A/N: So I said that the last chapter was really cute and I didn't like it. So...if you're reading this and you're scared...good.

Enjoy.

"She really called you Mr. Boss Man?" Havoc asked, grinning like an idiot. Roy shook his head. "I already talked to her doctor about her medications. They're going to cut back." He stated. Winry crossed her arms worriedly. "Why was she on so many to begin with?" She asked. "She had a lot of wounds. Most were old but some were on their way to being infected. They also ended up having to give her a sedative. I think we can all guess why." Everyone cast a glace over to her closed hospital door as Roy finished speaking. "She's better on the other side of a weapon." Breda commented. "She's better on the other side of a hospital bed." Roy commented. His subordinates looked at him- still staring at the door. "Colonel?" Winry asked. "Are you okay?"

Winry's question went unanswered as Hawkeye's doctor chose that moment to leave the Lieutenants room. "She's awake now if you'd like to see her Colonel Mustang." He informed them. Roy nodded and disappeared into the hospital room.

"Thank you for everything, doctor." Fuery said before the doctor left them. "Thank you all for bringing her in." He told them.

"Doctor Henrickson." A deep voice said from behind the group. They all turned to the newcomer greeting the doctor. "Brigadier General Richardson." He introduced himself. Roy's team all exchanged nervous glances. They couldn't let their new commander know Roy had returned. They certainly couldn't let him know Riza was speaking to him at that very moment about what the Brigadier General had done to her.

"I thought Ed and Al left to stall him." Breda whispered, urgently. "Yeah, we tried." The team and Winry turned to see Ed and Al behind them. "What happened?" Falman asked. "We didn't make it to him in time." Al answered sounding distraught. Everyone glanced back to Richardson and the doctor, not far down the hall from them.

"Anyone have a plan?" Winry whispered as Richardson spoke to the doctor about Riza's condition. "Yeah." Edward replied. "A really bad plan." He added on. "I'm in." Winry replied. Ed glanced around at the group. "If he tries to go in there stall until we get back. It shouldn't take long." With that the Fullmetal Alchemist grabbed Winry's hand and dragged her into a nearby supply closet. Havoc rushed over and banged on the door.

"Hey, Chief now is not the time to mess around with your girlfriend!" He all but shouted. "Shush!" Breda and Falman said grabbing him while muffled scolding came from the inside of the closet. "They said they have a plan Havoc..." Fuery pointed out. "A bad plan." He reminded.

Roy closed the door softly behind him as he watched the blonde woman in the hospital bed across from him. Riza turned to face him as he entered, her hair moving over her face and shoulders as it had been taken down from it's usual clip. "Colonel." She said. Roy made himself walk to her bed and sit on the edge. "Hawkeye." He replied. Riza smiled a little and dropped her gaze down to the blanket over her. Roy tilted his head to the side. "What is it?" He asked. "Nothing." She said and smiled again. "I just- It struck me as funny that you didn't even consider sitting in the chair." She said looking from where he was sat on her bed to the chair beside it. "Do you mind?" He asked. Riza smiled again and shook her head. "No." She answered. Roy gave a slight nod and Riza looked back down. "I, um." She cleared her throat. "I was really out of it earlier. I actually thought that I dreamed that you were here." Roy smiled. "No I'm very real. I promise." He looked at Riza seriously. "As real as the reason you're here." Riza looked up at him, ready to explain but, seeing the way he was looking at her all of the words died and she dropped his gaze.

She looked back up when he slid closer to her on the bed. "Hawkeye. I need you to tell me. You promised." He said, gently. Riza let out a long breath and squeezed her eyes shut. "Riza-,"

"How much do you want to know?" She asked. The look on her face was one of physical pain. Roy took a deep breath. "All of it."

"Brother." Al whispered, outside the closet door. "We need your distraction now." He said urgently. "Back away from the door." Winry warned. Al moved back and nodded at Havoc who was speaking with Richardson.

"I believe I should go in there before the doctors get back to her." Richardson was saying. "Oh. Of course." Havoc said slowly. Richardson nodded and moved past his second lieutenant who looked nervously at the rest of the team. Before their commander could open the door, however, another door burst open. Before anyone could tell what door it was the Fullmetal Alchemist rushed into the hall- beaten, bloodied, and missing not only his trademark red cloak but his auto-mail arm as well. He rushed towards the group and promptly tripped and fell to the floor at their feet.

"Fullmetal?" Richardson asked, moving away from the door. "What the hell happened?" He demanded. Ed found his way back to his feet. He hair had fallen out of it's braid and there was blood in his bangs as well as on his face. Instead of answering he started to rush off again when Al appeared again. "Edward!" He yelled and started to chase his brother down the hall only to watch him collapse. "Ed!" He yelled again, dropping down next to him.

"Doctor!" Richardson ordered as the military men approached the fallen alchemist. Several doctors and nurses appeared and began taking Ed into an emergency room. Richardson followed barking orders the whole way and his subordinates following him. Al stayed by his brothers side and seemed to be the only one to notice the wink he sent to a blonde girl who disappeared into a hospital room amid the commotion.

