Allen wandered around the lonely house, hunting for his school bag which had somehow become lost. He checked under the table, frowning as he came up empty before continuing to stumble around in search of it. He sighed after a while and checked his watch which indicated that he had school in about fifteen minutes. As much as he hated to admit it, he actually missed Cross.
Or he at least missed having someone besides his shadow hanging around. He hated being alone.
Even though the enigmatic red haired man said very little to him sometimes and basically just seemed to drink and smoke excessively...it didn't mean Allen didn't enjoy his master's company.
I wonder where he went? He always disappears for whatever amount of time whenever he feels like it. He throws caution to the wind like it's garbage. Allen sighed in frustration and rubbed the back of his head, finally discovering his backpack behind the closet door. He then slung it over his shoulder, grabbed his keys and departed for his inevitably long school day.
"Hmmm..." Leverrier hummed as he scanned the bored and tired faces of the classroom. It was the last period of the day and the little brats in the classroom were about as responsive as a brick wall. Though his lips quirked up in a smile as he knew just who to pick for his next question! He had grown to be his 'favorite' these past few weeks. His gaze settled on a mop of white hair and a young Allen Walker who was dozing off with half lidded eyes.
"Walker!"
The boy snapped awake, throwing off a few papers on his desk in the process and invoking snide giggles from the class. Allen blushed crimson, and made eye contact with Leverrier.
"Y-Yes?" He replied, trying to make as little eye contact as possible.
"In what year did the Roman empire fall?"
*silence*
"Uh..." Allen mumbled as he wracked his brain for some semblance of an answer. He knew this. It was on the tip of his tongue, just barely escaping his grasp. However, the answer was eluding him, and to be honest he was one of those people who didn't do so well under pressure.
"I...um...pass?" Was his response, a sigh escaping his lips afterward knowing full well how foolish he sounded.
A wicked smile graced Leverrier's face and he cooed, "Rome fell in the year 476 C.E. I advise you to pay attention Mr. Walker, from what i've seen your hair color is brighter than your future."
This induced thunderous laughter from the class, and Allen to slowly wither and sink into his seat, wishing that it could instead be a bottomless pit. Once class was over and students had free time for their lunch period, Allen tiredly shouldered his bag, a grim smile set on his face as he left. That guy has it out for me I SWEAR! Allen thought irritably and slowed his pace to a halt when he heard laughter behind him.
"You really didn't know that, Moyashi? That was like the first thing we learned in his class!" A voice Allen now recognized as Kanda asked incredulously. Allen spun around with a glare, a deep red blush staining his cheeks, "I KNEW THE ANSWER! I JUST-" He cut himself off with a sigh.
"-Forgot." He continued and tore his gaze away from Kanda's amused expression.
"Yeah...that's called not knowing, beansprout."
"Shut up! You don't even care about school, Kanda!'
"You're right I don't, most of the time it doesn't even matter. It's not important. Plus it's boring!"
"That's not true and you know it! Being in school helps me to do plenty of fun and important things!" Allen responded crossly, placing his hands on his hips.
"Oh really? What fun and important place are you headed to right now?"
"...Home to feed my pet bird."
"WELL STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES, Allen Walker is going to his dull home to feed his pet bird with a biting fetish." Kanda stated sarcastically, an arrogant grin set on his face.
"Agh. You make my brain hurt, i'm leaving." Allen stated irritably and whipped around, beginning to walk down the hallway. As he walked, he heard Kanda's footsteps get quieter so he must have went to eat lunch in the opposite direction...most likely to sit and gawk at Lenalee. When he reached the end of the hallway, the young teen pouted, I just hate that smug look on his face...reminds me of someone...hmmm...
"Hello, boy."
Yup. Him. Allen just recently discovered his power to just think of someone and have them appear. Pfft. As if. He just had really, really, really, bad luck.
"I was in the main office when I heard your sarcasm filled voice, then I thought, "hmmm, i'd love to hold a conversation with him right now." Tyki flashed a dazzling smile.
Oh God not now.
