"We're sorry for your loss." The police officer said to us. Killian was breaking down. I wouldn't blame him, first Milah, now his older brother. There were very few times I had fully seen Killian Faolan Jones break down. This was one of those times.
"How?" I asked. The officer looked at the file.
"Drunk driver. There was someone else in the car. A girl by the name of Taylor Johnston, do you know her?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, she's his girlfriend. Is she okay?" I asked pretending to care. The officer looked at the report.
"She's got a few broken bones but is expected to make a full recovery." I groaned. I hope she suffers the worst survivors guilt in the history of ever.
"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go call Wendy." I told the man storming up to my room and slamming the door. I blared A Trophy Father's Trophy Son by Sleeping With Sirens. I needed the music right now. It was going to be my only hope. I dialed Wendy's number.
"What Jace?" She questioned in a low voice. I facepalmed, remembering she was on a date with Pan tonight.
"Wend, Liam's dead. Drunk driver. Taylor was with him and only suffered a few broken bones." I heard her gasp from the other end of the line.
"You can't be serious can you?" Wendy said with tears in her voice, No, don't cry in front of Pan. He'll exploit it in every way possible.
"I can and I am. Now, don't cry. But get home. Tell Pan to take a rain check." I told her. I felt her nod and then remembered I couldn't necessarily see her.
"Alright Jace. How'd Killian take it?" She asked.
"He broke down, that's two people in a matter of months. I'm worried."
"Bye Jace, I'm headed to my place." Wendy said, hanging up. I collapsed on my bed and fell asleep to Kellin's voice.
When I go to sleep at night, your not there.
*~*LINEBREAK*~*
I woke up the next morning and put on a band t-shirt and jeans. I walked to the bus stop and waited. I got on alone and walked into school alone. Killian had told me he was taking the day off and by the fact that Wendy wasn't at the bus stop, it was safe to assume that Wendy had convinced her parents to stay home. I rode the bus and walked into school alone. It felt as if at the knowledge of my arrival the school went silent. I walked into homeroom where Ruby shot me a sympathetic look, but then mouthed "That sucks..." which made me laugh. The announcements came on and the secretary read off the announcement.
"And Principal Sanders would like to have a moment of silence for the fallen soul of Liam Jones, a senior who got into a car accident last night and didn't make it." the class took a moment silence and then broke out into mummers. I groaned.
"Even when your dead you get all the attention." I muttered, as I dragged myself to study hall. Emma came in and sat across from me.
"I'm pretty 100% positive your tired of hearing it but I'm gonna say it anyway, I'm sorry about Liam." She said in the only tune I would accept the statement in.
"Thanks Emma, and yeah I'm tired of hearing it. The worst part is his no good girlfriend survived. I wish she has the worst survivor's guilt ever dished out on a soul." I growled almost venomously.
"Survivor's guilt would suck even worse than dying. Trust me, I speak from personal experience. I assume Killian's taking the day off?" Emma said.
"Yeah, it's been a rough way to start the year." I replied plugging my earbuds into my iPod turning on the music.
"So is Wendy?" Emma asked. I simply nodded. The bell rang and I walked out to get to music. I arrived and sat down humming along to I'm Not Okay by My Chemical Romance. Completely suitable for the situation. Robin strolled in and sat across from me.
"Hey Jace." He said with a smile. I gave him a half wave as he pulled out his composition notebook.
"So I listen to your music and I decided that either King For A Day or She's A Rebel works for you." I nodded.
"I think King For A Day works. Are we going to do the choruses?" I asked as I pulled out the scrap of paper I had his songs on.
"I think that would be easiest." He replied with a nod. I looked over his list.
"For you, I'd go with SING." He smiled and grabbed a guitar.
"Remind me how the chorus goes for King For A Day." He said.
"You told me think about it well I did. Now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore. I'm tired for begging for the things that I want. I'm over sleeping like a dog on the floor. Imagine living like a king someday. A single night without a ghost in the wall. If the bass shakes the earth underground, we'll start a new revolution." I sang as Robin played along.
"That was damn impressive Jace. Really damn impressive." Robin mused. I smiled and blushed slightly.
"Thanks Robin. Do you want me to do SING?" He nodded and started to play.
"Sing it for the boys, sing it for the girls, every time that you lose it sing it for the world. Sing it from the heart, sing it 'till your nuts, sing it out for the ones that'll hate your guts. Sing it for the deaf, sing it for the blind, sing about everyone that you left behind. Sing it for the world. Sing it for the world." At this point the entire class was looking at me and Robin.
"That was very good." The teacher said in approval. I smiled and the bell rang giving me an opportunity to dart out.
"Laters Robin!" I called over my shoulder. I looked over and saw him giving me a half salute.
A/N: In honor of the season finale (EVERYBODY PANIC NOW!) I decided to get off my ass and finish this chapter which I started earlier this week apparently. /: I don't remember. However, I might not be updating as frequently as I'd like to due to standardized testings... *insert dramatic sigh here*
