Are you ready to find out who is crazy enough to mess with the Outlaw Queen family?

Disclaimer: Not my characters.

"David, look at this!" Emma called her father over to the tree by Henry's window. "The bark is chipped." The prince ran delicate fingers across the damage and looked around the surrounding ground. He knelt down and waved his hands through the grass, as if he were trying to find something. "Here," Charming pointed at where the grass was bent and folded into the underlying dirt. "There are two fresh dips in the ground. Look at the distance between them and the wall of the house. If I had to lay pay, I'd say that they were made from a ladder. It looks like there are scuffs right under his windowsill."

Emma looked up to her son's window, "Had to have been a very long ladder. How did he or she get it over here without being detected?" David let his eyes scan over the yard and spotted a neighbor's shed, "I don't know, but if there is a ladder in there, it would definitely explain it."

The two made their way over to the neighbor's front door and knocked. Emma was surprised to find out that Regina's neighbor was Dr. Whale when he answered the door, "Anything I can do in particular for the Charmings today?" David took in a deep breath as Emma placed her hand on his arm to calm him. Whale still wasn't one of his favorite people after finding out about what his cursed self did to his wife. "As a matter of fact, you can open up your shed for us. We are investigating an attempted murder and we have reason to believe you may have a ladder in there."

Whale scoffed, "Of course I have a ladder in there, you dolt. It's a shed." He ran a hand through his blonde locks, "Though, I don't know why my ladder has anything to do with an attempted murder. I keep it locked and I haven't even been in there since before the first curse broke." Emma sighed, "Never the less, we need to take a look."

From her son's window, Regina watched as her friends made their way to Whale's shed with said doctor leading them. It had only been a day since she had almost lost her boys, and her anger just seemed to keep building the more she thought about it. "You're going to give yourself wrinkles," she relaxed her face as she felt two strong arms wrap around her middle with a soft kiss to her neck. "We are going to figure this out soon enough."

The mayor rested her head back on Robin's shoulder, "But what if we can't and the boys or even you get hurt in the meantime? I don't know if I could handle that." The thief turned her in his arms, "Hey, don't think like that. I have no doubt in my mind that we will bring this fool to justice before he or she harms anyone." He looked out the window, "Look," he turned her back around, "It looks as though they've found something of interest in there." Regina looked at the shed and saw David pulling a ladder out of it and walking it over toward the mansion.

"Let's see if this fits the markings. If it is the ladder that the culprit used, the legs will fit perfectly in the dents in the ground and line up with the scuffs under the windowsill." Emma grabbed the opposite end of the ladder from her father and proceeded to extend it to its full length before lining up the markings. "Well, would you look at that? The shoe fits."

Regina lifted the window and leaned over, "Is that what they used to get in?" David looked up at her, "That's what it looks like. The lock on Whale's shed was clipped, so I'm assuming that he or she clipped the lock, borrowed the ladder, and then returned the ladder when they were done planting the snakes." Emma put gloves on and started to climb up the ladder. "Did you find anything in his room?"

Regina looked back over her shoulder at the outlaw. "Not as of yet," Robin returned to his thorough search of the room. When she turned her head back to the window, she almost knocked Emma off the ladder, but grabbed her by the arm just in time. "Whoa!" Regina gasped, "Damnit, Emma. Could you not have made a sound to make me aware of your proximity?"

"Sorry, I'll announce my exact location from now on." Emma huffed out as she clung for dear life to the windowsill. The queen rolled her eyes and sighed, "I'm sorry. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm-"

"That bastard!" Robin's accented voice cut through the room. Both women turned to him and saw that he was holding a handkerchief in his hand and inspecting it. Regina made her way over to him as Emma climbed through the window, "What is it, dear?"

Robin tightened his hold on the piece of fabric that he'd found just under Henry's bed, "I would know this handkerchief anywhere. This belongs to William Brewer." He looked up from the offending cloth, "The Sheriff of Nottingham."

Emma called down to David and told him to come up. "What has he against us?" Regina asked him. "It's not against us, love. What he is vengeful for is my past relationship with Marian. Ever since we got together, the sheriff has made it his mission to capture me and have me hanged. He was very much fond of her and was jealous of me."

"But she's gone. Why would he still be after you? You've moved on," Emma chimed in. He sighed, "I haven't the faintest, but I can tell you this: This man is no man at all. He is a coward and this is the last straw. You may mess with me all you want, but you will not threaten my family."

"No worries, Dear. His second mistake was leaving his belonging here. I can cast a location spell on it." Regina took it from Robin's hand and held it out in front of her. "And what was his first mistake?" David called from the window. Her hand began to glow over the handkerchief, "Ever going near my boys."

"We're playing Twister, we will be fine." Snow hung up her phone and was thankful they had found out who the man was.

"What did Gramps want?" Henry asked from the game mat. She laughed as she made her way back over to it, "Just how did you guess it was your grandfather?" Henry rolled his eyes, "You know that look Emma gets when she talks about Killian? Well, that is literally the same exact face you pull when you talk to him. Your eyes are practically shut from the smile on your face, it seems like the entire world brightens, and you giggle a lot. I mean like… you are identical to one another." She pulled her grandson into a tight hug, "Very observant, aren't you? He was just checking on us." Roland felt left out, so he squeezed his face in between them and wrapped his little arms around their bodies as far as they would reach. "Alright, whose turn is it to spin?" Roland jumped up and down with his arm raised above his head, "It's mine!"

The small group consisting of a queen, a thief, a prince, and a princess followed the glowing piece of cloth in a soft jog. "The docks? Really?" Emma huffed. "We should just rename them 'Place Where Bad Things Happen'."

Regina actually laughed at that, "Perhaps I'll bring it up at our next town meeting. Come on, it's going to the boathouse." Robin pushed through the doors quietly and suddenly stopped dead in his treks, making Regina and the rest slam into him. "What is it? Why did you stop?" Regina whispered. When she noticed his head was tilted back, she followed his gaze above them. There were large iron spikes hanging by a rope connected to a trip wire right in front of Robin's left foot.

David noticed that the handkerchief stopped moving and landed on top of a pile of what looked like sawdust on a table. Carefully, he stepped over the wire with his sword drawn. Regina followed close behind him and upon arriving at the dust; she picked it up between two fingers and rubbed it. "He's not here." Emma and Robin stayed put, "What do you mean? The locator spell brought us here, so he should be here, right?"

The mayor looked at Emma, "Yes. That is, if he didn't anticipate a locator spell being used and he didn't use an enchanted sawdust with his DNA scraped into it." Robin scrubbed his face with his hands, "He wasn't this smart in years past."

David sheathed his sword, "Well maybe he's getting help." Regina threw the table across the boathouse with her magic. "Don't worry, Regina. Let Emma and me look more tonight. You and Robin go spend time with the kids."

"He's right, Love." Robin pulled her to his chest and rubbed circles on her back. "Let's go get the boys and have dinner and watch a movie. They can sleep with us until we find him." Regina nodded and took a deep breath before letting him lead her out of the place where bad things happen.

The evening sun shone in his eyes as the notorious Sheriff of Nottingham descended the steps of Storybrooke's junior high school, a wicked grin amongst his sharp features.
