CHAPTER 4

AMU'S P.O.V.

I couldn't stop thinking about yesterday. I just couldn't believe it! The mere thought of it seems so ridiculous, I would have never believed it happened if I wasn't there myself. I still can't believe it, actually. The idea of there being another cat demon out there - and for them to be someone I know - is just completely insane. I sighed as I sat up from my place on my bed and made my way over to the large vanity mirror next to my dresser, taking off my hat in the process.

I stared at my reflection, taking in every detail. I normally want nothing more than to just forget what I am; Pretend I'm a vampire, but today I just think it's time I take a good look at myself. Shoulder length pink hair, large soft-looking ears, large golden eyes with slit irises. I took note of all of my cat-like features. All the things that people have learned to hate. Spells, potions, charms; I've tried them all. Anything to hide what I am. Nothing is permanent though. Nothing can hide the fact that I'm what every sane creature hates most: a cat demon.

Turning away from the mirror, I grabbed my jacket and stalked out of my room. Today was Saturday, so I decided I'd go for a walk around the town to clear my head. Maybe I can go see if the potions shop down town has anything new. I've been waiting for them to get a new mood reflecting eye drops called 'Mood drops' that came out a few months ago. It changes eye color depending on your mood. Red is passionate, blue is happy, Orange is impatient - a color I wouldn't be surprised if I got often - and black is angry.

Stopping in front of the door, I grabbed my combat boots and slipped them on and grabbed my purse on the table next to the Door. "I'm heading out!" I shouted, turning to open the door. "BRING ME BACK SOME DEODORANT!" I heard Kukai shout as I closed the door. 'Yes Nii-San. Announce to all of Seiyo how you smell like a wet dog, As if we can't smell it already!' I thought to myself as I walked down the sidewalk. 'And he wonders why he doesn't have a girlfriend...' sighing, I turned onto MCClintock Drive and was meet with rows of small shops. Immediately spotting the potion shop, I made a beeline to the front entrance, excitement bubbling up in my chest.

'Please have Mood drops! Please Please have Mood Drops!' I silently pleaded in my head, entering the small shop. "Amu-Chan!" Called a voice from to right of me. I turned and saw a short blonde standing behind the counter his hair was cut short with long bangs framing his face, and his skin was faintly sparkly. He had large light red eyes. The biggest thing that stuck out about him though had to be his small and almost translucent pixie wings. He smiled - probably because there's finally someone for him to talk to I guessed, looking around the near-empty store - as he got out from behind the counter and made his way over to me. "What's up? I haven't seen you here for a while. Hunting down New realises?" He guessed. "You know it! Did you by any chance unpack a box of Mood Drops this week?" I asked, eyes staring holes threw his head from under my hoody. "No. I'm sorry but I haven't unpacked any this week," I slouched visibly in defeat. "Because I unpacked then about an hour ago." I felt my ears perk up as I straightened. "You suck!" I yelled, lightly punching the boy in the arm, glaring playfully.

He simply chuckled good-heartedly as he led the way over the the table holding the new item's. "Here we are!" I picked up a box and began to examine the back of it. "How much?" I asked, still reading the instructions. "¥2500, but we're having a sale right now. Buy two get one free!" He said. I know the shop -that is owned and ran by Tadase's family - is having issue's. Ever sense online shopping got big, less and less customers have been coming here.

"You know what? I think I'm going to need about six of these." I said, setting the box I was inspecting down. "They only give you enough for a month and I want these to last the rest of the year and through summer." Tadase's eyes visibly widened, but before he could say anything, I spoke again. "And I'm going to need a few more things too. I need some mineral chalk for those magic circles Professor Bradley assigned us to do over the weekend. Can I get...four boxes of the silver-lined type? It gives the best effect." I thought for a moment. "And while I'm at it, can I also get some French lavender?" Looking dazed, Tadase nodded nimbly, walking towards the storage room where all the herbs are kept.

I grabbed about six boxes of the mood drops and four boxes of the silver-lined chalk before making my way over to the check out counter just in time to see Tadase return from the back, carrying a small bag of French lavender. "Are you sure you want all of this Amu-chan?" He double-checked, while ringing up the items. "Yeah! I've seen meaning to get this stuff for a few weeks anyway." I reassured him. He simply nodded thankfully and began to bag my things. "That will be ¥18000, oh new favorite costumer of my dad's." Tadase told me. Knowing Hotori-san, he would be ecstatic when he finds out someone came today alone. Handing him the money and grabbing my bags, I waved at Tadase and headed for the door. "Bye Tadase! See you Monday!" I called at him, exiting the small potions shop. "Bye Amu-chan!" He called back waving.

xXx

Around five minutes later, I was walking through my front door, taking off my shoes. Picking up my bags, I ran up to my bathroom to put away the mood drops and then to the kitchen to put away the French lavender in the herb cabinet next the the cauldron mom keeps out for brewing potions and herb tea - I could faintly smell a bit of mint indicating she had make a mint tea while I was gone - and finally I threw away the bags clutching the chalk in ny hands. Putting the other three boxes on the table, I climbed up the stairs and headed for Ami's room. "Oi Ami!" I called, entering the room. The room itself was painted light pink almost matching my hair, and was decorated with a white dresser and a small matching bedside table as well as a white desk decorated with butterfly stickers. In the middle of the room was a white canopy bed with light purple bedding and white curtains. Ami was seated on her bed reading the book I'd loaned her the other day called Splintered by A. G. Howard (A.N I don't own either but it is the best book ever! I recommend everyone to read it if you like action/adventure/romance/magic/love triangles!) she looked at me and smiled her little kid smile.

"Onee-chan!" She called, putting a bookmark in the book and setting it down. "What's up?" She asked, her head tilting to the side, curiously. "I was just wondering if you wanted to go outside and," I lifted up the hand that held the chalk. "Have some fun?" I smirked. She beamed up at me, hurrying off of her bed and pushing past me towards the stairs. "OKAY!" She yelled. I laughed quietly, shaking my head as I followed my spazy sister down the stairs. When I reached the door, u saw she was already there, shoes on and all, ready to bolt out the door. Quickly slipping my boots back on, we walked outside and stood in the concrete drive-way. "Alright! Ready?" I asked Ami. Her response was a fast nod of the head and a large grin. "Alright!"

Deciding to keep it as non-destructive as possible, I drew a two layer circle with a triangle reaching all the way to the top layer, with three much smaller triangles half inside the first, half reaching past the top layer, each located in their own respected side of the larger triangle. Sitting up to examine my work, I smiled. "Ami. Go get something of Kukai's!" I ordered, watching her nod happily and running of into the house. Two minutes later, she came back with MP3 player. "Here!" She exclaimed, excitedly, handing me the evil device. "Prefect!" Crash! I threw it into the circle, letting it break into a million pieces. "Now watch, little sis! This is how awesome your Onee-chan is!" Clapping my hands, I pressed my palms onto the circle, watching as the MP3 player returned to one piece again. "WOW! That was so cool! Lemme try!" She reached for the music player and threw it onto the circle like I did, watching as it was once again, destroyed.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST DO?!" Called a shocked voice from the door. Turning, we saw non other than Kukai in the doorway, looking both furious and shocked. "MY MP3 PLAYER!" He shouted, devastated. " It's okay Nii-Chan! We can fix it!" Remembering how loud that thing is (to me, at least) and remembering Kukai's horrible taste in music, I used my foot to smudge the edge of the circle a bit. "See! Watch!" Ami yelled, clapping her hands and pressing her palms to the circle. "Huh? Why isn't is working?" She asked, thinking out loud, no doubt. Kukai simply looked depressed and trudged back inside. "Onee-chan? Why didn't it work?"

"Couldn't tell you Ami." I smirked to myself, happy to have finally gotten rid of that horrible device. "Hey! I think mom made brownies earlier. Wanna go snack on some?" I asked her. "Sure!" She said happily, all but forgetting about the MP3 player and the circle.
