As soon as Allen saw Lavi sitting in the office his instincts told him to run away in the opposite direction, and he was right. He was sure he hadn't been spotted by Komui yet and was about to turn around and tip-toe quietly away, until Lavi caught glimpse of him through the glass pane in the door.
"Oh there you are, ALLEN!" The red head announced loudly, creaking open the door and waving dramatically. If I'm getting in trouble, then you are too~! He thought as the young boy stiffened and turned around.
Shoot.
As Allen marched back in the direction of Principal Komui's office he made sure to send a sharp glare in Lavi's direction who responded with a teasing grin. The clueless duo shuffled in, Lavi reclaiming his seat on a hard plastic chair and Allen taking a similarly uncomfortable seat next to him.
"Ah. Mr. Walker, so you decided to show up?" Komui asked dryly, his tone laced with sarcasm. Allen looked up at him blankly, because that's really all you can do when you're in trouble with an authoritative figure. Sit there and play dumb. Komui treated Allen's 'innocent' act with distaste, deciding to skip the icebreaker and get straight to the point. The Chinese man rested his cheek in his palm and started rolling his pen up and down his wooden desk. Lavi regarded Komui irritably and stared off to the side with a bored expression. How long will he have us waiting?
"Mr. Bookman." Lavi jumped at the sudden tone of voice in the otherwise quiet office and returned his attention to the principal.
"Y-yes?"
"Your teacher evaluation is perfect so far..." Komui declared nonchalantly, grimacing as Lavi beamed.
"Yes, yes, I know I'm amazing!" he bragged, ignoring the teen next to him who was currently rolling his eyes.
"That is... what I would say, if not for this." Lavi's smile dissipated and he looked in Komui's direction where a file was displayed and held up in plain sight. Realization dawned on him and he laughed nervously when he saw that the name printed on the paper was in fact the name of the snowy haired teen that was sitting next to him, curiously looking over at the file.
"Ehh? Was I always doing so bad in your class?" Allen asked incredulously, his eyes widening at the unbelievable failing grade that seemed to mock his very existence. Allen knew he wasn't exactly a genius when it came to stuff like this, but he wasn't that bad. Lavi sighed and rubbed the back of his head. This was such a pain! He wished he could just raise Allen's grades himself. Unfortunately, the grades are put in automatically after every assignment by computer, so the teacher's don't have anything to grade and could go into detail when teaching instead of rushing through. It was actually very efficient, a little too efficient for Lavi's taste.
"Honestly, even going to the beach when your student's grades have plummeted? You aren't doing your job, Lavi." Komui mumbled with obvious concern, taking a sip of coffee from his mug which was whimsically decorated with a pink rabbit.
"But you were there with u-"
"ANYWAY! I'm putting you in charge of getting Mr. Walker's grades up."
Lavi groaned in frustration before taking a deep breath and turning to Allen. "If we're gonna do this, we're gonna do it right. Let's have a study session at your house." Normally, this would be a bit questionable for a teacher to be so nonchalant with going to a student's house, but Komui didn't even bat an eyelash. He didn't question this because the man knew their relationship, as long as nothing inappropriate was done everything was fine. He watched with little interest as the two walked out of his office, Lavi grinning and Allen grumbling under his breath.
Allen hadn't noticed it before because his white button up shirt had a collar, but when he stripped it off to take a shower, his eyes widened in response to the red mark that adorned his neck.
What. The. Hell. Allen thought back to last night and blushed profoundly when he realized it was Lavi's doing. Dammit... that bastard...he'll never let me forget what happened will he? He shook his head, attempting to rid himself of those thoughts. He regarded the small round mark again, it was really noticeable .. It was a good thing that no one had seen... boy, if Lenalee had gotten a glimpse, he wouldn't have heard the end of it. Speaking of which... He thought, deciding he'd text her to see if she was alright. He gave one last embarrassed glance at the mark before covering it up once more with a cream colored turtleneck sweater, hoping that it'd go away in a little while.
Allen grabbed his phone from off the counter, texting a quick message to Lenalee. Throwing his phone on the couch, he followed suit, crashing down onto the soft and plushy surface. A small chirp was heard from the kitchen and Allen gave a half smile. I'd better go feed Timcanpy... He got up once more, walking into the kitchen and picking up a bag of birdseed. Timcanpy chirped happily when Allen got closer with the birdseed and tilted his head in anticipation when the small teen emptied the bag's contents into the small bowl. Allen watched in amusement as the canary glided down to the bottom of the cage and pecked hungrily at the seeds. He curiously poked his finger through one of the openings in the cage before withdrawing it quickly, as it was pecked at angrily.
