The Pharaoh and the Prince

Previously…

"Marcus you told me that you make it so my son would have to marry the Prince of Rome." King Theron said as he paced his office, Prince Duke off to the side of him lounging in a chair, and Marcus kneeling on the floor.

"Your Majesty, I did not expect for the Master to remember such a small detail." He said.

"Well what are we to do now? I want this marriage. You want this marriage right, Duke?"

"Of course." He said "That little Prince looks like a good fuck." He added with a smirk.

"There we go." Theron said throwing his hands up. "How are you going to make this happen?" he said grabbing Marcus by the front of his shirt and pulling him close to his face.

"There is only one way." He said with his head down before he looked up, and stared right into the eyes of the King, and said one word that changed the entire game for everyone playing.

"War."

Chapter 10: The Threat of War/ Enter Yami

Yuugi and Atemu had returned to Egypt 4 months ago. When they had returned Yuugi used a simple spell and created a small throne next to Atemu's. His throne was tied to him. It was a gold throne but it was decorated with his colors. The pillows were the color amethyst with a gold inlay.

Yuugi began his lesson the day after they had arrived and Atemu wasn't an easy teacher nor were his priests. Yuugi's schedule was planned out for him every day with very little free time. He would wake up around 5 every morning, get dressed, eat breakfast and then go to see Seto who would teach him about languages and politics. Then he would go to Atemu in the throne room. He would have an hour or 2 of lessons in the presentation of a king and how to carry himself in the presence of other royalty. Then he would sit next to Atemu and observed the council, the way the make decisions and the way they go about their daily duties.

After that they would take a short break for lunch. While everyone else would go back to the meetings he would go and train for 2 to 3 hours in magic with Mahado or Amethyst. Then for an hour Amethyst would teach him about his home and the way things work there. He then went with Mariku and Akeifa to learn the art of fighting, torture and how to develop an eye for danger. Akeifa also taught how to get in and out of somewhere without being detected. By the end of the day he would be so tired that he would eat a quick dinner in the kitchen before going to his and Atemu's chambers. He would take a bath that would already be drawn for him and then fall asleep in Atemu's arms.

About 2 months into the whole thing Amethyst was called back to Rome by his father. She didn't say why she was going back but she said that it was nothing for him to worry about at the moment. But Yuugi knew something was up. His father wouldn't call her back unless it was something very serious and it turns out it was.

Yuugi and Atemu were sitting on their thrones listening to the council talk of taxes, criminals, and various other things when a Roman messenger enter the room. He bowed to 2 royalty and waited for permission to speak.

"Stand messenger of Rome." Atemu commanded. He stood. "Speak tell us what you have brought."

"Your majesties I come baring a message from the High Master Amethyst." He said.

"Very well. Seto take the letter from the man." Atemu said and Seto took the letter from him. "Guards. Escort this man to the kitchen and give him food and water." Once they had left Atemu looked to Seto "Please read the letter out loud Seto."

"My dearest Prince,…" He began and everyone knew the letter was for Yuugi "I had believed that I might spare you of the knowledge behind the reason I left so abruptly. Sadly I no longer have that comfort but instead I feel as if I should be the one to tell you before you hear it from your father, which I regret would be most catastrophic. So now there will be no surprise when he does contact you. Greece has threatened us with war. Your father sent me to try and talk to them, to see if there was a slight chance that they would reconsider. I have been in Greece for these past 2 months but they refuse to change their mind. As Prince of our nation you will be expected to aid in leading the army when the war is officially called for. I still pray to the gods that this does not happen but it seems inevitable. In order to make sure you are truly ready for war your father has given me permission to reunite you with your yami. I will be coming two days after my messenger returns. I hope that this not turn out to be as bad as I believe it will be. Make sure the Pharaoh and his court prepare you physically and mentally for this. It will all change so fast. Your faithful protector, Amethyst."

All eyes turned to Yuugi who was frozen in shock. No one knew what to say or do. Atemu was the most concerned with this situation. His Yuugi was not a fighter, he didn't have the heart to kill a beetle that was on his pillow even though he was frightened by it. There was no way Yuugi could handle the pressure and hardship of leading an army.

"Yuugi…" He started to say reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder.

"I need to think." Yuugi said as he stood from his throne and left the room. Everyone watched him with concerned eyes.

"Pharaoh." Isis said trying to get his attention but he just kept staring at the doors. "Pharaoh. Pharaoh. Atemu!"

"What!?" He yelled at Isis though she remained unfazed by his outburst.

"Perhaps you should go after Yuugi. He is no doubt distressed by these events and could use some comfort." Isis said.

