"I thought I asked you to see me this morning." Christine said when she saw Connor and Imogen enter her classroom.
"Sorry... We got distracted..." Imogen said quietly.
"Yes well go to the cooler, I will be there in five minutes." Christine said, looking at them both, and noticed Imogen shifting slightly. "Everything alright Imogen?"
Imogen nodded. "Yeah I'm fine." she said and left the room with Connor.
"We have to tell her... But how? And when?" Imogen sighed heavily.
"I don't know... Maybe we could tell her later, when we're at mine." Connor suggested as they walked down the corridor. "Might be better, that way the whole school won't find out."
"How did she take... y'know... me telling her about us being married?"
Connor shrugged. "I just got a long lecture about how we should have waited and she was hurt we went behind her back. But at least she knows that so she's gonna be a little more prepared to find this out."
Imogen nodded slightly.
Connor pulled her closer. "But whatever happens, I'll be there with you. Every step of the way." he smiled.
She smiled back and pushed the door to the cooler open, walked inside and took her seat, Connor sitting beside her.
Christine walked from her classroom and made her way towards the cooler. She couldn't shake off that something was clearly bothering Imogen, but she couldn't get the girl to speak up. She stopped outside the door, looking through the window into the room. She could see them sat next to each other, Connor seemed to be comorting her, but why were her arms wrapped around her stomach? No... surely not... She shook the thought off and walked into the room. "Right, are you two going to tell me where you were?"
Imogen looked up and brought her arms up to rest on the table.
"We just went for a walk, I said last night." Connor said, looking at his mother.
"I was asking Imogen, son."
Something in her tone froze the pair.
"I didn't feel too well... and I wanted to go for a walk, and I asked Connor to come with me."
"You could have at least told me where you were. And what was wrong."
Imogen could no longer look at the woman, suddenly finding her singers interesting.
"I don't think she wanted to bother anyone." Connor spoke watching his mother carefully for her reaction.
"Well we will talk more later. I need to have a word with you anyway, son." she gave him a knowing look.
'She knows...' he thought, and fought hard to keep his expression neutral. "Okay." he nodded.
Christine studied them for a moment longer. Imogen looked increasingly nervous, Connor, although trying to hide it, was scared as hell. She knew her assumption was right, and they both had some explaining to do about how they could have been so stupid.
"You can go when the bell goes, and make sure you go straight to your lesson. I will be checking." Christine said and left the room.
Imogen sighed heavily. "Connor I'm scared..."
He wrapped his arm around her again, holding her close. "So am I... Look she can't say much can she. We're married, and we're both old enough."
Imogen nodded, closing her eyes for a moment until the teacher at the front of the room cleared his throat, causing the two to separate again.
"We'll work through it, I'm not going anywhere, I promise." Connor told her, causing her to smile again.
"Good, cause I'm not letting you."