"Ow... note to self, never stick my finger in there while he's eating..." Allen mumbled, pulling his finger to his mouth and licking off the small drop of blood that trickled down. Allen looked up warily as the doorbell rang a soft chiming noise. He already knew who it was.
"Afternoon Allen~!" Lavi greeted, a bulky bag was slung over his shoulder and a couple books were cradled in his arms. Allen blushed when the red head's presence brought his attention back to the small mark on his neck and he regarded him in annoyance. When Lavi didn't hear a greeting in response, he pouted like a child and poked the younger male's cheek playfully.
"What did I do?..." Lavi muttered, wincing when the teen smacked his hand away and covered his face. A soft blush came unbidden to his cheeks despite how much he willed it to go away.
"I don't even want to show it to you..." Allen grumbled in embarrassment, peeking at Lavi through his fingers and blushing harder when the red head attempted to remove his hands from his heated cheeks.
"Oh c'mon, it can't be half as bad as your reaction." Lavi muttered, a bit annoyed that Allen was beating around the bush and covering his face. Allen sighed, finally giving in, he peeled down the turtle neck to reveal the small cherry red mark. Lavi's head tilted in confusion before his eyes widened and a playful grin crossed his face.
"Nothing to be embarrassed about short stack! It's just a little memento of that night~" Lavi announced perversely, earning him a whack upside the head from the embarrassed teen. Allen ignored the dramatic sobs that came afterwards and made his way to the kitchen table. Timcanpy chirped loudly, catching their attention.
"Look how big you've gotten since I last saw you! Allen, what are you feeding him?" Lavi asked with a half smile, nuzzling the small bird with his finger. Allen chuckled when the bird nipped at his finger, invoking a sharp curse from Lavi.
"Timcanpy seriously has a biting problem." Allen commented.
"Yeah, I noticed." The older of the two said through gritted teeth. Who knew beaks could be so sharp, he was almost holding back tears!
"Alright, let's get to work." The red head announced sorrowfully, as if the very word caused him pain. He tugged off his bag and threw it very ungracefully onto Allen's kitchen table, pulling out a ton of literature books. Allen excused himself and went to go make a snack for when he needed a break. Oh, he'd make extra for Lavi too of course...maybe. Said red head watched with an amused expression as Allen took down a bag of bread from the cupboard and walked to the fridge, taking out some cheese slices. After putting them together and toasting it thoroughly, then repeating the process a few times, Allen created just enough grilled cheese sandwiches for a snack. He scooped one up and had a taste test, satisfied with the flavor he threw them on a silver platter and walked back to the kitchen table.
"So 15 sandwiches is your limit, huh?" The red head asked with a smirk.
"This is just a snack." Allen said nonchalantly, ignoring the look he received from Lavi.
"Of course it is." He replied, thumbing through a literature textbook that he didn't look very interested in reading. Allen placed the platter of sandwiches on the table, instantly chowing down on a few. Lavi stared at the platter disapprovingly, checking his watch afterwards.
"Congratulations, we've been here an hour already and you managed to make lunch."
"Oh hush." Allen responded, shoving a grilled cheese in the unsuspecting red head's mouth. He was taken aback and almost spit it out, before actually chewing and lighting up at the taste. The bread was a toasted golden brown and the cheese was gooey and melted to perfection.
"Man... I knew you were a good cook but... this is amazing." Lavi complimented, scarfing the sandwich down. Allen blushed like he usually did when he received compliments and a small smile crossed his face. Lavi cracked open a book, deciding that they should actually start studying, and focused on what Allen was the worst in: Poetry interpretation. Allen was surprised that Lavi could sound so smart, he explained everything thoroughly and when Allen didn't get something Lavi wouldn't get frustrated or upset with him. They had a silent work period and they finished Allen's 'snack' with the evening fast approaching. Everything running smoothly, without a hitch.
It all went downhill when the doorbell rang for the second time that evening. Lavi was quite annoyed, as they just started covering the important stuff.
"Ah, gimme a second." Allen mumbled, rising from the kitchen table and walking to the living room. Lavi sighed and tapped a pen to his cheek. He was glad he was helping Allen, but this sure was dull. A bit later he heard the faint voice of Allen and his unknown guest drift into the kitchen. Lavi strained his ear, listening intently for a moment. He of course, could make out Allen's voice but the other person spoke in a lower tone and it was difficult to hear.
"Oh you're here today? I thought you couldn't make it." He heard Allen say in surprise. Guess he wasn't expecting this person to show up. That's rude (says the person eavesdropping)... you should at least call to reaffirm-
"It's polite to greet someone before you-" Something or other... that's all Lavi could make out. Frustrated, the red head nearly got up and pressed an ear to the wall when suddenly the unknown guest's voice spoke loud and clear.