"You understand I don't want to talk about it, right?" Riza asked. Roy looked at her. "You understand you have to, right?" He replied. Riza sighed and nodded. "How about..." Roy thought. "How about we take it one question at a time?" He suggested. Riza looked him in the eye for a moment before nodding. "Okay."

"Okay. So, when did it start?" He asked. "The day you left." She answered. "I fell-,"

"He tripped you." Roy corrected her. Riza looked up at him. "Winry told you." She stated. "The men told me about the tripped. Winry told me about what happened in the office- behind the closed door." Roy answered. "And no I did not ask her to report to me. No one told her to either. I do appreciate it though." He added. Riza sighed. "Of course." She said. "Hey." Roy placed his hand on her shoulder but moved it quickly down to her hand, not knowing where she was hurting and where she was okay. "It's not your fault."

Riza stared down at Roy's hand on top of hers. "Colonel-," Riza broke off upon hearing chaos erupt behind her closed door. Roy went to stand but stopped when he felt Riza's hand clench around his.

"Colonel." She whispered. Roy looked to see her staring at the door. "Is that..?" Roy trailed off but they both knew that it was Richardson's shadow on the other side of the door. "I sure am glad I shut the shades." He commented. "Sh." Hawkeye scolded. They listened intently to the noise happening on the other side and watched the shadows moving all over the hall.

"Are they yelling about...Fullmetal?" Riza asked. "I think so?" Roy guessed. Slowly all the commotion traveled further and further away from Riza's hospital room. Roy and Riza glanced at each other just as the door opened. Their eyes snapped back to the door as Winry rushed in and shut the door behind her immediately. "Winry?" Roy and Riza asked in unison. Winry paused and arched an eyebrow. Them talking at the same time was weird. "What just happened out there?" Roy asked and then noticed Edward's cloak in her hand. "What happened to Fullmetal?"

"Me." Winry answered with a shrug and pulled Ed's arm out of her bag. Roy and Riza gaped at her and Winry rolled her eyes. "Don't look at me like that. We needed to distract Richardson. Besides it was Ed's idea." She shoved the auto-mail appendage back in her bag. "So what did you do?" Riza asked. "Made it look like he'd been attacked. The doctors are taking him to a room right now and soon after I'll get a call. Come in extremely distraught and angry to fix it. That should give you two enough time. The boys will stall if need be. Can I use your window?" She asked, moving across the hospital room.

"The window?" Roy and Riza asked at once again. "Well, he can't know I was here." Winry replied, opening the window. "I'll be fine. And they'll handle Richardson." She said with a nod before jumping from the window; Ed's cloak flying behind her.

"Winry!" Riza yelled as Roy rushed to the window. The Colonel looked onto the street only to find the mechanic looking back up at the window. She was standing perfectly unharmed several feet below him, wearing Edward's cloak. She offered him a wink, picked up her bag, and rushed off.

"These kids are going to kill me." Roy said, closing the window and moving back to Riza. "Is she okay?" His lieutenant asked. Roy nodded still in disbelief as he sat back down. "Seriously. They scare me sometimes." He said. Riza surprised him with her next action- she laughed at his words. Roy looked up at her and smiled. It was nice to see her look happy and for a moment he forgot they were in a hospital. At least until she started to wince and hold her ribs. Both of their smiles faltered and he took her hand again.

"What else happened?" He asked, quietly. Riza let out a long breath. "Just...more of the same. It was um, sort of a daily routine. He'd...beat me everyday. Mainly on my torso; my ribs, stomach, along with my arms, shoulders, and legs."

"What about when the men were with you? They stopped letting you be alone with him. What happened then?" Roy asked. Riza bit her lip. "He found other ways. Other things. Either no one would notice these things or they seemed like accidents." She answered. "Like..?"

"Like...sleeping tablets in my coffee." Riza replied, not looking at Roy again. "What?" Roy asked, shocked. "He drugged you?" Riza nodded. "I ended up falling asleep in the back room and Richardson found me before the guys. I woke up with a blade sticking out of my shoulder.." Without even realizing it Roy moved the sleeve of her hospital gown out of the way and stared at the scar above her right collar bone. "Bastard." Roy swore. Riza pulled the sleeve back up. "After that I think he was really worried I'd turn him in. He avoided me. He still sent me dirty looks but he traded in physical abuse for verbal." She took a deep breath. "Then he started talking to the higher ups about removing me from my position."

"Your position as Lieutenant?" Roy asked in disbelief. "My position in the military entirely." Riza replied. Roy took both of her hands in his. "He can't do that. We'll fix it. We'll fight it."

"Colonel-,"

"Riza." Roy stopped her. "It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. I'm going to take care of it. Of you." Riza looked at him and shook her head. "Hey." Roy scolded. "Don't shake your head at me. I've got a plan." He said, grinning. Riza let out a sound that was something between a laugh and a scoff. "Now I'm really scared." She joked.
