(One Day Later)
Kagome sat listening to the girls that seemed to migrate around her; the topic at which they were conversing at this moment was none other than the new kid who didn't know the dress code yet.
"Yeah...he's really something." Kagome rolled her eyes; she didn't see what the big buzz was all about? For as long as she knew Yoh, he wasn't one to follow the same fashion trend as the people around him.
"I heard Manta flipped out in class." Satsuki laughed out.
Kagome honestly had to question herself, as to why the hell she listened to these girls, or hung around them at all. However, she was curious as to what happened with Manta, the short Koropokkuru look alike. "What happened with Manta?" She asked the girl to Satsuki's left, who was actually in Manta's class.
"Well, he was talking with his friends...or...I guess they are the closest things to friends that the short kid has, but anyways...all of a sudden he's yelling out how he really did see ghosts last night on the hilltop. This of course, if you recall, is where that motorcycle gang has been hanging out at. What's his name...Ryu? Yeah...Ryu and the Dead Enders...well, the new kid...he stood up to Manta's defense and was all like 'yeah, ghosts are real' and whatnot. No one believed him either, but now it's all weird and quiet, everyone is ignoring both of them."
Kagome stood up and left towards the door.
"Kagome?"
"Kagome, where are you going?!"
"Why does she always just storm out on us!?"
Kagome ignored the girls as she walked down the hall to Yoh's class. Peaking in, she saw a dejected Manta, and a seemingly oblivious Yoh. Sighing, she looked around; only those two were in the classroom at the moment. Walking in, she closed the door behind her then pulled a chair up to the front of Yoh's desk; sitting down, she faced him and waited silently for him to notice her.
It took a minute, but he finally opened his eyes and jumped back, letting out a yell in surprise.
"Kagome, what was that for~!" He placed his hand over his heart as he tried to calm it down.
"Yoh...were you there when Manta was at the cemetery the night before?"
"...ah...yeah," he turned his eyes to Manta who was paying attention, looking at Kagome and Yoh curiously.
"Did he ask you about it?"
"...sort of, yeah."
Kagome closed her eyes, "You said that you weren't there?"
Yoh smiled, "No...I said 'sorry, I'm new'." His smile turned into a solemn and upset look as he sighed, "I didn't realize he'd follow me and try to prove that there were ghosts. The guys told me what happened when I got there last night. I guess Ryu and his gang was causing havoc, Ryu broke the tombstone of a samurai, Amidamaru, who wasn't pleased at all by this. Then Manta, who witnessed this, got attacked by Ryu and his gang, and now..." he pointed his thumb back behind him at Manta.
"Yes, I saw." Kagome eyed the bruises and wraps. "Manta."
"...what is it?" he asked sounding a little bit put off.
"Me and Yoh are going to be paying Ryu and the cemetery a little visit tonight."
"WHAT!? That's crazy!"
"I know, but Yoh owes you that much. I will come to make sure things don't get out of hand, but I think...this would be the best choice between your options. One...you don't go, and live completely oblivious to the world Yoh comes from...or two...you do go with us...and enter this realm of unworldliness and antiquity. You will never get the chance to see something spectacular like this again...I think you may even come to appreciate, and admire it."
Standing, Yoh walked up to Manta's desk, "what do you say Manta? Come with us?" He smiled jauntily, holding his hand out to the shorter boy.
Manta stared at Yoh's hand; looking up, he took in Kagome's eyes and Yoh's. There wasn't an ounce of fear or worry in their eyes. Giving a nervous smile of his own, he held his hand out and took Yoh's. "You two are crazy...but I'll go. If it gets ugly though, I'm leaving!"
Kagome smiled, "stay by my side, Manta...and you will be safe. We will let Yoh take care of Ryu and his lackeys. I promise you Manta, we will take care of you, just trust in us."
Manta nodded as if in a daze.
Kagome turned and left the room with the boys sitting back down and thinking of what had just taken place. Kagome sighed as she returned back to her own classroom and sat down, waiting for the day to end and the night to begin.

Running home, she made her way to her house quickly. Having promised Yoh and Manta that she'd meet them at the hilltop cemetery, she ran up the steps to her house, the door opening for her as the Shikigami let her in. She kicked her shoes off and the Shikigami caught them before they even touched the floor. Making her way upstairs to her room, she changed into a white t-shirt and blue jeans before grabbing socks and shoes, pulling them on and running back downstairs. "Come on Souta!"
"Ka-chi!"
"We're going for a walk..." Kagome smiled, "I guess you already knew that though." She grabbed the baby harness from the Shikigami and they gently lifted him into the air and placed him into the harness on her back. "Thanks a bunch you guys, I'll see you all when I get home. Get dinner ready for four please!"
The Shikigami saluted as she ran out of the house and made her way towards the cemetery. She wasn't far away, so getting there before Ryu and his gang wasn't something she was worried about, until she saw him walking up to the steps of the cemetery. Kagome looked to the side and made her way up another way, jumping tree branches and tombstones as she raced to get to the top of the hill before the Dead Enders. '...I guess it's late enough...I just thought they would screw around the streets a bit more before making their way to the cemetery. It doesn't matter...' Kagome sighed, catching her breath as she stepped up to Yoh and Manta, "I'm here, Yoh...Manta...and so is Ryu..." she smiled a bit at the look of absolute horror on Manta's face.
She took a seat next to Manta and pulled the harness off her back and into her lap, giving Manta a look of reassurance, she smiled gently, "this will be fun, Manta, just sit back and watch. Ryu won't ever get close to you."