Allen turned to face the sly man. After Lavi's little back story on him, it was as if he saw Tyki as a villain...and to be honest he did kind of fit the description. He stared into the amused man's golden eyes and tried his best not to throw up. Not because of Lavi's story about him and not because of Tyki in general, but because the last time he saw him was at the party and... well... you know what happened there. Just being near Tyki initiated the nauseating feeling of the alcohol in his system and the violating touches from the twins. Allen shivered, though Tyki didn't seem to notice and just drew closer to the boy.
"Thank you for the lovely set of silverware you gave me~" Tyki grinned and brushed a cocoa brown curl from his face.
"..." Allen went silent, a perplexed look on his face. Tyki smiled obliviously at the teen's odd behavior, passing it off as modesty. "Oh come on... don't be embarrassed, it was a generous gift-
"...What I got you was a gift basket...full of bath towels and cologne."
Tyki's eyes widened slightly, "huh...? Oh! Silly me, there were so many lovely gifts that night I...err." The man sighed, clenching his fists tightly. "...Dammit...I screwed up my second chance didn't I?" He mumbled softly under his breath.
"Um... I'm gonna go..." Allen excused himself and scampered off, utterly confused as to whatever Tyki was talking about. Although, he didn't really feel like doing anything right now, his motivation for life was just gone. When he finally dragged himself home, he'd probably just forget the world for a while. Eat and sleep, feed Tim, and completely neglect his homework.
Just one of those lazy days.
The white haired teen walked down the steps of Black Order High, running through his checklist. Go home, Feed Timcanpy, call Cross for the UMPTEENTH time- Ugh! Allen groaned in frustration when he realized that he still had a shift at the convenience store today. Dammit! He could shrug off school work but work pays the bills! He still had to eat after all...great. As if reminding him of this fact, Allen's stomach grumbled loudly, making the frustrated teen sigh.
Allen reversed his direction and crossed the street that the convenience store was on, deciding that maybe he could use his lunch period to squeeze in an hour of work instead. The small teen sauntered into the familiar store, waving tiredly in Krory's general direction. The older male scrunched his face up in confusion at his younger co-worker, watching as the teen weakly tied the light blue apron that was his uniform over his school clothes.
"Allen? You don't look so good." Krory stated with a concerned tone from behind the cash register.
"I'm fine, thanks Krory." Allen responded politely and forced a smile even though he definitely wasn't in the mood to deal with the troublesome customers that always seemed to find their way to the store. Krory watched almost passively as Allen lifted the bar that separated the cashier side from the aisles and rested his fatigued body against the counter.
"Well, actually I- um..." Krory began, seeming a bit nervous at first but straightened out upon the completion of his sentence. "What are you doing here...when you aren't scheduled to work for another two hours? Besides...Allen aren't you still in school right now?"
An audible sigh came from the younger of the two males before he placed a hand over his stomach, "Yes...but i'm using my lunch break to get a little bit of extra time in at the store."
Krory immediately froze before apparently thawing and approaching the younger with absolute caution, as if he would break and shatter like glass. "No, no, no, no! Allen that's no good! You can't skip lunch or you won't have energy for the rest of your school day!" The vampire-like man explained with a troubled expression. Allen tensed up a bit and tried his best to offer a smile that showed no signs of weariness...though he was betrayed by his stomach when it emitted a low guttural growl.
"Agh! See, you're hungry! Shoo, shoo go on and eat!" Krory stated firmly, an uncharacteristically determined expression on the usually timid man's face as he removed Allen's apron.
"But Krory-" Allen tried to reason, only getting a steely look from his elder. Seeing as he couldn't possibly win this round, Allen sighed and clocked out, grabbing his bag and departing from the store with his head hung low. Allen suddenly felt utterly depressed as he normally did when he didn't have anything productive to do. He hadn't even packed a lunch today as he didn't have enough time to prepare something this morning. The young teen sighed and leaned against the front store window of the convenience store.
"This sucks..." He mumbled under his breath, kicking a discarded coke can that had been nearby.
"Allen?" A vibrant but also slightly confused voice called from a short distance away. Allen slightly raised his head, his eyes wide.
"Lavi? What are you doing here..." The snowy haired teen queried, visibly relaxing from his startled expression. Lavi smiled and jutted a thumb out in the direction of the store. "Well what do you think i'm here for Allen? To go to the store, duh."
