Next chapter! I hope you all like it so far. I know the last one was super short (and a long time ago. My bad) but things will be moving faster now. I hope. I have been working on my own personal, original stuff lately. So that's been a my bad! I hope you enjoy the chapter! Please review or favourite/follow. I love them all and it brightens my day! **Disclaimer** I don't know own anything but the storyline.
The rest of the week past the same as school always does. Jim would meet Sebastian at his locker and then Moran would walk him to his class. He would try and socialize at lunch but most of the time he ended up ignoring the boy. Moran had gotten used to this and so didn't complain as much as he had the first few days.
Jim had tried to convince himself he wasn't counting down the days until Saturday. He almost did until Saturday morning came and he woke up early. Early on a weekend for him was not normal. He ended up staying in bed for another few hours awake. He cursed his eagerness and tried to dim it down so Moran wouldn't see it. He had to keep the upper hand after all.
He stared up at his ceiling, arms behind his head. The rest of the house was silent and it would be for at least another two hours. Neither of his parents had to work on the weekends. Sometimes his mom would do some office work but most of the time she told her colleagues to work out their own problems. Jim couldn't wait to have that kind of power.
Slowly he turned his head to stare out his open window. He always slept with it open. It was useful for quick escapes, hearing potential threats and frankly just the fresh air from being so high above the city. Jim sat up slowly and looked out over London. There were few people up at this hour, but still he could see a few pedestrians getting an early start to their day. The sky was clear, very unlike London for this time of year but he wasn't complaining.
With no rain he wouldn't have to worry about two coats.
He ran his hands through his dark hair, heaving a sigh. He had all day to kill and then he had to come up with an excuse as to why he was leaving. Where he was going and why he wouldn't be home until probably late. If he faltered at all in his explanations his parents wouldn't let him out of the house till he told the truth. That would go over so well too!
Bored out of his mind, Jim turned on his computer and decided to do some research. It was better than sitting around doing nothing for an hour. What he was researching he had no idea. There was no one new at school and his sources hadn't given him any new gossip he could use for blackmail. Instead he just opened his email to see if anything interesting was going on outside the country.
He had the emails that were sent to his mom sent to him as well. She didn't know he got them and he intended to keep it that way. She wouldn't approve but he knew he had to stay up to date on all the affairs of the family.
With a sigh he scanned quickly through the new messages. Nothing of importance there. Except... It was probably nothing but their spies had discovered some plot that was being put into play. Clicking on it Jim read over what the spy had discovered. It had to do with the Moran family. That much he was certain of. They had heard whispers of the Moran family having a plan. It sounded like an assassination. The details involved a certain undisclosed person and that details would follow as they were discovered. That was the end of the email.
Jim sat back in his seat and looked towards the window. He didn't want to think it, but the only new thing that had happened in the Moran family was Sebastian asking him out. Had his parents discovered it and now there was a plot for his new beau to take out Jim?
It was a little self-centred but probably not too far off.
Jim decided he would try and bring it up casually over dinner tonight. If Sebastian caved and told him everything, great that would mean less work for him. He could end it there and then; have someone shoot the boy if needed. If he didn't, well Jim would be able to tell if he was lying. Their relationship could become complicated and, dare he think it, a little bit more fun.
That night when Moran texted Jim that he was here Jim jumped up, maybe a little too eagerly. He had to keep reminding himself about the email and how delicate the situation now was.
Jim had been ready almost an hour before. Hair done, dressed his best. His parents hadn't questioned anything, considering he usually dressed this way.
This was one of the many times that dressing proper served a purpose.
With caution he slipped out of the house and made his way down onto the street. His parents were off doing their own business tonight and wouldn't miss him. Jim had made sure of this. He didn't want any distractions while he was out with the Moran boy. This was his task and his parents would never know about it.
He wore a simple suit, not the most expensive one he had but nice enough. Black suit, black tie and a pair of his favourite shoes. He'd done his hair how it always was and wore a simple overcoat, thin but it usually kept him warm.
Outside the air was crisp, not at all like it seemed earlier in the day. He shivered the slightest as he walked out; momentarily wishing he'd brought the bigger coat. It was already dark out, the side of effect of autumn. Sebastian was leaning against his expensive looking car, his arms crossed and a lazy smirk on his face. He was dressed in a black suit with a dark blue tie. His hair was gelled back, revealing the perfect bone structure in his face.
