They broke their kiss and looked into each other's eyes, smiling. What Castle had said, how everything that ever happened to them brought them to that moment, rang true. Her mother's murder, his two divorces, and that first murder that brought them together.
Beckett looked at Castle, biting her lower lip, and looked shyly at him. "I think we need to fix another thing we missed by not going to prom." She took his hand in hers and started to lead him out of the gymnasium.
The way back to the loft was spent with his hand on her knee and kisses on her head, cheek, and neck at every red light. When they finally arrived, they held hands all the way to his apartment.
Once inside, they kissed each other gently as they walked slowly to the bedroom. Castle removed his jacket and tossed it on the floor before slowly pulling hers off her shoulders. Between the kisses they shared they stopped to smile and emit soft giggles, as they both knew this was the happiest they had ever been.
They continued to remove each other's clothing as they made their way to the bed. Beckett pushed her way to the back of the bed, smiling at Castle as he followed, crawling his way to her. They looked into each other's eyes, smiling and kissing.
He was the first to say it. "I love you Kate."
Kate smiled at Castle before leaning up to kiss him once again, her hands traveling to hold his face. "I love you, too."
