Chapter 21: Think Again!

The fight was a fierce one. The wounded and the dead scattered across the cemetery's grassy floor. Lives were lost and neither side was pleased with its ending, yet the winners limped away victoriously. The ninja's found solace at a small church just outside of the cemetery. Their group was smaller of course, the fight resulted in losses, losses they hadn't really accounted for.

The church was empty and the ninja's were thankful. They slowly made their way to the front and rested on the pews, trying carefully to not drip blood everywhere. A medical kit was found and soon wounds were being bandaged and tiny gasps and grunts of pain resounded in the church. The sting of alcohol and bones being realigned were painful enough to prompt the normally stoic ninja's to let out sounds of pain.

A quick assessment of wounds was done and the group was deemed healthy for the time being. A harsh silence filled the air.

"Dudes, this sucks."

Until of course Michelangelo spoke.

"Yer tellin' me." Raphael replied.

"We'll get her back." Leo stated firmly.

"How? We don't even know where she is?!" Mike cried.

"Well, why don't we ask our little friend then?" Raph suggested, grinning evilly at the unconscious Foot ninja they had dragged with them.

"That's a great idea Raph. Wanna wake him up?" Donnie asked.

Raph's grin darkened as he cracked his knuckles. "My pleasure."

"Take it easy Raph." Leo warned gently.

"Oh I'll take it easy."

"He's not gonna take it easy." Mike mock whispered.

Leo brought a hand to his forehead as the body of the Foot ninja flew through the air, landing roughly on the floor on the other side. "I can see that Mikey." He replied dryly.

"What? That was easy! I coulda thrown him out the window and I didn't!" Raph defended.

"I don't think that constitutes as easy Raph." Don replied.

"For Raph, that's taking it easy." Mikey quipped.

"True." Donnie conceded. Leonardo and Raph were setting up their captive on a choir chair. Leo slid out a Katana, placing against the Foot's neck as Raph splashed some water from a water bottle in the guys face.

The Foot woke up, spluttering and panting. Eyes wide, he took in the turtles around him looking as if he was about to book it.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Leo warned, voice low and dangerous.

"W-What do you guys want?" The Foot asked. They had removed his mask and the soldier couldn't have been more than 19 years old. Leo felt a pang of sympathy for the kid, knowing that he was the same age as Mikey, caught up in a life of crime at such a young age…Leo shook his head, steeling his heart.

"Where is she?" Leo asked.

"I d-dunno what you're t-talking about." The kid stammered.

Raph growled and raised a fist. Leonardo held up his hand, stopping him as the kid flinched. "This is the first and last time I will stop him. Now, where is she?" Leo warned.

The soldier looked around frantically before slowing hard. "I-In a warehouse, d-down near the docks."

"Which docks?" Don asked.

"T-The one's near J-Jersey."

"Why is the Foot working with this Robert dude?" Mike asked.

"H-He's got alotta m-money."

"How much?" Donatello asked.

"Loads of it! H-He's been f-funding us for like, a decade."

"So it's all about the money now? Karai is so devoid of honor she's stooping to jobs involving kidnapping innocent women?" Leo asked, outraged.

"I d-dunno man!"

Leo grabbed the kid by the front of his shirt and pulled him close to his face. "Get out of here. Go to Robert and bring some of the wounded out there with you. Tell him you won; tell him we're dead and that you're sure of it. And don't try to find a way to tell him the truth, because we'll know. Donnie?"

The purple banded turtle walked over and the kid's eyes grew wide as Donatello pulled out some kind of technical equipment. Leo hit the soldier with the butt of his weapon, knocking him out.

"Where ya gonna put it genius?" Raph asked.

"Well the best thing to do would be a suppository—"

"Not it!" Mike quickly shouted. The rest of the group rolled their eyes.

"As I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted, a suppository would be the best thing, but I think we can secure it to his uniform for now." Donatello said. He grabbed the mask and fiddled around in it until he was apparently satisfied and set it back on the kids head. "You can wake him up now."