"Finally." He said as Jim walked out "I was starting think you wouldn't come."
Jim rolled his eyes "You texted me five minutes ago. I had to make sure I could get out without my parents seeing. Calm down Moran."
"Oh, we're reverting to secrecy? Maybe I should have tossed rocks at your window."
"You wouldn't have been able to reach it." Jim replied, getting into the passenger side of his car.
Sebastian laughed as he got into the driver's seat "You obviously underestimate my abilities."
"Hardly."
With a shake of his head Sebastian turned on the car and pulled away from his building. They stayed silent for most of the drive, Jim kept glancing around. Trying not to seem nervous, he'd never admit it but the email had made him cautious. He knew he was in the car with his family's enemy. Not really the most romantic setting.
Jim wasn't sure how long he would be able to keep his ruse up. He knew he said he'd give it a week trial run but now with the possibility of Sebastian being sent to kill him, he wasn't sure if he could do that. Tonight would be the night to get information, see if there was any truth to what the email said. Of course it hadn't given any names but Jim was smart enough to try and put the pieces together himself. He didn't need the spies to tell him everything.
The city lights flew past them as Sebastian drove into the downtown area. There were shops lining each side of the road. At least they weren't going anywhere isolated.
Silently Jim cursed himself for not bringing a weapon. He usually had something on him, why had he forgotten this time? The excitement of having a date with someone as dangerous as Moran? Maybe. But Jim wasn't one to throw caution to the side so easily. Even when he went searching for danger, he always made sure he had a way out. Always.
Sebastian pulled off to the side of the road where the Italian restaurant sat. It wasn't super fancy but just enough to be perfect for a first date. Jim hid the smile that came over his lips; he couldn't give in to the charm. The quaint little place could have that effect on people. It was simple but the food was excellent.
He stared at the restaurant while Moran got out and opened his door for him. Jim turned his attention to him and grinned, at least the boy had manners. He stepped out onto the clear sidewalk and led the way into the restaurant.
It wasn't the cleanest place in the world but the owner seated them right away. They took a booth in the back corner, as far away from the street view as possible. The owner made a passing comment about keeping it clear all day just as Moran had asked. It was the spot Jim would've chosen and he felt a strange warmth spread through his chest that Sebastian had requested the same one. Maybe he'd jumped too quickly to conclusions...
They sat down, facing each other. Jim avoided eye contact and stared at his menu. He already knew what he'd be getting; it's what he ordered every time. He just wasn't sure what to say. Which of course was rare for him; he silently hoped Sebastian was better at conversation or this would be a very awkward date.
"Let me guess," Moran started, making Jim look up from his menu "You're getting the risotto and pine nuts and chicken, mixed with a creamy white sauce based with white wine?"
Jim raised an eyebrow "That's what I usually get yes." He smirked "How'd you know?"
"It's my favourite too. I just figured you'd probably have the same acquired tastes as me."
"Perhaps I was too quick to judge." Jim mused "You're not as stupid as you look."
Sebastian chuckled softly and ran a hand through his blond hair. He looked at Jim with a half smirk on his lips "Thanks, I think."
"You're welcome."
They elapsed into silence, ordered their food and a bottle of their best red wine. Always red. Jim refused to drink anything else. The owner had hesitated, obviously pondering whether it was worth the hassle to remind them they were underage. In the end he let it slide and brought it to them anyway. He knew who their parents were. He knew better than to mess with them.
Jim really did love being powerful.
As he sipped his wine he marvelled at how the bitter taste rolled over his taste buds. Sebastian's sat in front of him, barely touched. He took a sip every once in a while, but not as much as Jim. "What's wrong Moran? Don't like the wine?"
The boy laughed softly "I don't drink wine. I go for the harder stuff."
"Oh?"
He nodded "If I'm going to drink, I'm going to do it right." Sebastian smiled over at Jim "But a glass of wine never hurts every once in awhile." He raised his glass and clinked it against Jim's "To us." He said softly.
It was Jim's turn to chuckle "To us." He repeated. It was a little sappy for his taste. Still, he didn't mind pretending to be a sap right now. No one else could see them after all. They sipped their wine, keeping eye contact with each other as they did.
When their food came Jim couldn't help but smile. It smelled as good as it always did. For a small business they really knew how to make five star food. He preferred this place to any fancy, expensive place his parents brought him to.