Allen pouted a bit."No need to have an attitude." Lavi's smile widened and he approached the small teen, lifting his wrist in mock princely charm. "Oh but my fair lady, I wouldn't dream of it."
"Gross, ew." Allen laughed, snatching his arm away and pushing the older male lightly on the arm. Lavi chuckled to himself, facing Allen confidently. "So why are you here looking all gloomy? I'm pretty sure Krory wouldn't have you working here during school hours...even if it is lunch time."
Allen twitched, his hand rising to rub the back of his head. "Uh...i'm just doing some extra work for him today." He lied through his teeth, watching nervously as Lavi seemed to ponder this.
Finally the red haired male responded, "I hardly think that's fair, you work here five days a week for seven hours, correct?" Lavi assessed smartly and began walking towards the entrance to the store. "I'm gonna ask Krory to let you off the hook this time..." Allen's silvery eyes widened in dismay and he grabbed onto Lavi's waist, pulling him away from the store.
"Lavi! No! Um, there's no need to do that!" Allen panicked, stiffening when he felt the older male stop moving. "Lavi?" Allen asked nervously, wondering why he had just suddenly froze. The white haired male felt his hair stand on end when Lavi's emerald green eyes shifted towards him suspiciously.
"Allen~?" The red head stated in a sugary sweet tone, turning around suddenly to face the younger male. "You wouldn't happen to be lying to me would you?"
Allen was literally sweating bullets.
"N-No..." The whitette averted his gaze, finding the ground much more interesting all of a sudden. Lavi deadpanned, an unconvinced expression on his face.
"Hey Krory! Is Allen working right now?!" He called from outside. Allen yelped and removed his arms from Lavi's waist, backing away slowly. It went deathly silent for a few moments before Lavi's phone began to ring, playing 'call me maybe.' Allen scowled at his choice of music, "Really?" Lavi sent him a saccharine smile, "I wouldn't sass me right now. Besides, I wasn't the one who put that as my ringtone, i'm just too lazy to change it..." he stated as he put the phone to his ear.
Allen crossed his arms, then who did? He thought suspiciously.
"Thanks Krory, i'll make sure he's taken care of~" Lavi said in a sharp tone, tapping the end button with his thumb and whirling around to Allen. The silvery haired teen was already turned around and attempting to creep away. At the moment he was wondering when Lavi and Krory had even found time to exchange numbers. Lavi, being utterly ticked off at being lied to, placed a hand on Allen's shoulder.
"Hey beansprout, let's have a nice long chat over lunch~!"
"No-no-no-no I didn't mean to-! Wait...that...that sounds pretty nice actually."
"Oh, that reminds me! This one time I was trying to prove to this kid that I had really changed, I panicked and was about to run away though! Tell me why, In the process of escaping I accidentally bumped into my guidance counselor, making him fall down a flight of stairs!" Lavi explained as he browsed the menu for the tenth time since they got to the restaurant.
"You, wha-!?" Allen choked on a forkful of pasta and quickly grabbed his soda, downing it so fast he almost swallowed the straw.
Lavi himself began to chuckle, remembering the flabbergasted look on the guidance counselor's face. "After that, the kid I was trying to impress was convinced that I was some kind of bad ass!"
Allen coughed a bit, looking up distractedly, "How do you always get into so much trouble?" Lavi smiled and tried to hold back the laugh that was threatening to burst out. "Allen, you're like the definition of trouble! By the way I don't think filling your cheeks with soda is a good thing...you look like a constipated walrus..."
When Allen had swallowed his drink, he quickly threw a glare at Lavi, "I'm gonna ignore that! But I'm curious about what happened with the guidance counselor afterwards."
Lavi couldn't hold it back and chuckled a bit, shrugging his shoulders, "I got bashed...she thought I was a delinquent!"
Allen laughed at the idea of Lavi making his guidance counselor fall by accident, then getting in trouble for it because of his reputation. He thought back to all of the stories of his past that Lavi had told him, realizing that he had a lot of these memories stockpiled. It was then that a thought suddenly crossed his mind, making Allen look at the red head blankly and tilt his head. Telling me stories from your past...? Is that something that a teacher does with his student? Not really. It seemed to Allen like it was something friends or a couple in love would do...but maybe he was just naive.
