Allen woke up feeling like someone froze his insides and then microwaved them.

"Ow...my head..." He groaned and struggled to push himself upright. He cracked one eye open, only to shut it immediately because of the blinding sunlight that streamed into the room. Eyes now closed, he attempted to recall what had happened last night and what could have possibly brought on this massive headache. After a momentary silence, an annoyed sigh escaped Allen's lips.

...No luck. There was a blank whenever he'd try to remember. He was now starting to panic. He had never had memory loss before so he had no idea how to deal with it.

His eyes shot open, disregarding the burning sunlight. He blinked a few times to clear his vision then looked around and saw that he was at home in his bedroom. What happened last night? I don't even remember getting ho- His thoughts cut off when suddenly his head throbbed intensely. Clutching his forehead to ease the pain, he once again tried to scour his mind for an answer. C'mon, what happened? The last thing he could remember was himself slipping into unconsciousness. His stomach turned and protested violently, initiating a wave of sickness. He acted fast, wobbling unsteadily as he got up and retreated to the bathroom where he threw up his stomach's contents immediately. Not a very good start to the morning...

He took a few shaky breaths as he remained hunched over the toilet, his head still pulsing along with his heartbeat. After a few seconds his breathing patterns returned to normal and he wiped his mouth with the back of his palm, grimacing into the porcelain bowl.

He had never felt so sick in his life.

After a thorough teeth brushing and lots of mouth wash, Allen padded into the kitchen looking and feeling a bit better after washing his face. Note to self: never drink again. He reminded himself in his mind, realizing that this must be what Cross calls a hangover. He rubbed the back of his head and opened the refrigerator as he focused on getting something in his stomach before anything else. He glanced around inside the fridge, grabbing a carton of orange juice and walking into the kitchen. Reaching into the cupboard, he pulled down a glass and filled it with the orange liquid. He began to drink, downing the juice as if it were the antidote to a poison. The cool liquid quenched his dry throat, and Allen relished in the sensation after waking up feeling like a bird had used his mouth as a nest.

He set the glass of orange juice down again and let out a contented sigh. Despite the heavenly taste of the juice, it did nothing to stop his pounding head ache. He refilled his glass, mumbling a string of curses under his breath. Thinking back, Allen had read about symptoms like this before. It was a common thing to have headaches and a dry throat during a hangover, and while Allen had forgotten the events of last night...he had remembered going to Tyki's shady party. It was no surprise that he woke up feeling like crap, he had probably drank a ton last night.

"Dammit. There's a special place in hell for whoever invented alcohol...how does Master drink this stuff all the time?" He wondered as he paced the kitchen floor.

"Hey. Apprentice." Said man called out from the living room. Allen knitted his eyebrows, confused as to why Cross was here so early. He usually comes and goes randomly...he's hardly ever here in the mornings... Allen remembered when he was still young and naive and had the gall to ask Cross about his mysterious morning absences. It was when Allen had just started living with Cross and had frightening reoccurring nightmares. Seeking refuge with his new "guardian" Allen had questioned his master. The man may or may not have been drunk because he just responded with a few incomprehensible words and mumbled something about it 'being too early to even exist right now.' Allen, only 10 years old at the time just left it at that and learned to disregard Cross and his odd behaviors. Shaking his head, the teen grabbed his cup and walked towards his master's voice, drinking the juice as he entered the living room.

"Yes maste-" Allen's eyes widened and he choked on the juice he was drinking. After a series of coughs and gasps, the teen made his way over to the couch, where Cross was sitting and holding a silver flask to his lips. Allen didn't even question why the man was up drinking alcohol at God-knows-what time it is in the morning, this was actually really normal. The surprising thing, and what startled Allen most was the napping red-head who was splayed out on the couch, his limbs askew and his lips curled up in a sleepy smile.

"What's he doing here?" Cross asked, turning his head to face Allen and tuning out the soft breathing from Lavi's sleeping form. The red-head muttered something in his sleep and tossed around a bit, finally settling on folding his arms on his chest. Allen could only gape at him for a second as beads of sweat clung to his forehead. His lips were puckered in an 'o' shape and he probably looked like a surprised fish right now.

"I-I dunno..." Allen admitted truthfully as he bit his bottom lip. He had no recollection of what happened last night, though looking at Lavi's disheveled appearance, he had a pretty good idea. He suspected that Lavi was the person who had drove him home last night, then crashed on the couch because he was probably as buzzed as he was. Another confusion inducing concept was the fact that they hadn't been on the best of terms during Tyki's party. So why would Lavi do such a thing? Cross shifted his eye to Allen in an incredulous stare, then suddenly got up and made his way to the door, tucking his silvery flask of alcohol away in his coat pocket.

"I'll be back soon." The elder of the two stated. Allen looked up from the still dozing Lavi at Cross. "Didn't you just get here?" He deadpanned, yet still held a bit of curiosity in his voice. "Mmmmn." Cross hummed in response as he pulled open the front door. "I've got some business to take care of. You actually... might not see me for a while...take care of yourself idiot apprentice." With that, Cross walked out and Allen watched from the window as he started his car and took off. Was that...genuine concern in his master's voice? Allen didn't expect to hear that unless he was sick or dying, and even then not in such a generous amount. Allen scrambled to the small window ledge and followed what he could still see of his master's car with his eyes, until it was just a dot on the horizon. When it had disappeared from view, he then ran a hand through his tousled white hair.

Why did that sound... like a good-bye?

Lavi opened his eyes to a pair of nervous grey ones staring down at him from above. What the-!? A loud gasp escaped the English teacher's lips as he quickly shot up with a start, knocking heads with the startled person who had been hovering above him.

