The pair reached their usual hideaway spot, and Imogen sat down on the bench, looking at the floor.
"What are you thinking about?" Connor asked, sitting beside her.
"I'm just... thinking about everything that's happened... it hasn't properly sunk in yet... the baby I mean..." she said softly.
Connor put an arm around her waist, pulling her close. "Doesn't feel real yet does it." he answered, knowing exactly how she felt. "We'll come through it. This baby will have everything. It will have a home, and parents that want to be with each other, and love each other enough to make it work. It will have what we didn't."
Imogen listened to him and she smiled. "Yeah I suppose that's true." she nodded. She just worried that she'd mess up.
"And we'll make mistakes." he spoke, as though reading her mind. "Course we will, no one's perfect, but we learn from them. You're the smartest girl I know, and I believe in you."
Imogen sniffled in response and closed her eyes to stop the sudden tears.
Connor just sat there, holding her close.
The pair stayed in silence for a while, just enjoying each other's company, neither realised that Christine was trying to get hold of them, their phones were in their bags, on silent.
"Dynasty, have you seen Imogen and Connor?" christine asked as she passed her in the corridor.
"No, miss. haven't seen her since this mornin'." Dynasty answered. "Why, what's up?"
"Nothing. Nothing I'm sure they'll turn up." Christine gave her a smile and carried on down the corridor.
Dynasty bit her lip and carried on to her History lesson. She gave Kevin a small smile and as she was about to enter the room, she saw Barry approaching.
"Barry?"
"What do you want?" Barry stopped, looking at her, his eyes cold, void of emotion. Gone was the protective big brother she'd known twenty four hours before.
She thought about asking to come home, but seeing her brother like that forced her to change what she wanted to say. "I need to get my stuff..."
"Well mum'll be chucking it at the weekend." Barry answered.
"Can you help me...? I want to go back tonight but I want to make sure she's either asleep or not there..." Dynasty answered.
Barry didn't answer, he just pushed past her and carried on walking.
Dynasty bit her lip again, tears coming to her eyes and she leaned against Kevin.
"We'll go there tonight, and you can come stay with me at the school house. Maggie won't mind." Kevin said gently, leading her into the classroom, thankful that only the teacher was there at the moment.
"Oh, Dynasty? What ever is the matter, dear?" Audrey asked, rushing over, leaving work sheets forgotten on a desk.
"It's nothin' miss..." Dynasty bit her lip, wiping her eyes.
"It most certainly is not nothing, Dynasty." Audrey told her. "I'd hate for you to think you couldn't talk to me. I do want to help you."
Dynasty's shoulders dropped, as though in defeat. She'd given in. "Me mum's kicked me out." she said quietly.
"And I'm gonna ask Maggie if she can stay at the school house for a bit." Kevin added.
"Oh you poor dear..." Audrey sighed gently, feeling sorry for the girl. "Well I can't imagine Maggie saying no. You go on now, and you come straight back."
Kevin nodded and almost had to drag Dynasty out of the room towards the Home Ec. department.
"Dyn, you need somewhere to stay. And I know Maggie'll love to have you over, cause I know you won't want to go back to the flat." He pointed out and bit his lip when he saw her flinch. "Sorry but you know it's true."
Dynasty bit her lip and nodded. "She definitely won't mind?" She asked as Kevin walked into the room and asked Maggie to come outside.
"Dynasty? Is everything alright, pet?" Maggie asked, concerned for the young girl.
Dynasty shook her head and looked at the floor.
"They kicked her out, Mrs. B." Kevin said gently, his hand on Dynasty's arm.
"What? Why?" Maggie looked shocked. "Don't tell me it's cause you reported that...-"
"We never grass..." was Dynasty's reply, and Maggie swiftly pulled her into a hug.
"You can stay in the school house as much as you like." She told the girl. "I won't be having you kipping on any sofa alright?"
Dynasty gave a nod amd smiled a little, a huge weight lifted from her shoulders. "Thank you." She said softly.
"Don't you worry about it, pet. Now off you go, you should be in lessons."
Kevin gave her a grateful smile as the two teens walked back to their classes.
Maggie sighed softly. If she ever saw Carol Barry again she would be sure to give her a piece of her mind.