"But we still have to completely rework his schedule so we can prepare him for the possible war." Atemu said.

"We will work everything out and check it with you at dinner." Shimon said.

"For now you must go and comfort your lover." Isis said.

"Thank you." He said before he got up from his throne and ran from the room.

He found Yuugi sitting on the fountain in his private garden. He approached Yuugi and sat beside him pulling him towards him. They just sat there. Neither of them spoke, they just sat in the peace of the gardens. Finally it was Yuugi who broke the silence.

"How am I supposed to fight in a war and lead an army when I can barely kill a spider in the corner if my chambers?" He asked.

"You don't have to become a murderer during this war." Atemu said. "I remember the first time I went to war. I was terrified but I had to hide that so I could be a strong leader and show the enemy that I wasn't going to let them win. You just have to learn to mask your fear."

"I guess that's why I am being reunited with Yami." Yuugi mumbled.

"Are you finally going to tell me why the 2 of you are separate?" Atemu asked.

"Well you do deserve to know." Yuugi said before he moved away from Atemu and turned so he could look at him. Atemu turned as well. "Okay so you know that a yami is a manifestation of a person's inner strength that they cannot reach themselves." A nod "And that there are two types of yami's. The yami's that are only slightly different from yourself. They don't have a separate name because they are not that far under the surface. And the yami's that are found deeper under the surface and become completely different." Another nod. "Well my yami was way under the surface. I was such a weak child that I was completely dependent on my yami for aid in just about everything. My father thought that it wouldn't be me that rule Rome but instead Yami would rule. It made him afraid and so he had Amethyst create a magical crown that could bind did it when I was three years old."

"Did it hurt when they did it?" Atemu asked.

"Very much." Yuugi said.

"How did your father stand by and watch you be in so much pain?" Atemu asked concerned.

"He didn't. He had Amethyst put a silencing spell on the room and only came to comfort me after everything was said and done." He said.

"So how will you reunit with Yami?" Atemu asked.

"When I put the crown on Yami can take control and if I wear it long enough we will be reunited." Yuugi answered.

"So your father separated your from Yami, knowing it would cause you mass amounts of pain, just because he was afraid Yami would rule instead of you?" Yuugi nodded "Well that is just crazy."

"But that isn't even the worst part." Yuugi said "Whenever Yami is in the crown he is left in the dark. There is no light at all. He even told me once, when Amethyst let me talk to him, that the darkness could hurt him and it did hurt him in the past. He even showed my the scars."

"Why would your father do this?" Atemu asked conceded for Yuugi and Yami.

"Fear makes people do stupid things. I believe you taught me that Atemu." Yuugi said.

"I remember that." Atemu said smiling down at Yuugi before bringing him in for a kiss. "And don't worry about the war right now Yuugi. We will do all we can to prepare you and Yami but remember it's still not official."

"I'll try to remember that." Yuugi said leaning in to kiss Atemu again. After they parted Atemu stood up.

"Come we have been out here for hours and I believe it is now time for dinner." He said pulling Yuugi up "We will be eating in the dining hall with everyone else and you will learn what your new schedule is."

A week went by before they received a magical message from Amethyst saying that see would be there in a few hours. Everyone was gathered in the throne room when she arrived. Yuugi was beyond nervous when she approached him and handed him the small but highly decorated black box. She gave him the key and waited till he unlocked it. Everyone was silent, waiting to see what would occur.

Finally Yuugi opened the box and removed the small black crown that held Yami. Amethyst took the box from him and took out another box but this one was gold. Yuugi continued to stare at the crown in his hands as he waited for Mahado, who had been asked to aid with the ceremony, to remove the gold crown he had on his head and place it in the gold box. Once that was done, and the gold box was locked, he moved and placed the black crown on his head.

The change was instant. He became noticeably taller and it seemed that his muscles grew in size as well. His hair now resembled Atemu's to the tea except his was tipped in a dark amethyst instead of the crimson color of Atemu's hair. His face was more anglular and he had an aura that surrounded him that said 'Back Off!' instead of Yuugi's usual aura which said 'Come be my friend.'

His eyes were sharp, almost as sharp as Atemu's but not quite as bad and his eyes were colored the same as his hair tips. He looked around the room and examined every person before he went into a low bow, bending at his waist.

"I do not believe we have met." He said in a deep voice, still bowed before he looked up sharply and locked eyes with Atemu "I am Yami."

Boom. There it is. I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I have two different plans for this story. Either A) I end the story after the next few chapters and make a sequel; or B) I just continue writing under this story title. It is up to you but if you don't tell me I will do it my way and you may hate me for it. So please review and give me you input.
