UPDATE: Heh. Yay. We're already at chapter 20...TWENTY? Damn. Already this far? Good! Cause I'm not done! Neither is the story! AND THIS CHAPTER TOOK FOREVER. Anyways…
ONTO THE STORY
"Well I wouldn't necessarily use that word but Soarin and the jocks, and Gilda's army."
"Well, Gilda. I haven't seen her in ages, ever since she left anyway. Young Twilight I shall help thee…."
Twilight piped in before she finished her sentence.
"Will help me….Just correcting…"
"Thank you….Anyway, I will help you with what you need but we cannot be acquainted in the fight sadly, school policy. I can support anything besides that… What'd ya need?"
"Oh just artillery and maybe some training…"
"How far is this war?"
"Tomorrow…"
"Tomorrow?! Well we better get started!"
Luna stood up and pushed a wall, making it spin around.
"How did y-"
"Not now sister, we must help. Twilight, your weapons."
Guns and ammo lined the walls of the inner room. They ranged from pistols to launchers.
"How did you get these?" Celestia looked over at her sister, who was awestruck by her own collection.
"Wha? Oh I've gotten some stuff online and that led to another and so on…"
"Whatever. Twilight, I'll be leaving now. Remember to talk with Discord."
"Yes ma'am. Luna, let's get these packed up and sent down to the basement tonight."
"Which ones?"
Twilight turned and stopped in the doorway.
"All of them." She left the room and headed for Discord.
"Applejack, I just got a text from Twilight that she got help and weapons. Go help with getting people to join us."
"Alright."
Applejack walked out the doors and drove to Sweet Apple Acres. She pulled up to the barn and parked. Commotion was just around the barn, and that's where AJ went.
As she turned the corner, Big Mac threw the ball and nearly hit her.
"Hey Big Mac? Can ask a favor?"
"Eeyup..Whatcha' need?"
"You've obviously heard of the fight so can you and your friends help us out?"
"You know Granny raised us to be peaceful and respectful towards others."
"Yes, but it's unless those who you respect do too. I need help Mac…"
"I'll see what I can do."
"Alright let's get this stuff in here." Applejack waved toward the small opening.
Boxes of ammunition and guns were dragged into the small room. People scattered in and found a spot to be.
"Are they ready?" Rainbow walked down the steps and grabbed the last box.
"Yeh. Let's go."
Rainbow walked in and closed the entrance.
"OK. You all know why you're here. By the looks of it, we're outnumbered at least ten to one. But don't fret. We have plenty of weapons and time. I will be taking Gilda, Applejack will take Soarin', and the rest of you will be fighting those thunb headed jocks and emos."
"I don't look like a thumb do I?" Bulk Biceps stood up and looked at himself.
"No...No Bulk...You're fine." Rainbow grabbed her face and waved for him to sit down.
"OKAY!" He plopped into a metal chair and broke it.
He received giggles from the crowd as he fumbled over the broken pieces.
"ANYWAYS. You will need to get to know your opponent and weapon. Discord here will give a laydown of their weaknesses and such."
She walked over to Applejack and leaned to her ear.
"I gotta go. I'll be back tomorrow."
"Right. See ya." Applejack kissed Rainbow and waved her out.
Rainbow curved through a lonely road that wound through an open field. No houses were in site and was secluded to a large area. At the end of the road was a gate that had a lock on it. From that gate, a metal fence with rotting branches enclosed a mansion. The mansion was battered and shabby. Windows were broken and the gravel driveway was empty.
She drove up to the gate and pulled out a key from her pocket. It scraped it's way into the lock through the rust and unlocked. It fell to the floor and fell apart. Rainbow continued into the land, dodging potholes and bumps along the gravel road. The bike stopped just in front of the wooden deck. Rainbow hopped off and went up the creaky steps. Everywhere she looked, memories of her childhood would pop up. The old creaky rocking chair her mother would read stories to her on, the wind chimes that rang in the howling wind, and the battered screen door that creaked whenever opened. She shook her head and advanced toward the screen door and slowly pulled it open. It creaked with every inch it was pulled and eventually snapped before opening fully. It landed hard on the porch and broke into pieces.
Rainbow grabbed a different key that had an engraved heart on it and pushed it into the doorknob keyhole. The rust chipped as she slowly opened the battered door open. Dust and cold air rushed from the house as she entered. Everything inside was the same way she left it. The piano was smashed, the chandelier destroyed, all of the floors had busted holes in them, and upholstery was ripped and torn.
The floorboards creaked as she continued inside and downstairs. She flicked on her phone light and began scanning the room for a switch. Her hand swept across the wall until she found it and pushed it upward. A mechanism whirred and sputtered, eventually revealing a hole in the wall covered by a thick wall. Rainbow stepped in and flicked on the light. A hanging uniform glistened in the new light.
"Remember what your team is named after Rainbow. Your Wonderbolts are a reincarnation of my platoon name. Our infantry stormed into 'Nam guns blazing and all survived because of teamwork and our friendship. Never let go of that Rainbow. Your friends are everything. I'm going to be gone one day and you are going to be alone unless you have them. After your mom's passing, I wouldn't dare think of leaving you alone. This house is our fortress. You're the captain. Now lead us Rainbow….Lead us…."
Her dad's words still rang in her ears. Even after his death.
"What do I do dad? I don't know if I should fight or back down."
She walked into the room and stared at the plaque above the door.
"Friendship and trust. Really the only two things you need."
Rainbow looked closer and saw an envelope beneath the metal. She pulled at the corner and loosened it from it's hold. Dust flew off the top and revealed her name. She opened it and began reading the words her father always said.
"Remember…" Rainbow read the note aloud and began to sob.
After reading, she placed the note on her father's desk.
"Dad, I now know what I've been needing to do my whole life. Thank you…"
She turned around and took the uniform off the rotting, wooden hook.