Raph grinned and took a step forward but Leo stopped him. "We don't want him dead Raph."

"I ain't gonna kill him."

"Maybe let Mikey takes this one?" Don offered.

Mike smiled. "Awesome." The orange banded turtle made his way over to the guy and picked him by the color before slamming him against the wall. The Foot soldier opened his eyes and groaned in pain.

"Leave. Now." Michelangelo said with a dark growl. The menace with which the youngest turtle spoke shocked his brothers. Mikey released the kid and he scrambled out of the church as fast as he could.

"You okay Mike?" Donatello asked softly. Michelangelo seemed to snap out of his trance and blinked at his brothers.

"What?"

"I asked if you're okay Mikey." Don repeated.

"M'fine." The youngest turtle replied.

Leo steeped forward. "We're gonna get her back."

Mike looked up at his big brother, a fierce anger shining in his baby blue eyes. It's obvious that the orange banded turtle was angry and feeling defeated at the loss of Kallie.

"Promise?" He asked, suddenly sounding five years old, the blue eyes losing their anger and suddenly filling with fear and a hope for his big brother to fix everything. Mikey hadn't looked at Leonardo like that in years. Leo knew right then and there that there would be nothing to stop him from finding Kaliyah safe and sound.

"I promise Mikey."

Mikey nodded once and made a move to grab his weapons off a table when he yelped and grabbed his shoulder.

"Mikey?" Raph asked, running over to his brother.

"M'fine." Mike grunted.

"Are you still injured?" Donatello demanded, eyes searching over Michelangelo.

"M'fine."

"What hurts?" Leo asked.

"I told you I'm f—"

"Michelangelo. What. Hurts." Leo repeated in his 'I'm not kidding' voice.

Mike sighed. "My shoulder."

"Is it outta place?" Raphael asked.

Mike shuddered at just the thought of it being popped out of socket. He's had those before and they are not fun. Don didn't give him a chance to answer Raph as he poked and prodded the shoulder in question.

"OUCH! Donnie!" Mikey yelped, jumping away only to have Raph grab his other arm and hold him in place.

"Yup. It's dislocated." Don announced.

"Oh no." Mike groaned.

"We gotta pop it back in place." Donnie told him.

"Can't it just stay this way?!"

"No Mikey, it can't." Don said apologetically. He knew how much Mikey hated relocating joints. None of them liked it of course, it was painful and felt so weird but the only way to fix it was to pop it back into place.

"C'mon Mike." Raph gently tugged the youngest turtle towards a table near the altar. Mikey gripping it tightly with his right arm while Donnie grabbed his left.

"On the count of three, okay?" Don told him.

Mikey nodded, not saying anything.

"One…"

Mike closed his eyes.

"Two…"

POP!

A pain filled scream ripped through the air. A few seconds later Mikey was panting for breath and wanting to punch his brother in the face.

"What happened to three?!" Mike demanded.

"You would've moved."

"How do you know, you didn't give me a chance!"

"You always move Mikey!" Don argued.

Mikey rolled his shoulder, wincing slightly but thankful that it didn't hurt as much. Don rolled his eyes and turned around to walk out of the church. Mikey took his chance and ran ahead, smacking Donatello hard in the back of the head.

"Ouch! Mikey!" Don cried, reaching for his Bo to whack his stupid little brother.

"Don, Mike, enough!" Leo grabbed Don's arm. "We need to get going and get Kallie."

Don glared but put his Bo back in its sheath.

Leo was right.

They had a friend to save.

OoOoOoO

"You have to remember! You have to try!"

Smack.

"I won't!"

Smack.

"It wasn't a request!"

Smack.

Kaliyah spit the blood out that had been welling inside of her mouth the past few hits. She made sure to get as close to Robert as possible, smiling on the inside when she saw that it had made it onto his shoes. Robert shouted a string of obscenities before rearing his arm back and hitting her in the face, hard.

