I know it has been forever since I updated this and I feel so bad, I hope you all can forgive me. A lot has happened since I made this story and I mean a lot. But I have not forgotten about my faithful readers! Please enjoy this new chapter to A New Beginning!
Ethan's eyes began to slowly open as he heard soft chirping coming from the balcony doors, as soft sunlight shimmered in through the bay windows. Ethan could feel Benny's chest rising up and down beside him as he turned his head to look at Benny's sleeping figure. Raising a hand gently, he began to caress Benny's cheek as he gazed at the one person who had been there with him from the bad to the good.
"What would I do without you Benny?" Ethan asked himself as he smiled a little and then leaned forward and gave Benny a soft kiss on the cheek.
Ethan slowly moved out of Benny's grasp as he got out of bed and walked over to the balcony door and slid outside quietly. Ethan raised his hand to guard his eyes from the sudden light as he saw the sun coming up over the horizon. He could see sparrows and robins flying this way and that, as if they were playing with each other in the new day. Ethan walked over to the stone railing and rested his arms on top of it, the wispy clouds slowly moving overhead.
"You know, I think your mom and dad are looking down at you right now Ethan. And I bet they are proud of you, every day," came Evelyn's voice from behind.
Ethan turned around to see the elderly woman standing in a light blue nightgown, her short silver hair blowing gently in the fresh morning breeze.
"You think so?" Ethan asked, watched as she walked over and joined him in his early morning thoughts.
"I know so sweetie. Your parents loved you so much, and I know they still do." Evelyn said as she gave Ethan's shoulder a squeeze of reassurance.
"I'll go make breakfast okay hunny, wake Benny up soon. You two have to go register for school this afternoon and maybe pick up a few applications if your feeling up for it. I saw online that Macy's is hiring over at the super mall, I think you'd like a job like that." Evelyn said as she turned around and walked towards the house doors and slipped through them.
Ethan turned back to watching the clouds and the sun beginning to peak over the tree line in the distance, smiling as two butterflies fluttered towards him till one of them landed gently on his nose.
"Hey little guy, your brave aren't you?" Ethan said as he giggled at the feeling of the blue butterfly beginning to crawl across his nose and cheeks. "Come on now, flutter away!" Ethan said as he watched the butterfly begin to flutter it's wings till it took flight once more.
"Love you too mom!" Ethan said softly, remembering how his mother's favorite animal was the butterfly.
Ethan turned around and walked towards the doors, taking one last glance at the beautiful forest and
lake beside the house before walking inside once more.
I hope this does for now, kinda a filler chapter! Please review, and forgive me again for taking so long!