"Ow!" The person shouted and sat up, rubbing their forehead petulantly. Lavi lifted his gaze to identify the one he had just head-butted, letting out a sigh of relief to realize that it was just Allen. Wait...Allen? Why was I- Lavi took a second to scan his surroundings, setting his mouth in a frown when he realized where he was. How did I end up at Allen's house? He quickly spotted his car keys on the small coffee table in the middle of the room and grimaced. Crap. I-I drove home last night? As he was about to get up to make sure his car was still in one piece (I mean with the way Lavi drives, so would I...), he felt something buzz against his leg. He grumbled as he patted his pants pockets and pulled out his phone.

He could practically feel the impending headache. Why was he such a light-weight when it came to alcohol?

Glancing at his phone screen, he cringed a bit at the numerous text messages and phone calls he had received while he was asleep. Four from Lenalee, one from Komui, and two from Bookman.

He was so screwed.

"Not even gonna say sorry for almost giving me brain damage?" Allen muttered sulkily from his spot on the couch where he had been kneeling and nursing his forehead. He had been about to go feed Timcanpy, but settled on just watching Lavi frantically fumble around and try to get his life back in order. Said teacher squinted back in Allen's direction with dazed and pained eyes. "What? I don't even..." The headache had arrived, and it was at full throttle. He couldn't even form proper sentences.

"Ughh." The red-head groaned and massaged his temples. "I lost my train of thought." Allen watched Lavi sympathetically and sighed. "You too huh? I've never even touched a drop of alcohol before last night."

"No kidding?"

"True story." Allen confirmed.

A light smirk made it's way to Lavi's lips, "That's good I guess, I mean you are still in high scho- ow, ow, ow!"

Lavi let out another pained whine before collapsing back on the couch. "I'm so out of it I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday." Allen half smiled as he watched the pain stricken look on Lavi's face, deciding he'd put aside their little feud for now...or at least until they were both sober and actually remembered the reason they were fighting.

"You're welcome to use the shower." Allen offered and grinned cheekily as he walked into the kitchen.

"Huh? Where are you going?" Lavi mumbled into his arms, as they were folded, with his head laid down upon them.

"Why to make breakfast of course~" Allen replied easily as he pulled out a frying pan and a few plates. Why am I not surprised? Lavi watched him with a dumbstruck expression, but after a while numbly got up and walked to the bathroom. He sighed and took out a few towels, already knowing where everything was after being here so often. He approached the shower, slipping off his clothes and climbing into the shower.

Sometimes I just cannot believe how stupid I can be.

Lavi banged his head against the wall of the shower repeatedly."Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Goddamn." He cursed over and over and wouldn't stop until his head protested violently at his physical abuse. When he felt that he had done enough damage to himself for one day, he stopped and rubbed his head wearily, wincing as he ran his fingers over the sore surface. A trail of scarlet red washed over his hand, only to dissolve into the water streaming down his body. He watched listlessly as the red flowed down the drain and exhaled shakily.

He was suppose to be cutting Allen out of his life, WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING KISSING HIM!?

"Damn." He grit his teeth. He didn't know what had come over him. It's just, at that moment in the driveway...Allen looked so weak and vulnerable, despite the rebellious front the boy had tried to put up. When had he become so impetuous? Acting on the spur of the moment? That wasn't him. His whole life he had been a quiet observer, noting things in life just as Bookman had taught him.

With a sigh, Lavi cupped the palm of his hand to his once again throbbing forehead. It was bleeding again...though his bandanna would cover the bruise anyway. He decided to dismiss his previous actions, playing it off as just one moment when he had become rash, and acted on his instinct.

Still! That doesn't make it okay! You know what. I'm thinking too much into it. I'm tired of all this, I think i'm just going to let it go. If Allen is still upset after I apologize...?

Then I guess I'll just apologize again and again...Man why do I care so much about this anywa-? GREAT NOW I'M TALKING TO MYSELF.

With a few grumbles, Lavi exited the shower and got dressed, hoping for a decent conversation with someone that wasn't his own subconscious...

Lavi and Allen sat in silence at the kitchen table, enjoying a delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon. It wasn't a harsh silence in which they both showed hostility towards each other, it was peaceful and calm. Lavi chose this moment to cast a glance at Allen, surprised to see him halfheartedly poking at his food. With his cheek in his palm, the boy let out a pitiful sigh. He didn't have an appetite for some reason, so he didn't feel like eating much of anything. He was just...I dunno...not hungry?

Something was definitely wrong.

Indeed his hangover had subsided, but something else was weighing on Allen's mind. In fact it had been weighing on his mind like a plague for the past few weeks. And now, he was prepared to confront Lavi about it.

"Lavi?" Allen asked, facing the red-head who had been about to shovel some scrambled eggs into his mouth.

"...Hmm?" Lavi hummed in response as he stopped his fork in midair. He doesn't appear to be mad...maybe I don't have to apologize after all.

"Can you tell me what happened between you and Tyki?"

Lavi groaned and slowly put his fork back down on his plate, then glanced back at the young teen who was currently giving him big, shiny, puppy dog eyes.

Dammit all.

He sighed, knowing full well that there was no smooth-talking his way out of this. Scratching the back of his head, he turned to face Allen with an eyebrow raised. They JUST ate breakfast! Can't a guy finish his pancakes and bacon in peace?

"Can you wait until I recover from this hangover? I feel like someone just punched me in the face..." Lavi pleaded. Plus I did almost give myself half a concussion in the shower just now...hahah...

"No! Tell me now...please?" Allen asked firmly, lightening his tone at the end to sound polite. "...Fine." He acquiesced as he took one last look at his remaining breakfast.

Somehow he knew that he wouldn't be so hungry after this...