Kallie felt her head snap back from the force of the blow. She was in a lot of pain, but she refused to cry out, to make any kind of noise that would give the impression that Robert was hurting her.

They had been at this for about an hour now. Apparently he was sure that Kallie would be able to just use this unknown power of hers and that she would go ahead and listen to whatever it was that he wanted her to do.

Pffft.

Fat chance that was going to happen.

First of all, she really didn't know how to use this 'power.' She couldn't really recall a time where she consciously used this telekinesis thing. Everytime something strange had happened when she was younger, her mother and father always had an explanation for it. So how in the world was she supposed to use a power she didn't know she even had until a few hours ago!

"I can do this all night." Robert growled.

Kallie glared at him with as much hatred as she could muster.

"Me too."

Smack.

"Do not test me girl." Robert growled again.

Smack.

Kallie was starting to see stars at this point. She was honestly surprised that she hadn't been knocked unconscious yet. Although, she had a feeling that it wouldn't be long until she did black out. She welcomed it though. It would be an escape from the pain.

"Make that door open now." Robert demanded.

"I can't."

Smack.

"Now!"

"I can't!"

Smack.

"NOW!"

"I CAN'T!" Kaliyah screamed, feeling all of her frustration and anger coming out and focused on Robert.

And all of a sudden Robert was up against the door. His eyes wide with shock as he looked incredulously at Kallie, who was panting and trying to catch her breath. She raised her eyes to him and a slow smile crept across Robert's face.

"That's a more like it."

Kallie was shocked and scared. She had never seen anything like that before in her life! Had never felt anything like that before in her life. Earlier, when she had been told that the turtles were dead and that her dead had been killed by Robert she had felt…helpless. Just then though? With Robert hitting her over and over again? She just felt…pissed. And that anger seemed to have been exactly what she needed in order to use this power she apparently had. Kallie wiggled her bound hands and found that the ropes were much looser, and she knew she only needed a few more minutes of continuous rubbing in order to snap them.

Unfortunately she had just given Robert what he wanted and she knew he would not leave her be.

"So…getting you angry is the key to your power?"

"Don't even think about it." Kaliyah gasped out. The act of throwing Robert against the door had apparently taken a toll on her.

"I am not afraid of you," said Robert. "You will not be able to harm me."

"I think I just did."

Robert shook his head. "As soon as you learn how to control and use your powers my team of scientists will be able to inject me with the serum."

"What serum?!"

"A mixture of your blood with the vial of blue liquid the late Donatello found."

"Don't talk about him." Kallie hissed.

"Why? Does that make you…angry?" He smiled.

"I am not a puppet for you to control."

"You will do as I say."

"Why?" Kallie demanded. "Why the hell should I do anything that you say?! You killed my father, you killed my brothers, and you destroyed EVERYTHING!" She shouted at him. "I have nothing left. NOTHING! What else could you possibly take from me?!"

Robert smiled that evil smile of his once more.

"Your mother."

Kallie's head snapped up, eyes wide and filled with terror.

"B-But you l-love her…"

Robert scoffed. "I tolerated her."

"I-I don't understand…"

Robert looked disgusted and angry. "I know you are smarter than this Kaliyah. I have been honest with you about everything these past few hours. Everything I've ever done was to get closer to you. I only married your mother to get to you. She means nothing to me."

Kallie couldn't believe what she was hearing. Robert had seemed to have at least loved her mother. But now…now she had no idea what to think.

A knock suddenly sounded at the door.

Robert looked murderous as he turned around and walked to the door.

"This had better be good."

Some Foot soldier had stepped inside the room. Kallie could see him glancing nervously at her through the corner of his eyes.

"What?" Robert demanded.

"T-The turtles are d-dead sir." The kid stammered.

Kallie took a sharp intake of breath.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"P-Positive. I saw it m-myself."