"You seem off." Sebastian commented as they ate.
Jim's head shot up sharply "Do I? What makes you say that?"
The sniper shrugged "You usually always have something to say. Offensive or not. You seem on guard. Did I do something wrong?"
He seemed genuinely convinced, concerned even. Jim let his guard down the slightest. Yes he could be faking it, but then again he didn't actually have any proof that showed Moran was trying to kill him. Right now he was simply trying to be friendly and make their date go well.
So, naturally Jim lied. He knew Moran wouldn't give this up.
"Just cautious. You might be possessed or something."
Sebastian sputtered and looked at him with amusement in those blue eyes "What? You thought I was a demon?"
"I thought I'd consider all possibilities." Jim replied with a shrug.
Moran nodded, still giggling softly. He reached out and took Jim's hand gently "You're cute." He said softly, his lips moving into an easy smile.
Jim did his best not to get lost in the sniper's eyes. It was difficult but he managed to keep his head. He held Sebastian's hand, trying to seem somewhat warm. He was sure the sniper knew that wasn't the answer, but he let it go. Thankfully.
They finished their dinner in silence. Jim's hand still in Moran's. He knew he had to bring up the possibility that Moran was trying to kill him. How did you bring up something like that casually though? He obviously couldn't just outright ask him. That would blow all the fun! He pondered as they grazed over a desert menu. They'd decided it would be easier to just share something; both of them already full from the giant plate that had been dinner.
Choosing a chocolate explosion cake with vanilla ice cream they ordered and waited. Jim took the opportunity to ask about Moran's family.
"What? Don't you know all about me already?" Sebastian asked, suddenly seeming slightly defensive. "Or did I overestimate your snooping skills?"
Jim stuck his tongue out at Moran. Childish yes, but with him it felt okay. If he was honest with himself, everything with Moran felt okay. A poor choice of a word since it didn't even begin to describe his feelings about how he felt with Moran. Still there it was. That little word. Okay.
"Of course you didn't." Jim replied "I just thought I'd get your view. Facts only get you so far." Nice Jim, nice cover. He'll totally buy that! Jim thought sarcastically. It was probably one of the worst lies he'd ever told.
Sebastian smirked at him, but didn't question it. He paused and then said "You don't need to know anything about them Jim. They are power hungry. Probably just like your parents."
True. That didn't tell him anything though. Sebastian Moran was an unfair creature. Hot and frustrating in ever manner of the word.
"That doesn't change my mind Moran." Jim told him. He leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest. Trying to look confident and remain in charge. Which, in all honesty, wasn't hard. Moran knew who was in charge. He didn't try and question that ever. Jim knew if this ever got really serious he would have so much fun with the sniper.
Sebastian only sighed heavily. Their desert was brought and he tried to use it as a distraction but Jim refused to let the subject drop. He had to know! He pestered him with questions as they ate the rich cake. Trying to get some semblance of an answer out of him.
"Jim!" Sebastian said suddenly, looking at him with an earnest expression "Please just let it go. Forget about my family okay? Can we just have this? Just us. No one else. I don't care about your family so please leave mine peace. I only want to deal with you, I only want you."
He knew then that he had to find a different way to get the answers. Moran was obviously not going to budge. If he was truthful with himself, Moran taking control was a little hot. "Okay, okay fine." Jim replied, pretending to resign from that thought train. Instead he put it away in a file to be reopened later. This wasn't going to go away. Not at all.
Moran smiled at him gratefully "Great." He replied.
Jim leaned forward and kissed the sniper. Sebastian blinked as he felt Jim's lips crash into his, he relaxed quickly though and kissed him back. One hand cupping the back of his head gently. Jim pulled back first and finished the last of the cake with a dark grin.
"Wow, rude little shit aren't you?" Sebastian muttered as Jim finished the cake.
Jim shrugged and leaned on his hands. He batted his eyelashes playfully and Moran smacked him gently across the face.
"I'll go pay." Moran said and walked off to pay the bill.
Jim watched him go with a crooked smile. Maybe this could work out; he had to figure out what the plot was first of course. Still, if it turned it had nothing to do with Moran he might be able to stay with him. He decided that he wouldn't mind that. Not really at least. The sneaking around part would be fun too.
Yeah, yeah this could work.
