I am so sorry for this update that took 79252704 years to complete! I have had heaps of assignments and lots of homework and writers block and everything else in between! Ugh. On a much, much, much happier note, I went to the 5SOS concert last week! It was amazing!
Alec's POV
Shit. I forgot that I ordered that stupid pizza. I rushed quickly to the door trying to hide my face as the others came into view behind me. I looked through the peephole and sure enough it was Magnus with the pizza. He looked really happy for someone delivering a pizza. Kind of creepy happy if you ask me. I gesture to the others to hide in the room closest to them so Magnus doesn't think that anything is up. I open the door and am greeted with one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen.
"Hi!" Magnus said, over enthusiastically. "You're Alec right? I'm Magnus. We go to school together." I nodded in response and asked him to wait at the door while I grabbed the money to give him. I walked into the kitchen to look for some spare change when I spotted Jace leaning on the bench.
"Part two of your dare," He said with his signature smirk, "is to ask for his number." I dropped all the money on the floor as he walked quietly back into the room he came from and joined the others. I picked up the money thinking of a good way to ask Magnus for his number. I decided not to ask him. Instead, I am going to write a note and stick it on the money that I hand to him and hope he gets the note.
'This may seem a little bit cheesy but here is my number – Alec'. I wrote hoping that he would get the cheesy pun. I walked back to the door o to find that he was standing in the exact same position he was in when I left to go and get the money. I handed him the money and made sure that I was obvious enough for him to notice that there was a note attached to the money so he would be able to text me. He looked down at his hand before taking the money and waved goodbye with a smile on his face. I turned around to see everyone looking at me with a smile on their face before they all burst out laughing.
"You should have seen his face! He was blushing!" Jonathan laughed.
"Did you get his number?" Asked Jace, still trying to catch his breath.
"No. But I did give him mine. Does that count?" I looked at him trying to act casual and like nothing had just happened but was failing miserably.
"It'll have to do if we wanna keep playing the game." Jace said, finally, after catching his breath. As they turned around, I let out a slow breath trying to be as discreet as possible but not discreet enough because Jon turned around and winked at me. I looked towards the ground and kept walking. By the time I had gotten to the room, everyone was already seated. "So what did you guys want to do now?" I asked hesitantly.
"I reckon we should watch a movie. Or jump in the pool. Or—" Jonathan was cut off by Simon yelling.
"We should play hide and seek chasey!" Simon looked a bit embarrassed as if he wasn't supposed to say that out loud but nonetheless everyone agreed and his face changed back to its normal colour. This wasn't a 'regular' high school party game by any means but I guess this wasn't really a 'regular' high school party either. No drunken teenagers running around half-naked and vomiting in the bushes or passing out in the middle of the floor. I could get used to this type of party.
Jonathan's POV
What a stupid idea. I thought to myself as Simon blurted out his suggestion of a party game but everyone else was agreeing so I just went along with it. I had decided before hand to text a friend to come and join the party just to keep things interesting and said person would be arriving in about ten minutes. "Alright then. I reckon we should go in pairs and I'll choose the pair just to make the game more interesting." I told everyone with a smirk. "Jace you go with Clary, Isabelle with Simon and Alec and I will go together. Now, who wants to count first?"
"Us!" Isabelle declared. Simon walked towards Izzy and stood as close to her as possible. I rolled my eyes. "We're going to count to sixty and then we're coming." They walked off to a room near the front of the house and began counting loud enough that we could hear them. Jace and Clary had already started running through the house trying to find a place in which to hide but they were unsuccessful so far. Alec and I went straight out the back into the hedges that lined the back wall and tried our best to move the leaves so that our faces were covered. "29, 30, 31, 32…" I heard the countdown and tried to still myself waiting for them to come and find us. Alec wasn't good at keeping still at all. He had awful balance whilst squatting and kept grabbing a branch to steady himself with. "57, 58, 59, 60. Ready or not here we come!" They shouted at the same time.
I grabbed onto Alec's arm to steady him as we waited for Isabelle and Simon to come in our area. I had a better vantage point than Alec so I had to check to see if they were coming or not and somehow signal to Alec to let him know. We decided that just a nod in his direction would let him know that they were close by. The grounds outside were pretty large so it would take a while for them to find us and we were thankful for that. From where we were hiding to the back door of the house there was about twenty metres of grass and rose bushes and paths that lead to the back door so if they did find us we would have plenty of room to diverge as we ran away. Ten minutes of waiting was long enough for me to think that they weren't actually gonna look for us. Conversing and deciding with Alec, we came to the same conclusion: slowly come out of the bushes and quietly go inside to try and find them.
We inched our way out of the bushes only to be bombarded with water balloons! I ran for cover from the incoming balloons as Alec just tried to attack his sister while laughing at her and trying to tell her to stop but she kept throwing to no avail.
"I'm going to get you back for this!" Alec called out at the top of his voice. I was laughing as he tackled his sister to the ground and held her wrists against the floor. Simon was on the floor next to the two siblings rolling around trying to get his breath back from laughing so much. Soon enough, Jace and Clary came out of the house to see what was going on. I ran over to the other side of the garden and hurled a water balloon straight at Jace's face. As the balloon fell to the ground, Jace's glare towards me was deadly.
"You don't know what you've just started." He stated.
Jace's POV
I grabbed Clary's hand and pulled her down behind a pot plant.
"Grab a handful of balloons and shove them wherever you can. In your pockets, down your t-shirt even. Just get as many as you can and make sure you do not run out." I whispered to Clary and started to gather my ammo as she gathered hers. It looked like there was an unlimited supply of them! The more there was, the better for me. I looked at Clary and she nodded, signaling to me that she was ready for war. I looked over the pot plant to see where everyone was and I just saw Jonathan's hair poke above the bush he was trying to hide behind, Alec was still wrestling his sister and Simon was trying to gather up all of the balloons that he could because he knew that something was about to go down. Smart idea, Simon.
I threw my first balloon so that it landed directly on top of Jon's head and splattered over his shoulders and his hair.
"Really Herondale! You just had to go for the hair!" I heard him shout and chuckled to myself. Clary looked at me and gave me a smile in acknowledgement and I just gave her a smirk back, which she returned with a roll of her green eyes.
"He's gonna get you back for that you know." Clary stated.
"I'd like to see him try, Red." I had spoken to soon because as I looked over the pot plant I got another balloon to the face. Clary laughed out loud.
"I told you so." She said in between laughs.
"This is not the end, Red. Not by a long shot."
Hope you guys enjoyed it! It's longer than the other chapters I have done because I made you guys wait for so long!