"No…"

Robert turned to look at her, a sadistic smile growing on his face. "You see? I told you they were dead."

Kallie knew he had told her this. She had even thought she had come to terms with it. But hearing someone else confirm it…someone who wasn't Robert…well now that hopeless feeling was back.

"Thank you. You're dismissed." Robert told the soldier.

The kid glanced at her once more before disappearing.

"Now…shall we try this again?"

Kallie spit in Robert's face in reply.

"You bitch!" He shouted, rearing his arm back and cracking it into her face.

And that was all it took.

OoOoOoO

"Guess the kid's smarter than he looks." Raph commented as they heard the Foot soldier deliver the message they had told him to.

"Are we almost there Donnie?" Leo asked, as they continued to run across the rooftops.

"About forty meters away." The genius turtle replied.

"Where exactly is she?" Mikey asked.

"Looks like twenty feet under the docks." Donatello answered.

"Think she's okay?" Mike asked.

"She will be once we get there." Raph replied.

And the faster they ran.

Two minutes later and the turtles were camped outside of the docks.

"The place is crawling with Foot soldiers." Don told his brothers as he looked through his heat seeking binoculars.

"How many?"

"At least twenty in the main foyer. Who knows how many once we actually get past those."

"So what's the plan?" Mikey asked.

"Take them out. All of them." Leonardo replied.

Raph smiled. "Gladly."

Entering the foyer was easy.

Getting past the foyer had been the difficult part.

The four brothers were accosted immediately. It was as if the Foot had been waiting for them. And although they were greatly outnumbered and still recovering from injuries from the last fight with the Foot, they still won. Bodies littered the floor much like they had in the graveyard. It always pained the leader of the turtles to see this. Shedding blood was always the last thing Leo wanted. He always tried to knock them out, so that they had a chance to get out of the Foot clan and have a real life, free of crime and free of the Foot's influence.

But now?

Well, now it was personal. They had taken family. And whenever they took family, Leo held nothing back. Oh they could threaten him all they like, but no one messed with his family. And they had taken his little sister and they would all pay.

"Where to next Don?" Leo asked, wiping the blood off of his Katana.

"There's a room to the left that leads to a stairwell, that's where the kid had gone." Don answered.

"Let's go."

More Foot ninja awaited them of course. Leo had no doubt that someone had slipped away to alert everyone else of their presence, but it wasn't something that he could concentrate on at the moment. Mikey was taking on four ninja while Donnie and Raph each had three. Leo was grappling with his own group of five. Luckily Leo had long since perfected fighting while also keeping an eye out on his little brothers.

Raph was doing fine, and almost done with his three. Mike was doing better than expected with his shoulder, but Leo could see the slowness in his movements. Don was struggling a bit too and once Leo was through with his five he went to help his second little brother, easily slicing through one of their ankles. The soldier went down easily, crying out as he fell. Don looked relieved as Leo helped bring down the rest of the Foot ninja.

"Thanks." Don said.

"Anytime little brother." Leo replied. Michelangelo had just finished off his own group as they headed towards the stairwell. They saw a door and were about to open it when it was blown off its hinges.

The four brothers jumped out of the way just in time. Before any of them could see what had happened the room flooded with Foot soldiers. The boys jumped into action, grabbing their weapons and ready to fight when bodies started spraying out of the room.

And all of them were Foot soldiers.

"What the hell?!" Raph asked.

Something whizzed right past the group, all of them ducking to avoid the blow, and slammed into the wall.

It was Robert.

The turtles ran over to him.

"Is he…?" Mike started.

Don grabbed the man's wrist. "Dead? Yeah…yeah he's dead…"

"Who killed him?" Leo asked. And the four brothers turned around and made their way into the room.

There in the middle, bloody and bruised, stood Kaliyah Miller.

"Did I get him?" She asked, her words slurring.

And then she crumpled to the ground.
