Bobby was packing his duffel bag. He had mixed feelings about this trip. Part of him was so excited that he was going on a hunting trip, but he had to go with John. John wasn't cut out for this type of life. He would be much safer if he just stayed in his stupid library reading books. He finally finished packing, so he headed to the library to get John. Of course, John was furiously scribbling down all information he could in his journal before we left. We weren't sure what we were going to be hunting, and we might not be there for a while, so I guess for once John was doing the right thing. He told John it was time to leave. John grabbed his bag and followed.
Before we left we said goodbye. John hugged Sam and Amelia, and Bobby could tell Amelia didn't really want him to go but she was going to allow it. Bobby stood there because we wasn't sure how to act around his dad. Should he hug him or shake his hand. His dad was a complicated guy. Then Dean hugged him. It was a surprise to Bobby, but he didn't push him away. John looked over to Bobby, and he noticed something. Dean whispered something to Bobby, but what could he have to say? John didn't like secrets, but that's what this family did. John looked at his parents. He knew he would only be gone for a week or two, but he knew what could happen on a hunting trip. Amelia said," Be safe. I love you." She was about to cry, but she held it back. John didn't know what he would do if she did. Then Dean threw Bobby the keys to the impala. Everyone in the room was shocked, but not as shocked as Bobby. Then Dean said," You scratch her you're grounded." Then he smiled at his son. Bobby and John walked out. They were going on a hunting trip, and they would be home in a few days.
Bobby loved driving the impala. He had dreamed of this day, and he was smiling the whole way to their first hunt. John found it a few days ago. Someone had been killed in an alley, which wouldn't really mean anything except this body was missing a heart. John wanted to skip it and go for a ghost, but Bobby persisted that they go after the wolf. John kept having seconds thought about this hunting trip because he knew he wasn't cut out for this, and he knew that Bobby knew it to. The drive was mostly darkness and silence. John slept because he couldn't stand the music that was playing. Dean still didn't believe in iPod or current music. Bobby seemed to love the music though. John was surprised that he hasn't burst into song already. The next thing he knew Bobby yelled," Rise and shine Johnny."
John woke up and saw that it was morning. They had arrived at the morgue. He finally realized that they would have to see the body to be sure. He cringed at the thought, and Bobby smiled at him. Another problem arose. Then John said," So how we going to get in. There's no way they're going to believe that we are FBI?"
Bobby's smile faded," Son of a…."
"Wait why don't we sneak in."
"How?"
Then John elaborated on his plan, which honestly might not work. Bobby went up to the front desk and chatted to the secretary. Lucky for them he was as charming as his dad. John sneaked passed with very little trouble.
Bobby asked the secretary," So…can I have your number?"
The girl blushed and replied," Sure."
Then the phone rang.
She said," Hold on a minute."
The girl went into another room. Bobby took this opportunity to join John. John was struggling to unlock the door, so he pushed him out of the way.
John replied, "It's not as easy as it looks."
Then the lock clicked.
Bobby said,"You were saying?"
"Show off."
They walked inside, and the body was still on the slab.
"Wow."
They started to examine the body.
John asked," So what happened with the secretary?"
"Man, I almost got her number."
"Liar."
Bobby smiled. He looked for the heart, and he noticed that John was turning green.
"You alright Johnny?"
John shook his head, but replied," I'm good. Is there a heart or not?"
"Nope."
"Can we leave now?"
Bobby smiled," Yeah lets go. Maybe I can get the girl's number."
"Dream on."
Bobby walked to the car while putting a piece of paper in his pocket.
John replied," I hate you."
"Dude, I can't help she's got the hots for me."
"She's too old for you."
"Oh well."
The boys hid behind a dumpster waiting for something to happen. They were hoping that the werewolf would come back to the same alley. It was now night and time for the monsters to come out. They saw a few homeless people and a possible prostitute, but no werewolf. Bobby could see John's gun shaking in his hands. He didn't want to admit it, but he was worried as well. He didn't want his first hunt to be his last. He needed to prove that he was just as good a hunter as his dad. He just had to be good at this. Then some girl was walking down the alley with a guy. Maybe this would be their big break. They waited for one of them to attack, but all they were doing was making out. But wait the girl has claws and fangs. Bingo. She was our werewolf. Bobby pounced on her before she could devour her next victim. John told the guy to run. While Bobby was trying to recover his gun, the girl walked over to John. He held the gun up to shoot her. He tried to pull the trigger, but she looked so human. He didn't have the strength to kill anyone. The girl smiled. She seemed to know that he couldn't do it. She attacked him. John was now on the ground. She was on top of him shredding his skin. Bobby got up, and then without hesitation he shot her. Bobby felt like a weight had been lifted. Thinking about the killing was difficult, but when he did it he felt better. He saw John on the ground bloody. He ran to him. John was still breathing, but barely. What was he going to do? He decided to do the only thing he could think of. He called 911.
A week later John was getting ready to leave the hospital. Bobby lied to the doctors and said that they were both emancipated, so they wouldn't call their parents. Bobby didn't know how to tell them that because of him John was almost killed and….now he was afflicted with the werewolf curse. He just stared at John sitting on the hospital bed. He feared that John would never be the same again. He had claw marks all over his body. Some would heal, but others would make some nasty scars. Bobby knew his father would be disappointed. The last thing his dad whispered to him was, "Keep John safe." He failed in the one thing that was important. He looked at John, who just looked defeated. Bobby asked," You in pain?"
John shook his head." What now?"
"I don't know."
"It's not your fault."
"Yes it is."
"Come on, don't beat yourself up. Besides chicks dig scars."
They both laughed.
Bobby said," We can't go home."
"I know. They would never understand, and they would probably…k…kill me."
"That's how we were raised. Kill the monster no matter who it is."
"Are you going to kill me?"
"No, now you're my responsibility."
John smiled.
"Thanks."
A tear fell from Bobby's eye.
"I promise you I will find a cure."
"Until then…?"
"We hunt!"