Allen had turned away when he realized that he was staring, though he still dared another glance at Lavi who was happily texting on his phone, his green eye bright and welcoming. Allen blushed a bit, feeling awkward for staring at him so often. Doing this brought up a question that he often thought about at night.
Did Lavi like him...even just slightly?
As if sensing his thoughts, Lavi looked up from his phone when he heard Allen go silent and his eyes rested on the gray eyed boy in front of him. Lavi's gaze randomly fell upon the crimson star pentacle that adorned the boy's forehead, and he had to wonder...how did he get that scar anyway? Just another mystery of Allen Walker. I wonder if Cross knows anything...should I even ask him or is that out of place? Lavi wondered, running a hand through his hair and eventually returning to his phone.
A few seconds later he heard the chair in front of him creak and he looked up.
"Bathroom..." Allen explained, and walked away.
Lavi watched him go, then placed his cheek in his palm and looked at Allen's side of the table. He had eaten all his food (no surprise there). Lavi cracked a smile. He had never met anyone with such a monstrous appetite before. He glanced down at his own plate which was mostly finished and then grabbed his drink, shaking it and frowning when he found only large chunks of ice.
"Aww man..." Lavi grumbled. He threw a glance over at the line for the cash register, which stretched out so long that people were lining up from outside the front doors.
What the hell!? Since when did this place become so crowded? It wasn't nearly as populated as it was forty minutes ago. Lavi glanced back at his phone to check the time.
12:49
Shit, it's getting late... Lavi grimaced. No way am I going back on that line though, just not for only a drink at least...
This brought Lavi's attention back to Allen's side of the booth where his licked clean plate and plastic cup of soda sat. He grabbed Allen's drink, swishing it around a bit, happy to find that half of it was still intact.
He took a few sips, it was a bit watery and diluted from the ice but still drinkable. He began to text again, this time it was Bookman wondering if he would visit him for some trip he had planned. Lavi scowled down at this for a while...he hadn't told him about any trip. Uggh...now i'll have to use my vacation days up on some stupid, boring, study trip. At least that's what usually was the case when the Old Panda wanted to take him anywhere.
It was then that Allen returned, shocked to see Lavi blatantly drinking his soda, and with a troubled expression no doubt as if it was his drink that had been stolen.
"Hey-!" For sure, Allen was about to tell him off. However, he stopped when he noticed Lavi's lips still lingered on the tip of the straw. Allen blushed, realizing his had been there only moments before. Lavi looked up when Allen had called out to him and tilted his head confusedly, "What?"
Allen blushed a cherry red, then gestured to his drink, then to Lavi, he repeated this in quick succession until he kinda looked like he was tap dancing with out any feet movement. Lavi laughed and handed the cup to him, "Oh, here I ran out of soda." Allen shook his head when he offered the drink. It wasn't the fact that he took it...it was the fact that...they indirectly kissed.
So? He's kissed you before hasn't he Allen? When you were at Tyki's party. That little nagging voice in his head sneered.
It was right however, they had kissed. But he didn't really remember it. He only recalled the smooth sensation of Lavi's lips on his own before he blacked out. That's it. No touching. No passionate make-out session. No nothing. The universe was a cheapskate sometimes!
"Oh crap lunch time is over, we have to get you back to school!"
Allen nodded in a daze and collected his things, moving robotically to throw out trash and push in his chair. He followed after Lavi and got in the car...then...he didn't know what came over him but, he tugged Lavi's white sleeve of his button-down shirt as the red head settled to turn his keys in the ignition.
Lavi turned his head and looked at Allen confusedly, "Yes?" He asked blankly, as if they weren't pressed for time.
Allen shook his head, his cheeks staining a deep red color before looking up at Lavi anxiously.
"Um...c-can you...kiss me again?"
A/N Once again, I know...I took a really, really, REALLY long time to-
Allen: Please don't go into that again, quite frankly...the readers don't care.
Me: SHUT UP! I can dream can't I? Q_Q T_T D:
