Chapter 4

~Time Skip 2 Years~

(Raven POV)

He smiled as he snapped shut his last suitcase. 'I'm finally going to see him!' Humming he grabbed the luggage and sat it next to the rest by the door. With a skip in his step he turned to the vanity. He had changed quite a bit in the past two years. His hair now reached mid-back. He was petite but no longer looked like skin and bones. His marks had spread as well. The beautiful pattern now flowed down the sides of his neck, over his shoulders and down his spine, to wrap around his hips. He had also gained a lot of knowledge about the world and his mother while at this House of Night. He exceeded past Gizelle's expectations. She had been so delighted when he had told her about the dream from when he had been marked. She had trained him the hardest out of her old apprentices. Making sure he knew all he could about his mother and goddess, and her rituals and history. He thought fondly of the multiple and rigorous training sessions. Whether with Keenan or Gizelle he enjoyed his training.

A purr sounded beside him on the bed. Blinking Raven looked down toward the noise. Sitting there smiling cattily was his familiar Mistoffelees. Mistoffelees had a beautiful black coat with a white chest and paws, and haunting bright blue eyes. He was small for a tom but that just made him more wonderful in Raven's eyes. 'Just like the character from Cats!'

"Well, hello there stranger." He scratched him behind the ear, "Have you been causing trouble everywhere before we go?"

Another rumbling purr was his answer. He giggled and rose off the bed. "I was about to bring out Jingles." Mistoffelees' ears perked up. Raven let out a laugh and sat the cat carrier on the bed. "Time to get going Mister." Picking up the familiar, he placed him inside and shut the little door.

"Jingles is in there as well as your pillow. So you should be good for the flight." Raven smiled at the answering purr. 'Man, he is addicted to that toy.' Jingles was a mouse toy that had several bells sewn on him and a long tail you could dangle him by. Raven had bought him when he first connected with Mistoffelees. The little tom had been just adorable.

"Knock, knock. You ready?" Keenan smiled sadly from the door. Raven returned the smile and rose to give him a hug. Wrapping his arms around him he tried to soak up as much warmth from his mentor as possible. After this the only way he could get to see him would be by skype or facetime. Visits would be hard to come by especially in the coming months. These thoughts made Raven bury his face in Keenan's chest. Needing all the strength he could get.

Giving one last squeeze he nodded and stepped back, "Yeah I need to go."

Keenan smiled forlornly at him, grabbed his suitcases, and nodded towards the door, "You grab Misto and your pack and we'll be off."

Raven nodded again and followed Keenan's lead. At the door he turned and bid goodbye to his old life. Sighing he left to follow Keenan to the private hangar. The twists and turns to the hangar were as familiar as the back of his hand and he soon zoned out. His thoughts anxious, 'I hope I make a good first impression.' A flash of Kalona's smiling face went through his mind. He smiled as he remembered their first encounter. 'Even if it was only a dream, he was so sweet, so loving.' Although they would definitely be talking about his recent choices when he got there. 'Oh, yes. That man was getting smacked in the head.' Raven had done his research on him and he was not impressed. He knew everything. He had even gotten Nyx to talk about him, which was a huge victory in his opinion. His mother always had a forlorn look when she spoke of him. 'But,' he perked up, 'she smiled when I told her of my feelings and the vision. Actually she practically beamed.' She had explained that she hoped I could heal him and in turn he could protect me.' At that thought, I suddenly stopped. A feeling of trepidation fell over him. He glanced quickly up to Keenan.

"Who's going to be my guard over there?"

Keenan paused and looked back, "I heard it was going to be Shane and Maddick." He smirked and kept walking.

Raven gaped, almost dropping his stuff, "Maddick! Why him?!" 'Why? Why? Why?' I mean the headmistress should know this wouldn't end well. When put together we were like firecrackers and gasoline. Maddick could be an arrogant, pigheaded, narcissistic bastard when he wanted to be. Although, sometimes they did get along and he liked Maddick. When they were bickering or sparing it was a fun experience, but otherwise they couldn't stand each other.

"Because he volunteered." Raven's eyebrow twitched as detected the amusement in his tone.

"You have got to be kidding me."

"Better get used to me princess." Raven stiffened at the voice. Turning slowly Raven glared up at the 6'2 warrior. He had blonde hair that reached his shoulders, grey mischievous eyes, and his mark made up of strong Celtic figures. He wore a simple t-shirt that stretched over his muscular chest and jeans. His feet were clad in leather boots and a sword sheathed at his waist. He looked every bit the warrior that he was. Except for the cheeky smirk on his face. Raven just glared, Misto even hissed at the cocky guy from his carrier.

"Stop antagonizing Raven. You never know when his patience will be gone and he uses his powers to whip your ass." Sauntering up was Shane. Another warrior but this one more tolerable. Same height as Maddick, he had short brown hair and jagged marks of an adult vampyre. He was dressed in the same like as Maddick very casual except if not for his sword strapped to his back.

Raven tilted his head, 'Yeah kinda ruins the casual look.'

Maddick smirked back at him, "Nah- princess wouldn't do that to me." He laid an arm on Raven's shoulder, "He loves me too much."

Raven's eye twitched again in annoyance. He pushed Maddick's arm off, "I wouldn't count on that." Turning he walked to the hangar, set on ignoring the blonde vampyre as much as possible.

(Kalona POV)

Kalona's wings twitched as an anxiousness settled into his being. An annoying but still troubling feeling. He hoped it had nothing to do with him. His mind flashed with worry. Why would this feeling be here? His son was well and happy. They were getting closer ever since he pledged himself to the death priestess. The sense of anxiousness twitched. It was unsettling but did not feel like a warning. It felt like his soul was waiting impatiently for something. 'How strange…'