"Hello boy." The voice said in a confident tone. Lavi's eyes widened in response at the infuriatingly familiar tone of voice.
Now that I heard. It's not him is it? But then again, what other jackass says 'boy' after every sentence when talking to a someone their junior? Lavi hoped it wasn't who he thought it was, no matter how obvious it seemed.
"Well you can still tutor me if you like." He heard Allen say, each word like a crescendo, gradually getting louder as he and his guest moved closer to the kitchen. Before he knew it, Lavi's heart beat started pumping rapidly. He had hoped he'd never have to see that idiot again. It was his fault in the first place that his years as a Bookman in training were painfully unpleasant. It was his fault that Lavi acted the way he did today. It was his fault that-
"Lavi? You okay? You don't look too good." He heard Allen's voice flood his ears and he looked up in a daze, not realizing that he'd also see the 'unknown guest'. Him and Lavi instantly locked eyes. Emerald set on a dazzling gold.
"Tyki Mikk." Lavi stated the name like it was in dripping poison.
Tyki's eyes widened in mock surprise and he grinned lazily, "Bookman Jr. How pleasant~"
Allen's eyebrows knitted together in confusion as he stared at the two adult males, one glaring, and one basically laughing with his eyes.
"You two... know each other?" Allen asked incredulously as Tyki walked over to the still glaring Lavi and sat down across from him, under the red head's piercing glare.
"You could say that." Tyki responded, amused at the puzzled expression on the teen's face. Oh how he loved that~ Lavi didn't even dignify that with a response, he just sat there with his eyes narrowed like he was ready to punch him in the face. Allen was beyond confused at the moment. Lavi acted as if Tyki sacrificed his first born son to Satan, while Tyki on the other hand was all smiles. Allen swallowed thickly and took the only free seat, smack dab in the middle of the two. Lavi was fuming, but by the looks of it, his poisonous glares were starting to die down. However, Allen could practically feel the crackling of electricity between them. The tension was so thick you could slice it with a butter knife. To top it all off, there was absolute silence and to be honest, Allen was starting to feel awkward. The white haired boy fidgeted a bit in his chair and cleared his throat, figuring it might cause a rift in the quiet suspense of the atmosphere.
"I said WE were having a study date, so why is HE here?" Lavi stated bitterly to no one in particular, though it was obviously directed at the foreign man who's smirk deepened in response.
Fearing that the uncomfortable silence would return, Allen quickly responded. "Uhm... I needed help in history too, so Mr. Mikk would be the best choice considering he's my history teacher. So um... can we please start working again?"
"Of course, oh, but I didn't bring any books with me. I'll just have to rely on my brain~" A loud thud sounded as Lavi's fist hit the table, causing Allen to jump.
"Stop treating everything as if it's not important." The red head declared seriously, his eyes shifting to the chocolate brown haired man across from him. Allen couldn't help but groan. I'll never get any work done at this rate! This was a major bitchfest and Allen just introduced the two challengers. He stared candidly at Lavi who was waiting expectantly for a response from Tyki. Tyki just shrugged, getting up from his chair and walking to the kitchen's exit.
"Oh that's right, I expected us to be alone today. Too bad. Maybe I'll drop by another time, boy." He announced, completely ignoring Lavi's question. Okay, Tyki was seriously toying with Lavi at this point and Lavi was letting his anger get the best of him. Allen watched warily as Tyki Mikk walked out the door, the suspense leaving with him. When the door creaked shut is when Lavi cooled his jets and sat down. He sighed angrily and took a deep breath, before speaking out loud.
"I can't believe you invited him... it was suppose to be our study session, Allen!" Lavi declared irritably. Allen didn't know what occurred between the two, but Lavi was really overreacting.
"Quit being childish, Lavi. It really wasn't that big a deal." Allen assessed.
"No. You don't know the whole story Allen, so don't act like you do." Lavi replied darkly, and Allen could've sworn the temperature in the room dropped a few degrees. He'd never heard Lavi use such a cold and harsh tone with him. Lavi Bookman. The usually cheerful, mischievous red-head.
"At least he was trying to get along with you, you're the one who turned it into a bitching contest." Allen replied, he was seriously getting tired of this attitude.
"Fine. Then have him tutor you in English, cause I'm so over it."
A/N- Umm I think I made Lavi what one who call 'ooc-ish' or whatever XD I don't think he'd act like that, but then again herm... I dunno Lavi can be serious and stuff right? O_O
