiculous!"

"You did it again! Why do you always have to be in charge? Can't you be more relaxed like-"

"Like Brittany, you mean?" Brooke demanded, meaning Jack's new wife "Jack that woman's half your age, she could be James' older sister-"

"Stop!" Mrs Knight interrupted "It's only been a few minutes and you're already fighting! Have you already lost sight of why you're both here in the first place? James is in the hospital, he needs both his parents with him, and we need both his parents to be civil with each other, or else James' time in the hospital is going to be ten times worse than it already is!" Mrs Knight let out a breath "Now, I've put you both in Carlos and James' room, there's 2 beds in there so you won't have to sleep together. The other option is I move Carlos out of Kendall's bed and one of you sleeps with him, and the other sleeps with Logan in his room." Brooke and Jack shared a look before Brooke turned to Mrs Knight.

"We'll sleep in Carlos and James' room," she said, and Mrs Knight led the way.

Things were tense with both the Diamonds in 2J, and soon everyone was feeling the strain of trying to keep them calm; Mrs Knight was almost to the point of pulling her hair out, Logan and Carlos barely got any sleep because of the fighting next door, and Katie barely came out of her room when the two were around.

"Brooke?" Mrs Knight called out one day "I'm going to pick Kendall up from the hospital, so would you mind watching the kids for me? The boys are by the pool and Katie is in her room,"

"Sure Jen," Brooke replied from where she was reading a magazine on the orange couch.

"Thank you, oh- I'm expecting a specialist to drop by and have a chat with Kendall, so if a woman in a lab coat called Dr Johnston knocks on the door, that's who she is,"

"Kendall needs a specialist?" Brooke asked "What happened?"

"He's a little shaken up after the accident, so we have a specialist seeing him regularly to try and get him to open up a little. Oh, and she's advised us not to mention the accident or James' condition around him, because he gets very touchy and upset," Mrs Knight explained from the front door.

"Oh OK," Brooke nodded "I'll see you later then,"

"Bye," Mrs Knight smiled before heading out the door.

"Hi, is Dr Andrews in?" Mrs Knight asked the receptionist at the hospital a few minutes later.

"Yes, I'll call him for you," she said, pushing down a button on the phone "Dr Andrews to reception, Dr Andrews to reception." she spoke into her microphone "please have a seat," she said to Mrs Knight, who thanked her and did so. Dr Andrews arrived in the next few minutes, spotting Mrs Knight and approaching.

"Hi, Dr Andrews," the woman said "I got a phone call this morning telling me to come in, is Kendall ready to come home?"

"Yes," the doctor smiled "his head his healing nicely, he'll still have some bruising on his back and around his core, but getting up and moving around will do him good. If you could just sign these discharge papers and make your way into Kendall's room, I'll make sure he's out of bed and ready to go."

"Thank you," Mrs Knight smiled, and quickly signed the paperwork before making her way to the familiar room to find that Kendall was dressed and waiting for her "Hi sweetie," she said "ready to go?"

"Yeah mom," Kendall said "see ya, Dr Andrews,"

"Bye Kendall," the doctor smiled, bidding Mrs Knight goodbye before heading out.
